While this news may not directly affect you, it can be a bit alarming to see so many law firm employees losing their jobs. You certainly don't want this to happen to you.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/28/2012 -- People in the legal industry might be a bit concerned now that news broke that 450 people were laid off from law firm, Dewey & LeBoeuf, without providing notice to its employees. The former employees were so angry one has filed a lawsuit complaining adequate notice wasn't given.

Layoff notices went out Monday, with no indication of downsizing prior to that. The firm has been having trouble for the past several weeks due to mounting debt and an increasing number of partners leaving the firm for greener pastures.

While this news may not directly affect you, it can be a bit alarming to see so many law firm employees losing their jobs. You certainly don't want this to happen to you. While there's nothing you can do to prevent being laid off, you can be prepared for this potentiality by always keeping an eye out for new job prospects.

The best place to do this is to look through the listings at LawCrossing.com.
Not Every Law School Offers the Same Value, Says Study

Avoiding Low Value Schools Could Save Job Applicants Headaches

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2012 -- There are many law schools out there that charge high tuition. However, just because that entry number is high, doesn't mean the school is actually worth the cash. Neither does it mean students will be able to find positions easily post-graduation. To combat this, U.S. News & World Report recently put together a listing of schools students should avoid.

It's not enough if a school has a poor ranking in terms of quality of education. Rather, this study looked at schools that didn't provide a quality education for the extremely high tuition charged. Plus, these schools caused students to plunge deep into debt without offering them substantial job opportunities after graduating.

The schools on the list included Phoenix, Thomas Jefferson, American, Southwestern, John Marshall, New York Law School, Catholic, Pace, and California Western. The value for these schools just wasn't there.

Now, if you're currently enrolled in one of these schools or have recently graduated, don't panic. It isn't over for you. It's just essential that you make use of every job opportunity available by using sites like LawCrossing.com. This site includes listings from law firms all across the country. Job seekers gain access to the latest open positions and are able to put their education to good use much more efficiently that those that apply to firms individually.

So, while the market might be tough and having an education from the wrong school can hurt you, it doesn't have to cripple your prospects.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Roger Croft
Lawcrossing
Telephone: 626-243-1801
Email: Click to Email Roger Croft
Web: http://www.lawcrossing.com/

Law Schools Misrepresenting Post-Graduate Salaries

Students Encouraged to Use LawCrossing.com to Make the Most of Opportunities

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/02/2012 -- It seems the common assumption about law school is that following the completion of school, graduates will immediately fall into a high-paying position at a law firm. However, this assumption might be based on false information perpetuated by law schools to bring in more students.

In reality, law firms aren't offering as many high salaried positions as they used to, leaving many graduates out of work or forced to take much lower-paying positions than they expected. Certainly, this puts recent graduates in a position where they can't afford to pay off their student loans or get ahead.

Inflated claims and false data perpetuated by law schools have put many students in a dire situation. If already in school, the best move for students to make is finish school to the best of their ability with top marks. Then, take advantage of every job search opportunity available to them. A top resource is LawCrossing.com. This site provides a listing of available job opportunities from law firms all across the country.

Though finding legal work can be difficult right now, it is possible by using the available resources. LawCrossing.com comprehensive details about law firms so recent graduates can find the positions they're best suited for much faster than browsing job boards or individual firm's sites.

Using this site won't fix the outlandish claims made by law schools, but it can put applicants in the best position possible for finding work in these tough economic times.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Roger Croft
Lawcrossing
Telephone: 26-243-1801
Email: Click to Email Roger Croft
Web: http://www.lawcrossing.com/

Find Open Positions Fast Through LawCrossing.com

Being Out Of Legal Work Too Long Could Hurt Hiring Chances

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/23/2012 -- It's encouraging that job numbers are on the rise across the country. However, legal workers might still have trouble locating open positions because firms are reluctant to take on more risk (new employees) at times of financial uncertainty. Staying unemployed isn't an option. Not even considering the lack of income and mounting law school debt, being unemployed for too long could make an individual appear undesirable to hiring firms.

The best way to combat this is to use every job locating tool in one's toolbox to find an open position. Instead of relying on standard job sites that only offer a handful of open positions, out of work legal professionals can use LawCrossing.com. This site gives lawyers, paralegals, and more access to tons of open positions in their area that they wouldn't otherwise have access to.

