She will read her book to the children in attendance and offer a fun, optimistic and helpful discussion afterwards. The event's topic will center on how a young child can cope with the end of a mother's pregnancy and the arrival of a new baby. Parents and children of all ages are all welcome to attend.

Date: November 13, 2006
Time: 4:00 PM
Place: Malibu Public Library

Playdate Kids Publishing encourages parents to read to their children and influence a love of literature at an early age. It is never too early to read to your child.

Here are some tips on how to encourage your child to read:

•	Train them early that going to the library can be fun. Visit the library together regularly.
•	Buy books and keep them in a special area in their room… this can be a bookcase, closet or in designated drawer. The particular area lets children know that books are important.
•	Make sure that your child sees you reading your books. Keep some of your own books around the house.
•	Positive reinforcements help! Tell your child that they are a good reader/listener.
•	Try buying a children's magazine and read it together.
•	Choose books that you can act out. Have some silly fun reading aloud with the character's actions and voices.
•	Have your child read to you. If they are too young, tell them to give you the names of the pictures in the book.
•	Find computer programs or websites that encourage reading. Visit the websites and play the computer programs with your child.

Reading can be fun! You and your child can explore a world of imagination that only literature can offer.

Happy Children's Book Week!

Psychologist's Children's Book Teaches Children How to Cope with Moving

“Danny is Moving” was released October 10, 2006 nationwide in book stores and on Amazon.com.

Malibu, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/26/2006 -- Moving can be one of the most traumatic experiences in a child's life. It is important for parents to communicate and support their children throughout the entire process.

Playdate Kids Publishing released book number three in The Playdate Kids self-help series, authored by renowned clinical psychologist and licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist, Dr. Annie Thiel. The book, titled, "Danny is Moving" was released nationwide on October 10, 2006.

As with all The Playdate Kids books, the theme centers on a difficult life situation that many children face each day. "Danny is Moving" is about Playdate Kid, Danny, feeling afraid to move from his familiar surroundings to a new and unfamiliar area. Young children can feel very confused and anxious when dealing with big life changes.

When Danny finds out that he has to move to a new town from the house he grew up in, he begins to worry. Like all kids, he doesn't want to leave his friends, his school, or his house. He is scared to start his life all over again.

The book teaches the child that moving does not mean that you have to forget about your past. You can cherish the old memories and look forward to making new ones. It helps young children get into the mindset that moving is courageous and fun. The sequel to this book is going to involve a ground-breaking revelation in children's literature.

"Danny's story is going to continue. The Playdate Kids book series has big plans for its second self-help series," says Tena Fanning, President of Playdate Kids Publishing. "America will have to wait and see, but I can say, we will touch upon a controversial subject that many people do not openly write about in children's books."

"Deftly written by child psychologist Annie Thiel Ph D. and colorfully illustrated by W, M. Edwards, Danny Is Moving is an enthusiastically recommended for children ages three to six. An important addition to school and community libraries everywhere, this outstanding picture book entertains while its offers sound information about understanding the emotions commonly encountered when moving from one home to another, from one school to another, and from one community to another."

Playdate Kids Publishing Expands with In-House Promotion

President of Playdate Kids Publishing, Tena Fanning, promotes Executive Assistant, Michelle Jefferson to VP of Operations.

Malibu, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/28/2006 -- Tena Fanning, President of Playdate Kids Publishing-- a new children's publishing company, just announced that she has promoted her executive assistant, Michelle Jefferson to Vice President of Operations.

The promotion took place today, but the discussion had been on the table for over a week. Fanning is very excited to increase Jefferson's responsibilities and knows she is up to the task. In fact, with The Playdate Kids book series coming out next month in September, the promotion came at the perfect time. Business is going to be very demanding for Playdate Kids Publishing.

Michelle Jefferson's background experience in children's literature is quite exceptional. From a member of the national honor society in school to the editor of her school newspaper, Michelle has always been brilliant. She dove into children's literature once she became a library volunteer which lead her to work in the Barnes and Noble children's department for 6 years on and off throughout school.

Michelle attended Emerson College with an academic scholarship, and graduated highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) in only three years. Her educational background consists of a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing with an emphasis on children's literature.

During college, Jefferson worked an internship in the editorial department for the renowned Candlewick Press. They are still one of the top publishers due to their reliability for high-quality books. After college, Jefferson came out to explore the west coast, since she had graduated early. She looked into working for production and media, even though she preferred working in children's literature. She finally met Fanning and found a place where she not only used her publishing expertise, but also experienced media and production while assisting production for The Playdate Kids animated DVD movie available on Amazon.com.

When asked about her success, Jefferson replied, "I am living my dream. I love The Playdate Kids characters and I cannot wait until our musical series hits the stores. I hope to influence young children to read, become their own person and exude confidence all while doing everything possible to ensure the DVD and book series' success." Tena Fanning, President of Playdate Kids Publishing said, "I always knew Michelle would be an asset to the company. She has been a great employee and she will definitely help make The Playdate Kids become a hit book series."
