They provide a captive female thread in thin sheet materials like plastic or composite. They have the advantage over standard rivet nuts because of their wide grip range. This makes them ideal for rotational moulding where the wall thickness may vary considerably. They are set using a hand tool, or a pneumatic tool can be used for large volume applications.