The listings on LawCrossing.com are not sourced from advertisements. Instead, they are pulled directly from law firm's websites and from other job sites, allowing job seekers to view all the positions they could potentially apply for. By expanding the job position pool, legal workers are certain to not be out of work for much longer.

Truly, it's about leveraging one's resources. Diversifying the job search to include all potential search sources is vital for getting a position as fast as possible and avoiding that dreaded gap between jobs on one's resume.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Roger Croft
Lawcrossing
Telephone: 626-243-1801
Email: Click to Email Roger Croft
Web: http://www.lawcrossing.com/

Law School Graduates Having Trouble Finding Work

LawCrossing.com Strives to Make Job Search Easier

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/13/2012 -- Even though recent job reports indicate unemployment is dropping, finding work is still difficult for a lot of people. Many assume those just graduating from law school have it easy. With such a great education behind them, finding work should be a snap. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many recent graduates, leaving them struggling to pay off a mountain of debt with few open positions.

Law school surveys also do students an injustice. Seeing claims like starting salaries of 100K a year can make anyone motivated to get that law degree. However, these surveys are often inaccurate and include only the highest salaries to skew the results. This leaves students and recent graduates with unrealistic expectations. And after piling on a ton of debt, these students are left with no job to pay it off.

For some, skipping law school altogether would be the best choice. However, for those who have already graduated, there is a way to make the best of a bad situation. That is to utilize the services provided by LawCrossing.com. The site provides up to date listings of jobs at legal firms and in related legal professions for a small charge to job seekers. This way, recent graduates can view open positions that don't get much publicity and spread out their applications more widely.

As a bonus, law firms receive a greater breadth of applicants, allowing them to make the best choice for the position, rather than just the best from the small group that applied. LawCrossing.com is striving to make the application process easier for everyone. And in the current economic state, anything that makes finding a job in one's chosen field like law easier is positive.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Roger Croft
Lawcrossing
Telephone: 626-243-1801
Email: Click to Email Roger Croft
Web: http://www.lawcrossing.com/

Offers Insights Into Law Firm Salaries, Bonuses and More

While the survey provides plenty of dollar amounts, it's about more than just dollars and cents.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/09/2012 -- LawCrossing recently announced the results of a comprehensive survey that provides a fair assessment into the salary and bonus structures offered by 94 different law firms across the country.

While the survey provides plenty of dollar amounts, it's about more than just dollars and cents. In fact, the survey shows how much each law firm provides in terms of salary and bonus amounts, how they arrive at these numbers, and what associates must do in order to qualify for said bonuses and salary increases.

This overview will allow associates to come to a broader understanding of what the competition is like so each can make appropriate career choices. Plus, organizing all of the data in this way helps to keep law firms competitive and make decisions that will be best for their associates.

Since there is some ambiguity about how certain firms determine their salaries and bonuses, the survey attempts to break the seal on this insider knowledge for the benefit of everyone in the industry to use as they wish.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Andrew Ostler
Editorial Coordinator
LawCrossing
Telephone: 626-243-1801
Email: Click to Email Andrew Ostler
Web: http://www.lawcrossing.com/

13.3 Million People Unemployed in U.S., LawCrossing Has Found over 100,000 Jobs Across the Nation

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/09/2011 -- There has been a meek expansion in jobs in legal sector. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' report, nearly 100 jobs were added in the legal industry in November. It's good news that the unemployment rate fell by 0.4% to 8.6% in November. But the bad news is that still puts the number of unemployed persons at 13.3 million.

The seasonally adjusted figures included in the BLS report suggest that there was also an addition of 400 jobs in the sector in October. The hike in legal hiring has been encouraged over the past two months. But, it doesn't make up for the 1,200 jobs lost by the industry in September. In August, the legal sector also shed 300 positions. During July, the industry added 4,100 employees and this remains the brightest spot of the year. The net loss suffered by the legal sector in 2011 is 1,000 jobs and it is also down by 3,100 jobs since November 2010.

The drop in unemployment arrives four weeks before the scheduled ending of extended jobless insurance benefits. It is allowing some unemployed workers to actively seek for job in order to receive government payments for up to 99 weeks.

LawCrossing lists nearly 100,000 jobs nationwide. Over 20,500 jobs for law students, 30,000+ attorney jobs, Over 2,000 summer associate jobs and nearly 7,200 jobs for legal staff have also been found by LawCrossing. LawCrossing tracks down every legal job through an extensive research process. The main advantage that LawCrossing offers is that most of the jobs listed on the site are directly from employer websites.

