Synchrono Director Kirk Studdiford Receives Distinction from Supply and Demand Chain Executive

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/27/2018 -- Synchrono, a leader in modern demand-driven manufacturing software, today announced that Director of Client Services, Kirk Studdiford, has been named a 2018 Pros to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive.

The Supply & Demand Chain Executive Pros to Know Awards recognize supply chain executives, and manufacturing and non-manufacturing enterprises, that are leading initiatives to help prepare their companies' or client's supply chains for the significant challenges of today's business climate.

Studdiford was recognized for his ability to immediately establish creditability with manufacturing operations, supply chain, IT leaders and more based on a career spent implementing and successfully proving the merits of Lean and Demand-Driven Manufacturing principles. "It's extremely satisfying to help customers shift from old paradigms to more modern methods such as Demand-Driven Manufacturing – and measure the results", noted Studdiford. Through his guidance, Synchrono clients have improved on-time delivery, increased production flow, optimized stock buffer and inventory levels, reduced downtime and more. In many cases, Studdiford and his team have saved clients millions annually.

As the head of the Synchrono Client Services team, Kirk is ultimately responsible for customer satisfaction. As such, he takes great care to match the skills of the Synchrono professional services team to the manufacturer's needs and has developed a six-phased methodology to streamline and accelerate the Synchrono software implementation process. Due to the value Studdiford and his team provides, clients began asking for consulting and specialized support services beyond the software implementation process. This led to the development of the Synchrono® InSync™ Program which provides clients with post-implementation consulting services for delivering continuous improvement. Once again, Studdiford developed a process for working with clients to determine their desired outcomes, putting strategies into place and measuring ROI.

"I'm grateful to Supply & Demand Chain Executive for this recognition. My greatest reward comes from working closely with our customers - getting to know their manufacturing operations and supply chain – and guiding them through process and technology improvements that have a substantial monetary impact on their business," Studdiford summarized.

Outsourcing 2018 Trend for Modern Demand Driven Manufacturers According to Synchrono

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/26/2018 -- Synchrono, a leader in modern demand-driven manufacturing software, released its 2018 Top Ten Trends in Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing. One 2018 trend Synchrono sees for demand-driven manufacturers is outsourcing or subcontracting parts of the process to others who can do it faster, better and/or cheaper. The Report notes that the opening of economies and trade routes around the world and advancements in transportation technologies have overcome many of the logistical challenges to outsourcing.

An outsourcing study found that 32% of manufacturers are outsourcing at least 50% of their processes - and attributed real-time visibility and collaboration as keys to success. Manufacturers who outsource part or all of their processes to others need to find ways to synchronize efforts between entities, most of which probably take a different approach to managing operations and almost certainly use different systems. Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturers are leveraging web-based portals and other Cloud-based technologies to enable real-time visibility and synchronization with outsourcing partners, enhancing both collaboration capabilities and overall performance.

Synchrono 2018 Trend for Modern Demand Driven Manufacturers Includes Strategic S&OP and Business Process Planning

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/19/2018 -- Synchrono, a leader in modern demand-driven manufacturing software, released its 2018 Top Ten Trends in Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing. One trend is strategic sales & operations planning (S&OP) and business process planning. Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturers use S&OP tools to model, develop, and compare scenarios for aligning supply and capacity against projected demand. The Report also notes that Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturers are changing the S&OP paradigm from a short-term outlook to a longer-term (months to years).

Analysts covering manufacturing have noted a sharp increase in inquiries around S&OP (as well as the digital supply chain). The Report suggests this may be manufacturers responding to the economic recovery with the desire to be more strategic in planning investments for the organization. To corroborate, over the last year Synchrono experienced more interest in S&OP solutions from multi-national organizations looking to roll up their projected demand for greater negotiation power with their suppliers - and to determine how and where to standardize on production technologies.

Synchrono Shares Enterprise Synchronization Technologies for Modern Demand Driven Manufacturers

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/14/2018 -- Synchrono, a leader in modern demand-driven manufacturing software, released its 2018 Top Ten Trends in Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing. One trend is enterprise synchronization technologies, viewed as the next wave of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The key to understanding how the IIoT can benefit manufacturers lies in understanding that the "things" the IIoT connects include equipment, processes, data and people. The first wave of IIoT implementations focused on collecting data and analyzing it for insights. The next step is to synchronize sources to not only make the data collectively visible, but to apply relevant context to it to drive flow and take immediate, appropriate action when and where required.

Over the course of the year, Synchrono has been responding to an increasing number enterprise-level requests for synchronization in order to provide a real-time, single version of the truth for order status, priorities, production schedules, replenishment and more across multiple facilities, supplier networks and outsourced/contract manufacturers.

Synchrono Sees Digitized Connected Shop Floor as Important 2018 Trend

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/12/2018 -- Synchrono, a leader in modern demand-driven manufacturing software, released its 2018 Top Ten Trends in Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing. One of the 2018 trends is the digitized, connected shop floor.

