Track and Protect Mobile Device Security Application Shown off at International CTIA Wireless 2011

Operators, affiliate resellers invited to learn how one application can protect millions of phones against loss or theft

Zaandam, North Holland -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/28/2011 -- Klomptek, an innovative software development company specializing in mobile device management and security solutions, will be speaking to mobile operators and affiliate resellers on the importance of remote mobile management and security at the International CTIA Wireless 2011. Klomptek's highly acclaimed Track and Protect (TnP) security application was selected as a second-round finalist in the AT&T Open Call contest, and will be demonstrated live to its Developer Program judges to show how the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. can help its users easily monitor, lock and wipe data from lost or stolen mobile devices.

Statistics vary worldwide, but as many as 30 percent of mobile devices in service in the U.S. -- about 70 million phones and tablets -- go missing each year. London police estimate roughly 10,000 phones are reported stolen in the city, while nearly 1,500 devices are left behind in Washington-Baltimore taxis each month. A report from the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association found that an average of one mobile phone is stolen every three minutes from seemingly safe places like cars, restaurants and clubs, and even home or the workplace.

"No one is immune to theft or loss, and mobile operator giants like AT&T see the reality of this daily," says Robert Harmsen, CEO of Klomptek. "Helping subscribers to protect the devices upon which we've all become dependent is a benefit to carriers that want to provide a sense of security – it's like pre-installing peace of mind."

Track and Protect is a unique remote management tool and security application that guards mobile devices against theft or loss. The application secures content on a smartphone through remote commands sent via the TnP web service, which can also be accessed to accurately track the location of a missing mobile device via GPS or carrier network, listen to audio of the phone's current surroundings and capture images of the device's current whereabouts via remote camera control, even after illegal SIM change. TnP enables the collection of enough information -- including current location, new phone number, operator ID and audio and photos -- to recover a lost or stolen mobile device, and to aid in generating a police report. TnP is currently available in 190 countries for BlackBerry, Symbian and Android devices, including support for Samsung Galaxy tablets.

"If one of those 1,500 people who lost their phone in a Baltimore taxi last month had Track and Protect installed, they could use another mobile to trace and chase, or even snap photos from the camera to see if there was anything recognizable in the phone's surroundings," said Harmsen, referencing a recent success story from a Track and Protect user who left his phone in a taxi and was able to recover the device after giving specific details about the driver's location. "One less phone that had to be replaced."

Wireless operators, resellers, affiliates and other potential partners can arrange a private meeting and demonstration at the International CTIA Wireless 2011 show, held March 22-24 in Orlando, FL, by contacting Robert Harmsen at robert.harmsen@klomptek.com or by sending an SMS message to +31634187437.

Klomptek Optimizes Its Track and Protect (TnP) Mobile Device Security Service for New Nokia N8 and C7 Smartphones

"Auto-mugshot" feature utilizes high-definition camera as a built-in defense against theft

Zaandam, North Holland -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/01/2010 -- Users of recently released Nokia N8 and C7 smartphones can take advantage of additional features unique to the Track and Protect (TnP) security application to protect their devices from loss or theft, including a new "auto-mugshot" feature that will capture a photo of anyone attempting to break the phone's passcode. Klomptek, an innovative software development company specializing in mobile device management and security solutions, has optimized its TnP client-server web security service with cutting-edge remote security features that uses both the N8's front and main 12-megapixel camera as a built-in crime safeguard.

If the N8 or C7 device is locked -- either at startup, on scheduled lock, or after a remote lock via the TnP web-based user panel -- a six-digit personal passcode is required to re-enable the phone's features. After a third mistyped identification attempt, TnP activates the front camera of the phone without warning, taking a mugshot of the person trying to unlock the phone and displaying it on the owner's account page at www.trackandprotect.com. In addition, the location of the phone is displayed on a map and, if the SIM has been changed, TnP will report the new phone number and operator ID.

"The 'auto-mugshot' feature optimized for N8 and C7 smartphones is distinct to Track and Protect," said Robert Harmsen, CEO of Klomptek. "The front face camera produces good-quality, recognizable images even in low-light conditions, which can make all the difference when it comes to finding the person who has your phone. Those high-res photography components become an additional measure against theft, which is a use that Nokia may not have anticipated while in development, but can ultimately help protect N8 and C7 users."

TnP is a remote management tool and security application that allows users to monitor, lock and wipe data from a lost or stolen cell phone. In addition to being able to secure content on the device through remote commands sent via the TnP web service, users are able to track the location of the missing phone in real time through the TnP online mapping system and take photographs from the device of its present surroundings, with the ability to listen in and capture images of the phone's current possessor. TnP allows users to collect enough information -- including current location, new phone number, operator ID and facial photographs -- to generate a substantive police report. All features are operable even after illegal SIM change.

The Nokia N8 began shipping pre-orders on September 30, 2010, and broad availability to Nokia retail stores is expected in the coming weeks. The Nokia N8 has received the highest amount of consumer pre-orders in Nokia history, with at least 10,000 units a week estimated to ship to the U.K. alone. The Nokia C7 is scheduled to hit the shelves the first week of November 2010.
