Nebraska Selects Tellus for Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)

Tellus is enabling all Nebraska personal care service providers to use EVV

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/12/2020 -- Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has selected 4Tellus, LLC (Tellus) to launch electronic visit verification (EVV) in Nebraska. Tellus is a national EVV company that has successfully launched EVV with multiple states, managed care organizations, and thousands of providers. DHHS is offering the Tellus solution to providers free of charge. DHHS will be implementing an EVV system this year.

This system electronically captures data related to a personal care services visit. "Once implemented, EVV will ensure timeliness of provider payments, accountability of services provided, and greater ability to collect and track data. EVV benefits clients, providers, managed care organizations, and the state as the administrator of health services," said Dannette Smith, DHHS Chief Executive Officer. "Two points in our four-pronged approach highlighted in DHHS' Business Plan are underscored with this solution, as we aim to create an integrated service delivery system and provide more effective, efficient, customer-focused services to Nebraskans."

"EVV is a federal requirement under the 21st Century Cures Act with EVV for personal care services being required by 2021 and home health services required by 2023." said Brad Levine, CEO Tellus. "Tellus is proud to have been selected and are looking forward to providing the best EVV technology in the great State of Nebraska."

DHHS will allow providers to use their own EVV systems. Those systems will not be paid for by DHHS, but instead will be the responsibility of the providers using them. Those EVV systems will also be required to comply with rules set forth by DHHS.

The Cures Act requires certain home and community-based services electronically capture:
1. The type of service(s) performed
2. The location where services were performed
3. The person receiving the services
4. The person providing the services
5. The date of the service
6. The time the service(s) begins and ends

Tellus Announces COVID-19 Quarantine Management and Tracking Tool

Federal and State governments can leverage this solution to geolocate, manage, and communicate with quarantined persons. Tellus is able to have a State operable and running in 24-hours.

Tellus eVV is widely used by Home Health providers, by state governments, and by many of the largest managed care organizations (MCO's). EVV technology, as defined today, bridges a gap between States, Payers, Providers and Caregivers. This solution allows and creates a real-time window of care into the home; thus, improving quality of care, timeliness of care, and allowing for service provider caregivers to offer in home care. The time and place of the care is managed while also managing the care and the results of the care to be tracked. To assist with the national crisis, Tellus has taken this proven technology and repurposed it to help manage those that are self-quarantined.

Tellus realizes the urgent need to address the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and has deployed resources to launch our quarantine management capabilities to observe, analyze and triage these individuals remotely.

We realize this health crisis needs to be managed in the home and we are uniquely positioned for the rapid deployment and scale.

2nd Annual EVV Summit Expands Program Agenda, Draws Home Health and Behavior Analysis Providers and Partners from Around the Nation

States, MCOs, industry experts and providers of home health care and behavior analysis began gathering June 12 for a one-of-a-kind, day-and-a-half national conversation focused exclusively on Electronic Visit Verification

Fort Lauderdale, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/13/2019 -- Tellus, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) technology solutions, announced today that a larger-than-expected number of attendees have converged on the opening day of its Second Annual eVVolution Conference at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

With the federally mandated 2020 deadline requiring personal care services to implement EVV fast approaching, a sense of urgency has drawn care organizations, providers and more than a dozen health and technology thought leaders to the nation's only national EVV conference. More than 130 attendees representing some 70 organizations are attending the event, sponsored by Tellus for the second year running.

Speakers and sessions for the forum June 12-14 will cover the current state of the industry, advancements in EVV technology, updates on EVV requirements and implementation best practices. The sessions have been expanded beyond Tellus' inaugural 2018 conference to include topics such as innovations in mobile gadgetry, updates on product enhancements, national policy updates, bundled solutions for payers and providers and improving overall wellness through connected health in the home.

This year's event began the evening of June 12, with a cocktail reception where industry leaders mingled, networked and informally prepped for the important EVV, claims processing and compliance topics to be discussed over the upcoming days.

Tellus CEO Brad Levine's opening remarks June 13 were followed by a keynote address from nationally-recognized health care fraud expert, Bill Mahone, President, Mahone Consulting Group.

Participants will also hear from a variety of thought leaders across the personal care, home health and behavioral analysis services spectrum and have the opportunity to engage in direct, hands-on training sessions each day. The June 13 program will be capped with a gala celebration event, sponsored by Verizon.