Manufacturers believe in the power of technology, but need specific, relevant reasons to invest. Demand-Driven Manufacturing and capabilities such as those found in a Manufacturing System of Record (MSOR) are giving manufacturers that reason. Instead of collecting data for data's sake, the MSOR curates' data from multiple sources then serves it up in ways that help the manufacturer achieve goals that are meaningful to them such as predictive maintenance, managing constraints, reducing lead times and improving inventory flow. As a result, we're seeing new intelligent devices springing up all over the shop floor.

Intelligent devices are not only making it easier to gather much-needed data, but they are also improving the productivity of individual workers on the shop floor. For example, instead of requiring a work center operator to decipher a spreadsheet-based production schedule (that is probably out-of-date within minutes of being released) and then adjusting work accordingly, an MSOR can dynamically adjust production schedules to reflect up-to-the-minute information on orders, delivery schedules and production flow.

C-Suite Executives Learn Strategies for Data-Driven Supply Chain Visibility from Synchrono Pros to Know Recipient John Maher

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/14/2017 -- John Maher, Vice President of Product Strategy for Synchrono, the leader in modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing and synchronization technology, is a well-respected supply chain thought leader and Supply Chain Executive Pros to Know. Recently Maher corroborated the findings of The Clear Peak Supply Chain Advisory Council survey.

The imperative for the C-Suite must be to embrace a data-driven culture and disruptive new technologies for driving the emerging connected – and highly visible - supply chain. Maher insists initiation to proven demand-driven methodologies and active management of corporate-culture change for many organizations is the only way to realize transformational value from supply-chain visibility technologies.

Synchrono works with leading lean manufacturing organizations to develop a strategy that focuses on enabling a data-driven culture and encompasses processes, technology, change management, organizational structure, a clear road map, and other key elements. They must establish and support a Center of Excellence around analytics that become the main change agent. There are significant risks in not implementing strategies based on new supply chain visibility technologies. The major ones include loss of market share, deteriorating customer service and reduced profit margins.

Synchrono SyncAlert Software Addresses Costly Production Downtime Issues Ensuring Action and Accountability

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/02/2017 -- SyncAlert software instantly notifies manufacturers of disruptions in production, greatly reducing downtime. The software can connect to any data source to receive event signals from any part of the manufacturing facility and across multi-site environments. When an alert ticket comes in, SyncAlert software sends an email or text message to identified responders, such as quality and maintenance engineers, and begins tracking response time. Issues are then escalated up through the notification chain, as necessary.

Easily configured to alert specific people by shift, SyncAlert software ensures action and accountability, sending help where it is needed, in real-time. Response actions and results are tracked and monitored by the software for escalation as necessary, until the issue is resolved. The data collected is then used for analysis, identifying common disruptions and resolution performance statistics which can be used to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Manufacturers Find Magic Bullet Through Greater Supply Chain Visibility According to Synchrono

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/31/2017 -- The closest any manufacturer can get to the magic bullet of efficiency (collaboration) is through greater supply chain visibility. According to Synchrono, the leader in demand-driven manufacturing software, supply chain visibility means all partners get access to – and share data - in real-time. Visibility to all orders allows suppliers to proactively respond to demand signals. Poor visibility often results in parts shortages and expenses associated with unplanned downtime and expedited shipping methods to get the part back on the shop floor quickly. A real-time view of parts on hand allows a supply chain manager to take action before there is a stock out, eliminating frustration and added costs.

Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturers are leveraging real-time Cloud-based visualization and collaboration systems to view data from multiple, disparate sources while keeping the data in its original, host environment. The value of these visualization systems is in their inherent flexibility. Once the data connections are made, they can be accessed and used (with appropriate permissions) at any point along the end-to-end supply chain spectrum. There is no limit to the data sources that can be connected or how the data can be sliced and diced and made visual to accommodate the different layers and levels of the manufacturing enterprise.

John Maher Vice President of Product Strategy at Synchrono Discusses Demand Driven Factory of the Future

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/26/2017 -- John Maher, Vice President of Product Strategy at Synchrono, Inc. and 2017 Supply & Demand Chain Executive Pros to Know winner, recently authored an article published in Efficient Manufacturing magazine titled, "Synchronizing Production Processes: Creating Demand Driven Factory of the Future." In these manufacturing environments, production planning, scheduling, and execution processes are fully synchronized to the customer's desired delivery date. The synchronized factory is able to quickly adapt to changes in demand and visualize real-time status and order information. Key performance indicators including on-time delivery, inventory turns, increased capacity, and more are positively impacted.

Maher explained how demand-driven manufacturing is a modern manufacturing method where production that is based on actual customer demand (orders). Technology facilitates real-time synchronization of everything (people, method, materials, machines, and data) in order to drive production flow throughout manufacturing operations and the extended supply chain. Data captured is easily accessed and visualized to become real-time decision-driving information.

