Burbank, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/12/2018 -- American actor Tyler Blackburn has recently carved a milestone on television by appearing in the hit TV show Pretty Little Liars for a total of seven years. Blackburn plays Caleb Rivers, a street-smart bad boy with a shady past who provides phone upgrades and fixes for people for money; and who in alternate turns becomes a spy, an Information Risk Analyst, a Social Media Consultant, and then Security for the Sanitarium-turned Hotel The Radley. Apart from his role on Pretty Little Liars, he has also dabbled in singing, independent cinema, and is currently slated to star in the TV series Roswell, New Mexico as Alex Manes. The sheer diversity of his roles shows his range and effortless ability to inhabit different characters for film and TV. Part of this success is his use of The Heller Approach to acting. Blackburn has worked with top Hollywood acting coach professor Brad Heller at The Heller Approach Acting Studio to learn about The Heller Approach: an acting technique that was developed by Brad Heller from Don Richardson's book Acting without Agony: An Alternative to the Method. It is a technique that relies on Muscle Memory and the phases of Preparation and Execution to provide actors with a fun and non-traumatic way to effectively portray a character. As he writes in his testimonial for The Heller Approach Acting Studio: "Since I started Brad's class I feel that I have come across a technique that works for me. I highly recommend classes with Brad Heller!"

Danielle Truitt and David A.R. White Earn Praise for Their TV, Movie Roles

Burbank, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/15/2018 -- Actors Danielle Truitt and David A.R. White recently earned raves for their portrayals on TV and movies: Truitt for her breakout performance in the police drama series REBEL which premiered on BET, and White for his starring role in the movie God's Not Dead: A Light In Darkness. Both actors are practitioners of The Heller Approach to acting, and worked with top Hollywood acting coach Brad Heller, the approach's creator.

The show REBEL follows the travails of Rebecca "Rebel" Knight (Truitt): a tough, smart Oakland detective who is respected for her being able to solve more cases of homicide than any of her contemporaries. She is forced to quit from the force and become a private investigator after she becomes embroiled in a criminal investigation by internal affairs for an incident involving the death of her younger brother. REBEL features events that resonate with current issues such as police brutality. The show's lead star, Danielle Truitt convincingly flexes her dramatic prowess, as well as her ability to do action scenes. Jetmag.com's review of REBEL written by Aramide Tinubu described Truitt as being "Like a modern day female Shaft draped in exquisite clothing, Truitt's Rebel is the sensational foundation on which this entire series sits. Bold, brash and unapologetic, she wields her weapons and badge like white men in power have done for centuries. Petite and powerful, Truitt's presence immediately commands attention when she steps into a room."

In God's Not Dead: A Light In Darkness, White stars as Reverend David Hill, the pastor of the local St. James Church found at Hadley University in Hope Springs. The film follows the clashing principles of the University's Board Members and the local Christians who hope to save their church from being shut down. Variety magazine gave the film a good review, but accorded special distinction to White, who got a glowing review for his acting chops. The article, written by Owen Glieberman states: "As the reverend, David A.R. White, who is one of the film's producers, gives a quietly good and original performance, portraying this man of the cloth not as a typical movie crusader but as a sexy-dumpy middle-aged slacker for God." The film opened in a big way at over 2,400 theaters on its opening weekend.

Both Truitt and White studied under Professor Brad Heller, one of the top acting coaches in Hollywood and proponent of The Heller Approach: a "Non-Method" approach to acting. The Heller Approach relies on Muscle Memory and the twin phases of Preparation and Execution in order to allow actors to portray their roles in a fun and effective way. "Brad is a really giving and great teacher. He helps me stay "real" for all my auditions. As well as helps me keep my work human and real but also entertaining. One of his gifts is teaching comedy – the tools I must know for sit – Com's and comedic films. Now audience laughs exactly where I want them to. His lessons are a must to any actor." White shares in his testimonial. Truitt, in her testimonial, states: "Brad is an amazing teacher. He really helps you believe in yourself while challenging you to be great and not just good. His teaching definitely gave me that extra push I needed, and prepared me to book the jobs I always dreamed of getting. Thanks Brad!"

Brad Heller Wishes Billy Zabka Success for Cobra Kai

Burbank, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/17/2018 -- Top Hollywood acting coach Brad Heller, the proponent of The Heller Approach to acting and main man of The Heller Approach Acting Studio, is wishing his friend; actor and film producer William "Billy" Zabka success with his new show Cobra Kai: a web-only TV series on Youtube Premium. Heller and Zabka became fast friends when Heller starred in the Oscar-nominated movie Most, which was produced by Zabka.

