Chattanooga, TN -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/15/2018 -- Tekwell Services is proud to announce that they have purchased a new custom-designed Stoelting Lewis Ultrasonic Cleaning Unit to enhance Tekwell's in shop electric motor repair service offerings for customers.

This unit uses high frequency sound waves and a cleaning solution to clean and remove contaminants from parts and saves a lot of time in the process. Parts such as armatures, wound rotors, synchronous coils, field frames, stators, induction rotors, clutch and brake coils can be cleaned in a fraction of the time used previously and with better results.

The unit can handle parts as long as 115" long and 42" wide and includes a generator/control enclosure, pump recirculation system, and a chiller.

Tekwell Services Adds GE Ultra Series Vertical Pump Motors to Their Industrial Electric Motor Asset Management Program

Cartersville, GA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/05/2018 -- Tekwell Services is proud to announce that they have added General Electric's new low voltage vertical pump motors–the Ultra Series–to their inventory as part of Tekwell's industrial electric motor asset management program.

The Ultra Series of vertical pump motors have made numerous improvements to increase operational efficiency and reliability, increase thrust capability, and implements a new advanced and patented cooling system which results in a 30 degrees Celsius reduction in bearing temperature which leads to an extended bearing life. The Class H 2400 insulation system exceeds NEMA MG1-31 (tested to withstand corona inception voltage of 2400 volts peak @ 0.1 seconds) for motors operating on variable speed drives.

These vertical pump motors satisfy all of the industries efficiency standards known as the NEMA Premium Efficiency levels. These motors have superior construction and engineering which means a longer pump motor life, less of a need for replacement parts on hand, and less unplanned downtime.

SKF selected Tekwell Services because the company is one of 50 SKF Certified Rebuilder service centers in the U.S., a certification met only by achieving and maintaining the highest standards of quality, process, cleanliness and organization within their service center. This certification is maintained through rigorous, periodic audits of Tekwell's facilities and procedures.

The SKF Machine Inspector Certification training was an intensive three-day, hands-on program that focused on developing excellent troubleshooting and communication skills that takes the whole system into consideration when addressing service issues. The training taught Tekwell's service technicians about the inspection process, performance monitoring, and root cause analysis by looking at all four of the "boundaries" as a holistic approach to resolving motor issues. These four boundaries are the rotating assembly, lubrication, electrical, and plant process coordination. All with the end goal in mind to use performance correction to extend machine life.

Another major component of the training is improving the communication within the service organization by using Asset Information Pages (AIPs) to capture critical information about a specific electric motor. The AIPs correctly identify the motor through schematics or photos of the machine, list problems identified with that machine, as well as specific details of work and tests performed each time on that machine.

The service technician saves a lot of time if they can easily identify the machine, and have awareness of what tests and diagnostic troubleshooting steps have been taken previously—even if they are performed by a different service technician.
