Ice cream truck maven Joe Snow goes mobile with a dedicated DJ truck, with a little help from BASSBOSS’s versatile, new VS21 Powered Subwoofer

Miami, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/22/2017 -- Joe Snow has been an innovator in the food truck business for a long while. "I started in the high-end dessert truck world, and when I did my first ice cream truck I added all kinds of innovations that addressed what I saw as the limitations of a lot of the other trucks out there," Snow explains. These included displaying his menu on an LCD monitor to help people make purchasing decisions more quickly, and modifying the trucks to have their service windows closer to the ground level making the exchange of food and money easier, while providing a glimpse for customers to see behind the scenes work going into his products.

After installing a 3000-watt sound system on one of his ice cream trucks, Snow attracted the attention of event organizers for his ability to DJ and provide food service at their events. "I brought the truck out for some early testing and people loved the concept, but I knew right away that my sub just didn't have the punch and volume I needed. He pulled up some selections on his iPad and began to play, and as he brought the system's volume up the crowd went wild. BASSBOSS chose a split-wound coil because it can produce more linear force through the range of movement of the cone, resulting in lower distortion and improved linearity at high output. The premium-quality driver features a split-wound, 4.5 inch, 4-layer, copper-clad aluminum voice coil, capable of peak-to-peak excursion of up to 60 mm. To take advantage of the massive displacement of the new 21" woofer, the vented enclosure is tuned to optimize extremely low frequency output using a large port. Close Quarters

The low ceilings of Kung Fu Saloon's interior presented challenges both for sound and visual impact. Thanks to their small size and light weight, BASSBOSS' Lee was able to position eight DiaMon DJ112 loudspeakers throughout the space. "They're so small that they don't get in anyone's way even with the ceilings as low as they are," observes Cramer, who also found their sleek visual aesthetic complementary to the space. "We've got DJs of all genres coming in here, so we needed that high level of output to have it really feel like a club," Cramer explains. Big Bottom

Where the compact DJ112 speakers leave off, the dual SSP218 subwoofers take over. Just two of these subs gives Cramer plenty of deep bass for anything his performing DJ guests might throw at them. Lee was able to stash the two subs out of the way between some of the Saloon's arcade cabinets. "You can really feel the bass from these things throughout the whole club. They sound a lot bigger than they are physically," Cramer says.

Keeping the Party Going

Stepping outside of the main area, the outdoor patio at Kung Fu Saloon is even more sprawling than the interior. Six BASSBOSS SV8 speakers make sure the sounds of the night reach this 8,000 sq ft outdoor space. Lee directed they be mounted on steel frames that were constructed for the patio's TVs, with the other two mounted directly to the building. Operating as a full-range speaker, the SV8 handles frequencies down to 50 Hz, which is remarkable for a box of its size. The SV8's full-range performance extends the quality feel of the system out to the patio so customers who venture outside don't feel they've left the party behind. "For the patio, a lot of the time we aren't pushing the levels too high because we are mindful of our neighbors," Cramer says.
