Powersoft Does Heavy Lifting in Major Update to Brooklyn's Basilica of Regina Pacis

Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 brings reliable performance, energy-efficient operation and advanced functionality to landmark church

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/03/2020 -- Dedicated in 1951, the Basilica of Regina Pacis is one of two minor basilicas in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, New York, and serves as a spiritual hub for members the parish of St. Rosalia-Regina Pacis. Located in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, the historic house-of-worship boasts all the hallmarks cathedral-style architecture — a long, narrow nave intersected at right angle by a narrow transept and lined with marble columns bearing a massive arched ceiling, which is decorated with ornate religious murals above and intricate stained glass windows in recessed alcoves above the columns on each side, all of which lead the viewers gaze to a raised semicircular apse beyond the transept.

While the basilica's awe-inspiring architecture, opulent interior and elaborate ornamentation have made it a destination for worshippers and a neighborhood landmark, reverberant spaces like the one in the Basilica of Regina Pacis pose a host of challenges for today's house-of-worship integrators. So, when it came time for Monte Bros. to upgrade to the sound system they previously installed in 2002, Monte Bros.' Steve Minozzi designed the latest system using three Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 amplifier platforms to power all 12 independent zones, over more than 5,000 feet of cable.

"Acoustically, it's extremely difficult to design a sound system for a church like the Basilica of Regina Pacis," Minozzi said. "It's a long, rectangular space with a lot of hard surfaces, a concave ceiling, and a concave sanctuary. That breaks every acoustic rule in the book. But, we have to make the sound system work for the space, and it has to work automatically. So, when it comes to amplification in these kinds of basilicas, we need a heavy lifter. And the Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 is a heavy lifter."

A longstanding relationship
The Quattrocanali amplifier platforms employed in latest Basilica of Regina Pacis system upgrade use Powersoft Smart Rails Management technology, which implements realtime voltage tracking in the power supply to minimize the differences between the output voltage and rails voltage, improving overall efficiency and reducing heat dissipation.

"In 2002, the amplifiers and DSP processors we installed were the top of the line — but that was almost 18 years ago," Minozzi said. "The Quattrocanali has more horsepower and a very low rate of failure. And that's No. 1 concern for a contractor: dependability.

"Heat dispersion is another problem in big installs like this, because they need a lot amplifiers," he continued. "That was a main reason we upgraded the system using the Quattrocanali 1204."

Building on Monte Bros. decades-long partnership with the Basilica of Regina Pacis — starting with a sound system installation in 1989, which they later updated to include DSP processors in 2002 — the most recent upgrade to the church's sound system includes two rows of custom-built speakers designed to blend in with the marble columns on each side of the nave.

"Inside the church, it's a beautiful space," Minozzi said. "And when you put in a new sound system, you obviously don't want to desecrate the appearance in any way. So, when the speaker installation was completed, we had custom grill cloths made to match the beautiful marble columns.

"30 years ago, if you took a powerful amplifier and connected it to speakers without first plugging it into a mixer to control the levels, you would fry the speakers," he explained. "They would go up in a puff of smoke!

"So, one of the other important features of the Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 is that it senses changes in ohmage, because the amplifiers have to deal with changes due to capacitance and other anomalies. Since each bank of speakers is on its own Quattrocanali channel, if one speaker goes bad, the amp will automatically sense the change and readjust. That's why we chose Powersoft."

Powersoft to Celebrate Quarter Century at ISE

The Italian innovator will use its final visit to the RAI in Amsterdam to look back on 25 years as one of the industry's true trailblazers

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/03/2020 -- With a quarter century of innovation to celebrate and a convention centre full of industry professionals in town, this year's ISE (11-14 February) has been chosen as the perfect event to mark a significant achievement for Italian audio and technology visionary, Powersoft.

Over the course of its history, Powersoft has been credited with a number of technological innovations and industry firsts. Just a year into its life, in 1996, the company had already mastered designing and developing the (then) first commercially viable Class-D amplifier, which was able to deliver consistently reliable, high power levels — something that hadn't been achieved until then. This technological breakthrough on switch mode amplification, also helped the company earn a coveted reputation on green power and efficiency, making it the company's trademark to this day.

In the intervening years, the company continued to push the envelope, always conscious of making the most consistent, efficient, and intuitive products imaginable. This resulted in a number of new products and technologies that have since become industry standards, such as the X Series workhorse and the Ottocanali Series, which boasted advanced signal processing and full Dante by Audinate compatibility, or breakaway innovations such as M-Force, Deva or Mover to name a few.

The show floor
Building on the successful launch of Mover at ISE 2019, this year Powersoft will use their pair of stands to showcase the capabilities of their latest products in real-life applications: Commercial and Conferencing

While the first stand (7-Y195) will demonstrate the company's line of renowned fixed install products – including Mover, Mezzo, the Duecanali, Quattrocanali and Ottocanali lines of FI amplifiers – the second stand (7-X205) will be an experiential zone split in two areas: Hospitality and Meeting Room.

The Hospitality Area will feature a sports bar with screens and beer on tap. All audio speakers will be powered by Mezzo, Powersoft's 2/4 channel highly compact, Class-D technology amplifier platform. Packing all the features of an advanced install dedicated amplifier in half the size, Mezzo was designed with ease of installation and operation in mind, and adapts to multiple uses and applications through flexible power routing.

Visitors will be able to pick audio from one of the three screens as the source to play in the entire Hospitality Area. In addition, they will have individual volume controls for the Sports Bar and the Stage Area via GPI controllers on the walls.

Next to the bar area, the Meeting Room will host another screen, which will also be powered by Mezzo. Visitors will be able to select the audio source from either the TV in the Conference Room or the audio played in the Hospitality Area, courtesy of the Mezzo set up. Additionally, they will have a GPI wall controller for the volume in that room.

Back on stand 7-Y195, visitors will be able to see the extensive range of FI amplifiers and get a hand on ArmoniaPlus' latest audio system management software update, which features the HealthPlus tab, a new feature which gives sound engineers a streamlined monitoring environment of all elements in a given sound system with improved communication, control and reporting to ensure the best performance.

This year's ISE will also see the return of Mover - the small yet incredibly powerful linear transducer that can be used in audio applications and, more excitingly, as a linear motor / shaker.

Adaptable to various purposes, including 4D cinemas, theme parks, or venues with vibrating acoustic floors - as well as applications that go beyond entertainment - Mover lets audiences feel the sound through haptic perception by vibrating the surrounding environment, which the human body picks up and, through bone conduction, translating the vibrations into perceivable frequencies.

The Mover platform will again be available for attendees to try on the Powersoft stand, linked to an immersive VR video.

Away from the stand, Powersoft will also be in attendance at the Inavation Awards, where the company is listed as a finalist in the R&D Award category, with company founder and R&D director Claudio Lastrucci also shortlisted for the Industry Influencer of the Year award.

Noevir Stadium Chooses Powersoft for World-Class Sports Events

X8 and Ottocanali amplifiers bring power and precision to celebrated Japanese sports stadium

Kobe, Japan -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/22/2019 -- Since 1970, Kobe City Misaki Park Stadium, also known as the Noevir Stadium, has been the center for major sports events within the city of Kobe. Having recently played host as one of the venues for the Rugby World Cup – a first in Asia – the 30,000-capacity stadium is also home to Andres Iniesta's J1 League club Vissel Kobe and rugby union Top League team Kobelco Steelers. With such an illustrious run of events, and more to come, the audio system at Noevir Stadium recently upgraded their sound systems with Powersoft X8 and Ottocanali amplifiers.

"The audio systems in a modern venue like Noevir Stadium have to be able to handle spoken word, music playback and even commercials," explained Powersoft Business Development Manager for Fixed Install Marc Kocks. "When designing or refurbishing an audio system in a stadium, you have to ensure that it is able to offer both flexibility and scalability. A good place to start is by selecting DSP- and Dante-enabled products, as they allow users to change the function and behavior of the system with the click of a mouse."

Integrator for the project, Shigeyoshi Ariga, specified a total of 24 Powersoft X8's, 6 Ottocanali 12K4 DSP+D's, one Ottocanali 8K4 DSP+D and one Ottocanali 4K4 DSP+D amplifier platforms.

The X8's are used to accommodate the line array systems, while the Ottocanali 12K4 DSP+D are used as an auxiliary speaker for the upper tiers in order to cover any dead space. The 8K4 DSP+D has been included to accommodate any temporary speakers, and 4K4 DSP+D is mainly used to drive the Hi-Z speaker line and monitor speakers in the operating room.

Between them, these amplifiers power a sound system primarily designed to play audio that is related to video content shown on the screens during football and rugby matches, as well as distributing various announcements. The mixer and playback equipment are hidden away in a sound operating room, while the amplifiers are stored in two separate areas. All audio transmission between the operating room and the amplifiers room is taken care of via Dante.

In reference to the challenges faced by the team, in-house system engineer and operator, Fumiaki Yuasa, commented: "The stadium is very difficult to control from a tuning point of view, as it has a lot of reflective surfaces that all get mixed up together. Within ArmoniaPlus, the Raised-cosine filter can help with this aspect under the group function."

Noevir Stadium's retractable roof was another obstacle for the team to overcome, as Yuasa continued: "I tried to create the best conditions with the roof open, which was as complex task because of resonance points at certain frequencies. By using ArmoniaPlus, I was able to create grouping functions in order to turn this complex system into an easy-to-understand one, which in turn allows me to carry out my work more efficiently."