"We've built on the success of last year's inaugural event and put together a deeper dive to keep stakeholders abreast of the latest changes in EVV technology and the regulatory environment," said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "Our extensive agenda of issues are tailored to EVV solutions that improve productivity, transparency and, ultimately, lead to better outcomes."

EVV enables home health, personal care and behavioral analysis service providers to confirm that care services were actually delivered by using GPS, location-based triangulation combined with electronic signature capture at the point of care. That data is then automatically compared to care plans, prior authorizations, schedules and other business rules and policies in advance of claim submission.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act. To be compliant with the Cures Act, personal care services are required to be verified using EVV technology by January 1, 2020. Though not mandated, the State of Florida is also rolling out EVV for its Medicaid-funded Behavior Analysis program.

The 2019 eVVolution agenda will address these deadlines and feature discussions on fraud, waste and abuse, implications for self-direction, and applications in behavioral analysis, among other topics relevant to states, managed care organizations and providers.

"We thought we needed to fine tune this important conversation about EVV," said Levine. "Given the positive response and the larger than expected attendance, we know it's going to be a valuable experience with serious discussion and tangible takeaways that will drive the evolution of home health care."

Florida Community Care Selects Tellus' Electronic Visit Verification Platform for Rollout to Its Provider Services Network

Florida Community Care, in partnership with Tellus, set to begin EVV implementation to meet statewide deadline of October 1, 2019

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/11/2019 -- Tellus, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) technology solutions, announced today that it has contracted with Florida Community Care (FCC), a subsidiary of Independent Living Systems. FCC operates a Provider Services Network that was awarded a contract by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) to serve Medicaid recipients in all 11 regions as a Long-Term Care Plus Plan.

Under the contract, Tellus will provide its complete, end-to-end EVV solution, which includes a point-of-care mobile app, a web-based back-office administrator console for real-time visibility into visit status, an intelligent, web-based claims processing technology that simplifies and speeds up reimbursement, data aggregation and sophisticated reporting capabilities.

Tellus supports an open EVV model in the state of Florida. If a provider agency is already using another EVV system, Tellus will collect the EVV data on behalf of FCC using its state-of-the-art data aggregation solution.

"We are committed to making the mandated transition to EVV as simple as possible for our provider network," said David Rogers, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at FCC. "Tellus is a great partner because they support our desire to allow our providers to choose the tools that work best for them."

FCC is one of three health plans contracted by Florida AHCA to provide SMMC services in all regions across the state. Most Medicaid recipients are enrolled in the SMMC program, which includes Long-Term Care and Managed Medical Assistance.

"We look forward to working with FCC's provider network," said, Brad Levine, CEO of Tellus. "We advocate for provider choice. It's not easy, but we've built our system so it's flexible enough to adapt to what states, managed care organizations and provider agencies need."

Implementation of EVV for Medicaid-reimbursed home health care services became a national requirement in 2016 through the 21st Century Cures Act. The Cures Act requires personal care services to adopt EVV systems before January 2020. Florida Community Care is adopting the EVV solution to meet the AHCA directed timeline of October 2019.

Tellus will host its second annual eVVolution National Forum June 12-14, 2019, at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. The open forum of the conference offers a deep dive into EVV and an ideal way for attendees to interact with peers, understand their experiences, and leverage those experiences in a practical way to improve their own operations.

Tellus Contributes Minimum Standard Requirements to NEVVA, Leads Effort to Establish National EVV Standards & Integration Protocol

Participating third-party EVV vendors across the nation will be required to meet minimum standards based on EVV best practices to ensure data security and integrity.

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/02/2019 -- Tellus LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) technology solutions, announced today that it is contributing its minimum requirements to the National Electronic Visit Verification Association (NEVVA) to help standardize the integration of EVV software and systems nationwide.

Tellus is a founding member of NEVVA, an industry resource for EVV whose core mission is to establish industry standards and best practices for EVV delivery.

Minimum requirements are necessary to ensure data flowing through the end-to-end system maintains the intent and integrity of EVV as well as compliance with the 21st Century Cures Act, a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal and home health care providers to implement EVV. Tellus, along with several managed care organizations (MCOs) have established a set of Third-Party Vendor Minimum Requirements that are designed to ensure that the MCO has the visibility and transparency necessary to comply with regulations as well as make sound business decisions.

