Smith Publicity Discusses Amazon eBook Marketing Strategies

Cherry Hill, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/19/2018 -- In their latest blog post, Smith Publicity discusses how authors can use eBook pricing as a powerful marketing tool.

Although eBook book pricing strategies are not new to either eBook marketing or Kindle book marketing, Smith Publicity explains that some authors have started to move away from tactics that once worked very well for some authors and had helped them achieve strong eBook sales.

In contrast to printed books, strategically changing the price of one's eBook is quite simple, with some experts encouraging authors to start high to low and others low to high.

Elaborating on this concept with an illustrative example, Smith Publicity states that one can begin with an eBook price at the higher end of the scale, and drop the price by $1 every few days until the price dips below $1. For instance, one may start the price off at $6.99 and incrementally reduce it until reaching $0.99. After repeating this process one more time, one can then analyze sales data and pinpoint the price at which the most copies of the book sold. One then stabilizes the price at this pinpoint. The same can be done low to high as well.

However, Smith Publicity also highlights the importance of understanding Amazon's pricing policies. They point out that selling one's book for free was once a common eBook marketing tactic that allowed one "sell" many books, achieve a high ranking, and subsequently switch to pricing while maintaining the previous ranking, Amazon's more recent policies have made this practice much more difficult.

Smith Publicity Offers Tips on Improving Holiday Book Sales

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/01/2018 -- Throughout their over 20 year history of the book publicity industry, Smith Publicity has always understood the need to strategize and prepare for a book campaign. And although the calendar reads September, the author marketing company is currently offering tips for boosting holiday book sales.

Books can make for the ideal holiday gift. Not only are they easy to buy and affordable, but because they typically require a knowledge of the receiver's interests, they offer a personal touch. And since the holidays are a time when books sales tend to spike, it's crucial for writers to prepare to capitalize on this season.

For instance, the holiday season sparks the creation of gift guides in many newspapers, magazines, and online outlets. These make for an excellent and unique opportunity for a writer to pitch their book and get included in the guide. And while there are some print magazines that look for gift guide recommendations as early as August, there are many other online publications that allow entries as late as a few days before the holidays.

Another way to increase holiday book sales is to offer something special, like a signed and gift-wrapped copy of the book sold directly from the writer's website. Additionally, selling the book from their own website can allow writers to set special holiday prices, unlike with online retailers who charge a percentage of the profits.

As part of their promotional efforts, writers should be charitable, announcing that they will make a donation to a specific charity that they name. Not only should they follow through with this contribution, but writers need to be prepared to post proof of this, such as a copy of the donation check or a thank you letter from the charity.

Attending events where their book would be a welcome addition is another way authors can boost holiday book sales. Offering signed books at reduced prices can be perfect to create a buzz at local libraries, places of worship, civic organizations, and schools. Donating them to local jail and prison libraries is another way to get them into the hands of more people to enjoy them.

Sending ten copies of a book to distributors for favorite stores like Walmart, Hallmark, and even independent bookstores can be a creative way to take a chance of getting them to carry it in their stores. There's no risk in trying this strategy, and it could yield significant results.

As the expert author publicist firm, Smith Publicity professionally manages and promotes their clients' book campaigns, all with proven results in this niche industry. By using these tactics, writers can increase holiday book sales and create interest in their works.

Smith Publicity Offers Speculation on the Future of BookExpo

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2018 -- Smith Publicity, one of the most successful bestselling book publicity firms in the industry, has exhibited at BookExpo (previously known as BookExpo America) for the past 15 years. In a recent blog post, this established firm considers some of the changes in this publishing industry event over the years and speculates on how it will evolve in the future.

BookExpo is America's number one book and author event. This expo offers experiences and opportunities for everyone in the publishing industry, including authors, booksellers, librarians, literary agents, distributors, and publishers.

This event, which was initially called the American Booksellers Association Convention and Trade Show, enjoyed a long period of stability from 1947 to 1971. In recent years, however, it has undergone several changes. The event location, length, and attendance have fluctuated dramatically over the years.

For example, the 2018 BookExpo boasted more visiting authors, a reimagined show, and industry-focused education, yet their attendance was only 7,700 — 200 people more than the 2017 expo, yet 13,300 people fewer than in 2015.

After thoroughly examining this event's changes over the years, Smith Publicity speculates about the future of BookExpo, as well as the future of the publishing industry.