The power of information is unquestionable. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is already bringing exponential value to manufacturers; McKinsey Global Institute Report noted, "The Internet of Things has the potential to unleash as much as $6.2 trillion in new global economic value annually by 2025." McKinsey also projected that, "Eighty to 100 percent of all manufacturers will be using IIoT applications by 2025, leading to a $2.3 trillion economic impact for the global manufacturing industry alone."

Efficient Manufacturing (EM) is a leading monthly industrial trade magazine on efficient manufacturing and related areas. The magazine is aimed at not only the top-decision-makers, but also engineers and technocrats from the manufacturing fraternity.

Synchrono Best Used for Discrete Lean Manufacturing Operations

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/24/2017 -- This latest post on the Demand-Driven Matters blog outlines several distinctions between process and discrete manufacturing methods. Process manufacturing uses formulations versus Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembles along a routing used by discrete manufacturers.

Discrete manufacturers are typically ETO (engineer-to-order), which includes make-to-stock (MTS), make-to-order (MTO), and assemble-to-order (ATO) production facilities. Because each product manufactured is unique, often requiring on-going modifications and engineering during the manufacturing process, there is a strong requirement for synchronized production planning, scheduling and execution. Without this alignment and real-time tracking of activity and status, operations may degrade and erode profitability.

Process manufacturers blend a batch – often a literal recipe as found in food and beverage manufacturing. Process manufacturers build something that cannot be taken apart; once the cake batter ingredients have been mixed, the ingredients cannot be removed from the finished goods produced. This makes process manufacturers formula-focused. Discrete manufacturers make finished goods that have components that can be taken apart and used in another capacity. Discrete manufacturing can be reversed, while process manufacturing is irreversible.

Synchrono Says Podcast Series Helps Manufacturers Improve Production Flow

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/21/2017 -- Synchrono (http://www.synchrono.com), a leader in modern demand-driven manufacturing software, announced the availability of the fifth installment in the popular series, 5 Key Elements that Drive Flow. All five episodes are now "binge" available through the Demand-Driven Matters podcast.

As the title implies, the series is composed of five episodes; each addressing one of the five elements that work to improve the overall rate of production flow in Demand-Driven Manufacturing. Demand-Driven Manufacturing is a method of manufacturing where the production of goods is based on actual orders (demand) rather than forecast. The method is rapidly gaining adoption with the support of modern software technologies.

Maintaining a constant rate of production flow is critical in driving key performance indicators (KPIs) including throughput and operating expense in the right direction. When flow is interrupted, or there are bottlenecks in the production line, performance is degraded and customer delivery dates suffer. The 5 Key Elements that Drive Flow podcast series combines practical advice and real-world examples to help manufacturers achieve and maintain an optimal rate of production flow.

The Elements addressed are:

1. Controlling the Release. Discusses how traffic jams can be cleared to keep production moving.

2. Synchronize Activities. How Demand-Driven Manufacturing solutions align all elements to complete an order (people, processes, materials, machines) prior to releasing the order into production - and do this while still achieving high on-time delivery rates.

3. Continuous Improvement. Reviews best practice approaches for continuous improvement and its impact on Demand-Driven Manufacturing production flow.

4. Extend to the Supply Chain. Tips for engaging and synchronizing the external supply chain.

5. Align Metrics. Suggested metrics to focus on to improve and maintain an optimal rate of production flow.

Demand-Driven Manufacturers Find Competitive Advantage with End-to-End Visibility

St. Paul, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/03/2017 -- Synchrono demand-driven manufacturing software provides end-to-end supply chain visibility for real-time coordination, communication, and commitment. By applying demand-driven methods and synchronizing processes, Synchrono is seeing manufacturers reaching new levels of communication, profitability, and customer responsiveness.

Demand-Driven Manufacturers focus less on unit-costing measures and more on global effectiveness, taking a more holistic view of the entire production system and extended supply chain. While data silos are still frequently found among discrete manufacturers, those with synchronized systems and processes have more comprehensive, actionable knowledge about their production cycles – and a single version of the truth. This heightened visibility ensures that managing customer orders, expenses, and investments across the enterprise is both accurate and profitable.

Disruptions large and small confront today's supply chains on a daily basis, and organizational survival depends on the ability to anticipate, adapt, and transform supply chains to deliver greater reliability and performance. In modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing environments, the traditional supply chain is transforming into more of a virtual value chain - connecting customers, suppliers, service providers, and contract manufacturers in real-time using Cloud-based technologies that enable end-to-end supply chain visibility. These manufacturers can instantly adapt to demand fluctuations, by sending real-time signals across their supplier network. Beyond the major strategic advantages, these connected supply chains can respond with greater agility to traditional short-term challenges such as shorter lead and replenishment timelines, cost reduction/avoidance strategies, inventory optimization, logistical issues, and more.

Synchrono will present Modern Demand-Driven Manufacturing: Myths, Strategies, and Realities for Enabling Smart Manufacturing as sponsor of the manufacturing technology strategies track at the upcoming IndustryWeek Manufacturing & Technology Conference & Expo from May 8-10 in Cleveland, OH. Synchrono will be exhibiting in booth 424.
