Instagram Success Stories - Transforming a Desk Job Into an Adventure Photography Business

Utilizing Instagram To Work With Brands and Create A Successful Photography Business

Manhattan Beach, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/18/2020 -- In 2009 Adventure Photographer Gregg Jaden had 2 near death experiences that led to many years of healing. One in 2009 when a car turned in front of him almost causing the crash and another in 2015, which was aftermath related to the original crash. Prior to this, he was a Marketing Exec that took photos for fun. He started taking photos and posting them in Instagram which led to creating a photography business from this life changing event. "After posting my travels on Instagram, my following started to grow significantly and became very engaged globally" says Jaden. All this tragedy led him to create - Gregg Jaden Studios.

One location on Jaden's radar was Hang Son Doong Vietnam, the largest cave in the world. He saw a NatGeo feature of some photos from a rare find and new discovery of the largest cave in the world, Hang Son Doong (mountain river cave). It was newly explored in 2013. The cave is Depth max. 150 metres (490 ft) Length approx. 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) "It was one of those things I just had to do it" says Jaden.

"After some traction on Instagram, the next logical step was to turn this into a business. I then started pursuing Brand partnerships for the expedition trip to Vietnam" says Jaden.

After extensive research on which Brands might be a good fit, he started to reach out to see if they would like to work with him on this project. He had 6 months to prepare for the 5 day off the grid expedition.

"I prepared a pitch deck to present my project concepts and ideas for this trip. I managed to secure some deals with some major Brands to help fund this adventure. This was a game changer for me. After I returned home, utilizing Instagram, I posted some images from that trip. The response was great. It led to more sponsorship and new projects with Fortune Brands"says Jaden.

Jaden attributes most of his success to Instagram. "It was key for any Brand trust my work and take a chance on my vision for proposed projects. It was so much more powerful than showcasing my work on a website." Says Jaden.

Strategy and Tips For Starting a Business using Instagram

Anyone can do this. All it takes is passion and determination to succeed. Successful people's lives are transformed by taking bad experiences and finding some good in it.

Here are some tips anyone can use to fuel their own Instagram growth for any industry.

Keep it Simple Always!

When approaching Brands or even local businesses for getting hired, have a concept for them but simplify it so they understand the vision. Its a bigger advantage to offer a team with more skillset as an overall solution for the prospect this. When approaching a Brand, showcase your trustworthy company to help solve their visual content problems. Have a professional company website to help with your own reputation.

Post your work on Instagram regularly. Keep things fresh and exciting posting new content like workflow, BTS, how to vids, workspace, travel vids, tips and tricks, latest apps, people that inspire you or even ask a question to help with engagement and growth. Remember, it doesn't have to be an expedition like Gregg Jaden's experience. These tips are for any business you are approaching. Anyone can easily start with street shots, bokeh portraits or even practicing taking product photos, using natural window light or even a latte at a local coffee shop.

Always Deliver on Time and be Punctual

Never avoid client communication. If they reject your idea they aren't rejecting you. Don't get discouraged. It is part of business. The goal is to learn from it and offer a solution to their objections. Some deals take a lot of back and forth to get the concept right.

"I made sure I proposed a project to Brands that was a massive benefit to them. I focused on Brands and their current marketing initiatives and answered the question on how I could enhance their current goals for them. says Jaden.

Be an Extension of Their Marketing Team

When approaching Brands remember they will have marketing teams in place. Offer skills and concept ideas that will be a natural extension of their marketing efforts but give them big results. This is where your strategy can shine. Offering concepts that their current marketing folks have not explored yet by selling them on the niche skillset.

Life is all About Relationships

Building any Brand relationship is key. Happy clients are notorious for repeat business. Develop a win/win business relationship and always learn more about the brand and any upcoming opportunities.

Solve an Existing Problem

When approaching Brands always have a solution to an existing problems you uncover during the discovery phase. Research the Brand as much as possible. Learn what their quarterly projections are, marketing goals and what products/market segments they will be focusing on. Once you acquire more knowledge then approach them with a new, fresh idea that they can't refuse.

4 Must See Arizona Road Tripping Attractions

Road tripping in Arizona is more than just a stop at the Grand Canyon and a hike. Here are 4 top rated attractions to visit when sight seeing in Arizona.

Los Angeles, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/14/2020 -- Arizona is known for vast landscapes and incredible road trip locations. For a road trip this summer remember to check the advisories at Visit Arizona website.

Tourists travel throughout the year to Arizona for it's incredible canyons and red rock landscapes. The State is known for its red rock adventures and road trips to see breathtaking sights. Expect to see miles of red rock, flood formed canyons, desserts, lakes, mountains, waterfalls, and even volcanos all while sightseeing in Arizona.

Here Are 4 Top Rated Attractions in Arizona.