Pace Law School in White Plains exposed a plan to tackle the problem head-on by creating a university-sponsored law practice, earlier this month.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/05/2011 -- Nearly 4.4 percent of the workers with a bachelor's degree or higher were unemployed in October. This is less than half the total unemployment level. Nationally and in Westchester, the legal profession is one of the few areas of the private sector which requires an advanced degree and has yet to post consistent monthly job gains.

Pace Law School in White Plains exposed a plan to tackle the problem head-on by creating a university-sponsored law practice, earlier this month. This plan would provide real work and real salaries to recent graduates expecting to start public interest law as their careers.

According to Jennifer Friedman, director of the Public Interest Law Center at the school, the school will continue to hunt for donors over the next few months, hoping to the practice in September 2012. The law incubator also accomplishes a local need for reasonable legal services for Westchester residents - dealing with evictions, foreclosures, other landlord-tenant disputes, domestic violence and immigration concerns.

A few law schools having similar incubator programs include the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, the University Of Maryland School Of Law and the City University of New York School of Law.

This move is a response to the query about the students being lured with bogus data by the nation's law schools.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/17/2011 -- The U.S. Senate staff members are investigation about the legal education system in the U.S. The issues to be covered in the investigation include statistics on law school job placement and student-loan debt. This would provide as a backdrop to congressional hearings on the issue.

This move is a response to the query about the students being lured with bogus data by the nation's law schools. A lot of schools have sustained to report employment rates well over 90% for graduating classes, in spite of exceptional layoffs and sluggish hiring at the nation's law firms.

The Law School Transparency cofounder, Kyle McEntee, believes that law schools count anyone with a job as employed, whether they are bartending, earning an hourly wage as a paralegal or making $160,000 a year at a major law firm. According to McEntee, the employment rate for law graduates has hovered between 66% and 74% since 2001.

LawCrossing Has Found Nearly 92,500 Jobs in Spite of the Ups and Downs in the Legal Industry

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/15/2011 -- According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic's Friday report, the legal sector managed to add 400 jobs in October. But it was not enough to defy job losses that took place for two consecutive months. This has got the industry substantially fewer positions than there were in October 2010.

The nation is going through difficult economic times. In reaction to this, about three of the law schools in Missouri have decreased their number of applications. The University of Missouri at Columbia reduced its enrollment by 11 percent while Washington University in St. Louis increased its enrollment by 12 percent. A similar decline in the number of applications is expected by St. Louis University Law School. UMKC Law School actually planned to increase its enrollment by 4 percent to keep the total number of students in the school the same.

According to adjusted figures released Friday by the BLS, the legal sector had lost nearly 1,200 jobs in September and 300 in August. The last month that the industry witnessed positive job growth was in July, after adding 4,100 jobs.

LawCrossing lists nearly 92,500 jobs nationwide while nearly about 600+ jobs have been listed in Missouri. Over 24,000 jobs for attorneys, 6,900+ legal staff jobs, and nearly 20,000 jobs for law students and nearly 900 summer associate jobs have also been found by LawCrossing.

Negative Impact in the Legal Industry Is Fading Off, LawCrossing Has Found Over 90,000 Jobs Nationwide

The legal industry is going through a crisis situation because the fresh law school graduates are finding it harder to get jobs and salaries have considerably dropped over the past few months.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/02/2011 -- A negative impression seems to have made a effortless way in the minds of would-be law students. The national stories are making the law profession look like 'no longer a popular career'.

The legal industry is going through a crisis situation because the fresh law school graduates are finding it harder to get jobs and salaries have considerably dropped over the past few months. The aspiring students are giving it a thought whether to opt for law as a profession. Last year, nearly 81 percent students said they would apply to law school. In 2011, only 68 percent wish to apply. The class of 2010, nationwide, has had the highest unemployment rate since 1996 with only 68 percent of graduates being able to find jobs.

But the graduates from Boyd School of Law are bucking the trend of being unemployed. Nearly 93 - 94% of Students here have managed to find jobs since 2007. Out of the 146 Boyd graduates in 2010, nine are jobless and only two are in search of a job. Out of these about 20 percent entered judicial clerkships, nearly 9 percent work for government, and about 5 percent serve public interest or nonprofits.