Cobra Kai is a series that takes place a good thirty years after the events in the 1984 film The Karate Kid. In it, Zabka plays Johnny Lawrence; the once-star pupil of the title's namesake karate dojo and nemesis of the Daniel LaRusso character played by Ralph Macchio. Present-day Lawrence is down on his luck, and seeks to find a shot at redemption by reopening the now-notorious Cobra Kai dojo; thereby sparking his rivalry with LaRusso, who has become a successful car dealer. The two rivals suffer from past wounds and present-day frustrations, and try to remedy them by using karate.

While the characters' motivations and alignments were clear-cut in the original film, the show focuses on the "gray areas" where the distinction between good and bad are not so apparent. As Zabka explained in his May 2, 2018 interview with NYMAG.COM's Vulture: "The Karate Kid was really about mentorship, with Daniel and Miyagi and Johnny's mentor, who happened to teach him the wrong things. But for my character, he learned a lesson, too. When they asked me to do this, I said, "Cobra Kai is really a Pandora's box for Johnny. You have to give me a real good reason for developing this." And they said, "He's gonna try to do it differently now. That's why it is hard to decide whether the principles of Cobra Kai are noble or not."

Brad Heller of the Heller Approach Featured in Voyage LA Interview

The spotlight was on the founder of prestigious acting school The Heller Approach

Burbank, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/19/2018 -- Voyage LA, the flagship publication of Voyage Media, published a February article highlighting Brad Heller, founder and teacher at The Heller Approach acting school. True to its mission, Voyage LA delivers an authentic and personal conversation with Brad about his discovery of acting, and where it has led him and his students today.

Heller describes developing his approach from two sources, Don Richardson, who steered him toward acting without falling back on emotional memories, and Dr. Eda Gorbis, who encouraged him to embrace anxiety to overcome it. Speaking of the experience, Heller said "I was learning how to act at my potential WITH discomfort and distractions rather than trying to avoid them. It was crazy, but the new way I was rehearsing was, for example, practicing my auditions at home with the television on, so that it bothered me, or having people being able to hear me…rehearsing with the windows open, enough to distress me. This was opposite to the old way of rehearsing where I was shutting the windows and creating a "safe" space to practice.

It made so much sense! I mean, when I am auditioning, I am NEVER in a comfortable space, so why rehearse this way? Now, I was practicing and habituating this discomfort, so that when I went to an audition, I had already been exposed to these things, so it didn't throw me anymore when I was hit with something that bothered me. That was really what completely revamped me as an actor."

Heller has passed these methods on to his students, who have enjoyed great success from television to the big screen. Brad has personally worked with such famous faces as Masi Oka and Tyler Blackburn. Judge Reinhold found the Heller Approach so reliable he said, "I never show up for work without working with Brad first. He keeps me real & he points out both my strengths and weakness in an encouraging way that allows me to make the most of every opportunity."

Natalie Distler, seven year series regular on the hit show Rescue Me, is also a happy student of Heller's. "I've trained with many acting coaches in both NY and LA," she notes, "and I have never felt as confident going into an audition as I have after working with Brad. He taught me how to be more present and in the moment. Brad is a wonderful teacher that truly cares and knows what he is talking about." About The Heller Approach
"The Heller Approach" is an acting technique taught exclusively by Brad Heller-- an actor, director, and teacher, who taught for 5 years at UCLA before going private. Heller's teachings are based on the works of his former teacher and mentor, Don Richardson, an original member of the Group Theatre, which was the nucleus of acting in the United States. His fellow students were Sanford Meisner, Stella Adler and Uta Hagen, but Don was the only student from the Group Theatre who said, "The Method is NOT what acting is about." We believe he was exactly right!

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Ashley Allphin
Telephone: 323-962-8077
Email: Click to Email Ashley Allphin
Web: http://thehellerapproach.com/

The Heller Approach Guides Acting Professionals Past Stage Fright Towards Success

Under the Direction of Brad Heller and His Seasoned Team of Coaches, Actors at All Stages of Their Career Can Learn to Move Past Anxiety and Excel

Burbank, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/25/2017 -- Turning one's energy from that of a nervous disposition to that of a calm yet confident and assertive demeanor is a skill that can take a fair amount of time to master. In the acting professional, in particular, cultivating this tool is absolutely essential.