He went on to discuss further strengths of Powersoft's proprietary software: "What I like most about ArmoniaPlus are the Interactive Tuning and Limiter functions. Interactive Tuning in particular is great, as it allows me to fine-tune the synchronization with Smaart v8, which a lot of engineers are currently using, as well as making adjustments while looking at the screen and keeping the system quiet. This is a unique feature and an innovative way to reduce stress on engineers on site, something that has maybe been overlooked by other amplifier platforms."

Shigeyoshi Ariga, engineering department at TOA, was also full of praise for ArmoniaPlus: "It is not uncommon to have the amplifiers room separated from the operating room by quite long distance, and this often makes it difficult to monitor the status of the power amplifiers or the output meter, as well as detect faults remotely. With ArmoniaPlus, we are now able to centrally monitor all of these functions, which was a massive advantage for me."

He continued: "The Workspace in ArmoniaPlus itself is great for us, as the layout of the amplifiers and speakers are graphically arranged and controlled to match the installation situation in the real world. At the same time, the Operator View function was graphically installed according to the same layout as Workspace, so that all of the output headroom could be centrally monitored in one screen."

With no dedicated operator in the stadium, Operator View only displays the headroom meter and the mute function so that someone who is unfamiliar with the management of the stadium can still operate it easily. Functional restrictions have also been put in place to prevent unnecessary changes to the Workspace setup."

Ariga also singled out the Live Impedance Monitoring feature of ArmoniaPlus as being a major strength in applications such as the one at Noevir Stadium. He commented: "Since the impedance frequency characteristics of the load can be visualized and stored by letting the test signal and pink noise flow, the state of the speakers after one or two years can be checked remotely. I believe this will be of great use to us for future maintenance."

Powersoft Appoints Tom Knesel to General Manager, North America

Former MUSIC Tribe executive will focus on systems integration market, development of key accounts and accelerating U.S. growth

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/02/2019 -- Powersoft, the world leader in lightweight and energy efficient amplifier platforms, announced that it has appointed industry veteran Tom Knesel to the position of General Manager, North America. Knesel, who will be located at the company's U.S. headquarters in Kearny, NJ and who will start on October 7th, will report directly to Luca Giorgi, Sales & Business Development Director, Powersoft. The announcement follows the successful relocation of Powersoft's North American headquarters two years ago, and coincides with the company's increased focus on the systems integration market and launch of the Mezzo amplifier platform earlier this year.

"We are very pleased to welcome Tom into the Powersoft family," commented Luca Giorgi. "Two years ago we began a significant restructuring of our U.S. operations, which included relocating our headquarters to the east coast, hiring new operational and sales staff, and realigning our entire North American sales rep network. Having successfully completed these tasks, we are perfectly positioned in this region for sustained growth and net new revenue opportunities."

"Tom brings over two decades of industry experience to his new role as GM, as well as a solid understanding of the overall competitive market context," Giorgi continued. "Further, he shares the same family values as our organization and is committed to leading our U.S. team towards increased success in the U.S.

Before joining Powersoft, Knesel was Regional Business Development Manager, Americas, for MUSIC Tribe and responsible for driving revenue and managing the Americas for the company's commercial audio brands — including Midas, Klark Teknik, Lake, Lab Gruppen, TC Electronics, Tannoy and Turbosound. Prior to that, Knesel spent several years in the manufacturer, design and systems integration markets, serving in both sales and executive roles at companies including Ashly Audio, AE Global Media and others. Knesel studied engineering at Southern Polytechnic State University.

"I am truly excited to be joining such an innovative, close-knit team of professionals," said Knesel. "The most distinguishing factor in Powersoft's brand is its passion. This factor, combined with the experience of our U.S. team and the market- leading innovations coming from our home office in Italy, will continue to differentiate us in the North American region. I look forward to playing an integral role within our global team and helping to accelerate our success."

Luca Giorgi, who has served in a dual role for Powersoft as GM, North America and Sales & Business Development Director for the past two years, will relocate to the company's global headquarters in Florence, Italy at the end of December, and now that the transition is complete, will continue in his role as Sales & Business Director for the global organization.

"This is an exciting time for Powersoft and we welcome Tom to our global executive team," commented Luca Lastrucci, CEO and co-founder of Powersoft. "Our continued growth in this region, combined with our increased focus on the systems integration market, make this an opportune time for Tom to be leading the North American team."

Powerful Faith: St. Gabriel the Sorrowful Mother Church Updates Sound System with Powersoft Quattrocanali Amplifiers

Quattrocanali 1204s ensure reliable, trouble-free system for growing parish

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/17/2019 -- When St. Gabriel the Sorrowful Mother parish of Avondale, PA unveiled their brand-new church in 2002 it was to account for the steady growth they had seen since originally opening in 1988. Boasting 7,500 regular worshippers across their weekly services, the church expanded to meet this demand and installed a new sound system mounted in the church's ceiling in order to reach all of its parishioners. Over the years however, the demands of a spoken liturgy required a different sonic touch which led church leadership to hire Monte Brothers Sound Systems to install a speaker and power amplifier system this year. The Ardlsey, New York-based company, which has made its name creating and building sound systems in places of worship across the country for the past fifty years, designed a system that would strike the delicate balance between volume and intelligibility– one powered by Powersoft Quattrocanali amplifiers.

A voice from above
The church's original system from 2002 favored a top-down approach, with a cluster of three speakers mounted overhead to deliver audio to the parishioners below. Although this achieved the intended effect, over time it became apparent that the setup struggled in a few key areas. "What makes these kinds of spaces difficult is the layout," explained Monte Brothers Project Director Steve Minozzi. "The location of the pulpit strays into the center of the church which makes it hard to design a system that can be mounted up above without having sounds reflections that interact with the microphones."

Aside from creating feedback at the high volumes required, the positioning of the ceiling-mounted speakers also resulted in dead spots where attendees had trouble hearing the mass due to their interactions with how the space had been acoustically treated when it was originally built. "There are vents and cushioning on the seats that were designed to try and help to account for reflections," Minozzi said. "But no matter how much treatment you use, the position of the speakers was going to interact with them, and in the meanwhile it was also creating spots that made audibility difficult."

Realizing that a different approach needed to be taken, Minozzi and his crew removed the ceiling speakers in favor of ones lining the side columns, using a pair CAMM CA-43Ls as the main line arrays and seven CAMM DT-200s as the fill speakers. They also made use of some of the church's existing speakers as well as to ensure that work was done efficiently and cost-effectively. "The position of the main line arrays give us enough throw to have focused sound all the way to the center of the Church," Minozzi said. "We use the DT-200s to fill out the rest of the sound for the seats not immediately in its path, ensuring that the sound is evenly distributed and audible without interacting with the pulpit whatsoever." Sound professionals at the church are able to control the entire system with a simple control panel located behind the alter.

'Powersoft was the amp for us'
At the heart of the system is the Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204, one of several Powersoft amplifiers that Monte Brothers uses regularly in their worship space installs. Minozzi and his team selected them due to their high-power capacity and ability to handle multiple speaker types smoothly. "This church required very powerful amps because it's an acoustically tight space," he explained. "The 1204's have SIGNIFIGANT power and run very smoothly with all of the different speakers in this setup, so they were exactly what was needed to get the job done.

Minozzi went on to explain that he favors using Powersoft products because of their reliability, saying that once he uses them in an install he knows that they're going to work. "Most of our installs use Powersoft amplifiers because they have a very low failure rate and we rarely have to replace them," he said. "The fact that they are so dependable is why we know that Powersoft was the amp for us."

Powersoft Keeps Tabernacle of Glory Amped Up for Four Days with X Series and T Series Amplifier Platforms at University of Miami's Watsco Center

Multi-day worship experience attended by over 8,000 congregants for annual non-denominational worship services, with Powersoft amps working overtime

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/05/2019 -- With locations in Miami, New York, Boston and Haiti, Tabernacle of Glory's non-denominational Christian congregation gathers annually at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida, on the University of Miami campus to celebrate the final four days of its yearly 40-day fast. Throughout four days of worship, song and prayer, guest pastors from all over the world deliver sermons during two four-hour worship services each day, while a seven-piece band playing Haitian Caribbean music keeps the packed house pumped.

In preparation for 8,000-plus congregants filling the Watsco Center, Tabernacle of Glory brought in Lennox Foster from Sound Media to design a system with enough headroom to keep the system volume above the level of crowd noise, while maintaining the speech intelligibility for the pastors and simultaneously supplying enough low-end intensity for the music. Without hesitation, Foster turned to Powersoft's X Series amplifier platform.

"One of the characteristics of this event is that the crowd is very responsive," Foster said, "and the sound system has to have enough dynamic headroom to surpass the crowd noise, which can get up to around 110 dB. When we were working at the event, the amps still had about 12-16 dB of headroom, even when the crowd was at its loudest."

New dimensions of loudspeaker management
Raising the bar in terms of both design and functionality, the Powersoft X Series expands the concept of the amplification platform to include complete loudspeaker management — including all signal processing functions — in a single, lightweight unit, setting the standard for sound quality and usability.

The X Series also includes full Armonia integration, which Foster employed to design the entire sound system at the Watsco Center. With ArmoniaPlus, loudspeaker system designers and operators have powerful new tools to improve sonic performance and system reliability, including customizable, user-friendly setup options, which are flexible in all touring applications. Using ArmoniaPlus, Foster was also able to manage the entire system at the Watsco Center thoughout the day-long services, letting to control and calibrate the speakers into zones and keeping sound at optimum levels.