"We are contributing our integration protocol to NEVVA in an effort to create a national EVV standard," said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "We are extremely proud to offer our advice, support and guidance, and we will be working closely with NEVVA to establish this standard before the end of 2019."

Tellus allows third-party software tools that meet the company's minimum requirement standards to seamlessly integrate with its open platform in advance of the federally mandated deadline to implement EVV for personal care services by January 2020. Its client portfolio of Agency Management Systems (AMS), third-party EVV vendors and other health care information technology providers are required to meet nine compliance benchmarks to engage in claims processing.

To be compliant, third-party vendor systems and software must collect data electronically, not allow manual edits by caregivers in the record system and track all edits to data completed by administrators. Additionally, vendors are required to be HIPPA-compliant, include GPS-enabled mobile technology as the primary method of collecting EVV data, operate in offline mode to capture data when cellular or Wi-Fi is not accessible to capture, ensure all Protected Health Information is encrypted, and maintain compliance with all Operational Service Level Agreements.

A complete list of Tellus' vendor compliance requirements can be obtained by contacting Joe Schnur at 954-719-0004 or by email at joe.schnur@4tellus.com.

Tellus is sponsoring NEVVA's upcoming EVV Summit, April 5-6, 2019, at the Marriott Rivercenter, San Antonio, Texas, which immediately follows NASUAD's Spring Meeting. Visit evvsummit.com for more information.

Tellus' Open EVV Platform Seamlessly Integrates with Agency Management, Third-Party EVV, Financial Management and Other Health Care Information Technology Systems

Tellus’ state-of-the-art data aggregation engine gives States and Managed Care Organizations oversight while offering providers choice

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/15/2019 -- Tellus LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) technology solutions, announced today that its open platform allows third-party software tools to seamlessly and easily integrate in advance of the federally-mandated deadline to implement EVV by January 2020. This includes Agency Management Systems (AMS), third-party EVV vendors, financial management and other health care information technology providers.

As a data aggregator for States and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Tellus works with all third-party EVV software systems using bi-directional data exchange to enable claims data to be processed through one central system. Participating third-party EVV vendors are simply required to meet a set of minimum standards to integrate based on EVV best practices designed to ensure data security and integrity.

Home health care agencies with AMS systems already in place for scheduling, payroll or other business management functions can also now integrate with Tellus to automatically send and receive data so that provider administrators are not managing it in disparate systems.

With most states already choosing an open model over closed EVV models, providers enjoy cost and functionality advantages while avoiding administrative burdens and duplication of operating processes. For technology vendors, Tellus' open model helps fuel innovation within the ecosystem. When technology providers focus on continuous improvement within their core competencies, care providers and recipients of care benefit from better technology.

"An open EVV system is critical to successful agency management," said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "We know agencies run more smoothly when EVV drives value throughout the entire ecosystem including care management, payroll, billing, auditing and scheduling. We also know technology providers are more innovative when they focus on best-of-breed rather than catalog solutions," he said. "As we scale through rapid growth and adoption, Tellus will continue to stay laser-focused on the EVV ecosystem, building on dozens of integrations with AMS platforms, front-end app solutions as well as back-end aggregation and claims processing."

Implementation of EVV for Medicaid-reimbursed home health care providers became a national requirement in 2016 through the 21st Century Cures Act. The Cures Act requires personal care services to adopt EVV systems before January 2020 and for home health services to have systems in place prior to January 1, 2023.

Tellus LLC Qualifies for Grant to Help Create Dozens of High-Wage Tech Jobs

State award to include $180,000 in tax credits toward training of new workers at the company

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/08/2018 -- Tellus LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) solutions for the personal and home health care markets announced today it is under consideration for a state grant award for Florida's Quick Response Training program that will help fund 30 new high-paying technology jobs at the company.

The Division of Strategic Business Development of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) determined Tellus is eligible to receive $180,000 in tax credits for the award contingent on the company creating at least 30 new full-time jobs at an average annual wage of $73,000 — a rate at least 150% higher than the average private sector job in Broward County.