With combined decades and decades of training professional from all over the globe who come to their Los Angeles studio, Brad Heller and his team at The Heller Approach know the importance of imparting this special skill to their students.

"Showing our students how to overcome stage fright really goes hand in hand with our non-method approach in that we are giving individuals the tools they need to perform in the real world in a way that will help them to actually book gigs and advance their career – i.e., actually be able to pursue their passion," shared seasoned instructor and working actor Brad Heller who founded The Heller Approach over fifteen years ago.

Once students have understood the aspect of The Heller Approach's curriculum that wraps itself around the principle <a class="extlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" title=""Acting is like being an athlete"" href="http://thehellerapproach.com/the-technique/">"Acting is like being an athlete", they can build upon it to overcome stage fright. Becoming an actor in Los Angeles can be compared to competing in the Olympics. To give an example using professional football, it requires the ability to handle the stress and pressure of being the wide receiver who is absolutely able to catch the ball when billions of people are watching him at the Super Bowl. Similarly, being an actor who is able to leave an audition without regret knowing that they performed at the highest level of their capability is the definition of victory. To not let fear and anxiety impede one's performance is success. As an actor, one's ability to act is the only thing one has control over. As such, understanding how to handle the fear when it hits is fundamental to one's success as an actor.

"We get students all the time who can perform their lines in an astonishing fashion, but is it enough to make them a great actor? The question then becomes: can they consistently perform that way?" continued Brad Heller. "To act for a living is not just to be able to perform a jaw-dropping scene now and again. It requires that the actor be able to perform anytime anywhere and to conjure up what is needed to get the job done and done well."

Acting under any condition is an integral part of the framework laid out for students at the The Heller Approach. Whether it's good feelings, bad feelings, or distracting thoughts, students no longer need to mess up their auditions due to anxiety causing them to freeze. Ultimately, students of The Heller Approach acting school no longer leave their auditions or performances with the worst feeling in the world – regret. Instead, they can walk away knowing they did more than give it their best – they came PREPARED to do their best.

Leading West Coast Acting Studio Garners Solid Reputation from Students

The Heller Approach Helps Aspiring Actors Learn From One of the Nation’s Top Acting Coaches

Burbank, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/07/2017 -- Hollywood may be the mecca where actors from across the nation – and even around the globe – go to pursue their dreams, but that doesn't stop one acting studio from shining and standing out amongst a sea of other acting classes and teachers promising results. The Heller Approach, a world-class acting studio in Burbank, CA run by Brad Heller, certainly qualifies for this position.

What makes The Heller Approach so special is due, in one part, to a very special acting technique and, two, to a committed and passionate instructor. Brad, who was mentored by Don Richardson, is an actor, teacher and director. Brad was Don's protege and, after Don's passing, Brad began teaching and coaching Don's revolutionary non-method acting technique at UCLA for 5 years and privately in his own school. Brad has since built a very successful acting and producing career, appearing in hundreds of TV shows, commercials, and films. Most recently, guest starring in a very well received role on "Criminal Minds" and in the Academy Award Nominated film, "MOST."

Brad has always felt compelled to carry out Don's legacy and has taken many actors from beginner to master in a very short period of time. Brad Heller is widely considered as offering the best acting classes in Los Angeles and as being the best acting coach in Hollywood and his students certainly seem to agree.

Brittany Finamore of Glee, Cory in the House, Ghost Whisperer, Another World reflected on how quickly her learning process was and how acting doesn't have to be torturous: "The Heller Approach is so refreshing compared to other classes I've taken. In my very first session with Brad, Ihad a moment of clarity and I knew right away what needed to be changed in the scene we were working on. I love the idea of not having to be beaten down and broken to be a good actor. You can still give a great performance and have fun with it!"

With a plethora of real world experience under his own belt, students benefit not only from Brad's acting wisdom, but receive sounds and pragmatic advice such as how to be prepared for auditions (something intrinsically embedded within the non-acting method to begin with). Actor Alex Goode said it best when he shared, "The Heller Approach could not be more practical; as a teacher, Brad arms his students with the tools necessary to tackle any situation."

Other students such as Hector David Jr., who has appeared in Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief and Power Rangers Megaforce, expounded upon the support and comradery Brad and The Heller Approach offers: "When you have someone like Brad Heller apart of your team, you don't need anybody else. Genius."