Making spirits rise
As the largest facility of its kind south of downtown Miami, the 200,000-square-foot Watsco Center is a multipurpose entertainment facility. Built in 2003, the center has since hosted a number of memorable concerts, televised events and awards, including The X Factor and the 2004 Presidential Debates, in addition to having welcomed world renowned figures like His Holiness the Dalai Lama and former U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

To power the array of Turbosound Flashline loudspeakers and subwoofers used at the Watsco Center during the Tabernacle of Glory 40-day fast celebration, Foster employed 18 Powersoft X4 four-channel amplifiers platforms to power 24 flown TurboSound TFS-900H speakers, 18 flown TFA-600L and 16 flown TFA-600H speakers, in addition to 10 TFA-600HW speakers used for front fills. And, to power 24 TurboSound TFS-900L ground subs, Foster used four brand new Powersoft X4L amplifiers, which are able to deliver the highest output voltage and highest output current on the market.

Additionally, for the monitors he employed nine units of the flexible and cost effective T Series amplifier platform, recently launched by Powersoft at the NAMM Show earlier this year. "We chose this combination of TurboSound loudspeakers and Powersoft amplifiers because we needed to cover the whole spectrum of sound, and these are truly full-range loudspeakers," Foster said "It's very in your face."

"The situation throughout Tabernacle of Glory's 40-day fast celebration is very intense," he continued. "There's a lot of demand on the amplifiers to perform in this space at a very high energy level, because this event is very musically based, with a lot for low-frequencies from the subs. But at the same time the amplifiers need to be lightweight and efficient.

"All the Powersoft amps we used performed very well, and were not stressed in any way. In addition, these amps gave us a small footprint on the floor, with less power draw than other amplifiers."

Future Sounds: Jupiter Disco Boasts Crystal Clear Grooves with Powersoft M-Series Amplifiers

Sci-fi themed bar curates a unique aesthetic with powerful sound to match

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/28/2019 -- Brooklyn's Jupiter Disco is a New York City club with a twist: instead of mimicking the look and feel of a dive bar from the city's storied past like so many others, owners Maks Pazuniak and Al Sotack built a room that looks to the future with a dystopian science fiction-derived aesthetic that wouldn't look out of place in a Phillip K. Dick novel or a Star Wars film. Complimenting the collection of LED screens, vintage electronics, and moody lighting is an impressive sound system designed by House Under Magic's Danny Taylor, which utilizes Powersoft M20D power amplifiers to provide the variety of genre-bending DJ's and performers booked by Jupiter Disco with enough power to launch the club into orbit.

Feeling the energy
The impetus for the Jupiter Disco, which first opened its doors in 2016, was to have a place that reflected Pazuniak and Sotack's shared love of sci-fi novels and outdated electronics. "It all came about very organically," said Sotack. "This was just all the stuff that we loved and that we'd become friends over, so it made sense that it would spill out into something that we'd make." The partners were introduced to Taylor through a mutual friend, and from there they began brainstorming an appropriate sound system for their new space.

Taylor approached designing the sound system with two main goals: Ensuring that there was enough power and precision in the system to deliver high volume in a focused fashion and making sure that all the elements fit the look and feel of the room without disrupting the theme. "The space was chosen because it's a steel and concrete box, which is the right look for a 'run down bar in 2065'," Taylor explained. "That being said, it's not an ideal acoustic area, so the goal was to find a way to make sure we were able to have a full volume dance floor without blowing everyone's hearing out."

An added challenge was that whatever system he installed would need the power amplifiers to be able to handle fast transients to account for the enclosed nature of the room, which required careful position of speakers to ensure that the right areas were fully covered without bleeding into the bar. "You're trying to move a large volume of air in a small space quickly," Taylor said. "At the same time, you want to fill out the low end in a full way so that people are feeling the energy of the room without having to be right in the 'sweet spot' of the dance floor or being unable to order a drink at the bar."

Power and precision where it counts
The bedrock of Jupiter Disco's sound system is a trio of Powersoft MD20D power amplifiers – one for the mains, one for the subs, and one for the satellite subs -- powering a selection of uncovered Danley and Bose speakers and running through a custom-designed rotary mixer running through a VCA compressor. Taylor selected the MD20Ds for their power and reliability as well as their ability to deliver the signal in the purest possible way. "The design point of this entire system was to have as much clean power as possible without a lot of internal DSP," he explained. "What's great about the MD20Ds is that they are just pure, clean, unbiased power. They give out exactly what you are putting into it without adding any coloration, which allows the character and compression to come from the front end of the system."

In addition to providing the club with the clean power required, the system can also handle the fast transients required for the room, allowing visiting DJs the ability to provide a healthy variety of music that is well tuned to the space as well as make use of modular synths or drum machines to enhance their sets. "The MD20s react to fast transients really well without any lag time," Taylor said. "They are also barely being pushed to their capacity, which means we have a lot of power in reserve if someone really wants to push it."

Sweetheart of the Rodeo: Kesler Sound Brings Focused Low End to Western Events with Powersoft's M-Force

Alberta-Based Sound Production Company Specializes in Western Events

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/27/2019 -- Kesler Sound has become the go-to sound production provider for Western events in Alberta, Canada and the neighboring territories across the border in the United States. Part of what has made Kesler Sound so successful has been their embrace of the changing and unpredictable nature of these events as they've transformed from the dusty rodeos of yore to modern-day multimedia events that incorporate a loud and varying soundtrack alongside live performers, announcers, and the traditional livestock entertainment that has kept large crowds in attendance season after season. Kesler Sound's latest innovation has been their implementation of the Powersoft M-Force transducer in their custom-made subwoofer boxes, a development which has changed the way they provide their services for these types of events.

The Changing Face of Rodeo
"The Rodeo-style event has been changing. It's much more of a production than it was in the past," explained Kesler Sound founder Kurtis Kesler "In addition to the abundance of music we have going during the events now, we also have to accommodate announcers and live entertainers. The dynamics are always changing, and it pushes systems – HARD." Kesler, who has spent the last twelve years building his own sound systems and providing audio for Western events, realized early on that the demands of these events were different from a typical live concert or performance. Not only did they require a high-quality system that would be clear and audible over distance, but they needed to be rugged to handle the physical realities of these events including dust, mud, and the fact that no inclement weather would ever cancel an event.

Story image
"We're out in the dust every day and the show goes on whether it's rain or shine," said Kesler. "We've designed all of our systems to be IP65 rated for dust and rain so that no matter what happens, they're still reliable under these conditions and are still able to maintain complete sonic quality." A big part of this sonic quality has been his application of Powersoft's M-Force transducers in his custom-designed boxes, a design which has utilized M-Force's high-efficiency moving magnet design to deliver the crisp low-end that Kesler requires at a power level and quality that has allowed him to forgo the traditional double 18" design and ultimately save space and cost.

Snappy and Versatile
Kesler initially reached out to Powersoft about working with M-Force in 2016, designing his first box and testing it out at his shows that summer. He was immediately impressed by the quality and found himself tweaking his designs back and forth while sharing his findings with Powersoft. "They were so welcoming, and I wouldn't be where I am today without that. Even though I was a small company that was just starting out, they were always supportive and responsive to any questions or ideas that I had."

Story image
Kesler's sub box, which is 34" square and weighs 210 pounds, has been deliberately tuned for a crisp and tight low end rather than a seat-shaking one, allowing him to accommodate the wide variety of music choices that are now found at the types of events that he works. "In a rodeo you can go from classic rock, to country, to pop, so you have to be able to cover everything," he said. "Although it has the ability to drop to 30 hz for a nice rumble if needed, I was focused on a box that could do all types of music equally. By using M-Force I was able to get better detail and articulation out of it than I would a traditional double 18". They're really amazing."

Kesler's M-Force equipped sub boxes have also allowed him to dramatically cut down on the number of subs required for the events he works, which he says would traditionally require quadruple the number of boxes for a 5-6,000-person event. Doing so has not only allowed him to deliver the same power and quality with less equipment, but it has also made his work more cost-effective as he requires less transportation and set-up to deliver the high-quality sound that he has become known for – something that occasionally requires him to win over a few skeptics. "My favorite reaction is showing up to an event and having people say, 'You only brought four subs with you?' only to have them hear it and have their socks knocked off," Kesler said.

Kesler runs his systems with Powersoft's ArmoniaPlus software using a single Cat5 cable that encompasses a digital AES signal, analog audio signal, and full system control. As he's continued to innovate he's made his systems smaller and more efficient, all while continuing to design them to be rugged and weather ready for whatever nature has to throw at him. "I got so hooked on the challenge of designing these things," he said. "It's always changing and that's what's exciting to me, and if you're able to come at it with fresh ideas people really see what you're capable of, and that's really rewarding."

Powersoft Provides High-Density Amplification Solution at McMenamin's Elks Temple Spanish Ballroom

Regional craft brewery and hospitality group has turned the historic Tacoma icon into a 21st century touring destination, relying on Quattrocanali amplifier platform

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/31/2019 -- Since it opened last April, McMenamin's Elks Temple Spanish Ballroom has become a go-to stop for artists touring the Pacific Northwest. Now a destination venue with Powersoft's Quattrocanali platform, the Spanish Ballroom once served a different purpose but now hosts a wide variety of events.

Housed in a century-old Tacoma landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the city's Elks Temple was designed in the second Renaissance Revival style by Edouard Frere Champney and built in 1916 to house the local Elks fraternal organization. But, in the years since the organization moved into a new location in 1965, the abandoned temple fell into disrepair, until McMenamin's — an Ashland, Oregon-based craft brewery that has built a chain of bars, restaurants and hotels with a series of successful real-estate revival projects — completely renovated the structure and turned its Spanish Ballroom into a fully up-to-date live music venue, powered by Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 amplifier platforms.

Making it easier for touring engineers

With the Spanish Ballroom installation, Portland-based integrator Tone Proper AV further established its relationship with McMenamin's, serving as the craft brewery and hospitality group's equipment provider, designer and installer for the company's large venue touring systems.

