Ampac Engineers Improved Anti-Fog Technology for Fresh Produce Packaging

Ampac, a division of ProAmpac, and the world’s leader in creative flexible packaging solutions, has engineered an improved anti-fog technology for film used in fresh produce packaging.

Cincinnati, OH -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/09/2016 -- Ampac has been a long time supplier of surface printed anti-fog OPP film with controlled perforation for vegetables. From a market need, and through the efforts of a strong technical team, Ampac developed coated films with superior anti-fog properties that help prevent condensation for heat sealable films. Unlike other technologies, the new anti-fog coating technology has excellent seal and hot tack properties and does not impact the coefficient of friction (COF) of the films, while providing improved transparency for fresh produce.

In addition, the features and performance of the anti-fog coating works in conjunction with tailored perforations in the film to control the respiration rate of different vegetables. This creates a unique combination that is attractive to grocers requiring improved properties for produce packaging. The anti-fog coating is exceptional for bag and lidding applications and is also FDA approved for microwave applications.

According to Dr. Hesam Tabatabaei, ProAmpac's Director of Research, Innovation and Technology, "Our new anti-fog technology offers improved clarity with technical advances that improve line efficiencies on form fill and seal packaging machines. The improved clarity helps drive sales of fresh produce by highlighting the freshness of the product. We're excited to add this new anti-fog technology to ProAmpac's broad portfolio of innovative flexible packaging solutions."

Ampac Announces Low Extractable Barrier Lamination – PRO FlexiPURETM

New low extractable barrier lamination for the pharmaceutical and medical device markets launched by Ampac

Cincinnati, OH -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/10/2016 -- Ampac, a division of ProAmpac, announces a new low extractable barrier lamination, PRO FlexiPURETM, which enhances the existing family of successful barrier drug and medical device overwrap laminations for the pharmaceutical and medical device markets.

As analytical equipment has improved, detection limits of trace contaminants have lowered. In filing new drug applications using packaging film, these detectable trace compounds must be included in the drug submission process, identified, risks analyzed, and monitored, all of which costs pharmaceutical companies time and money. The fewer of these components that are realized in the film structure, the less time and money needed to be spent on this portion of a new drug submission.

To strengthen their existing family of successful barrier drug overwrap laminations, Ampac is introducing a low extractable barrier lamination called PRO FlexiPURE, which addresses the amount of trace contaminants found in film structures. This product line extension to Ampac's drug overwrap films Flexi 2114, Flexi 6554/6702, and Flexi-Free 7200, has been independently tested and proven to reduce sealant side extractables by 60% over solvent based laminations. This reduction of sealant side extractables (in water, alcohol and hexane) by 60% produces a low extractable, clean lamination profile.

The benefit of PRO FlexiPURE to the customer is a reduction in time and effort needed in completing packaging requirements of drug submissions. With a low extractable profile, there are fewer compounds to be identified, analyzed and monitored. In addition, the aluminum foil barrier provides excellent shelf life, a low moisture transmission rate, low oxygen transmission rate and low light penetration.

Ampac Senior Market Manager, Craig Livingston, states "As a company, Ampac's continued focus and ultimate goal is to supply our customers with new technology that provides value while improving packaging performance for their product. We are delighted to have achieved our goal with the new low extractable barrier lamination PRO FlexiPURE."
