Taste to Release Going Live! Spectacular

ONE of the leading players in the pioneering Irish blues scene and featuring original members John Wilson and Richard McCracken, Taste are to release a live album from their San Francisco concert in front of 30,000 fans.

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/30/2010 -- Intrinsically linked with the scene for more than four decades, leading lights of Irish blues music, Taste, are now set to follow-up their 2002 comeback album, Wall To Wall, with two new releases on Disonic Records. First up will be a... ahem.... taster EP entitled ...Going Live! which is available now, this will be followed by a full length album entitled Live In San Francisco - The Complete Concert.

Recorded in front of 30,000 fans in San Franciscoa??s Washington Square, this joyous album captures the veteran blues rockers on stellar form performing such classics as Same Old Story and Morning Sun plus a barn-storming rendition of drummer John Wilsona??s worldwide hit, Gloria, from his time in Them a?? featuring Van Morrisona??s daughter Shauna in playful mood on vocals.

Originally the vehicle which helped drive mercurial guitarist Rory Gallagher to worldwide acclaim in the late 1960s, Tastea??s beguiling blend of blues, jazz, folk and rock on their first two releases a?? Taste and On The Boards - brought them to the attentions of rock giants Cream and Blind Faith, who the band opened for on tour in North America. Their live pinnacle came in 1969 though, when they performed alongside Jimi Hendrix and The Who at the seminal Isle Of Wight Festival.

Gallagher left the Cork-formed outfit to go solo in 1970 to huge success before tragically dying in 1995 after complications following a liver transplant - aged just 47. Wilson later reconvened the band for the Wall To Wall album with original member Richard McCracken and guitarist/vocalist Sam Davidson and they are currently in the studio with Manda from Morcheeba working on a new version of Gloria. The three-piece recently completed a European tour and will return to the Emerald Isle in August for two shows at the Woodstock Blues Festival in Belfast a?? the city they originally made their name in all those years ago.

Paul Roderick Debuts With People I.Q

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/22/2010 -- With a sound reminiscent of early Roxy Music, Eno and Talking Heads; London based music mogul Paul Roderick is now poised to unleash his debut single 'People I.Q. A tar thick ska-influenced, bass driven amalgamation of edgy drums and slicing guitar riffs, it's set to be released on flourishing indie label Mbop Records on August 23.

Having spent the last year feverishly recoding his forthcoming debut album, 'Fusion Paradox' alongside critically acclaimed producer Mike Bennett; former member of The Fall, and renowned for his work with Ian Brown and The Stranglers, to name but a few. Roderick offers up a tantilising cocktail of genres, running the gamut from pop to electro, dance, new wave and rock, to create a post modern convergence that looks set to be a break through album for 2010.

Roderick's elusive aura has quickly achieved a mythic status amongst peers, and attracted fans in the form of Spiritualized guitarist Mark Refoy and bombastic Moby vocalist Diane Charlemagne, both of whom feature on single 'People I.Q.'

With impending live shows to be expected later this year, Paul Roderick is poised to take his place amongst the British indie rock scene and draw back the curtains on a more opulent picture for 2011.

Celtic Crooner Justin Grant Releases Debut

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/19/2010 -- Hailing from Newry in County Antrim, Justin Grant is the latest exponent of the Emerald Isle's uncanny ability to produce charismatic, prolific and engaging singer-songwriters. The Northern Irishman, who first performed live at the age of 15, will put out his debut offering, Could You Cry For Me via Megabop Records, later this summer.

With 18 years of performing live across Ireland and the UK behind him, Grant's penchant for penning melody-driven contemporary songs blossomed on the back of a love for an eclectic range of stars including; The Kinks, The Mamas and Papas, The Beatles, David Bowie, Tim Hardin, Glen Campbell, Faith No More, Grant Lee Buffalo, Nat King Cole and Traffic.

One of 15 self-penned tracks appearing on the Antrim troubadour's debut album Break The Wing, which will follow later this year, it includes opener and debut single Could You Cry For Me, which is in the mould of another Celtic Justin, Del Amitri frontman Justin Currie. Surfing on the back of the solo star's soothing croon, the track is soulful, uplifting and lyrically yearning with the pop-rocker revealing a tender and contemplative writing style.

If there's any justice, MOR-loving radio stations up and down the land will grant Justin copious amounts of airplay in the weeks and months to come.

Max Bygraves Invites You to Sing-A-Long Once More

Evergreen music hall star Max Bygraves has marked the start of Victory In Europe celebrations by re-releasing his double album of timeless ditties, Sing-A-Long-A War Years.

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/12/2010 -- If any male artist has the requisite affinity with the timeless standards that helped maintain the public's indomitable spirits during the Second World War then it's Max Bygraves. Set to turn 88 this October, the evergreen East London-born variety entertainer actually juggled a job as an apprentice carpenter with his evening role of performing turns in the capital's air raid shelters.

After joining the RAF two weeks before his 18th birthday, he went on to perform well over 1,000 concerts for the forces, garnering the title 'Best Act in Fighter Command'. Post-war he became a household name and veteran of countless London Palladium appearances, changing his name to Max after it stuck following his penchant for impersonating his hero, comic Max Miller.

He continued to tour and delight his fervent fanbase tirelessly for the next 30 years before being honoured with an OBE in 1982. Now 25 years after his original Sing-A-Long-A War Years release turned platinum, a double album of music hall medleys is being re-released to commemorate the Victory In Europe celebrations.