Since 1997, Smith Publicity has represented thousands of books in every genre, by first-time authors, New York Times bestselling authors, and everyone in between. Their traditional book and e-book promotion services include a combination of traditional outreach and cutting-edge online strategies that get books noticed and boost sales.

Smith Publicity Offers Writers Tips on Book Editing

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/18/2018 -- As one of the premier marketing agencies for books and authors in North America, Smith Publicity has established themselves within the publishing industry as a trusted name and source of information. Now, the organization is offering tips and guidelines to burgeoning writers regarding the editing process of their work.

One of the primary adages of editing a book is that even when a writer thinks that their work is complete and free from editing errors, they are often wrong. In fact, the mistake of having a book published without having it professionally edited is one that's plagued many books and authors, including some well-known ones.

Smith Publicity uses their decades of experience as book promoters to impart their wisdom about the different kinds of editing: developmental, copy, and proofreading. Throughout these stages of editing a book, it slowly evolves into a cohesive work.

For instance, developmental editing examines the manuscript, concept, and organization of a book. Next, copy or line editing looks at the book for mistakes in spelling and grammatical issues. And finally, a proofreader performs a final examination of the book to ensure it's ready to be published.

Smith Publicity warns authors that errors in a book can essentially decimate their marketing efforts, and will most certainly be panned by reviewers. Consequently, investing in a professional editor is worth the money. Prices for this service can vary, with some editors charging by the word, by pages, or simply a flat fee.

One final piece of advice that Smith Publicity offers writers is not to let pride get in their way of having an editor correct their book. Everyone makes mistakes, and every manuscript can be improved in some way. Constructive criticism should be welcomed, not spurned.

Smith Publicity Presents Tips for Radio Interviews

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/11/2018 -- When constructing a marketing campaign for a nonfiction book, a publisher will typically combine various media opportunities built around a backbone of radio interviews. Since these interviews are an integral component of any successful book marketing campaign, they should be approached with professionalism and a sense of authority. Smith Publicity provides assistance with book marketing strategies for their clients and offers this information for interviewees to make the most of these media opportunities.

Listening to recordings of themselves is one ideal way to assess a person's speaking skills. Checking for sentences that trail off at their end and for mumbling can help identify weak parts and assist in making a more clear and powerful voice. Using filler words like "um" and "like" can create unnecessary pauses when answering questions, as can overusing words like "obviously" and "of course."

Even though many times they won't be seen during the interview, it's a good idea for interviewees to stand and dress professionally. Not only will they feel more confident because of their attire, but they'll feel stronger and more assured from standing. In addition, practicing humility during an interview can actually aid in promoting a book. Don't force self-promotion, but instead wait for organic opportunities to mention a book.

In regards to answering questions, answers should be short but complete. If a response is merely a "no" or "yes," then elaborating on why is a good idea. Occasionally, listeners may call in to challenge the interviewee. This is normal and should be handled with grace and poise. Inviting listeners to participate in an interview is also a perfect way to create engagement. One way to accomplish this is by offering free books to callers how correctly answer questions posed by the interviewee.

Understand that speaking this much may leave interviewees feeling parched and dry. Keeping a glass of water close can help to avert thirst and dry mouth conditions. And finally, always remember to thank the host while on air and send a personal note to the host and the producer a few days after the interview.

Following these simple guidelines can help interviewees speak clearly, concisely, and with authority while being interviewed during their book marketing campaign.
Smith Publicity Offers Tips for Marketing Children's Books

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/10/2018 -- As a publicity company that regularly utilizes strong book publishing marketing strategies, Smith Publicity is offering tips for marketing children's books in a blog post on their website. Smith Publicity works with published authors across all genres to promote and sell their work. For children's books, in particular, there are specific strategies to get the author's name out there.

Children's books require different marketing tactics than other book genres. Since children can't buy the books, the publicity needs to be geared toward grandparents, parents, and teachers. So to reach the children, who are the end users of these books, marketers need to get the attention of the people in the middle who will ultimately purchase them.

First, authors should begin locally and reach out to bookstores and libraries in their area. They can inquire about book signings, events, and "local authors" sections. Another great place to advertise is in schools. Authors can give away books, develop a compelling presentation, and leave order forms for teachers and parents.

When they go to local venues and events to market their children's books, authors should always get photos of themselves interacting with people, signing books, and speaking. Photos draw people's attention and are a strong media tool. Newspapers, blogs, and other outlets may be more compelled to write about an author's event if pictures are available.

Ultimately, Smith Publicity recommends that authors begin marketing their children's books locally in interactive and unique ways. Children's book authors can learn more about these strategies by visiting the Smith Publicity blog.

