Austin Professional Organizer and Senior Move Manager Honored by National Association of Professional Organizers

Certified Professional Organizer, Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist and Senior Move Manager Receive Honors

Austin, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/12/2010 -- Barry Izsak, Past President of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), was honored by its association's president, Laura Leist, with the 2010 President's Award at its annual organizing conference in Columbus, Ohio held April, 2010. The award was given to Izsak to commemorate his outstanding contributions to the National Association of Professional Organizers.

At a banquet ceremony with almost 700 professional organizers present, President Leist honored Izsak, along with nine other past NAPO presidents in honor of the association's 25th. anniversary. "NAPO would not be where it is today," Leist remarked, "had it not been for the leadership of these ten individuals." Izsak is the only president in NAPO's history to have served two consecutive 2-year terms. Under Izsak's leadership, NAPO membership more than doubled, as did the number of NAPO chapters. Many landmark programs were launched including certification for the professional organizing industry.

On the heels of earning two industry certification credentials, Certified Professional Organizer (CPO) and Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist (CRTS), this award is truly a highlight in this Austin professional organizer's career. "It is indeed gratifying to have been honored in such a meaningful way and to have earned the appreciation and respect of my colleagues," said Izsak. "It is an even greater honor knowing that my efforts have played a significant role in NAPO's phenomenal growth and heightening awareness of the professional organizing industry."

This is the second time that Izsak has been honored with the President's Award and he is one of only two in NAPO's 25-year history to have been awarded three of its most distinguished awards: President's Award (2010) and (2002); Service to NAPO (2008), and the Founders' Award (2005). He shares that distinction with Barbara Hemphill, the Paper Tiger lady.

NAPO Joins POC and NSGCD to Create The International Federation of Professional Organizers

Boston, MA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/28/2007 -- History was made in the professional organizing industry when NAPO President Standolyn Robertson and Jane Woolsey, President of Professional Organizers in Canada (POC), along with Lynne Johnson, President of the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization (NSGCD), signed a new collaboration agreement creating the International Federation of Professional Organizers (IFPOA). The official signing took place at the POC national conference that was held in Vancouver, British Columbia last month.

This agreement is a significant step toward creating a global community of professional organizing associations to elevate the organizing industry worldwide. Its mission is to foster collaboration that will advance the industry through the sharing of information and ideas.

"Everything that is being adopted is already happening informally," stated NAPO President Standolyn Robertson. "The establishment of IFPOA simply puts some structure around it and will ensure that this communication will continue in the future no matter who occupies top positions of leadership in each association."

Discussions on creating the IFPOA began in earnest in January, 2007 championed by NAPO Immediate Past President, Barry Izsak. The three founding associations have already established some basic operational guidelines which will allow for the exchange of non-confidential information including best practices, challenges and statistics.

"It's a historic milestone that reflects the rapid growth of our professional industry," said POC President, Jane Woolsey. "Our membership is keen to share and to learn from our colleagues around the globe."

The creation of this international federation heralds a new era in the professional organizing industry and acknowledges the desire of the three founding associations to create bridges of mutual understanding and collaboration with our peers worldwide. "Our profession is rapidly expanding around the world and it is only a matter of time before other professional organizing associations will be invited to join the IFPOA," remarked Lynne Johnson, president of the NSGCD.

Is Your Garage an Accident Waiting to Happen?

The goal of the 3rd Annual Garage Safety Week from August 7-13 is to promote public awareness of safety issues in the garage and make America’s garages safer. “The good news is that most of these accidents could be avoided with some basic organization and by following some simple garage safety guidelines,” says Barry Izsak, author of Organize Your Garage in No Time (Que).

Austin, TX -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/08/2006 -- In a survey of more than 500 homeowners undertaken by the Home Safety Council (HSC), a nonprofit group in Washington, DC, and GarageTek, a garage organization and storage company, nearly a third of respondents had experienced a garage-related injury. Both have partnered again this year in sponsoring the 3rd Annual Garage Safety Week from August 7-13 to promote public awareness of safety issues in the garage and make America's garages safer. "The good news is that most of these accidents could be avoided with some basic organization and by following some simple garage safety guidelines," says Barry Izsak, author of Organize Your Garage in No Time (Que).

This book has quickly become the homeowner's bible used to tackle this overwhelming home organization project and is loaded with tips to make the garage safe for the entire family. "An organized garage is a safer garage," says Izsak. He reminds us that 75% of garage-related injuries are caused by falling objects or stepping on or stumbling over things on the garage floor. He advises to store heavier items on lower shelves, get as much off the garage floor as possible and to wipe up grease and other slippery spills quickly. Other safety tips in his book include:

· Store paints, toxic chemicals and pesticides in their original containers in a locked cabinet.

· Keep flammable items away from heat sources and work areas.

· Good lighting is important. Have multiple light sources using the maximum allowable wattage.

· Do not use power tools with frayed or tattered cords and unplug them when not in use.

· Wear goggles when using power tools and gloves when working with toxic substances.

· Never exceed the specified weight recommendations for shelving units and cabinetry.

· Never leave children unattended in a garage.
