BLUE Energy Group Helps Make Possible Study Which Indicates Major Job Growth from Energy-Saving Tax Incentive

Between 40,000 to 77,000 New Jobs to be Created Annually with Renewal of 179D Tax Deduction

Louisville, KY -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/24/2017 -- A study conducted by Regional Economic Models Inc. (REMI), funded in part by BLUE Energy Group, indicates that up to 77,000 new design and construction jobs would be created annually over the next decade – including nearly $7.4 billion more in annual GDP – if Congress and the Trump Administration continue an important energy efficiency tax policy in the 179D tax deduction.

Section 179D of the tax code – which is also known as the Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Deduction – allows qualifying building owners and businesses to receive up to a $1.80 per square foot tax deduction for certain energy efficient improvements placed into service during all open tax years. Originally, it was passed by Congress as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 in direct response to broader energy usage and independence concerns.

The Regional Economic Models Inc. (REMI) study documents job creation and GDP growth under three scenarios that continue energy efficiency tax policies:

- Modernizing Section 179D, including increasing the deduction to $3 per square foot and making certain other reforms to strengthen it, generates significant job creation - on average 76,529 per year during its first decade.

- A long-term extension of the deduction at its current $1.80 per square foot level creates an average of almost 41,000 jobs per year over 10 years.

- A long-term extension at $1.80 per square foot, extension of the deduction to hospitals, schools, and other non-profits and to tribal community facilities, and an increase in the energy efficiency requirements creates almost 40,000 jobs per year over the next decade.

According to the study, the economic growth and job creation generated by a modernized Section 179D would result in a GDP return of ten to one when considering the cost of the tax policy.

"Looking at the continuance of 179D from the perspective of not only businesses but also workers seeking employment and an overall bolstering effect to the economy, this tax code is a crucial element of the bigger picture of the progress of our country," shared BLUE Energy Group Owner Josh Howes. "Our company – standing alongside many other organizations – is proud to be a part of having a positive impact on the economic landscape and will continue to support 179D and the widespread benefits and positive results of its existence."

The study was co-funded by BLUE Energy Group along with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Alliant Group LP, Ameresco, Concord Energy Strategies, Energy Tax Savers, Energy Systems Group, National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

"BLUE Energy Group" Presents as Gold Sponsor at 2016 Energy Services Coalition

EPAct 179D Specialists Share the Importance of Extending the Energy Incentive Tax Deduction Set to Expire December 2016

Louisville, KY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/04/2016 -- August 23-24 saw the Energy Services Coalition Market Transformation Conference conduct its 5th annual gathering at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY. The two-day event offered a tremendous opportunity for networking and partnering to take place as nearly every ESPC State Program Manager and ESC Chapter assembled into one physical location. Also featured were in-depth panel discussions with public and private experts who presented on ESPC solutions.

Among the many distinguished attendees was BLUE Energy Group. The licensed engineering firm that specializes in helping companies receive tax deductions under Section 179D Tax Deduction for Energy Efficient Buildings was a gold sponsor of the conference. BLUE Energy Group Owner Josh Howes presented during the Government Affairs portion of panel discussions. The panel - which was lead and moderated by Christine Keck, Energy Systems Group, ESC Past-President - discussed various issues relating to states, cities, schools and other government entities across the US in relation to putting legislation, resolutions and rules in place to reduce energy usage in their buildings. The panel members also explored the policy trends that are currently affecting performance contracting projects in 2016.

Howes's presentation was informative for all in attendance and focused on EPAct Section 179D - both in defining it and explaining its importance. As BLUE Energy Group has been on the forefront of these issues, Howes's input was particularly insightful. Pertinent to the overall discussion was the fact that 179D is set to expire in December 2016 which will cause businesses to miss out on saving millions of dollars if renewal does not occur. In the public building sector, 179D exists to encourage designers to incorporate more energy efficiency than building code dictates thereby benefiting the public with lower energy bill and lower maintenance costs as well as designers with federal tax incentives.

Howes went on to outline the present state of affairs in relation to 179D as well as multiple ways companies can work towards encouraging the legislators to extend this provision of the tax code.

"As proponents of 179D, we want a multi-year extension, but it will take action," explained BLUE Energy Group Owner Josh Howes. "We need to urge Congress to address 179D before the year ends and expand it for non-profits and tribal governments as well as encourage and voice our opinions to other key members of government both in the House and Senate."

BLUE Energy is involved in the energy sector through their providing certifications for 179D tax deductions, cost segregation, asset disposition, and utility rebates. An active member of ESC, NAESCO, AIA, NSPE, ASHRAE, USGBC, and A4LE, BLUE Energy's clients include private building owners, architectural firms, engineering firms, contractors, and ESCOs with their specialization being in in commercial building engineering studies.

"Blue Energy Group" Pushes for Tax Deductions for Architects, Engineers, ESCOs, Accounting Firms, and Building Owners

Section 179D Specialists Partner with NAESCO and Other Organizations in Extending the Energy-Efficient Commercial Building Tax Deduction (EPACT)

Louisville, KY -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/03/2016 -- Following this most recent tax season many companies are burdened with the weight of tax debt while some companies, on the other hand, find significant tax relief in the use of tax credits and deductions. Whatever tax filing deadline applies, and whether the net operating result is a gain or a loss, the federal tax issue does not pass without being noticed. Especially watchful is Blue Energy Group – a company built on the function of seeing to it that tax dollars are retained by those organizations working hardest to efficiently design and utilize methods of energy conservation. In fact, Blue Energy's success depends on reducing its clients' tax liability through tax deductions – namely the Energy-Efficient Commercial Building Tax Deduction, or for short, the Section 179D tax deduction.

Changes in tax law do occur and for that reason Blue Energy Group's role has never been more vital. The 179D tax deduction is currently set to expire at the end of the 2016 calendar year, which means that some companies – including many small businesses –could lose the opportunity to save millions of dollars in taxes. Many of Blue Energy Group's clients – which include owners of architect companies, construction companies, and engineering companies – will suffer from this serious shift in policy if it occurs.

For this reason, Blue Energy Group is strategically and aggressively supporting groups that assert the greatest influence through education, lobbying and other effective activities. Earlier this year, Blue Energy joined forces with NAESCO by becoming an annual Platinum level sponsor, as well as an annual conference Gold sponsor with the Energy Services Coalition. NAESCO, in particular, has been, and continues to be, instrumental in its intense focus on lobbying efforts. Blue Energy also sponsors the Kentucky Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) because of its strong lobbying efforts to extend the 179D tax deduction.

Josh Howes, owner of Blue Energy Group, explains that, "2016 has been a year of focusing our efforts even more intensely on making sure 179D gets renewed. There is a lot at stake across multiple industries if it does not go through and that's why we're so dedicated and determined." If 179D is not allowed to continue, Howes states that, "the effect will not only work a hardship on Blue Energy's clients but will have an adverse economical and environmental impact on all commercial building owners."