Tone Proper AV owner Nick Moon, who also installed the sound system at McMenamin's Crystal Ballroom in Portland, based the Spanish Ballroom's rig on an update to his earlier design. "The Crystal Ballroom is a staple in Portland, where pretty much everybody who's anybody plays," Moon said. "The Spanish Ballroom is basically an extension of that idea, but in Tacoma. Now, when bands are touring across the country, they can hit Portland and Tacoma and keep going. So, the bands' engineer can walk in, play the Crystal on a Friday night, then drive up to the Elks Temple Spanish Ballroom the next night. They can just drop in their USB drive and load in on the console, and they're basically going to get the same experience, consistency-wise."

McMenamin's Spanish Ballroom employs 12 Fulcrum FW-15 monitors powered by four Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 amplifiers. Using three channels per amp to power all 12 monitors – with the additional channel on each amp powering the sound system's ancillary equipment – Moon made the best of what would have otherwise been a much more difficult load-in and installation process had it not been for Powersoft's high-density amplification platforms.

"With Powersoft's Quattrocanali platform, you can get a lot of amp channels in a small space," Moon said. "The big thing for me is amp density – and, of course, sound quality. What Powersoft is doing with their amplifier platforms is pretty revolutionary. A lot of companies will sacrifice something in order to go for a smaller form factor; but what I like about Powersoft is that we don't have to give up something to get it."

After deciding to use the new monitors on the Spanish Ballroom, Moon needed to be able to get 12 individual 1250-watt processed channels of monitor mixes in four rack spaces. "For a lot of other manufacturers, that would be a two-channel amp with two rack spaces, so you'd need three times the amount of rack space to do what just four Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804s are doing. The processing is super powerful. You can put a ton of juice into one rack space and run the Quattrocanali 4804s full-out, and they'll barely have their fans running. And, of course, they're super efficient. When they're in idle mode they run on extremely low power, so you don't have to worry about heating up the room if you're using the system all day."

Moon completed the installation by inputting the tuning file provided by the monitor manufacturer into Powersoft's ArmoniaPlus System Manager software and making his adjustments to the EQ within ArmoniaPlus. "If you make adjustments directly on the console, then a front-of-house engineer can mess with it," Moon said. "But if you do it in Armonia and save it as a preset, somebody walking into the venue doesn't have the ability to change any of the house curve." Using ArmoniaPlus, he increased the high pass settings on the original tuning file to mitigate any potential low-end problems in the historic ballroom. "We made our own high pass, because there are already four 18-inch speakers on the stage, and we wanted to take a little bit of low end off the stage."

Smaller footprint requires less manpower

Renovating the Tacoma Elks Temple required a significant effort on the McMenamin's part, and turning the Spanish Ballroom into a destination venue was no exception for Tone Proper AV. "Any time I walk into a building that's really unique, I instantly get heartburn, because I know it's probably going to be an engineering nightmare," Moon said. Without ramps available to wheel equipment into the venue, Moon needed a lot more manpower than usual to muscle the pre-built rig up the venue's steps.

"There was no loading dock, and we had to carry everything up and down stairs; and, since we pre-build a lot of the cable looms and do all the soldering our shop, we basically bring a working rig that we deploy and plug in, so it's a lot heavier than just taking individual pieces up and then racking them. It required a lot to get everything in.

"McMenamin's takes these old buildings and turns them into awesome venue's, hotels and bars. It's what they do. But, because they're old buildings, and they're not really designed with monitor engineers in mind, everything has to fit into a small footprint. And since monitor desk consists of the main 52-channel split, and right next to that are all the monitor amplifiers, to be able to have all the monitor amplifiers take up only four rack spaces for 12 mixes is amazing. The Quattrocanali 4804 is a juggernaut."

Powersoft to Demonstrate Mezzo Amplifier Platform at Cedia Expo

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/23/2019 -- Italian audio innovator Powersoft (CEDIA EXPO: Booth 335] will demonstrate its newest amplifier platform at CEDIA EXPO between 12 and 14 September. Mezzo is a highly reliable and flexible system from one of the leading innovators in amplifier technology – and an ideal fit for integrators working in the home and residential integration markets.

Built in a svelte, half-rack enclosure and sporting plenty of connectivity options, Mezzo is expressly designed for the AV/IT markets, and perfect for home and residential installations. The new line consists of eight amplifier models in all, each offering different power and connectivity options. While Mezzo is capable of delivering an unprecedented degree of power and flexibility in a highly compact design, it is self-configuring and simple to operate. Further, the system can be operated and monitored remotely, making it ideal for integrators seeking reduced installation times and more efficient deployment of A/V staff in the field.

"We are pleased to be introducing such a powerful and compact amplifier solution for the residential market," commented Klas Dalbjorn, product manager, Powersoft. "Mezzo embraces all the heritage and innovation Powersoft is already known for, but in a form factor that is perfectly suited for fixed installations. Throughout our R&D phase, we listened to the very specific needs of home and residential integrators and we believe Mezzo coveres these needs, while bringing unmatched reliability and ROI."

Mezzo: powered to fit your needs
The eight available models in the new Mezzo line consist of four power sizes, each offering an option with 'A' (analog) or 'AD' (analog-digital), which adds Dante/AES67. The power sizes include smaller option of 320W in 4 x 80W and 2 x 160W variants, and a larger option of 600W in 4 x 150 or 2 x 300W. All of the eight models are networkable and feature automatic setup for audio parameters, significantly reducing deployment time during installation. Further, all of the units offer load monitoring, so users can monitor system parameters such as temperature, power usage and performance over time. These parameters can be monitored and controlled via Powersoft's own ArmoniaPlus System Manager, or through an external control system or a plug-in in a DSP matrix platform.

The AD models include Dante and AES67 integration, and also add an internal Gigabit Ethernet switch and a second port, meaning that multiple products can share the same network cable. This feature can convenient in a retrofit, or if the user needs to share a network connection between a projector and an amplifier for instance.

Perhaps most impressive is Mezzo's overall flexibility and power sharing capabilities. The smaller 320W power sized models are able to deliver 80/160W per channel into 2, 4, 8 or 16 ohms as well as 100, 70 or 25V. Meantime, the larger 600W power sized models can deliver 4 x 150W or 2 x 300W, and can drive two 16 ohm as well as 25, 70 or 100V. While this is impressive in terms of flexibility, each channel has sufficient headroom for power sharing according to the specific installation needs. This means one model can drive zones of varying sizes, and design changes can be accommodated on the fly without having to alter equipment choice.

Flexible installation scenarios to suit your needs
Mezzo also features equally impressive installation options. Each unit comes with rack mount accessories to fit two units into a standard 19" rack, or 1 unit in a 11" compact rack. Alternatively, the unit can stand alone on rubber feet in a credenza or be mounted on the wall - behind a video screen, for instance. The unit is ultra-quiet and requires no ventilation and can therefore be used in dusty environments, under a desk or in locations where an audio closet may not available. Further, in terms of performance, Mezzo also delivers enough power to drive many subwoofers. This potentially means a significant space savings in locations that will no longer require 19" racks.

Church of the Presentation Relies on Powersoft to Overcome Acoustical Obstacles

Installation employs proprietary network technology providing remote system monitoring and audio streaming capabilities

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/03/2019 -- Founded in 1961, Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, began with a congregation of 270 families. Since then, it has brought together more than a dozen times that number of families over the last half-century, making it the largest parish in the Archdiocese of Newark — but, until recently, the church had not made any significant renovations to its original design. Rather than build a new church altogether, the parish raised over $6 million to overhaul the original building in order to accommodate its growing flock, and in early 2017 crews began construction on an ambitious design intended to open up more available seating for the burgeoning congregation. However, the design for the new worship space created a unique set of acoustical challenges when it came to plotting out and installing the renovated church's sound system, which is powered by Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 amplifier platforms.

Not your average house-of-worship
While Church of the Presentation was originally designed in an L-shape made up of two separate, rectangular spaces — a more narrow, traditional worship space on one side and a boxier, 800-seat auditorium and meeting space on the other, separated by an 84-foot interior wall at the right angle where the two spaces meet — the renovation architects had to find a way to create more space for larger services, yet still allow the auditorium to operate independently from the usual worship space when additional seating is not required. To accomplish this feat, they came up with an innovative set of solutions: To remove the wall and architectural trusses separating the auditorium from the church, build a new 40-foot-high glass and steel narthex extending out from the right angle formed where the original rectangular spaces meet, and then move the altar to a pivot point in the corner facing the two largest seating areas, forming a 90-degree contiguous worship space with the original nave to the left of the altar, the newly built narthex in the center and the open auditorium space on the right extending back past the pews in the transept, giving all available seating areas a clear sightline to the altar. In addition, the plans included installation of a moveable soundproof wall, providing the option to separate the auditorium from the nave, or — when opened for larger church services — to supply enough seating for a total of just over 1,200 congregants.

"The church, having a rectangular shape, has different acoustics when the moveable wall is there than it has when the wall is not there," said Steve Minozzi, co-owner of Monte Bros., the Westchester, New York-based audio systems design and integration firm that performed the installation. "When the church and the auditorium are together, the sound system requires a whole different configuration of time alignment and EQ, because the two discreet spaces have different acoustical properties."

Monte Bros. came on board during the early stages of the renovation to pinpoint the most effective speaker locations before construction began. Based on the integrator's database of house-of-worship system blueprints, Monte Bros. designed a hybrid point-source/distributed speaker sound system for each of the possible configurations distributed to over 12 zones, using an estimated 15,000 feet of cable wire. "Because of the amount of power required for that amount of wire, and because all of 12 zones had to be amplified independently, we needed an amp that could handle it," Minozzi said. "That's one of the reasons we chose Powersoft."

