Once landed with cargo, the standard shipping containers are converted into eight room houses, complete with internal and external doors and internal steel stairways manufactured from steel. The wooden floors are completely removed and in turn replaced with firebrick style floors that are resistant to high temperatures. After this, the 20' and 40' containers are relocated to a fire brigade training site.

Once on the training site, equipment which is used to generate heat and smoke is installed inside the containers in order to simulate real fires, and fire personnel fully equipped with flame retardant clothing and breathing apparatus enter to conduct their training.

Both in France and overseas this fire crew training method has not only proved to be highly successful but also the most cost effective method of training fire crews in a manner that allows the exercise to be repeated multiple times before the container houses require replacing.

Surrey, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/22/2016 -- If plans are approved cheap accommodation could soon be up for grabs in Kirkby, in the form of steel shipping container flats. Planning permission for the area where the shipping container homes are proposed to be is currently for two semi-detached houses; however Japanese knotweed has scared off all investors – making this a likely opportunity.