Smith Publicity Offers Insight Into Marketing Non-Fiction Books

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/09/2018 -- In a recent blog, Smith Publicity, a provider of book marketing services, explained some of the most important principles of marketing as they concern non-fiction books. The post, titled "Essential Elements of Marketing a Non-Fiction Book," described some of the best practices for garnering publicity in this genre. On a fundamental level, when book promoters like Smith Publicity reach out to reviewers, editors, and producers, they deliver concise and engaging pitches designed to spark interest.

As the post described, many professionals that work in the media industry have little time to spare. Because of this, people looking to promote books of any genre need to create succinct and direct pitches that use their time as effectively as possible. When sending emails, book publicists should always look to trim down its contents and keep the most important information towards the beginning.

As they focus on brevity, book promoters should also ensure that their pitches are compelling. In the brief time one has to capture the attention of a media contact, a pitch needs to intrigue while driving further interest. Simple or numerical press releases and taglines help the media easily grasp the subject matter of the book, and, in turn, help them to further publicize it. Book marketers may also want to focus on the author and their credentials, as media will want a person to showcase and interview.

Smith Publicity Shares Marketing Predictions for 2018

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/26/2018 -- For over a decade, Smith Publicity has served the publishing industry as a highly successful book marketing agency. Their experience in book marketing has allowed them to keep up with and even anticipate major industry trends as technology continues to transform how the country consumes media. In a recent blog post, they shared their top five predictions for the book marketing field in 2018.

In the new year, more easily consumed forms of media will likely continue to compete with more traditional outlets. Both print and broadcast media typically have online versions that give authors extra opportunities to publish material. Podcasts are also reaching record audiences, another boon for authors. On podcasts, writers can give in-depth, free-form interviews about their books while often reaching their target audiences in a more direct and effective manner.

Smith Publicity expects the world of publishing to become more and more egalitarian. Authors that choose to self-publish have been seeing increasingly consistent success. The "stigma" of such routes to publication has diminished. On top of that, the declining viewership of network TV makes book promotion more feasible for authors that have difficulty landing high-profile TV appearances. Prestigious spots on bestseller lists have grown increasingly irrelevant, as well.

Much has changed since Smith Publicity opened for business in 1997. However, it is reasonable to expect that print and broadcast advertising will become less and less relevant as online media rises in popularity. For more information about book publicity and marketing in 2018 or to learn more about Smith Publicity, call them at 856-229-0807 or visit their website, http://www.smithpublicity.com.

Smith Publicity Provides Insight on Book Marketing During the Holidays

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/19/2017 -- In a recently posted blog from Smith Publicity, the prolific book publicity firm offers a few tips on how to to turn what authors consider the holiday down time into prime time for book promotion.

The holiday season is a busy time for people all around the country. Smith Publicity suggests that authors take advantage of the common misconception that the period between Thanksgiving and New Year's is a dead time when it comes to book promotion. With numerous authors under the assumption that the holidays are not a peak time to promote work, the savvy author has less competition on some of the most crucial outlets.

Media outlets like magazines, newspapers, and radio & TV shows all have space to fill during the holidays, says Smith Publicity. While news producers fill time on air during this part of the year with cliche features, Smith Publicity says authors should seize the opportunity to pitch fresh alternatives to holiday-themed coverage. At the same time, authors can get in the holiday spirit and put books in the hands of numerous readers by giving away new copies to radio and TV producers, who can distribute the work to callers and viewers.

Finally, authors can turn the holiday down time into prime time for ebook marketing and book publicity by targeting the new year, and not waiting until after the new year to pitch resolution related books.

Hiring an author publicist can greatly benefit writers vying to reach a larger audience. Writers who are interested in learning more about book promotion during the holidays are encouraged to call Smith Publicity at 856-229-0807 or visit them online at http://www.smithpublicity.com.

Smith Publicity Provides Insight on How Authors Should Create Their Website

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/29/2017 -- Authors who are trying to reach a larger audience of readers, often times are unaware of the important tenets of author promotion and marketing. In a recent blog post from Smith Publicity, the company gave a couple of brief tips on what type of things authors should have on their website to reach a larger audience.

With the landscape of book publishing always evolving depending on technology, it is imperative for authors to have an author publicist who can help assist in the ever-crowded ebook marketing industry. Arguably the easiest way showcase an author's work is through creating a website. Authors just breaking onto the scene are encouraged to reach out a company like Smith Publicity to help them stand out from other competition.