Using three Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 four-channel amplifier platforms, Monte Bros. powered each zone with one discreet channel per zone. "We use the Quattrocanali amps because, first of all, they are highly reliable," he said. "For us, dependability is extremely important. And when it comes to the support we get from the manufacturer, Powersoft gets an A+. I don't get music on hold or a robot when I call. Powersoft operates on a human level. That's what I need, and that's what any contractor needs."

Value added: security and streaming capabilities
While reliability, power and build quality — in addition to top-notch customer support — have become some of the main reasons Monte Bros. recommends Powersoft in many of its house of worship installations, Minozzi specifically chose Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 amplifier platforms for Church of the Presentation in order to provide it with an additional service.

"In a space as big as Church of the Presentation, an owner may not know when a speaker is not working until people start to complain," Minozzi said. "That's a typical sound system company's scenario. At Monte Brothers, we offer houses of worship our ability to monitor that sound system remotely, so that, if a speaker goes down, we will be notified through the Ubiquiti cloud – an intellectual property we built. But in order to do that, the amplifier has to have that capability."

Monte Bros. partnered with Powersoft to develop a technology to be able use the integrator's proprietary monitoring system in Church of the Presentation, and to have the ability offer it to other houses of worship in future installations."Ubiquiti Networks Secure Remote Access System is an intellectual property that our technicians developed because we've done work for the NYPD since 1995," Minozzi explained. "After 9/11, we were commissioned to build an independent communications network that couldn't be taken down if something like that ever happened again. And it required that, at every precinct, if anything became disconnected we would be notified."

The Ubiquiti network security feature — which Powersoft is currently fine-tuning for future Monte Bros. house-of-worship installations using Quattrocanali amplifier platforms — will also allow audio streaming of church services through the Ubiquiti cloud. "Say an older person passes away, and they have friends that live in Florida who can't make it to the funeral in New Jersey, but they have a smartphone. Through the proprietary technology we developed, the friends in Florida will have the ability to listen to the audio from the funeral using an app on their smartphone, which is a capability we've developed with Powersoft for the Quattrocanali."

Powersoft Unveils Mezzo at InfoComm 2019

Announcing the Ultimate Smart Solution for Corporate, Hospitality, Education

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/02/2019 -- Italian audio innovator Powersoft unveiled its newest amplifier platform at InfoComm 2019 [Booth 6681, West Level 2] during a press conference today for industry media and VIP guests. Mezzo, a new line expressly designed for the AV/IT market, consists of eight amplifier models, each offering different power and connectivity options. Mezzo, which is perfectly suited for corporate, hospitality and educational environments, is a self-configuring amplifier system that delivers unprecedented power and flexibility in a highly compact, Class-D technology design that is easy to install and operate.

Mezzo is a highly reliable and flexible system from one of the leading innovators in amplifier technology — making it ideal for a range of fixed application scenarios. Further, Mezzo is simple to set up and can be monitored remotely, making it attractive to integrators seeking reduced installation times and more efficient deployment of A/V staff in the field.

"Until now, AV/IT integrators and end-users might have experienced limited flexibility in existing low power solutions to drive audio in corporate, hospitality and education environments," commented Klas Dalbjorn, Product Manager, Powersoft. "Our new Mezzo platform delivers the quality and reliability Powersoft is already known for, but with smaller power configurations that are highly adaptable for a range of different fixed installation environments. We recognize there are many system designers and integrators that seldom need more than 250W and can often make do on as little 15W on a channel — Mezzo covers these needs."

The eight available models in the new Mezzo line consist of four power sizes, each offering an option with "A" (Analog) or "AD" (Analog-Digital), which adds Dante/AES67. These parameters can be monitored and controlled via Powersoft's own Armonia system manager, or through an external control system or a plug-in in a DSP matrix platform.

This means one model can drive zones of varying sizes, and design changes can be accommodated 'on the fly' without having to alter equipment choice.

Mezzo: maximum flexibility where it counts
"The power sharing capabilities of Mezzo offer the maximum flexibility in allocating power to different channels," explains Marc Kocks, Powersoft's Business Development Manager. "Many times, users can be faced with a system that has a couple very hungry loudspeakers, and then one or two in adjacent areas that don't require as much power. Mezzo will automatically recognize high impedance and low impedance loads and configure the system to accommodate these variances. This means greater power efficiency and significantly less set up time."

Mezzo also features equally impressive installation options. Each unit comes with rack mount accessories to fit two units into a standard 19" rack, or 1 unit in a 11" compact rack. Alternatively, the unit can stand alone on rubber feet in a credenza or be mounted on the wall — for instance behind a video screen.

"Many fixed installation environments these days consist of both analog and digital," Kocks continued. "Mezzo is perfect for these environments, since it can accommodate inputs on both analog and digital. Further, each Mezzo can be set up as a decentralized unit, enabling each unit to be part of a larger system with local feeds from Dante network. This can lead to massive cost savings in cabling expenses as well as significantly increased monitoring and control functionality. A user can retain full control over features as if it was a centralized rig."
Mezzo is priced starting from $915 (USD MSRP)

Powersoft and Atk Celebrate Ten Years of Innovation and Partnership

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/10/2019 -- Ten years ago, Italian amplifier pioneer Powersoft began a fruitful relationship with Valencia, CA-based ATK Audiotek — a company specializing in live audio for high profile special events, touring and television production. A decade later, the two companies — both leaders in their respective fields — continue to collaborate and pursue mutually beneficial opportunities in the pro audio sphere.

As a global integrator and rental company, ATK has provided audio services for high profile events including the Super Bowl, The Grammys, the Republican and Democratic conventions, and many others. Over the course of the companies' ten-year relationship, Powersoft has driven revolutionary changes in amplifier technology and systems design, including unparalleled power efficiency, comprehensive software control, the industry-wide adoption of networked audio among many other innovations.

Aligning on a vision
The two companies began working together in 2009 after ATK's VP of Engineering, Scott Harmala finally tested an amplifier from Powersoft at the urging of one of his trusted colleagues: "I started testing it, and I just couldn't believe what I was testing — it just seemed too good to be true," Harmala recalls. "So I started considering the idea that maybe Powersoft should be in the running for the new amplifier purchase I was about to make. I started working through the process with Claudio Lastrucci of Powersoft, who was very responsive."

The timing was right, since Harmala had been pursuing a unified amplifier platform. "I was tired of having all these different amp sizes and configurations, different racks and systems. We had so much inflow and outflow of inventory on a daily basis, and it was logistically challenging having so many unique components. It is so much easier when you have fewer unique elements and a more unified approach. So I just started driving the idea in that direction and everybody internally seemed to be on board with it." ATK soon pulled the trigger on an order of 500 Powersoft K10 amplifiers as its first Powersoft order, which was at the time the amplifier manufacturer's largest order to date. Now, ATK has 579 Powersoft K10s and 12 X4 DSP+ Dante amplifiers in its active inventory.

Opening the doors to shared innovation
Originally, Harmala wanted the amps to be without DSP, because of ATK's existing inventory and how systems were being used at the time. But after a year of having the K10s, and as their events became more sophisticated, Harmala begin populating them with DSP cards so they could build presets for all the speakers they were serving. "We saw a great advantage to having the DSP handled internally and moving towards more of a distributed processing arrangement and I wanted Powersoft to be on board with this approach. They had Mario DiCola helped build the first iteration of Armoni?a, which I felt was a very positive step forward and one of the big reasons that I committed to what they were doing."

The subsequently successful development of the Armoni?a software platform — which ATK was an early beta tester of — led to increased flexibility in amplifier deployments, as well as a deepened relationship between both companies. "Integrating DSP into the amplifiers was a massive change for our infrastructure and our way of doing things, but it allowed us so much more granularity and flexibility, while having seamless control of all our Powersoft amps."

The collaboration between Powersoft and ATK led to further innovations, such as was when ATK required the ability to load presets onto Powersoft amp platforms: "ATK very often has many different requirements for its monitor, systems and monitor engineers," comments Kurt Metzler, U.S. Sales Director, Powersoft. "Each of these may require specific presets, so they needed a really fast and easy way to load these in on our X Series platform. Based on this feedback, we built a software platform that can load up 100 presets almost instantly using the USB plug on front of the interface. So their specific request and desired application drove us to create this solution."

For the 2016 Super Bowl halftime performance, ATK brought in eight of their Mario DiCola designed subs — complete with M-Force technology — placing them in a 360-degree configuration around the stadium. Powersoft's Kurt Metzler ended up getting a compliment on the system performance from a highly esteemed colleague: "He called me up out of the blue and said, 'Hey Kurt, I was at the Super Bowl and I heard those Powersoft M-Force speakers. It was unreal what a difference it made. Nobody has ever heard a stadium with that kind of extension in the low end,' and this guy had done countless stadiums and installs. The fact that ATK pulled this off was a great example of how they are always pushing the envelope on audio. We were proud to have our technology behind this effort of course."

Building on a foundation of reliability
While features and functionality can often make set up and deployment more efficient, Harmala doesn't mince words when it comes to his most important consideration in amplifier selection: "In my mind, reliability is always the top consideration in amplifier performance, and an area where Powersoft has consistently excelled." Since working with Powersoft, ATK has experienced failure rates of less .5 percent of its inventory per year. "For ATK, reliability is mission critical — if something fails, that's it," adds Metzler. "And Powersoft will jump through any hoop we need to if there is any sort of problem — that's the kind of relationship we have. If there is ever a problem, we will do whatever we have to do to make things right."

