Technology Project Launches on Kickstarter to Save the Lives of Orphaned Kittens

Introducing a tablet-based simulation allowing the learner to train without risk to a live kitten.

Paso Robles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/15/2017 -- A new project launched on the creative crowdfunding site, Kickstarter, has a mission to save more lives of orphaned kittens alongside kitten rescue groups and Good Samaritan individuals. The project is the Orphaned Neonatal Kitten Training Simulation designed by Lacey Clifton of Paso Robles, California. Unlike most simulation trainers which are only utilized by advanced learners, this kitten simulation is designed for use by novice learners who might be volunteering for the first time to foster kittens in need of around-the-clock critical care during their neonatal period (first 28 days of life).

Projects on Kickstarter are designs like the Orphaned Neonatal Kitten Training Simulation posted by the designer to receive support by the public through pledges. Some pledges have rewards in exchange for them including adding a name to a Thank You page inside the simulation ($5.00) or a t-shirt featuring the simulation kitten ($40.00), but no one is charged unless the project meets its full goal of $3,500 and until the project is closed on Kickstarter on September 16, 2017 at noon in the Pacific time zone.

The simulation concept has been in its design stage for just under one year. "It started as a class project, but the idea was something that I just couldn't put on the shelf," said Ms. Clifton. "My classmates were really excited about it and even my instructor wanted to see me take it to an industry conference and start showing it in the field, so I knew I needed to keep it going." The simulation design in its draft stage was accepted to the 2017 Association for Educational Communication & Technology International Convention under the theme Leading Learning for Change. The simulation's mission to change the world by saving kitten lives through better education aligned with that vision. Ms. Clifton plans to have the simulation in a useable state in time for the conference thanks to Kickstarter.

Wounded Warrior Quilt Leaves Paso Robles for Afghanistan

A quilt shares a story of healing thousands of miles away.

Paso Robles, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/08/2017 -- A Wounded Warrior Quilt is departing for Bagram, Afghanistan from Paso Robles, California today. Lacey Clifton created the gurney-sized quilt to donate to an injured service member at on overseas hospital. The quilt consists of a patriotic red, white, and blue country theme with white stars on red and blue fields with horses and bandana prints.

Wounded Warrior Quilts have specific requirements to adhere to the hospital environment in which they will go: they are ideally 100% cotton even in the batting although a blended batting of up to 20% polyester is permitted; the theme is always patriotic without any cartoons; and the size is 48" x 78" to fit on a gurney bed. To purchase some of the materials for this project, Ms. Clifton used Kickstarter while other materials she had from a previous quilt which went to a Navy ship.

"This quilt has been about perseverance," said Ms. Clifton, "I suffered a traumatic brain injury and I know there are a lot of mistakes in it, but I think that just gives it a better story to share with the person who receives it. I wrote that story down and sent it with the quilt to let them know that this quilt has been helping me heal and it is ready to do the same for them."

The Wound Warrior Quilt will be sent to the South Bay Quilters Guild in South Santa Monica Bay who will send it via shipping services which have been donated to them as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They will ensure the quilt reaches Bagram, Afghanistan with their own quilts for distribution to injured service members at a hospital in Afghanistan.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Lacey Clifton
Telephone: 805-591-4709
Email: Click to Email Lacey Clifton
Web: http://laceyclifton.com