When a reader clicks on an author's website, it is important that there is something that gauges the viewer's interest and keeps them browsing the site. Smith Publicity encourages authors to have an e-mail list on their website to engage relationships with readers and have an outlet to let readers know directly about upcoming events such as book releases or future workshops. The company also encourages authors to have a page dedicated any published works that are already out on the market.

By having proper book promotion on an author's website coupled with expert services provided by Smith Publicity, authors will be on the right track to get ahead of the competition online.
Smith Publicity Offers Important Tips for Amazon Authors

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/01/2017 -- Authors who are looking to maximize their book sales, often times neglect some of the most important parts of book promotion and marketing. Smith Publicity recently posted a blog which lists quick tips on how authors can make their Amazon page a beacon for sales and promotion.

Living in today's digital age, it is important for authors to have a good understanding of how to properly utilize ebook marketing. One of the simplest ways for authors to do this is by creating an author bio that shows personality along with a good reason for people to care about the work that is written. An author publicist is someone who can greatly benefit a writer in their mission to develop an eye-catching bio.

When readers are looking to purchase books through Amazon, many will peruse through the book description. Smith Publicity encourages authors to create book descriptions that begin with a couple of sentences highlighted in bold, followed up with a brief summary of the book. By using wording that is familiar with their target audience, authors are encouraged to make sure they differentiate their book from the rest in their genre.

By developing an author promotion plan that is revolved around concise wording, catchy and relevant themes, along with a bit of humor, authors have the perfect blueprint in place to see their book sales increase on their Amazon page.

Authors are interested in learning more about book and author promotion are encouraged to call Smith Publicity at 856-229-0807 for more information or to visit them online at http://www.smithpublicity.com/.

Smith Publicity Adapts to Changes in the Book Marketing Industry

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2017 -- Smith Publicity, a book publicist company, helps authors with book promotion through several marketing techniques. This allows authors from all genres to spark book sales, increase media coverage, and gain more opportunities in the future. As an industry leader in book marketing, Smith Publicity has observed the dramatic changes that have taken place during the last ten years and offer services that accommodate these changes to allow authors to thrive.

The professional author publicists at Smith Publicity have witnessed several changes in the book marketing industry that have both eliminated and cultivated opportunities for authors.

For example, as the Internet has expanded, many newspapers and magazines have gone out of business. Although the closing of some companies gets rid of some chances for book coverage, the Internet makes more content available for the general public and allows many more authors to display their work online, providing limitless coverage. With this in mind, Smith Publicity has moved many marketing strategies to online platforms.

Additionally, podcasts and book reviews have become increasingly popular because of the internet and the accessibility to technology. Podcasts allow for authors to participate in interviews that are available on smartphones and tablets. Book reviews have also gained more viewers because bloggers and online reviewers can easily read an e-book and publish an online review for the general public.

Changes in technology allow books to be read and reviewed online and make the media more reachable. This open communication allows Smith Publicity to grow in their book publicity techniques and offer e-book marketing and other technology-based services.

Throughout the years, Smith Publicity has grown with the Internet and other types of technology to create new strategies for authors to get publicity and spark more book sales. This book publicity company has gotten successful results for almost 20 years because of their commitment to authors and their new and innovative marketing techniques.

Smith Publicity Provides E-Book Marketing Services

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/20/2017 -- Smith Publicity has been one of the top book marketing companies in the industry since 1997. Author publicists and other publicists in the firm have been watching the world of books and publishing change rapidly over the past three decades. This company has developed several marketing plans and strategies to give authors the opportunity to promote their books regardless of the reading platform.

Over the past few years, reading platforms have certainly been changing. E-books, which can be read via technology such as Kindles and iPads, have recently become increasingly popular methods of reading. As an experienced publishing company, Smith Publicity has formulated e-book marketing strategies to keep up with the ever-changing reading and publishing industries.

Even though e-books are different from paper books in terms of the reading method, the promotional methods are relatively the same. Having an e-book allows for bloggers and social media users to have easier access to the book and its reviews. Publicists at Smith Publicity recommend that all authors have an ebook version of all of their books because social media and the internet are useful promotional tools when it comes to word of mouth. If authors have an e-book copy of their book, readers can easily use their device and begin reading as soon as they see a review or blog post about it.

At Smith Publicity, publicists are responsible for book promotion and author promotion. Their primary goal is to help authors secure media coverage, increase book sales, and find more writing opportunities.