When asked about what the future may hold between the two companies, Harmala becomes philosophical: "I think our industry has become quite a bit more sophisticated and the digital era has raised the bar in our industry, both in digital consoles and in digital distribution. It has become more technically challenging and it requires more education and understanding, but everybody in our industry now has more capabilities and more power to do more difficult things. Everybody is accustomed to working this way now, and there is no going back."

"In terms of amplifiers, it is important to keep things efficient, small, light and powerful," he continues. "Powersoft keeps on pushing the envelope in that direction, and I think they are well ahead of all the other manufacturers in power density and efficiency." That is what caught my eye ten years ago, and I think they are an industry leader. There are others now that are trying to catch up, but Powersoft is still ahead. The rest is history. We've been using them ever since and having great success.

For its part, Powersoft has been privileged to work alongside ATK, according to Metzler. "ATK has been invaluable to us for beta testing new products and sharing candid feedback on our successes and failures. We depend on this open feedback and it has led to us going down different technological paths. There are many things coming that they will be a part of, and they will continue to help us shape new innovations and customer experiences."

Boston's Cathedral of the Holy Cross Chooses Powersoft for Historic Renovation

YEARLONG PROJECT COMPLETED IN TIME FOR CATHOLICTV'S CHRISM MASS BROADCAST TO OVER 30 MILLION VIEWERS WORLDWIDE

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/03/2019 -- As the largest church of any faith in New England, Cathedral of the Holy Cross has long served as an important gathering place and "Mother Church" for Catholics living in the Archdiocese of Boston. Since its dedication in 1875 however, the structure's Upper Church has received relatively little refurbishment — until 2018, when crews began an extensive renovation project of the 150-year-old Gothic revival structure. This renovation importantly included a full-scale overhaul of the Cathedral's sound system, which is now powered by Powersoft Ottocanali 1204 amplifiers and a custom designed line-array employing Powersoft D-Cell 504 2-/4-channel amp modules with onboard DSP and controlled by Powersoft's Armonia software. The results of the renovation were debuted to over 30 million viewers worldwide via CatholicTV's filmed broadcast of the Chrism Mass held at Cathedral of the Holy Cross on April 19.

Creating an Aural Anchor
Evan Landry, CTO and President of Landry Audio Division, Commlink Integration Corporation, designed the new sound system for Cathedral of the Holy Cross around a custom unit based on a column of two Innovox MicroBeam 32 units, which serves as a focal point for the entire sound system. "The primary focus of the system acts as an acoustic anchor, so that all the sound sounds like it's coming from the chancel — the place where it looks like it's coming from," Landry said. "The purpose of this setup is to increase listener engagement, clarity and intelligibility." Due to dimensional limitations in the Cathedral, the custom MicroBeam system uses 52 elements — rather than the 64 that are normally used — and makes use of Powersoft's D-Cell 504 module, which provides processing and power for the dipole spaced low frequency section and processed line level outputs used with the Cathedral's custom MicroBeam.

The Innovox MicroBeam steerable line array uses 26 active mid-/low-frequency elements (2.75-inch cone drivers), which are powered by Powersoft D-Cell 504 modules, and 26 high-frequency elements (3.25-inch ribbon drivers). "Virtually everything Innovox does as a company uses either ribbon or AMT [Air Motion Transformer]-type high-frequency elements," said Chris Oswood, owner of Innovox Audio. "We do this for the principle reason of improved transient response over conventional means, and that has everything to do with delivering the speech chain to the listener without the degradation that results in loss of articulation. We do that to keep the transient information present, and to optimize for speech clarity — but it has a kind of corollary benefit, which is clarity and detail in musical reproduction.

"We use the D-Cell modules in our MicroBeam designs primarily because of the sound quality of the processor and amplifier sections," Oswood continued. "Additional benefits that we find useful are the form factor, small physical size and power density of the modules. Many of our products are columnar in shape, and these modules are easily integrated as a result."

To carry the sound coverage from the chancel through the 200 feet extending back to the rear of the nave, Landry and Oswood installed 18 additional Innovox line arrays — one for each of the support columns running along the aisle. For powering each of the support line arrays along the columns, an additional five channels of monitors, plus another speaker acting as a mirror image of the acoustic anchor, they chose Powersoft Ottocanali 1204 amplifiers.

"We knew that we needed one discreet channel per speaker in the column, because we needed to have them appropriately delayed from the perspective of the MicroBeam," Landry said. "There are 18 columns that essentially have to have unique delay times, so we knew our channel count was going to be high, and we knew the amount of power we were going to need was going to be relatively low, since the column speakers were just used for articulation extension. The Ottocanali 1204 had the combination of high channel count and low power channels, while maintaining the sound quality that we needed to make this a world-class installation."

More Than Just Sound Quality
Oswood said that it's not just sound quality that keeps him using Powersoft amplifiers on other house of worship projects in which Landry installs his Innovox speakers. "We certainly encourage the use of Powersoft," Oswood said. "The difference in sound quality between Powersoft and other manufacturers is significant, and — in my opinion — really under-appreciated in the industry.

"Build quality is also very high with the product, as well as the package density. Often various parties in projects really battle for rack unit real estate, and high power density is really helpful on these projects. The efficiency of the product is not lost on us either, in terms of power consumption over time, cost to operate, and environmental considerations. That's another area, of course, where Powersoft is leading — but the real driver for us is sound quality."

And, to set up the system's DSP, Oswood used Powersoft Armonia software, which he's gotten to know well by now. "We use Armonia routinely in other products by Powersoft," he said. "It's a very easy-to-use platform, and it has a lot of flexibility. We're kind of lumping together a number of things when we talk about sound quality, but that refers to the quality of the amplifier sections, as well as the sound quality of the DSP. And the quality of the Ottocanali DSP is very high."

Powersoft to Debut Raft of Products at Prolight+Sound 2019

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/01/2019 -- Powersoft will return to Messe Frankfurt in force for this year's Prolight + Sound (PL+S) with a full suite of industry audio solutions, including the brand new X4L amplifier; the LOTO DSP 1-2 in / 4 out Advanced DSP board; the DSP-Lite ETH 1-2 in / 3 out DSP interface; and an update for its Snapshot Selector mobile app.

The company's stand, which can be found in Hall 8.0 (G40), will also feature some of its more established products, including the T Series amplifier platform.

X4L. As the latest addition to Powersoft's already enviable range of amplifiers, the X4L, has been created to drive modern high SPL woofers that require very high voltage in order to deliver their full potential. The product is specifically designed to deliver up to 300 V (peak) to the loudspeakers, which translates to more audible impact from the music itself.

Loudspeakers like this are also very reactive, which means a lot of the energy sent to it can be recycled as it comes back to the amplifier. This asks more of the amplifier's design but, done efficiently, around 2 – 4 dB of power can be saved. This economy is instrumental in making a product like this viable.

"In our research activity and during interactions with producers of loudspeaker components, it has become clear to us that this is the next logical step for the powering of these solutions," said Klas Dalbjoern, Powersoft product manager.

Even in applications where high output voltage isn't required by rental staging professionals, the X4L remains an extremely attractive product. This illustrated by the product's ability to deliver the same or more power per loudspeaker while driving more cabinets in parallel when compared to other amplifiers, which will save users both money and truck space on portable applications.

The product also has versatility on its side, with 5 output connectors to allow easy connection without adapters for many of the expected configurations, such as channels 1 and 2 driving a cardioid sub solution, while channels 3 & 4 drive some 2-way front fill in parallel.

"In such a configuration," commented Dalbjoern, "the X4L is capable of giving 1 dB more burst power to the 2 most power demanding channels, which in this case would be the sub channels."

OEM Solutions by Powersoft
Compatible with Powersoft Integration Kit platform, DSP-Lite ETH represents a powerful, easy to use yet cost-effective tool for both the designer and the end user.

Snapshot Selector
As well as the new hardware offerings, Powersoft will also use PL+S to launch an update of its popular Snapshot Selector app, which was originally released at the end of 2017. The free and easy-to-use program is now also available for iOS devices, and it allows users of Powersoft's X Series, Ottocanali DSP+D Series and T Series power amplifiers to instantaneously recall a full set of saved settings by simply connecting their phone to the front of their amplifier with a USB cable. The app makes the Powersoft amplifier platforms even more appealing solution for audio professionals.

T Series
Following its successful launch at NAMM, another of Powersoft's latest touring products - the T Series - will be presented to PL+S visitors. The T Series consists of both 2- and 4-channel models available in 3,000 W and 6,000 W versions supporting channel powers from 750 W to 3,000 W in a single rack unit. All models can deliver the same high peak voltage and can drive single 8/16 ohm cabinets at full SPL, making the T Series a cost-effective solution for small systems without boxes in parallel. The high voltage can also be used for power sharing between channels for applications such as bi-amped loudspeakers or subwoofers with passive tops.In addition to analogue inputs, the T Series also includes AES3 and Dante by Audinate inputs, which are optimised for daisy-chained distribution of networked audio to multiple amplifiers with no need for external switches or splitters. Each model features group controllable advanced EQ to let users equalise multiple amplifiers in a chain, as well as a robust preset library with FIR processing.

Fraunhofer IDMT Chooses Powersoft

The Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology (IDMT) has upgraded the highly specialised audio setup at its Ilmenau headquarters with the installation of Powersoft’s Ottocanali 4K4 DSP+D amplifier platforms

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/26/2019 -- Fraunhofer IDMT - which focuses on applied research in the field of audiovisual media - is widely known for developing ground-breaking technologies for the digital media industry. At its headquarters in Ilmenau and its branch lab in Oldenburg, the institute employs over one-hundred people to work on its diverse research portfolio.

Together with its contracting partners, the institute develops cutting-edge solutions consistently designed to meet the industry's most exacting requirements and expectations.