The state-funded program, designed to fuel the competitiveness of Florida businesses globally provides grant funding for specialized, skills-based training to new or expanding businesses in Florida's targeted high skills industries. To qualify, businesses must have exportable goods or services and wages of 125 percent above state or local wages.

The program, lauded by economic developers and national business groups as the best for impacting their ability to win multi-state contracts, is also recognized by both the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber Foundation in their annual rankings.

The grant provides tax incentives and direct funding to qualifying businesses to train their new, full-time employees. Funding is for one year and is based on performance criteria set by the state. Once approved for the program, businesses pay for direct training-related costs and are reimbursed by CareerSource Florida.

Tellus qualified for the grant as a result of its position operating within Florida's qualified target industry and designated high-impact sector, Information Services-Custom Computer Programming Services.

"We are extremely grateful to Governor Scott and the state DEO team as we continue to scale up our EVV platform to help meet the growing health care technology needs of patients and their providers," said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "We look forward to contributing to Broward County's burgeoning tech workforce with the hiring of at least 30 new highly-skilled employees."

Tellus Emerges as Dominant Provider of Electronic Visit Verification in Florida

MCOs select Tellus as EVV partner and begin implementation across Florida

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/28/2018 -- Tellus LLC, a leading provider of mobile care delivery and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for the Home Health and Long-Term Care markets, announced today it has landed the majority of managed care organization (MCO) contracts in Florida for EVV, with health plans set to go live before the end of 2018.

As a result of winning the state Medicaid contract last year and partnering with nearly all the state's MCOs, Tellus is now the leading provider of EVV solutions in Florida. The company's MCO contracts include UnitedHealthcare, Anthem/Simply Healthcare, Aetna, ILS and Community Care Plan, among others.

The MCOs selected Tellus' EVV platform for all personal care and home health services as part of Florida's Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Program.

Implementation of EVV for Medicaid-reimbursed home health care providers became a national requirement in 2016 through the 21st Century Cures Act. In July 2018, H.R. 6042 was signed amending the initial deadline established by the Cures Act but still requiring personal care services to adopt EVV systems before January 2020 and home health services to have systems in place prior to January 1, 2023.

"Tellus supports the open model and is working across the home health care ecosystem to make implementation easy for providers," said Brad Levine, CEO of Tellus LLC. "We are tremendously proud of our ability to scale and to partner with the top MCOs and achieve the status as the dominant provider of EVV services in Florida and throughout America."

Founded in 2013, Tellus is headquartered in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The company, a provider of technology solutions for the mobile home health care market, recently announced it has been selected to the Inc. 5000 list of largest private companies in the nation for a second time based on revenue growth.
Tellus is the founding member of the National Electronic Visit Verification Association, an industry resource for EVV dedicated to providing information and support for states, managed care organizations and health care providers. The association's core mission is to establish industry standards and best practices in EVV delivery.

National Electronic Visit Verification Association (NEVVA) Signs Charter Members and Forms Key Partnerships

NASUAD, Sandata and Tellus join NEVVA in mission to create standards and best practices for visit and payment methodologies that insure fiscally responsible care

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/28/2018 -- The National EVV Association (NEVVA), launched in May as the industry resource for Electronic Visit Verification, continues to gain traction as states, managed care organizations and home and community-based health care providers plan their implementation of EVV in advance of the Medicaid federal mandate, now set for January 1, 2020. Today, NEVVA announced that Sandata has signed on as a charter member, joining founding member Tellus, LLC. The professional organization also announced that it is working closely with the National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) to help its member states conform with the new regulations.

With two leading EVV vendors onboard, and the leading association of state aging, disability, and long-term services and supports directors, NEVVA can begin the process of defining and establishing best practices, standards and protocols to guide the development and implementation of the technology. Both vendor firms offer EVV solutions that assist providers and payers better manage personal and home health care services. Their memberships bring added expertise and quality to NEVVA.

Mark Dillon, NEVVA Executive Director said, "Having two industry leading EVV vendors like Tellus and Sandata join NEVVA, I'm confident that we will be able to establish standards and best practices that are meaningful and valuable to everyone."

NEVVA also announced a partnership with NASUAD. NASUAD's mission to design, improve, and sustain state systems that provide home and community-based services and supports aligns with NEVVA's mission to establish best practices for home and community-based services. This partnership will help bring effective assistance to states as they work towards EVV implementation.