The firm doesn't plan to accommodate corner offices for recruiting new partners. It is expected that Pillsbury will be shifting the back office functions like finance, information technology, word processing and new client intake to the country music capital by 2012.

It is not only planning to offer current employees an opportunity to move to Nashville, but also looking forward to recruit nearly 150 employees in the new office. For employees currently associated with Pillsbury and affected by the move, the firm plans to conduct tours of the city to show off its assets. But those who don't choose e tour, it is offering an improved separation package and job search assistance.

The firm O'Melveny & Myers' also has plans to cut down its staff by 75, nationwide, and to outsource some of the work from West Virginia provider. The decision came after the firm shook up its management ranks, which include naming a new chairman and several new practice group leaders.
LawCrossing Lists over 95,000 Jobs Across the Nation

The BLS report shows a net loss of 1,500 jobs in 2011in the legal industry so far, after a fluctuation in the first half of the year, and has lost nearly 3,500 jobs since September 2010.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2011 -- According to the Bureau of Labor Statistic's preliminary September employment report, analysts' predictions have been outpaced by the economy on the whole, after the addition of 103,000 jobs. But the small increase has not carried over to the legal sector. According to the report, nearly 1,300 jobs were lost last month.

The BLS report shows a net loss of 1,500 jobs in 2011in the legal industry so far, after a fluctuation in the first half of the year, and has lost nearly 3,500 jobs since September 2010. In July, 4,100 legal positions were added, after which the legal industry now has suffered two consecutive months of job losses. The adjusted figures of Bureau of Labor Statistics for August show that the legal sector lost 300 jobs - the corrected figure from an earlier report of a 100-job gain in the industry.

About 137,000 new jobs were added in the private sector in September, and got a high raise of 45,000 jobs collectively from the education and health services sectors. The gains haven't done much to improve the nation's employment condition keeping it steady at 9.1 percent. The overall employment gain of six-figure has been better than expected, especially after a few economists continued to raise the presence of a double-dip recession.

LawCrossing lists nearly 95,000 jobs across the nation. It also lists 24,000+ jobs for attorneys, nearly 21,000 jobs for law students, 7,300+ legal staff jobs, nearly 900 summer associate jobs, as well as 540+ judicial clerkship jobs.
LawCrossing Lists Over 20,000 Jobs for Law Grads Even When Finding Law Jobs Seems Difficult

This is because many grads of Austin's School of Law are cartoonists, service dog trainers, and wind farm employees.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/06/2011 -- The law school career services departments are now concentrating on alternative or nontraditional careers on their websites. University of Texas alumni has a Non-Practicing Advisory Council within its alumni association.

This is because many grads of Austin's School of Law are cartoonists, service dog trainers, and wind farm employees. As per the Yale Law School's "Lawyers in Business" guide, 10 percent of alumni typically work in a business setting five years after graduation and the young associates earn annual salaries of $ 100,000 - $ 300,000 in management, consulting, investment banking, and venture capital.

The NALP report shows that only 68.4 percent of 2010 grads were able to fetch jobs requiring bar passage. It can only be assumed that this is the effects of the employment rates on law school career services offices. Due to the increasing demand of the legal profession and entry-level hiring competition, most law students are forced to consider other alternatives.

Drake University's School of Law website states that 16 percent of the school's alumni work in business fields nine months after graduation, and the Boston University School of Law website states that 17 percent of its 2009 graduates began their careers in academia and while 6 percent worked in business. Albany law firm alumnus hires one to four Albany graduates each year for his large financial services firm, and currently 68 alumni work there.

Is It Really a Challenge to Find Law Jobs? Lawcrossing Finds Nearly 600 Jobs in Minneapolis

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/29/2011 -- The law school scenario in Minneapolis has been no longer a certain bet. After going through the bad news regarding job prospects and growing debt, the prospective students are asking tougher questions. Because of the worsening scenario, the number of applications has declined in law schools.

According to the new reports by the National Association for Law Placement, the job market for law school graduates is worsening since the mid-1990s. Employment rate and starting salary has fallen dramatically for the class of 2010. The number of applications for fall 2011 has dropped 9.9 percent, nationwide. This summer there is a noticeable decline of 18.7 percent in the number of people taking LSAT.

According to a June report by the National Association for Law Placement, about 87.6 percent of 2010 class found jobs almost nine months after graduating. Only 68.4 percent of graduates had a job which required them to pass the bar exam. About 11 percent of those who were employed were working part time.