In order to maintain the highest possible standards during this specialised work, Fraunhofer IDMT has made the decision to invest in a brand new range of Powersoft Ottocanali 4k4 DSP+D amplifier platforms, further strengthening its long-standing relationship with the manufacturer.

Rene Rodigast, business manager in the acoustics department at Fraunhofer IDMT, commented: "We have a long story with Powersoft and have developed a good understanding of their systems over the years. Back when we installed our first Powersoft amplifiers here, we had direct contact to the guys in Italy as well as their German distributor, Laauser & Vohl GmbH. Normally we know very well what gear we want and in this most recent case the choice was easy. We ordered the amps without delay and received great support throughout."

A total of 29 Ottocanali 4k4 DSP+D amplifier platforms were required to meet the institute's grand aspirations, with 16 of those units being installed in the building's 3D Presentation Room alone.

"This room is one of our biggest experimental rooms," said Rodigast. "The goal when we created it was to have an efficient and flexible setup. The room is equipped with 117 loudspeakers and is able to accommodate a small number of subwoofers as well. All of the speakers can switch to different setups. One of our standard configurations is a stage setup of below-stage subs and some front fill, and a system enclosing the 'audience'. Thanks to the certified acoustics, we can simulate other systems as well, such as stage, cinema, planetarium, and even home setups."

The model chosen to drive this complex setup, the Ottocanali 4k4, is a flexible and reliable 8-channel power amplifier with up to a total of 4,000 W at 4?, ideal for multi-zone applications such as the Fraunhofer IDMT's 3D presentation room. The unit features switchable main/aux signal inputs and offers a wide range of system control, alarms, GPI/O and monitoring functions as well as sound shaping options.

Rodigast continued: "The amplifiers' Dante capabilities make the system very flexible, which is ideal when using different speaker setups in the room. It is also easy to use the Dante metrics - we often have projects with students who are not used to the system but it's easy to explain to them how it works. Flexibility is so important as we have different hardware and software all the time. It's good for us to have a reliable audio network where we can work quickly and easily switch channels."

The systems at the institute are sometimes required to run 24/7, which meant that reliability was another key factor in their decision. To that end, the Ottocanali 4K4 implements redundant universal switch mode power supplies with PFC and patented SRM (Smart Rails Management) technology maximising reliability, efficiency and reducing power consumption. This in turn saves valuable energy; keeping both the operational cost and carbon footprint of Fraunhofer IDMT's work at a minimum.

Rodigast went on to explain the wider layout of the institute itself: "In our acoustics department we have a lot of research and sound possibilities. Our biggest room, the 3D Presentation Room, is where we conduct R&D in relation to 3D sound systems. We also have a 3D sound studio, which is used for creating the 3D sound content and for presentation of technology."

The studio itself houses more Powersoft amplifier platforms, as well as computers, digital / analogue converters and the playback system. "We go directly from the PC to the amps via Dante and from there we go direct to the loudspeakers in the 3D room," he said.

Aside from these rooms, there is also a full anechoic chamber at Fraunhofer IDMT's HQ, which is one of the biggest in Germany at 10m x 9m x 8m. The room is capable of accommodating 60Hz and allows the team to conduct very precise measurements in low frequencies, which is very important for the improvement of sound reinforcement systems.

Rodigast added: "We also have a garage that contains a car equipped with a wave field synthesis sound system, and a room where we can do listening tests. All of these have certified room acoustics, which means they are independent of acoustical conditions."

One of the principles explored in depth at Fraunhofer IDMT is Wave Field Synthesis (WFS). Through conducting numerous experiments, the institute came up with Spatial Sound Wave (SSW) technology - an object-based system for producing 3D sound.

"Using SSW, audio objects can be positioned at will, providing a totally realistic compliance of what is seen and heard," Rodigast explained. "We have a real-time rendering system wherein we create signals for the loudspeakers, which then come straight from the mixing desk. It integrates with our SSW interface very effectively."

SSW technology can be used for a variety of applications. Recently an SSW 3D sound system was installed on TUI Cruises vessel, Mein Schiff 1, and in its multi-functional entertainment room. Rodigast added: "We can provide the same service for other applications as well. The main strengths of SSW are that it allows you to solve acoustical problems while also providing exceptional audio quality. We don't talk about the 'sweet spot' any more, as we can create an entire 'sweet area'."

Using SSW, audio content can be produced for reproduction by any audio system and loudspeaker setup. Reprocessing and adaptation of scenes or effects is not required.

He concluded: "We can accommodate most applications on the pro audio market here at Fraunhofer IDMT. We are currently doing things in the video side of the market as well, combining 3D sound with VR and headphone applications. We also have aspirations of working outside pro audio in areas such as industry and maybe medical technology."

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Jeff Touzeau
Email: Click to Email Jeff Touzeau
Web: http://www.powersoft-audio.com

Powersoft Continues Its Growth and Investment in North American Market

With increased regional sales presence and new service centers, company emboldens its North American infrastructure

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/18/2019 -- Powersoft, the world leader in lightweight and energy efficient amplifier platforms, announced that it has fortified its sales rep and bolstered its service center network in North America. The announcement follows the opening of Powersoft's North American headquarters, which was announced in January of last year.

"Our recent investments in our North American infrastructure reflect our continued growth in this region," commented Luca Giorgi, General Manager, North America. "By strengthening our sales network and increasing the footprint and capabilities of our service centers, we will be able to serve our customers better and offer greater predictability."

Refined and strengthened sales rep network
Recent investments in Powersoft's North American infrastructure include the appointment of new rep firms in the Ohio Valley, New England and Upstate New York and New Jersey. McFadden Sales Inc. has been appointed to oversee the Ohio Valley region including Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania and Ohio. Also, Lienau a/v associates, inc. has been appointed to provide turnkey sales services for Powersoft in the Mideast region, including Delaware, Virginia, Washington D.C., eastern Pennsylvania and upstate New York. In New England, Audio Pros will cover Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The appointment of McFadden, Lienau and Audio Pros sees the leading amplifier manufacturer more than doubling its sales rep presence in these select regions, which the company sees as representing key potential growth geographies. "Our engagement of these rep firms is the result of our continuous effort to get closer to the needs of our customers. Further, we feel that each of these companies will be able to function seamlessly as an extension of our own brand, while embracing our culture and corporate values."

New service centers create efficiency for customers
Powersoft also announced two new authorized service centers in North America – both of which will offer pre and post-sales support, testing and repair, reconditioning and full warranty service. The two new service centers, located in Rockwaway, New Jersey and Montreal Canada, add to the company's pre-existing service center already located in Ventura, California. Both of the new service center operations have already received formal training on Powersoft's rigorous equipment servicing and are now fully qualified to handle any equipment servicing need.

"Now that we have authorized service center locations across North America, we are able to handle customer needs more efficiently and expeditiously," commented Luca Giorgi. "Having strategically located service centers also helps us keep a closer pulse on customer needs in different regions. This is all part of our strategy of becoming closer to our customers."

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Jeff Touzeau
Email: Click to Email Jeff Touzeau
Web: http://www.powersoft-audio.com

Powersoft Debuts Earth-Shaking New Product at ISE 2019

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/05/2019 -- Powersoft is using this year's ISE as the first chance to demonstrate its ground-breaking new product, Mover - a small yet incredibly powerful linear transducer that can be used in audio applications and, more excitingly, as a linear motor / shaker.

A Powersoft press conference to officially announce Mover is taking place today at ISE to officially launch the product.

Breaking New Ground
Mover is available in two versions; Direct Drive and Inertial Drive. With Direct Drive, Powersoft adds a unique and unprecedented experience in which the transducer is anchored to an immovable surface and the moving magnet is directly connected to a movable surface, such as a floating floor or chair. Next to exciting the surface, Direct Drive is also able to create an offset of +/- 15 mm. As a result, the surface will not only shake but also move giving the audience the sensation of falling off or jumping over an object.

The Inertial Drive version can be mounted directly to a surface. The ultra-low frequency reproduction and unmatched efficiency of Mover - Inertial Drive will excite the surface and extend the low frequency experience. Mover is also available in a low impedance and 100 Volt version.

Visitors to Hall 7, Y195 - one of Powersoft's three booths at ISE - will be able to experience Mover first hand on a custom-built platform as it interacts with VR content. Users standing on the platform and wearing the requisite HTC headset can experience an immersive 360° video while being stimulated through haptic perception.

Patented Technology
Mover is based on Powersoft's patented moving magnet linear motor technology. Introduced in 2013, this results in an unbelievable performance. Extended power handling, electromagnetic conversion, reliability and maximum SPL are a few of the incredible innovative features and improvements with respect to conventional moving coil arrangement. This patented technology can also be found in the M-Force, which has found its way into earth quake simulators as well as powerful subwoofers.

Powersoft has now been able to pack this unique technology into Mover for applications where a shorter travel and less force is required. Mover is more accurate, powerful and efficient compared to existing products. It can be used to move floors or seats, both to track video content as well as transfer audible frequencies.

Mover can be used in conjunction with a Powersoft amplifier, especially for the Mover Powersoft has introduced an updated firmware version. A specific subharmonic generator plug-in has been added. This new algorithm transposes the pitch of the frequencies down in order to reproduce ultra-low frequency extension all the way down to 5 Hz

With the integration of the Mover many experiences such as rides, simulators and movie watching can benefit from fast and accurate movements that are in sync with the complete experience. Existing solutions for this suffer either from limited speed, harmonic distortion or limited frequency range.