Truly a place where students realize acting is more than about tormenting themselves just to get one part, but rather an educational center that accepts new students and experienced actors alike and shows them that through hard work, acting can be a truly enjoyable career and, in the process, they are provided with the everyday tools they'll need to make it in the long run and adapt to each situation they encounter.

Acting Students Across the Country Recognize Hollywood Coach Brad Heller as a Leading Figure in the Industry

The Heller Approach Gives Aspiring Actors One of the Best Acting Studio Experiences in the Nation

Burbank, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/17/2017 -- The Heller Approach Acting Studios is a world-class acting studio based in Burbank, CA that offers a different angle to learning acting. Unlike the well-known method style of acting, Heller Approach teaches both beginning and highly experienced actors how to hone their craft using a technique originally laid out by Don Richardson. As a mentor to Brad Heller, Don Richardson's ideas have shaped The Heller Approach's many students of the present day and recent past but were also the basis for greats in more distant history such as Spencer Tracy and Anne Bancroft.

As a whole new breed of actors make their mark on the world utilizing The Heller Approach, students reflect on the way Brad Heller has shaped their career or their first venture into acting and what it means for their own future.

"Since I started Brad's class I feel that I have come across a technique that works for me. I highly recommend classes with Brad Heller!" shared Tyler Blackburn who stars in the ABC hit show Pretty Little Liars.

Brittany Finamore of Glee, Cory in the House, Ghost Whisperer, and Another World added, "The Heller Approach is so refreshing compared to other classes I've taken. In my very first session with Brad, I had a moment of clarity and I knew right away what needed to be changed in the scene we were working on. I love the idea of not having to be beaten down and broken to be a good actor. You can still give a great performance and have fun with it!"

From one-on-one to group classes all the way to Skype sessions and seminars, Brad has a special knack for connecting with each and every one of his students in a profound and lasting way.

"I've trained with many acting coaches in both NY and LA, and I have never felt as confident going into an audition as I have after working with Brad," shared Natalie Distler who has acted as a regular for seven years on the hit show Rescue Me as the daughter of Dennis Leary. "He taught me how to be more present and in the moment. Brad is a wonderful teacher that truly cares and knows what he is talking about. The call back today went so great! I felt a million times better about it once I worked on it with Brad! Looking forward to class on Thursday!"

One thing all of Brad's students can agree on is their appreciation of his dedication to the craft of acting, the depth of personal attention he brings to each of them, as well as the honesty, sensitivity and intensity he manages to somehow perfectly balance out in a way that truly propels them to be at the top of their game. As Lauriane T. Gillieron (Miss Switzerland and runner-up Miss Universe, Rules of Engagement, Days of Our Lives) put it: "Passionate and motivating. Brad Heller opened up a new world of acting … painless and fearless."
As a regularly booking actor himself, Heller relates to not only the challenges of acting on stage, but also maneuvering through the industry as well and the idea of always being prepared for a call.

The Heller Approach Lauded as Being One of the Best Acting Studios in the Industry

North Hollywood, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/25/2016 -- Many in the entertainment and acting industry are familiar with the popular style of learning and performing known as method acting. The Heller Approach Acting Studios – based in Burbank, CA – offers an alternative "non-method" way of acting that has been used for decades by many Hollywood icons of the past (such as Spencer Tracy and Anne Bancroft) and still continues to be used with tremendous success by today's generation as well.

Top Hollywood talent managers and casting directors alike recognize Brad Heller, found of The Heller Approach, as not only a leading acting coach in regards to this specific technique (which was passed down to Heller by his mentor Don Richardson) but as a leading teacher in the field in general – an accolade certainly deserving the attention equal to its merit.
Brad's tools are a necessity for actors in the beginning or seasoned stages of their careers. Brad himself has worked closely with Academy Award and Emmy Award winners as well as seasoned experts, including his own mentor – the legendary Don Richardson. Don Richardson taught such legendary actors as Grace Kelly, Spencer Tracy, and Anne Bancroft, to name a few and also directed over 800 television shows. Brad has strived to build Don's teachings in his daily repertoire of tools by passing them onto thousands of students over the years while teaching acting at UCLA and at his own studio, The Heller Approach Acting Studio.

While a popular style of learning and performing is the well-known method acting, The Heller Approach gives its students the opportunity to explore a non-method perspective and, ultimately, an entirely new way of acting that lends itself to success with longevity and builds upon a foundation that enables and establishes consistency.