NASUAD Executive Director Martha Roherty will hold a seat on the NEVVA Board of Directors alongside Mark Dillon, NEVVA Executive Director, Brad Levine, Tellus CEO, and Tom Underwood, Sandata CEO, among others still to be appointed. A meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2018, in Atlanta, Ga., to further define structure and committee leadership of the organization.

"We are excited about this unique opportunity to work together with NEVVA, the first and only industry trade group for EVV," said Roherty. "Facing the 2020 deadline to implement personal care services, states across the nation can now harness critical information from one source and unite with managed care plans, providers, and the industry to advance a common goal — optimizing the technology to support improved delivery of long-term services and supports."

NEVVA will focus solely on EVV and will serve as the industry voice and resource for all news, information, expertise and advocacy related to EVV. It will work to expand the conversation surrounding EVV and to bridge the gap between key constituencies.

NEVVA's core purpose is to establish industry standards and facilitate best practices to achieve a standard delivery of EVV data for services delivered to individuals in their homes and communities. By establishing best practices for EVV services, NEVVA will help pave the way to better, more fiscally responsible care.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act, enacted in December 2016, intended to accelerate health care innovation. Funding for the Cures Act initiatives rely, in part, on savings generated through reductions in fraud, waste and abuse from EVV. Recently, Congress approved a bill, H.R. 6042, that delays the reductions in federal matching assistance percentage for Medicaid personal care services delivered without EVV until January 1, 2020. On July 30, the President signed this legislation into law, solidifying the delay and effectively allowing more time for states to engage stakeholders and procure a solution that meets the needs of their constituents.

NEVVA will serve as a resource to help members not only implement but also smoothly integrate and continuously innovate EVV well past those initial deadlines.

About NEVVA
The National Electronic Visit Verification Association (NEVVA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving as the single source for Electronic Visit Verification industry-related information for states, managed care organizations and providers. NEVVA provides expertise, news and information, advocacy and support to all of these constituents, enabling them to continuously deliver the highest quality of care possible to those who depend on it.

Gaining Momentum: National Electronic Visit Verification Association (NEVVA) Formed and Executive Director Announced

New organization appoints industry expert, Mark Dillon, to leadership role

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/21/2018 -- The National EVV Association (NEVVA) announced today that the organization has officially completed its formation and incorporation in the state of Florida and has filed for non-exempt status with the IRS. NEVVA, spurred as a result of the recent national EVV Summit, sponsored by Tellus, LLC, a leading provider of mobile health and EVV technology, is intended to expand the EVV conversation, creating a leadership forum that bridges the key constituencies across states, managed care organizations and provider agencies. NEVVA will focus solely on EVV and will serve as the industry voice and resource for all news, information, expertise and advocacy related to EVV.

As part of the initial formation of the association, Mark Dillon, founder and CEO of Pulsewrx, Inc., has been appointed to the role of Executive Director for NEVVA.

Mark Dillon is a pioneer in the EVV industry and has a deep understanding of GPS, Wireless Networks and the applicability in Home and Community-Based Care. Dillon completed the first GPS EVV-based implementation for a State Medicaid Department and its respective MCO contractors. Dillon has served as a GPS industry expert to Government payers and State Medicaid Departments in the structuring of their EVV solution for a range of mobile delivery services.

A speaker at this year's EVV Summit, Dillon said, "Everyone who knows me knows that I'm extremely passionate about EVV. I feel very strongly that it's good for everyone involved and the right thing to do. I'm honored to lead this new organization."

Dillon's first area of responsibility is to establish the organization's bylaws and membership categories. A logo identity and temporary web presence at www.nevva.org has been established to collect contact information for anyone interested in joining the organization.

EVV enables health care providers to confirm that care services were actually delivered by using a variety of electronic methods like GPS geofencing, biometric information capture, telephony and other methods.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act, enacted on December 13, 2016, intended to accelerate health care innovation. The Cures Act relies, in part, on savings generated through reductions in fraud, waste and abuse from EVV.

To be compliant with the Cures Act, personal care services are required to be verified using EVV technology beginning January 1, 2019, and home health services beginning January 1, 2023. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently released much-anticipated guidance that clarified certain points of the provision but did not lift any requirement to deploy EVV by those deadlines.