A New Benchmark in Audio Performance: Powersoft T Series Amplifier Unveiled at NAMM 2019

New Powersoft T Series offers unparalleled flexibility and performance reliability for small to mid-size reinforcement applications

Kearny Point, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/01/2019 -- Powersoft, a world-leading manufacturer of professional power amplifiers, announced the release of its new T Series line, an ultra-reliable and efficient amplifier platform designed with the rental market in mind. The new platform — which is available now — was officially unveiled during a press conference during The NAMM Show 2019.

"We're setting a new benchmark for the type of reliability and audio performance you can expect from a product at this price level," said Klas Dalbjoern, Product Manager at Powersoft. "The T Series is Powersoft's solution for rental companies with small to medium-size sound systems, and it features next generation processing and networking capabilities, but at lower price point. It is also perfect for small touring bands, DJs and a range of other applications."

T Series: Bringing Power to the People
The T Series consists of both 2- and 4-channel models available in 3,000 W and 6,000 W versions supporting channel powers from 750 W to 3,000 W in a single rack unit. All models can deliver the same high peak voltage and can drive single 8/16 ohm cabinets at full SPL, making the T Series a cost-effective solution for small systems without boxes in parallel. The high voltage can also be used for power sharing between channels for applications such as bi-amped loudspeakers or subwoofers with passive tops.

In addition to analog inputs, the T Series also includes AES3 and Dante™ by Audinate® inputs, which are optimized for daisy-chained distribution of 2-channel audio to multiple amplifiers with no need for external switches or splitters. Each model features group controllable advanced EQ to let users equalize multiple amplifiers in a chain, as well as a robust preset library with FIR processing.

Powerful remote processing and ArmoniaPlus™
The T Series offers remote control and advanced signal processing abilities via Powersoft's ArmoniaPlus System Manager as well as onboard DSP. Each amplifier platform in the T Series is fully operable from the front panel display, ensuring ease of set up and control. The display includes features like preset recall, gain, delay and mute, plus it also shows available headroom, as well as other status monitoring.

In addition, the T Series lets users configure presets, so that — if, for example, a T Series amplifier platform is included in a rental package — the user can limit the amplifier platform's functionality to ensure reliable and safe performance prior to renting out the amplifier platform.

T Series: an Elegant Combination of Power and Simplicity
Modeled after X Series line of touring of amplifiers, the Powersoft T Series offers the ultimate ease of use. "We spent a lot of time working on a display with a navigation that's very easy to understand and to configure," Dalbjoern said. "We have included context sensitive buttons with back lighting that lights up only when the button is functional, which makes it really easy for end-users to control the system using the front panel.

"Our decision to include the option for daisy-chained Dante networking on the T Series was based on customer feedback," Dalbjoern continued. "The T Series is really a game changer, I think, in terms of reliable performance, usability and audio quality. We're raising the bar on what you can expect in a small to medium-size rental system."

Ancar said when it came to choosing the right amplifier for the spaces, Powersoft amplifier platforms' size and efficiency were key factors. "The physical amount of space that the amplifiers take up is a big deal to us when we start building these larger scale racks," said Cory Ancar, Crescent President. "Sometimes you can get kind of carried away with amplifiers when the design pushes you to have two racks. But with the architectural series that Powersoft is offering, we can get away with doing one single AV rack that will house all the amplification we need."
With additional offices in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Nashville, Tennessee, Zehnder Communications recently upgraded its main location by moving into a new space in Canal Place, a combined retail and office building located in the New Orleans' French Quarter, overlooking the Mississippi River.

As a full-service marketing agency that has grown since 1996 by focusing on marketplace trends, including social media, virtual reality, and voice, Zehnder's new office required more AV systems — and more amplifier channels — than your average office. The installation included a dedicated editing suite dubbed "The Chop House," a voice recording booth, a virtual reality room with a green-screen wall, a listening hub, which includes a video wall with six 55-inch Planar TVs, two small conference rooms and a large conference room.

So, when Zehnder hired Crescent to design and install its new office's AV systems, Crescent Director of Technology Stephen Bohrer said Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 DSP+D amplifier platforms were the ideal solution for the multi-layered project.

"I needed a lot of audio channels, all running from a centralized location," Bohrer said. "Each zone operates independently, under normal circumstances. So, when I had to start routing all the audio from all the different rooms to a central location, the Dante, DSP, and the small form factor — those three things together — made everything so much cleaner."

Bohrer used just three Powersoft Quattrocanali amplifier platforms to power the system, which he said has taken twice as many amplifiers — and twice as many rack spaces — in his past designs. "Then, add in the extra labor that would be needed because of the lack of Dante in most amplifiers, as well as the extra labor for the DSP programming that you miss out on with other amplifiers, and Powersoft amplifiers are just overall more efficient, which equals more cost savings."

As a marketing firm seeking to both impress and entertain clients, Bohrer said that Powersoft was the ideal solution when it came to choosing an amplifier platform that could help the company power not only its high-end AV production technologies, but also its parties. "Another thing that really brought us to Powersoft with this application was that the client could, from a central location, override all the audio in all the rooms and crank the volume so that the whole office would become a big party area."

Zehnder Communications' Creative Operations and Integration Manager Shea Duet said that one of the big problems with the old office space was that some of the AV equipment required additional training to properly use, and often he'd walk into a space and cables would be unplugged, or things would be hooked up incorrectly, and it would become messy to fix.

"So, with the office move, I reached out to Crescent because I wanted something that was easy to use, sounded good and served our purposes," Duet said. "It not only needed to work, but it needed to look killer, and it need to be easy for everyone in the office to operate. And most of all, it needed to be reliable."

And, since the move in October, the AV systems at Zehnder's new office — powered by just three Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 DSP+D amplifier platforms — have been just that: reliable. "We have had zero problems. Nothing has crashed, and we've had no issues as far as stuff not working. So, it's been great."

Reliable Solutions for Institutional Needs

In addition, designing the new Zehnder Communications office, Ancar and Bohrer said they've already begun to incorporate Powersoft amplifier platforms into designs for future installations, including a recently completed design for a courtroom in the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court. For the Orleans Parish courtroom design, Bohrer said they chose Powersoft — this time the 8-channel Ottocanali 1204 — once again because of its reliable performance, which is especially critical in a courtroom setting.

"The biggest thing with courtrooms is making sure that we get the most speech intelligibility," Bohrer said. "In this setting, you're trying to get the most gain before feedback, and make sure you can turn up the volume on the microphone nice and loud so everybody can understand, but you're not getting any feedback problems."

While the actual courtroom installation is slated for early 2019, Bohrer said they have also begun using Powersoft in other designs, including a nearby medical center, as well as a multipurpose school gymnasium that also functions as a house of worship.

"When Powersoft came and visited us, we really liked their business model, because at Crescent — just like at Powersoft — quality is everything," Bohrer said. "We're not just out to sell, or make the most money. We're not out to be the biggest — we're out to be the best."

Powersoft Appoints Gary Pace as New North American OEM Sales Manager

Pace will focus on expanding existing OEM portfolios and introducing Powersoft technologies to more North American manufacturers

Detroit, MI -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/15/2018 -- Powersoft, leading manufacturer of professional power amplifiers, has announced the appointment of Gary Pace as Sales Manager – OEM – North America. Pace will be responsible for connecting Powersoft technologies to North American-based audio engineering teams.

An industry veteran of MI and entertainment technology, Pace has over two decades of experience working with people from various aspects of the industry — from equipment manufacturers to engineers, system integrators and retailers. He will impart his experience to existing and new Powersoft manufacturer partners by helping to incorporate Powersoft technologies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) — which include amplifier modules, DSP and transducers.

"Gary's extensive experience in our industry will be an indispensable asset to Powersoft as we continue to grow our North American OEM footprint," said Luca Giorgi, General Manager – North America. "Powersoft has spent the time and money developing our powerful OEM technologies so that manufacturers don't have to. Gary understands this, and will leverage his knowledge of the engineering process to help manufacturers accelerate production time while increasing the efficiency and functionality of the end-product."

Pace also brings to Powersoft his specialization in installation products, most recently in his role as Sales Manager at beyerdynamic, and before that, as Systems Integrator at Advanced Lighting and Sound in his home state of Michigan. While Pace started his career on the retail end at a local music store and would later also serve as National Sales Manager for Bosch Security Systems Dynacord brand, it was his role as Global Sales & Marketing Manager at Littlite from 1998 to 2006 that introduced him to the engineering side of OEMs.

"During this time, I worked with a lot of engineers," Pace explained. "As much as we were selling to retail resellers, more of our business was with original equipment manufacturers, where we could provide a small collection of components that would be one less process they had to engineer and produce, and we allowed them to go to market more quickly."

Expanding the OEM Footprint
Pace is looking forward to using the experience he gained during his long career and helping manufacturers grow their business through Powersoft's OEM solutions.

"Powersoft technology allows me to help manufacturers of goods to expand their portfolio and get to market more rapidly while being associated with a premium brand," Pace explained. "Smaller companies benefit from being associated with Powersoft for both performance and because of our strong brand awareness. We can give larger brands an advantage to add products more quickly to take market share from competitors and find new customers. I look for these kinds of synergies, because we are all trying to grow our business, and shortening the engineering cycle is really important regardless of how big the company is."

Now, with the brand's growing footprint in the U.S. — including its new office in Kearney, New Jersey — Pace said that he looks forward to making it easier for OEMs in North America to expand their own base of opportunities with Powersoft technology. With his extensive background in the audio industry and a deep understanding of the manufacturers' and engineering teams' needs, Pace intends to introduce premium Powersoft products to more manufacturers in North America.

"I get to talk to OEM manufacturers every day who are dedicated to their ideas," Pace said. "If they are in the audio business, they all could benefit from a Powersoft partnership."