Smith Publicity has remained a leading book marketing company because of their attention to effective marketing methods as e-books have become more popular. Authors are encouraged to receive publishing services from this book marketing firm that uses specific strategies to accommodate the growing e-book market and assist authors in the process.

Smith Publicity Shares Information About Pay-Per-Placement and Retainer Book Promotion Services

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/06/2017 -- Smith Publicity, a book marketing agency with over twenty years of experience, has released a new blog post explaining the difference between, and relative benefits of pay-per-placement and retainer book promotion services.

Smith Publicity explains that in a pay-per-placement strategy, the author doesn't have to pay an upfront fee and only pays money if they obtain media coverage. However, if the author obtains a significant media attention, their payment increases accordingly. With retainer-based book publicity, on the other hand, there is a set monthly charge and a publicist formulates a plan wherein they promote the author in a strategic, multi-dimensional manner. The full blog can be found on the company's website.

Smith Publicity is one of the most experienced book publicity agencies in the country, and has promoted thousands of books spanning every genre. Since 1997, the firm has used innovative strategies that have propelled countless clients towards success.

The agency offers aggressive national and international book marketing campaigns, short-term six week and one month publicity service packages, consultation services, press releases and much more.
Whether an author is self-published, a first-timer or a New York Times bestseller, Smith Publicity devises the right book marketing strategy. The agency possesses extensive media connections and their innovative publicity process puts their clients in the best position to succeed and secure media coverage.
Although some authors may think that digital media has rendered radio obsolete, Smith Publicity stresses that traditional radio interviews are an invaluable part of any book promotion campaign. According to Smith Publicity, radio interviews for authors should act as a baseline for book publicity, with other forms of media supplementing the campaign.

Drawing on a decade of success in promoting the work of a diverse client base, Smith Publicity has distilled the best practices for conducting radio interviews in pursuit of a successful book promotion campaign. The firm advises authors on practices such as how to use prepared notes, the best way to answer questions, how to self-promote in an engaging manner and even what to wear during a phone interview. Smith Publicity also encourages authors to do as many radio interviews as possible to increase exposure and opportunities.

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/05/2017 -- Smith Publicity, the most prolific book publicity and book marketing agency in the country, has announced that it offers a byline article pitching service for its clients. With the help of Smith Publicity, authors can place articles in highly visible media outlets in order to effectively promote their body of work.

Byline article pitching for authors, especially for non-fiction books, is a staple of Smith Publicity's book marketing campaigns. These articles are informational, non-promotional pieces, typically 800 to 1200 words in length, tailored to the target audience's interest.

Smith Publicity advises clients on topics that will be well-received by media outlets. Once the client writes an article, Smith Publicity reviews it with them. Once finalized, Smith Publicity pitches the work to media outlets. The article typically runs in multiple print and online outlets, and organic promotion for the author and their work will come from their bio, website and book information included at the end of the article.

As with all book marketing services at Smith Publicity, byline article pitching is tailor-made to the client. The agency may decide it is best to pitch articles to large national or global new outlets, or they may target smaller, vertical markets. In each case, Smith Publicity creates a customized marketing strategy designed to win their clients the most fruitful reader base and most relevant interest from publications and publishing houses.

Byline article pitching is just one of many book promotion methods deployed by Smith Publicity to ensure that their clients see success.
The Self-Publishing Revolution Continues to Flood the Market, Says Smith Publicity

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/19/2016 -- Those who are seeking out self-published book marketing or book marketing services are encouraged to pursue a book marketing company with a proven track record as soon as possible. In order to help grant access to further media opportunities, it is important to rely on a publicity agency that regularly succeeds in routine placements of self-published authors and/or their books on top national TV and radio shows. With the self-publishing revolution continuing to grow across the board, the need for book marketing, book publicity, book promotion, author promotion and writer marketing to spark book sales has increased, says Smith Publicity.

Self-publishing is not a new phenomenon; it started ten years ago and still continues today, having had increased by over 1,500% from 2008 to 2013. In a span of 5 years, the market has expanded significantly and continues to do so, flooding with an abundance of works. The book publishing market is held wide open, phasing out the "gatekeepers" at the major publishing houses who had previously determined which books got to market.

However, it is just as important to recognize the prestige that still comes along with having a major publisher imprinted on a book. Distribution is also a major advantage, with an entire sales team pushing books to bookselling venues. That is why it is important for those who are planning to or have self-published to take part in the revolution and choose the right self-published book marketing service.