And the man famed for his catchphrase 'I want to tell you a story', certainly does on this bumper collection of old-fashioned ditties. From the defiant majesty of White Cliffs Of Dover and We'll Meet Again to the ageless nostalgia of Sentimental Journey and East End charm of Lambeth Walk, it should take you back to the sepia-tinted days of gramophones, Victorian-era dancehalls and stepping out with your nearest and dearest.

C&C Music Factory Classic Gets Remix Makeover

DUE for release on April 26th, expect clubland to be given a fresh injection of Sweat this spring when a brand new remix collection of the C&C Music Factory single gets released.

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2010 -- Undoubtedly one of THE club hits of the halcyon early 1990s house scene – prepare to Sweat again this spring. As, aptly, almost 20 years on, the remixers de jour responsible for the massive 1991 anthem 'Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)' C&C Music Factory have been given the remix treatment themselves. Featuring seven brand spanking new cuts, Sweat: 2010 Mix Collection should send your memory racing nostalgically back to the days when the nation's hippest dancefloors vibrated to the soulful rhythms of the New York house pioneers.

David Cole and Robert Clivilles originally hooked up in the 1980s when Cole was DJing at Manhattan's Better Days and a firm friendship and musical alliance was quickly formed. The pair collaborated with a host of vocalists and went on to produce, write and sell 125 million albums. With such stellar global stars as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin benefitting from their expertise, while their work with Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Grace Jones, Donna Summer, James Brown and Pet Shop Boys quickly garnered them a reputation as the go to duo, when a fresh, vibrant and innovative remix was needed.

Sadly, Cole passed away in 1995 from spinal meningitis, and, after becoming disillusioned with the music industry when Sony Music Entertainment dropped them on the day of his burial, Clivilles turned his back on making music, seemingly forever. But twelve years later and the hit-maker returned to his first love, once again making music with M.V.P. (M.ost Valuable Playas) whose first single titled: 'Roc ya Body (mic check 1,2)' reached no.3 on the European Pop Charts.

Featuring the standout rapping of Brooklyn MC Frederick 'Freedom' Williams and San Francisco power vocalist Martha Wash, the original has now been given the mixing desk treatment by London electro kingpins Nightstylers, while Chicago's DJ Bomber has hooked up with Big Apple production and DJ duo Soulseekers to cut a dub mix, New Jersey legend Cheyne Christian has dropped a Tribal Club take on the classic and budding London MC, DJ and producer Double G has supplied an Electro Club mix.

Glam Busta : the West End Smash Hit Musical Takes to the Road in 2010

"A great tribute to Sweet and T.Rex, its bolshy colourful and brilliant!!" CLASSIC ROCK

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/28/2010 -- After an outstanding run in London's prestigious West End, GLAM BUSTA, the Glam Rock musical, will be taking to the road and venturing to a selection of Theatres across the UK, in early 2010. So it's time to dust off your platforms, rescue your glitter gear from the attic, and get ready to celebrate the very best of Glam.

Glam Rock is hailed as one of the most joyous, innocent and possibly under-rated periods in pop history. After years of hippy self-indulgence, artists like Sweet, Slade, T.Rex, Bowie, Mud, Suzie Quatro and Alice Cooper injected much-needed fun, melody and mayhem back into the charts. GLAM BUSTA was inspired by Sweet's smash hit foot stomper 'Blockbuster' and blends smash hits from that heady 70's with an original Glam score.

The story takes place on the streets of a comic strip town named 'Glamsville', whose streets are terrorised by our villain protagonist, Busta. Disguised in a flowing cloak and multi-coloured studded mask, Busta has begun murdering women with long black hair, against whom this evil 'psycho-killer' seems to bear an unseemly grudge. Busta's weapon of choice is the lethal disco music, a banned substance in Glamsville and known to be deadly to anyone exposed to its murderous qualities. The intrepid Inspector Stone is hot on Busta's tail - but will he be able to expose the identity of the mysterious killer and stop the murders.

GLAM BUSTA http://www.mbop-promotions.co.uk/glam_buster.html is a riotous comedy that will really get your platforms stomping. The musical is directed by Alkis Kriticos, who initially cut his teeth at the Royal Court theatre in the Seventies, working with David Hare and Stephen Frears, and also with the original London cast of the Rocky Horror Show. Joining the team is noted choreographer Carole Todd, whose many credits include, Hello Dolly, (Drury Lane), Return to the Forbidden Planet (The Cambridge), Joseph (The Palladium), The Blues Brothers (Whitehall), Lily Savage in Snow White, and Elvis The Musical (Prince of Wales)

The show's writer and creator is Mike Bennett whose scriptwriting career has comprised work for Frankie Howerd, The Muppets, Children's ITV, Channel 4's The Word, and numerous plays in the West End. As a record producer and songwriter Bennett has gained twelve gold discs working with many musical superstars including The Fall, The Stranglers, Ian Brown, The Specials, Toyah, Wishbone Ash, ELP, Jimmy Cliff and Sweet. Mike's last collaboration with Alkis Kritikos was the Edinburgh Fringe hit musical 'All Cloned Up' which later transferred to the Bloomsbury Theatre in the West End.

Glam Busta's musical director and co-composer is Steve Etherington, who has produced many artists including Lulu, The Rubettes, and Sweet. As well as Glam Busta his many credits include the current West End smash 'Thriller'. Joining Steve as music supervisor is Pedro Ferriera who produced the seven million selling album Permission to Land by legendary Glam Rockers The Darkness.