Because of this, schools are receiving application of students who are very focused, unlike earlier, when students went to law school because they did not know what to do. Some admissions officers consider this as a bright side. It is believed that the prospective students think critically about the decision to join a law school.

Finding Jobs in Legal Field Turns out to Be Challenging, Lawcrossing Finds over 600 Jobs in Oregon

The job placement rate for the class of 2010 was 80 percent which is 5 percent less from that of 2009's class. The New York Times has phrased this as the worst recession in the legal profession's history.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/22/2011 -- According to the University of Oregon's law students, finding a law job is as hard as clearing the bar exam. William W. Knight Law Center tracks job placement for graduates nine months after graduation, so this year's data is still awaited.

The job placement rate for the class of 2010 was 80 percent which is 5 percent less from that of 2009's class. The New York Times has phrased this as the worst recession in the legal profession's history. A local attorney believes that firms have fewer clients because of the timber industry. The current situation for local grads is challenging as that they are highly indebted and finding jobs is not easy.

Hunting for jobs has become difficult because the drop rate has been consistent throughout the nation. Eugene attorney Thomas Herrmann believes that because local firms have less work, they have cut back on hiring. This is making the law field stiffer for graduates. The firms are cutting on their staff and thus they lack people to train freshers. Thus instead of hiring a new graduate, they prefer experienced candidates who can hit the ground without any training process involved. New York Law School was sued by its graduates for enrolling them with false promises of landing high-paying jobs.

LawCrossing has 20,500+ jobs for law students across the nation including 540 + judicial clerkship jobs, 6,900+ legal staff jobs, as well as nearly 820 summer associate jobs. It lists over 600 jobs in Oregon. LawCrossing tracks down every legal job through an extensive research process.
Law Firm Recruiting Process Returns in Full Force, Lawcrossing Find over 20,700 Jobs for Law Student

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/16/2011 -- Even though there hasn't been much improvement in the summer associate class sizes, there is, definitely, some progress seen in the offers for full-time employment received by the summer associates.

Survey of an AM Law Daily found that 17 national firms employing at least 20 second year students. The report shows an average of 62 students from each firm are offered jobs this year, which translates it to an average rate of 97%. This is high from last years' 47 students which translates it to an average rate of 95%. The National Association of Law Placement's report states that there was a drop in the overall rate of summer associates to 69.3% in 2009. In 2010, it reported an offer rate of 87.4%. The figures for 2011 will be out only after spring 2012.

Firms like Bingham McCutchen; Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton; Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson; Mayer Brown; and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett offered 100% of their second-year students to join them full-time after graduation. While, O'Melveny & Myers; Goodwin Procter; Kirkland & Ellis; Cooley; and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher surpassed the 97% average. Rest of the firms surveyed reported offer rates in the low-to-mid 90s range.
Lawcrossing Finds over 20,700 Legal Jobs for Law Students Across the Nation

A substantial decrease in the new student enrollment has been reported in the University of California-Los Angeles by 16 percent, while in the University of Michigan by 14 percent.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/07/2011 -- While applications to law schools are down about 10 percent in 2011 nationwide, there is also a decrease in the level of employment rate for post graduate students.

The first-year fall enrollment at the University of Missouri is down by 11 percent and applications by nearly 17 percent. A 12 percent decline in the enrollment rate in Washington University, St. Louis shows the lessening interest of students for enrolling in law school at flagship public universities.

A substantial decrease in the new student enrollment has been reported in the University of California-Los Angeles by 16 percent, while in the University of Michigan by 14 percent.

People have started understanding that this is not just a year's economic decline but rather an extended crisis. People realize that going to law school and get rich quickly is not a child's play.

By and large, 87.4 percent of the class of 2010 had any sort of job after nine months of graduating which is low 15-year. These serious figures have encouraged plenty of core-searching in the legal academy, so as the schools provide exact job-placement data.

LawCrossing has 20,700+ jobs for law students, of which 600 + jobs are in Missouri, 740+ jobs in California- Los Angeles, as well as over 1,450 jobs in Michigan. LawCrossing tracks down every legal job through an extensive research process.

LawCrossing Finds over 3,200 Legal Jobs for Law Students in Washington DC

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/01/2011 -- Steady recruitment efforts by Washington's largest law firms for 2012 summer associates have been reported.

