Intelligent Controller Gets PoE Technology

A new controller with PoE support handles large numbers of cardholders and high-capacity event files in dynamically-allocated memory

Jerusalem, Israel -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/02/2010 -- Cost reductions are a top concern for most companies, and PoE technology helps by eliminating the need for expensive electrical wiring that clogs up already-overcrowded IT closets. DDS, an innovative supplier of Access Control and Security systems, specifically developed a new controller that provides its major users with a low-cost and flexible approach to installation. The TPL-DR-PoE is an IP-based security controller with on-board PoE support. Designed to be easily mounted into standard DIN rails enclosures, the TPL-DR-PoE is truly "Plug and Play", and allows straightforward installation, as devices can be installed or relocated without having to install new power cabling.

Furthermore, high capacities are supported via the controller's dynamic allocation of RAM between card holders and event buffers, providing up to 44,000 card holders and 53,500 events in memory, depending on the configuration. This on-board PoE power supply powers the TPL-DR and its 4 readers, as well as a second controller (not PoE) and its 4 readers. Each controller provides users with 12 supervised inputs, 4 outputs (extendable to 52 outputs), 4 readers (2 or 4 doors), two serial communication ports and a TCP/IP interface. A wide range of industry-standard readers is supported.

One of the first major users of the new controllers is the Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien (CHSF), France's largest hospital project, which supports 27 hospital sites around Paris and covers the health needs of a territory of more than 600 000 people.