Following the announcement of NEVVA, Tellus CEO Brad Levine said, "I felt strongly that this conversation needed to occur, which is why Tellus took the lead in sponsoring the first EVV Summit. We want to continue to push the organization forward, and I look forward to participating as a charter member and working closely with those who lead it."

With the help of Mark Dillon and other participating members, the conversation surrounding EVV will continue well beyond the initial implementation deadlines and continue to drive innovation.

Formation of a National Electronic Visit Verification Association (NEVVA) Underway as an Outcome of EVV Summit

States, managed care organizations and providers converged last week for first national conversation on EVV, results in formation of new organization

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/06/2018 -- Tellus, LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) solutions, sponsored an EVV Summit last week, titled eVVolution. The Summit, held May 30-June 1, 2019, at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort in Deerfield Beach, FL, drew more than 130 attendees representing some 70 organizations across home health agencies, managed care organizations and state Medicaid providers. Over the three-day period, attendees participated in an array of sessions and open dialogue covering topics surrounding EVV best practices, implications for self-direction, implementation timing and considerations, fraud, waste and abuse prevention as well as effective training and outreach methodology.

A significant outcome from the gathering was the formation of a new national organization designed to focus solely on EVV. The new organization, known as the National EVV Association, will include representation from states, managed care organizations, providers, trade organizations, vendors, suppliers and other related entities. It will serve as the industry source for all news, information, expertise and advocacy related to EVV. Once officially in operation, it will also assume responsibility for the annual eVVolution Summit. Next year's Summit is already scheduled for May 1-3, 2019, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

"By all accounts, the Summit was a tremendous success. We had a larger than expected turnout, and the quality of conversations was really unprecedented." said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "We look forward to participating as a charter member of the new organization and working closely with those who will lead it."

Mark Dillon, President of Pulseworks, and a speaker at the conference said, "Knowing that the many constituencies share our interest in continuing to foster this kind of open conversation and dialogue by forming an organization dedicated to EVV is a really positive outcome."

EVV enables health care providers to confirm that care services were actually delivered by using a variety of electronic methods like GPS geofencing, biometric information capture, telephony and other methods.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act, enacted on December 13, 2016, intended to increase health care innovation.

Tellus Sponsors First-of-Its-Kind National Conversation on Electronic Visit Verification

States, managed care organizations and providers will converge for an EVV Summit to kick off dialogue in advance of January 1, 2019, deadline

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/30/2018 -- Tellus, LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) solutions, is sponsoring an EVV Summit, titled eVVolution, May 30-June 1, 2019, at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort in Deerfield Beach, FL. The event is expected to draw more than 130 attendees representing some 70 organizations.

Over the three-day period, participants will hear from a variety of thought leaders across the home health and personal care services ecosystem. These speakers and participants represent a segment of the health care market impacted by the EVV provision of the 21st Century Cures Act.

EVV enables home health and personal care services providers to confirm that care services were actually delivered by using a variety of electronic methods like GPS, location-based triangulation, biometric information, a stationary "fixed object," or FOB in the recipient's home, electronic signature capture or telephony.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act, enacted on December 13, 2016, intended to increase health care innovation. The Cures Act relies, in part, on savings generated through reductions in fraud, waste and abuse from EVV.

To be compliant with the Cures Act, personal care services are required to be verified using EVV technology by January 1, 2019, and home health services by January 1, 2023. After these dates, reimbursements will decrease according to a predefined percentage that continues to increase over a five-year period. Recently, a bill was introduced in the Senate that could delay the deadlines. It does not, however, seek to eliminate the EVV requirement. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services also recently released much-anticipated guidance that, while clarifying certain points, did not lift any requirement to deploy EVV.

These recent developments, along with discussions on fraud, waste and abuse, implications for self-direction, applications in behavioral health, among other topics relevant to states, managed care organizations and providers make up the eVVolution Summit agenda.

"This is an important conversation that we thought needed to occur. There wasn't really an existing forum to foster it, so we created one," said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "Given the overwhelmingly positive response we've received and the larger than expected attendance turning out this week, we know it's going to be a valuable experience with good discussion and very tangible takeaways that will drive good, and necessary, change."