"I have learned a lot from my own mentors, from teaching, and from my own experience acting for the last 35 years and what I've tried to cultivate at the acting studio is an approach that is sustainable." shared The Heller Approach Founder Brad Heller. "What I teach is something that can be called upon at virtually any time and is not dependent on the ability to tap into possibly traumatic memories at the drop of a hat or to sacrifice one's psychological well-being simply to perform at their given task in the moment and, ultimately, pursue their career long-term."

Seasoned Los Angeles Acting Teacher Offers a Plethora of Free Enriching Video Lessons

YouTube Channel The Heller Approach Nears 1 Million View Mark

North Hollywood, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/17/2016 -- "What makes an actor a great actor is not the ability to get up on stage and perform something". These are some of the opening lines to Brad Heller's video entitled Introduction to Acting. This provocative statement is one of many that Brad goes on to unravel in a fascinating way that leads the student to truly look at acting with a fresh perspective.

Great students need great teachers. The craft of acting is no exception to this. Brad Heller, founder of The Heller Approach Acting Studios in Los Angeles, CA, was himself a student of a great by the name of Don Richardson. The Heller Approach is founded on the non-Method Acting principles taught by Don Richardson which are thoroughly summed up in his book "Acting Without Agony: An Alternative to The Method". Richardson mentored the likes of superstars such as Spencer Tracy, Grace Kelly, Robert Redford and Kirk Douglas to name but a few. While Brad was fortunate enough to be trained by Don Richardson himself, the lessons from the pages of the revolutionary teacher and author's book have helped myriads of actors and trainers over the years (and still to this day) without the physical presence of the teacher himself.

There are many mediums through which to learn acting. Whether it be through a book, audio tape, or video, the lessons gleaned can be poignant and shape actors into greats. Brad Heller has amassed what truly is not only a present day treasure trove of for the present time but also a timeless and ever-growing collection of completely free instruction and wisdom through his YouTube channel. With nearly 1 million video views to date, the channel ranges in topics from Acting is the Ability to React to The Foundation of the Heller Approach and Cold Reading to How to Make an Impression.

The way in which Brad delivers and engages the audience (whether in the studio or in the virtual realm) is a feat in its own right. His natural poise, absolute passion, and obvious experience are infectious. It's the next best thing to experiencing it in the flesh. His charisma and intensity all seep through the screen while still maintaining a highly relatable and encouraging tone that offers truly sound advice on techniques for actors of all levels from the fledgling to the seasoned. What makes Brad's videos especially powerful is their downright pragmatism. Even veterans who are superb storytellers onscreen often struggle with consistency. Or, perhaps they battle psychological issues or are tormented by the means or "method" they use to generate emotions on stage. The Heller Approach deals deeply with these issues and makes acting a fun and exciting journey to embark upon – not a dreadful and treacherous one.

Why Acting Is Like Being an Athlete

Los Angeles Based Acting Studios The Heller Approach Shares Contemporary Insights to an Old Craft Based on Don Richardson’s Teaching

North Hollywood, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/27/2016 -- Founded in 1994 by Brad Heller, The Heller Approach Acting Studios believes there are multiple ways to approach acting. Some methods torment the individual while others uplift and challenge them. Based on The Non Method Acting Technique which comes from the lessons of the late Don Richardson (Emmy winning director who directed over 800 television shows and mentored such icons as Grace Kelly and Spencer Tracy), the Los Angeles based Heller studio takes the route that – while grueling in its own right – is anything but torturous. Along with plenty of hard work, it is something that can – to the contrary – be enjoyable and exciting. Training should equip actors with the ability to perform on queue and not depend on the uncertain and unstable foundation Method Acting calls for. Being an actor doesn't just mean being able to pull off an incredible scene once in a while – it means consistently and competently being able to execute superb deliveries. After all, in the real world, casting directors aren't going to wait around for you to tap into a childhood memory or care if you can give a jaw-dropping dialogue – they need to see a resilient, highly-skilled confident professional who can be depended on to perform at their craft at all times under any given circumstances.

