Bucks County, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/24/2017 -- In a recently issued statement, the Bucks County Police Chiefs Association expressed support for Matt Weintraub in his bid for election as District Attorney for Bucks County Pennsylvania.

Weintraub stated, "During my 25 years as a prosecutor serving as Chief of Bucks County's Narcotics Unit and Chief of Prosecution, I have worked with law enforcement across Bucks County. Together, every day we fight to protect our residents and prosecute dangerous criminals. I am grateful for the support of the Bucks County Police Chiefs Association."
The Chief's Association went on to state, "There is no better individual than Matthew Weintraub, our District Attorney to help promote and ensure that our philosophy continues in Bucks County."
He has co-lead the Push Out the Pusher campaign alongside PA State Representative, John Galloway.
Weintraub is particularly passionate about protecting our youth, especially our youngest and most vulnerable. "Ben's Campaign- Lock it up" was born out of a senseless and preventable tragedy which took the life of a 2-year-old Bucks County resident. The Campaign seeks to provide all county gun owners with free gunlocks and distribute gun-safety information for adults and children along with the gun locks.

District Attorney Matthew Weintraub Unveils Two New Initiatives to Combat Local Crime and Drug Problems

Bucks County, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/06/2017 -- District Attorney Matthew Weintraub has always prioritized the safety of Bucks County residents. To that end, he is pleased to announce two recent initiatives to combat not only crime in general, but also specifically to target the opioid epidemic that is plaguing the region. The first of these, CRIMEWATCH Bucks County, fuses technology with local law enforcement to create a transparent communication channel. The second initiative, Push Out the Pusher, creates an incentive for Bucks County residents to report drug activity in their area.

CRIMEWATCH Bucks County was recently added to the list of programs, attributing its success to the well-established partnership between communities and law enforcement. CRIMEWATCH Bucks County is essentially the neighborhood town watch of the digital age. CRIMEWATCH enables cutting-edge, two-way communication between the community and local police. Interested parties can learn more and sign up for free alerts by visiting https://bucks.crimewatchpa.com/, or by downloading the app for free from the iTunes or Google Play stores.

Push Out the Pusher, a program of the non-profit group, Bucks County Crime Stoppers, was also recently unveiled. Bucks County Crime Stoppers uses donations they receive in order to pay out reward money as part of their efforts to get community members to offer valuable information to law enforcement. Tipsters can earn up to $5000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a drug dealer. The primary focus of this initiative is to target dealers who are fueling the growing opioid epidemic in Bucks County by selling potentially deadly drugs such as heroin and fentanyl. Community members can learn more about Push Out the Pusher by visiting www.BucksCrimeStoppers.org.

District Attorney Matt Weintraub hopes to continue to create a safer environment for families throughout Bucks County through initiatives like CRIMEWATCH Bucks County and Push out the Pusher.
District Attorney Matthew Weintraub Introduces Six Detective Strike Force

Bucks County, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/06/2017 -- District Attorney Matthew Weintraub will add six detectives to his team, dedicated to investigate what Weintraub referred to as, high-level drug dealers. These six detectives will be part of Weintraub's "Six Detective Strike Force," and will be supervised by one of his current detectives. The strike force's goal will be to investigate any leads regarding minor or major drug trafficking rings prevalent throughout Bucks County.

Unfortunately, the opioid/heroin epidemic touches everywhere in Bucks County from Andalusia to Riegelsville. 89 deaths were reported in 2012, and that number more than doubled in 2016. In fact, the death toll for 2017 is on target to shatter previous records. Although law enforcement officials have saved nearly 300 lives with Naloxone, the number of overdoses continues to rise.

For the past few years, education measures, prevention and treatment programs, and new laws have been enacted as part of the overall strategy developed to tackle this crisis. Even though these efforts are helping, they are not solving the problem.

District Attorney Matthew Weintraub firmly believes more law enforcement resources could make a big dent on the supply of illegal opioids into the county. "The strike force's sole mission is to go after the drug dealers," said Weintraub. "If that means following evidence outside our jurisdiction, so be it. We'll go wherever we need to find and prosecute these people."

With this dedicated task force, Weintraub will also be able to allow the rest of his staff to focus on investigating other criminal activity occurring throughout Bucks County.