A similar event has already been scheduled for May 1-3, 2019.
White Paper Finds Need for EVV 2020 Solutions That Offer Innovation and Flexibility for Consumers, Caregivers, Providers

HMA report highlights Tellus eVV solutions that provide advanced efficiency and independence

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/15/2018 -- Health Management Associates, a leading independent national research and consulting firm in the healthcare industry, has released a special report that defines the need for ahead-of-the-curve systems that go beyond legal requirements to address the needs and preferences of the populations they serve.

The report finds that Tellus, LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) solutions, has taken significant steps to build an EVV 2020 platform that goes well beyond the short-term requirements. An EVV 2020 system, according to HMA, ensures smooth implementation, addresses service delivery concerns and helps states, managed care organizations and providers support a system that promotes independence and high-quality service while reducing the potential for fraud and abuse.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act, enacted on December 13, 2016, intended to increase health care innovation. The Cures Act relies, in part, on savings generated through reductions in fraud, waste and abuse from EVV, which uses technology to verify care is delivered.

"We asked HMA to look at what defines effective EVV 2020 systems and found that Tellus eVV goes far beyond the 21st Century Cures Act to meet customer needs while increasing the efficiency of provider agencies," said Tellus CEO Brad Levine. "We can help states implement the Cures Act simply and effectively because our advanced technologies support changing home and community-based care needs."

HMA found that Tellus eVV provides states and health plans the information required to identify caregivers and agencies that may be operating outside the scope of Medicaid rules and protocols. The technology sends almost instant information upon completion of services to begin the automated claims process and includes fraud prevention features like digital signatures and other biometrics.

"Legacy EVV systems are often inefficient and limited in function and flexibility, but Tellus anticipated the need for innovative features that allow individuals greater choice in how, when and where services are provided," said HMA Principal Juan Montanez. "The result is person-centered care combined with centralized information that improves efficiency and coordination of care."

Tellus is also sponsoring an EVV Summit later in May, opening a national conversation that's the first of its kind since the passing of the 21st Century Cures Act. HMA will present on the paper at the event.
Premier Financial Management Services Selects Tellus to Deliver Electronic Visit Verification to Self-Directed Care Market

New features and functionality promote greater freedom and mobility for consumers and caregivers

Deerfield Beach, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/03/2018 -- Premier Financial Management Services, a fiscal agent serving the self-directed care market has, after an exhaustive selection process, chosen Tellus, LLC, a leading provider of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) solutions to develop EVV functionality that enables consumers, their family members and caregivers to manage care delivery that fits their lifestyles.

Premier FMS chose to partner with Tellus to identify and develop business rules, workflows and data efficiencies that support the self-directed service delivery model and address the concerns of disability advocacy organizations regarding care delivery and independence.

EVV became a national requirement for Medicaid-reimbursed personal care services and home health care through the 21st Century Cures Act, enacted on December 13, 2016. The Cures Act, intended to increase health care innovation, relies, in part, on savings resulting from reductions in fraud, waste and abuse in the home health industry through EVV. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the EVV provision will save $290 million dollars in federal spending over ten years.

EVV also impacts the self-directed care market, comprised of individuals, or their representatives, who have decision-making authority to manage their own care. In the self-directed care model, individuals determine how, when and by whom their care needs are met. Tellus and Premier FMS expect to create a solution that considers concerns that EVV could impose limitations on independent living and decision-making.

"We're very excited for this new partnership with Tellus to combine their expertise in EVV with our experience as a fiscal agent focused on self-direction. We want to be pro-active in developing business rules that support self-direction," said Premier FMS Division Director Kimberly Rux. "Ultimately, our goal is to empower people to continue managing their care the way they are accustomed."

"As we continue to expand, we're excited to work with nationwide leaders in self-directed care like Premier FMS. Premier shares our goal of ensuring that beneficiaries continue to receive the services they need in a way that works for them," Tellus CEO Brad Levine said. "We want to make sure that EVV never impacts anyone's ability to be independent and fully participate in their communities."

Tellus was chosen to present its self-directed capabilities during an EVV Showcase at the Applied Self-Direction Workshop: Choice in Action on Monday, May 7, 2018, at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center in Lombard, Illinois.

Tellus and Premier are both sponsoring an EVV Summit later in May, opening a national conversation that's the first of its kind since the passing of the 21st Century Cures Act.