Despite the retrenchment in summer programs' recruitment nationwide, offices of major firms in Washington are about to hire the same number of associates as 2011, for summer 2012.

Even though Akin Gump has plans to hire up to 20 summer associates next year, it is down from having 34 summer associates in 2008 and not far above the ground from 12 summer associates in 2009 and to 17 this year.

Finnegan plans to recruit 17 summer associates this year, creeping up slightly from last year, while Wiley Rein plans has sustained its summer class on 15 in the last two years and plans to maintain it this year too.

Covington & Burling with 526 local attorneys had 64 summer associates in 2008, 62 in 2009, down to 54 in 2010 and 47 this year and is keeping a target of recruiting between 45 and 55 summer associates in 2012.

There is a gradual decline in the size of the summer associates class in almost every firm for years that have passed and the coming year in Washington.

LawCrossing has 20,800+ jobs for law students, 500 + judicial clerkship jobs, 7,000+ legal staff jobs as well as over 850 summer associate positions overall.
LawCrossing Finds 20,000+ Legal Job Openings to Help Indebted Students

Law schools are hoping to give their students an edge in the struggle by forcing the big firms to recruit in August, months earlier than in previous years.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/18/2011 -- Top law schools have pushed big law firms to recruit in August. Because of the growing pressure to help students with heavy debts to get jobs, a lot of interviews for careers at law firms are taking place now.

Law schools are hoping to give their students an edge in the struggle by forcing the big firms to recruit in August, months earlier than in previous years.

Only about a section of last year's graduating students got recruited with big law firms. As stated by the National Association for Law Placement, it has been down from 33% in 2009.

Recruitment by major law firms bumped in 2007 prior to the beginning of the financial crisis. Hiring has crashed drastically due to the recession as well as more enduring changes to the industry.

Only 7 law schools in 2000 conducted the recruiting process in August. The figure rose to more than 70 by 2009, and this year it is expected to peak 100, as reported by Mark Weber, assistant dean for career services at Harvard Law School.

Quite a lot of major law firms are preparing to increase the size of their 2012 summer associate classes. While, Bingham McCutchen LLP has plans to employ almost 29% more students than the previous year. Skadden intends to enlarge its 2012 summer associate class by more than 66% to at least 150.

LawCrossing has been able to compile a list of over 7,500 legal jobs in the last seven days. Overall the site has 20,000+ jobs for law students, 500 + judicial clerkship jobs, 7,000+ legal staff jobs as well as over 800 summer associate positions. LawCrossing tracks down every legal job through an extensive research process.

LawCrossing Emerges out from Job Shortage, Finds over 2,800 Legal Jobs in Texas

This employment-data and economic-analysis consulting firm's study shows that Texas has the seventh-largest lawyer surplus having only 2,155 lawyer job openings but 3,052 people passing the bar exam annually.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/09/2011 -- According to the Economic Modeling Specialists Inc.'s research, 53,508 people passed the bar exam in 2009 but only 26,239 attorney job openings have been estimated annually from 2010 through 2015.

This employment-data and economic-analysis consulting firm's study shows that Texas has the seventh-largest lawyer surplus having only 2,155 lawyer job openings but 3,052 people passing the bar exam annually. Thus 897 surplus lawyers will be passing out in Texas every year from 2010 to 2015.

According to the report, the average hourly wage for the nation is $44.22 an hour. The District of Columbia has by far highest hourly median wages $70.96 for lawyers in the nation, while the average hourly wages of lawyers in Texas is much lower than that with $41.55 an hour.

The law schools have been taking measures to find solutions for the surplus issue. These schools have been intentionally reducing the size of the entry. St. Mary's law school's most recent graduation and law grad employment statistics show 89.1% employed; 6.93% seeking; 2.16 % not seeking; 1.7% enrolled in a full-time degree; 2.12% unknown. South Texas College of Law shows 299 graduates employed; 6 graduates enrolled in a full-time degree program; 17 graduates unemployed and seeking work; and 16 graduates unemployed and not seeking work out of the 399 graduates. The Texas Tech University School of Law indicates 93% employment rate, while University of Houston Law Center has 94% employment rate out of the 95% graduation rate.