It's no wonder then that The Heller Approach utilizes one of the fundamental strategies employed by Don Richardson in his training which is a technique based on muscle memory and makes the apropos comparison of athleticism to acting. The principle of "acting is like being an athlete" may seem confusing at first, but after some thought, it is clear how the two are related. An athlete and an actor require the same training, the same principles of preparation, and the same muscle memory execution. In order for one's acting to be believable and true, the actor must not be thinking about what he is supposed to do next, or be watching himself to ensure he is "doing it correctly." Don often reminded his students that "the character doesn't know she's in the story. To create convincing human beings we must obey natural laws. In life, we do not go around constantly thinking about who we are, and neither should the character." After our brains have memorized the lines, the rest of the tasks in acting are turned over to our body. Through practice, our bodies can learn to do things without thinking - just as we learn to catch a ball without thinking about it. The greatest aid in acting is that our body remembers.

The non-method acting technique used at The Heller Approach relies on muscle memory. Just as a professional tennis player does not think about how he is going to hit the ball on the tennis court, an actor needs to be able to trust his body to remember the preparation done prior to filming. Similar to athletic training, there are two phases in acting: Preparation and Execution. Preparation is the step where one learns everything. Execution is where they let go completely – allowing their body to remember what it learned during rehearsal. The muscles will remember if the preparation has been done. A professional athlete trains every day in order to prepare for the big match, and once he is on the court, there is no more thinking about what he is going to do – he just does it. In acting, the answer lies in making everything we can a conditioned reflex so that we don't have to think about it.

"Don Richardson's mentor Charles Jehlinger – and also a teacher of Robert Redford – once told him, 'You cannot criticize and be creative at the same time.' As I understand it, actors are creative individuals who want to share their gift with the world around them so this idea of the overall ineffectiveness of criticism and creativity sharing the same space simultaneously is one really worth taking seriously," shared Brad Heller who was personally taught by Don Richardson. "The Heller Approach creates a fun and effective environment where gifts are honed and nurtured into a powerful skill for actors who see what they do as more than a mere hobby, but rather as a career they are in passionate pursuit of."

The Heller Approach Teaches How to Master the Craft of "Acting Without Agony"

Based on Don Richardson’s Teaching, Los Angeles-based Acting Studio Uses the Non Method Acting Technique to Create Great Actors

North Hollywood, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/14/2016 -- Nowhere in the definition of the word "dedication" is self-destruction mentioned. Dedication means hard work. It means persistence, commitment, devotion. Acting – as anyone who has ever taken it seriously knows – is a discipline that requires dedication. Often, however, it can be taken to such an extreme it ends up causing pain, grief, and even trauma to those acting. Unfortunately, some believe this is the only way to achieve great acting when – in reality – nothing could be further from the truth. One need not put their mind, body, and soul into a dark state every time the curtains open or the camera starts recording. Many great teachers and actors know and live by another kind of dedication to the craft they love.

The Heller Approach, founded in 1994 by Brad Heller (subsequent to Heller teaching acting at UCLA for 5 years), believes acting should be fun and exhilarating. While learning the skill of acting can be extremely rigorous – it need not be torturous. Training should equip actors with the ability to perform at the drop of a hat and not depend on the uncertain and unstable foundation Method Acting calls for (in more than one way). The Approach developed by Heller is built on a tried and true tradition that came long before it opened its doors over twenty years ago – a tradition or way of teaching that has shaped the artful presence of many of the greats such as Spencer Tracy, Anne Bancroft, Grace Kelly and Robert Redford – to name but a few.

The Non Method Acting Technique taught at The Heller Approach is based upon the lessons of the late Don Richardson, author of the critically acclaimed book "Acting Without Agony: An Alternative to The Method". Mr. Richardson devised an acting technique that was quite different from the torturous 'Method' – one that teaches another way of arriving at emotions. The fun, non self-dissecting, non method acting technique gives actors a very simple, structured way of working without making acting a complex, traumatic, painful experience. Additionally, it teaches students how to analyze a scene and create the most believable, entertaining characters in a very short period of time. In today's fast paced Hollywood entertainment industry, this is absolutely essential and its importance cannot be overstated enough. The practical tools The Heller Approach equips actors with are manifold and build a solid foundation for individuals pursuing any arena – including Styles of Entertainment, Believability, Scene Study, Emotion, Comedy, and Cold Read/Audition Technique.

"I love acting and teaching acting so much that I want to ensure it's as painless as possible for everyone. Don't get me wrong – it requires work – a LOT of work, but it should be enjoyable," shared Brad Heller. "Not every actor has to be a tortured actor. Countless individuals who aspire to become great actors have had very real traumatic events in their life. They should not have to depend on delving into that part of their psyche each and every time they perform – it is neither practical nor fair to expect that of anyone.
