This website is the result of one year of synchronised hard work done by the team in analysing and researching the Shower Filter needs of the German people. At DuschFilterShop.de, the goal is to provide visitors with informative and up to date data regarding Shower Filters and water quality. Combined with the highest quality Shower Filter products for visitors to purchase and review.

Germany has an excessive hard water problem, with over 90% of its water coming from underground sources. Under ground water supplies contain magnesium and calcium deposits which can cause scaling on showers and build up of calcium residue on shower heads and pipes, causing damage to shower heads and also causing adverse health conditions. PureShowers.co.uk has therefore developed DuschFilterShop.de in German to provide German people with a solution to their hard water problems.

The new website is in the German language and covers topics such as; Facts About Shower Filters, Benefits of Shower Filters, Science of Shower Filters. The site integrates a Shower Filter blog which is regularly updated with the latest news in Germany regarding Shower Filters and Water Quality. Users are able to respond to the articles and discuss topics relating to water quality. A Shower Filter review system allows users to upload their own reviews and opinions of Shower Filters, creating an informed and well judged community of Shower Filter/Duschfilter users.
What Do It's Customers Say:
"Just to let you know we are absolutely delighted with our filter. Easy to fit and doesn't look bulky or 'added on' in our shower. My daughter and I love it because we both have coloured hair, and the soft water actually makes the colour last longer and definitely has a conditioning effect on the hair. Added benefit is that my skin is noticeably softer and smoother after showering. I will definitely continue to use it and certainly miss it when I have to shower away from home. Many thanks for wonderful service and a brilliant product." - Gwen and Katie Branton

Spending 8p a Day Can Save Hundreds on Hair Treatments

Dormans Park, West Sussex -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/10/2010 -- It's a given these days. Walking into a salon and getting a cut and colour is often tantamount to being approved for a small loan. Leaving aside the cut itself, most high street salons charge an average of £133 for highlights and depending upon the length of hair it can sometimes cost considerably more. Add to that an extra £65 to benefit from the skilful hands of a style director and before even sitting in the plush salon seat and having a complimentary glass of Chardonnay, you've already spent nearly £200.

Having spent all that money, it can often be disheartening to find colour fading away after only a few showers. Research shows that in every shower chemicals added to the water supply bleaches out colour treatments. Each day this exposure to chemicals in shower water continually washes out and dulls hair colour and treatments.

In the UK and most developed countries, chlorine is added to water supplies to ensure that water is safe to drink and free from biological contaminants like bacteria and other microbes. Chlorine's uses extend beyond being added to our water; it is also one of the most commonly manufactured chemicals and is typically used as a bleach in the manufacture of paper and cloth. The chemical, which is added into our water to make it safe to drink, is the same chemical which is shortening the life and vibrancy of our hair colour treatments.

The simplest and most cost-effective way to keep hair treatments vibrant and salon-perfect for longer is to remove chlorine from shower water. Many people already remove chlorine from drinking water by using such devices as Brita© drinking water filters. Chlorine can just as easily be removed from shower water by installing a clever compact filtering shower head. Shower Filters cost around 8p a day to run and are like normal shower heads but with a built-in water filter cartridge. As water passes through the replaceable cartridges, they filter out 99% of chlorine and other chemicals, bacteria and lime scale.

By removing chlorine from shower water, the bleaching and solvent agent that is stripping colour treatments from hair is eliminated. Showering in pure chemical-free water is healthier and extends the life of hair treatments and colours, ending up with a more vibrant, salon-perfect look for longer and ensuring that money spent on colour treatments isn't washing down the shower drain.

UK Homes Are Second Largest Cause of Lung Cancer

Dormans Park, West Sussex -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/12/2010 -- UK Homes And Showers Expose People To Cancer Causing Airborne Radon Gases. The World Health Organisation (WHO) Announced That The Second Biggest Cause Of Lung Cancer Is Through Low To Medium Exposure To Radon Gases In Homes.[1]

Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer in the world. However, very few know that the second biggest cause of lung cancer is radon exposure in homes. Dr. Maria Neira of WHO (World Health Organisation): "Most radon-induced lung cancers occur from low and medium dose exposures in people's homes. Radon is the second most important cause of lung cancer after smoking in many countries".[1] In fact it accounts for 21,000 deaths a year (in America alone) for non-smokers. Conversely, second-hand smoke only accounts for 3,000 deaths per year. [2]

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas borne out of the decay of uranium. Some might think that uranium is something that is only to be found in nuclear power stations, but in fact every square mile of the earth contains 1 gramme of uranium, which adds up to a lot of uranium and radon. Radon seeps into enclosed spaces like mines and also into underground water supplies where it is trapped within this water. A report released by the National Academy of Sciences states that there is a link between tap water and radon-induced lung cancer. [3]

One of the largest exposures to radon gases received daily is through inhalation of radon released from shower water. During showers radon particles are released as gases from hot water into the air as steam. The steam contains radon and within the confined space of showers and bathrooms, substantial amounts of radon gases are inhaled. The UK's Health Protection Agency state that radon exposures in many homes are close to those received by uranium miners.[4]

The most effective and environmentally friendly way to protect against radon gases in the shower is to install a shower filter. Shower filters are easy-to-install shower heads that have an in-built water filter. As the radon particles pass through the filter, they are trapped and therefore make shower water free from radon. Shower filters have replaceable cartridges and also eliminate other impurities like; chlorine, magnesium, heavy metals, lime scale and other contaminants that can cause adverse health effects.

The UK's Health Protection Agency provide radon test kits for homes and can be purchased by calling 01235 822 622.

Shirley Chan of London says: "I have been using the shower filter for three weeks now and I have noticed the difference in my skin and hair.
Stephen Boyle of Essex says: "It's easy to install. Well after two weeks since putting the filter on my shower, it's great. I never realised how much damage chlorine does to the skin."

Jacqueline Gallagher of Derry says: "The filter does everything it promised and I couldn't be happier. I've recommended it to all my friends and am telling all my salon clients of the benefits."