LawCrossing has been able to compile a list of over 2,800 legal jobs in Texas. This includes 900+ law student and clerkship jobs as well as over 450 Legal Staff job positions. LawCrossing tracks down every legal job through an extensive research.
LawCrossing Finds over 20,000 Jobs for Struggling Law Graduates

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/08/2011 -- The law picture is badly wounded. It is going to be a tough time for the entry level job seekers because the jobs are shrinking day by day. While, on the other hand, the number of graduates from law schools is increasing rapidly.

In a nutshell, the statistical information provided by the NALP is that the average salary for law school graduates chopped by 13% from $72,000 to $63,000. The employment rate for the class of 2010 on the whole was 87.6%, down 4% from 2007. But only 64% of those graduates got a full time job that required bar passage. Approximately 2.7% of the jobs for the class of 2010 were obtained by means of law schools aiding their own graduates. A study from Northwestern Law states that around 15,000 attorney and legal-staff jobs at large firms have disappeared since 2008.

Law schools are troubled with information requests. If the ABA and NALP cover the same information using different terminology - it will avoid breaching on NALP's detailed classification system

The American Bar Association Section of Legal Education and Admission had made an effort to create a clear and more transparent system for tracking the employment outcomes. Last week the ABA section announced its new plan. It will have the derived effect of dejecting the National Association for Law Placement's ability to collect, analyze, and publish industry-level data.

What do you think would be the result of this? Indebted graduates struggling to find the right job opportunities.

New York Times Report Show Lawyer Surplus Law Jobs Shortage, Lawcrossing Finds 29,000 Attorney Jobs

The article is based on data gathered and analyzed by Economic Modeling Specialists Inc. (EMSI), a consulting firm specializing in economic analysis and employment data.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/29/2011 -- The New York Times is reporting that the tough job market for new lawyers is partly a result of a lawyer glut in the law jobs market.

The article is based on data gathered and analyzed by Economic Modeling Specialists Inc. (EMSI), a consulting firm specializing in economic analysis and employment data. The figures gathered by EMSI in fact show that the law schools are graduating more JDs than the economy can absorb for the next few years.

EMSI has taken as its baseline the number of people passing the bar in every state and DC in 2009. The numbers were then put up against the number of estimated job openings for lawyers in those states for the period 2010-15. In every state except Wisconsin and Nebraska, plus DC, there was a lawyer surplus.

The biggest surplus was in New York. 9,787 people passed the bar in 2009 for an estimated 2,100 openings for the period 2010-15. Nationwide, there were only 26,239 job openings for lawyers, while 53,508 people passed the bar. California was in second page with almost 3,000 lawyers in surplus.

Even Nebraska and Wisconsin just have negligible surpluses of law jobs for lawyers. But even though attorney jobs for new lawyers are scare, they exist in most states. LawCrossing is a job aggregator site for all types of legal jobs. The site has been able to locate over 5,500 attorney jobs in New York alone. Nationwide it has located over 29,000 attorney jobs.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Roger Croft
Lawcrossing
Telephone: 626-243-1801
Email: Click to Email Roger Croft
Web: http://www.lawcrossing.com/

Pittsburgh Law School Offers Its Students Flyer-stapling Jobs, lawcrossing Finds 22,000 Student Jobs

The American Bar Association has also advised students planning to enter law school to weigh the risks of getting a JD.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/31/2011 -- The University of Pittsburgh Law School let its career office put up a job opening of a flyer-stapler.

The posting quickly went viral and the college has apologized to its students for any "embarrassment or distress" that it caused.

The career services office was able to find only 24 job openings on its site. One of which was an opening for a person required among other tasks, to post flyers outside concert halls.

The tough legal market for new-minted JDs has been making the rounds of law student blogs and websites, with Above The Law being the leader in pointing out the hard market that lies ahead. At least two New York law schools have planned on admitting fewer students this fall. Law school applications are also down by 11.5% compared to last year at this point. The Law School Admission Council Inc. has reported 66,876 applications for the fall 2011 class. That number is the lowest since 2001 during this admission stage.

The American Bar Association has also advised students planning to enter law school to weigh the risks of getting a JD. "The rising cost of a legal education and the realities of the legal job market mean that going to law school may not pay off" the ABA said in its 2009 report.

But in spite of the relatively harsh job market, law firms are still hiring thousands of attorneys and summer internships are also available. LawCrossing is a job aggregator site for all types of legal jobs. Its database carries attorney jobs (35,000+), law student jobs (22,000+), legal staff jobs (13,000+), partner jobs (200+), judicial clerkship (500+), and summer associate/ internships (500+).
