The Interlock

The five-storey building was designed by Bureau de Change for developer HGG London to sit within a 19th century terrace in Fitzrovia, taking the familiar proportions of Fitzrovia's many 19th Century terraces and recasting the brick facade to create a building of uncertain heritage – one that is simultaneously historic and contemporary. The design dismisses the traditional dimensions on London brick, instead incorporating a collection 4 misshapen and seemingly un-stackable clay blocks made from Staffordshire Blue clay.

All construction work for The Interlock was carried out by Banks Design & Build Limited within 80 weeks (1st March 2017 – 1st November 2018), to the highest possible standards, leaving much of London in complete awe and admiration. The project was not only incredibly complex for all involved but also faced a number of limitations including being on a restricted site, making the outcome even more impressive!