1 - LAKE POWELL

It is estimated that over three million people visit Lake Powell every single year. This man-made reservoir is 400 feet deep and is 186 miles long. It forms off the Colorado River right in the middle of Arizona and Utah. There are many ways to experience this beautiful turquoise lake. You can tour this hot spot foot or boat, or even flying in a plane check for local tour companies to see what they offer.

Gregg Jaden @greggjaden_ , a top travel Instagrammer and pro photographer, shows us a top down view before embarking on a Lake Powell adventure. Always searching for new angles, he and his team made it a point to get to the ridge a few hours before sunset as it provides gorgeous views. This made it so they could get the incredible shot of the red rock and turquoise water.

2 - UPPER ANTELOPE CANYON

Located in Page, Arizona is the one of a kind Antelope Canyon which is divided into two different parts. The upper and lower canyon. Many years of wind and water have created massive flash floods to carve these beautiful canyons. There are a few different tours offered for the Upper Antelope Canyon but each tour requires making reservations ahead of time. Don't forget a camera! Any camera will do. For photographers its best to work fast as there are other tours inside the canyon. Work with the angles and ask the knowledgeable guides they usually know.

Inside Upper Antelope Canyon, Gregg Jaden shows the massive scale using his Sony Alpha a7RIII camera + 12-24mm G Sony lens. "Whenever I explore places with other tourists, I always try to find ways to capture new angles that haven't been shot before. Whenever I can, I try to elevate myself to shoot down on a location to get a more dynamic perspective." says Jaden. To visit Upper and Lower Canyon it requires a guided tours. Best way is to search the companies offering tours and talk to each one to understand what is included with each tour. The take about an hour and a half to complete.

3 - GRAND CANYON

The Grand Canyon is one of the most iconic locations in America. Visiting the Grand Canyon more than once can even showcase new beautiful scenery and endless angles to shoot. This astonishing canyon is a mile deep and up to 18 miles wide. The Grand Canyon National Park itself is 277 miles right along the Colorado River.

Gregg Jaden's timeless capture of the Grand Canyon shows the scale of its vastness. The Grand Canyon even changes shades of color depending on the time of year. Depending on the light and time of day, the colors of the rocks can change from brown, orange, red to even a blue tone at blue hour.

North Rim vs. South Rim

How to decide which is more photogenic? The North Rim or the South Rim? The South Rim is more easily accessible from the city of Sedona, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. The North Rim traditionally is quieter as far as tourists go but has many unique angles. The North Rim is higher in elevation and can get cooler in temperature.

4 - HORSESHOE BEND

This is a non-negotiable must see in Arizona! Horseshoe Bend and its stunning rock formations. Located in Page, Arizona which is this location is super easy to get to and only a few minute walk to the rim. From the parking area, it is only a 0.6-mile walk to the rim of the bend. After this short walk you will be at the top of Horseshoe Bend rim. Be careful this cliff edge is 984 feet hight and wind gusts can easily blow a person off the edge. Keep a safe distance at all times. Bring a hat in the summer the desert temperatures can spike as high at 110 degrees F. Bring lots of water.

As far at light goes, the light is different throughout the day but the best time is 3 hours before sunset for best positioning for sunset. Jaden's shot was just before sunset. Sunset is most likely one of the best times to take a photo of this location. Its one of America's most iconic photo spot, or just wander around the edge and take in the scene.

CEO of an Award-winning ad agency turned adventure travel photographer, has amazed an impressive and well engaged following since beginning his adventures into photography 5 years ago. I began taking photos around Banff Canada, California and Arizona and quickly evolved overseas to the Largest Cave in the World Hang Son Doong Vietnam. In the series, Jaden harnesses the powerful energy of earth into timeless compositions. Shooting exclusively with Sony Alpha cameras for the last 4 years, his art displays the crisp intention of his storytelling. Even the feel to his photos makes it difficult to know the exact location. "I always had a deep love for our planet and its all encompassing energy. Taking photos in the wilderness just seemed to be a natural fit for me." Says Jaden. He has had the opportunity to explore some of the most rare finds on earth like Hang Son Doong, located in central Vietnam.

Jaden was always determined to explore some carefully selected places off the grid. Focussing less on office duty and more on Travel Adventure Photography his life took a whole new form. "I really tried to embrace the changes in my life no matter how drastic they were. I always felt it was meant to be on some level for me spiritually to pursue photography and filmmaking. Being a CEO and travel photographer, the desire to experience storytelling while traveling needed to happen. I was obsessed to explore the Largest Cave in the World. I didn't know why I just felt I had to go there. Hang Son Doong was no easy trek. For starters, each year only a couple hundred permits are issued. Then, you have to qualify with being physically fit training 6 months prior to the expedition. The trek is around 80 km total over 5 days, off the grid, round trip all on foot carrying 40-60 lbs of gear in my backpack. We spent 3 days in harness for the extensive rock climbing. We trekked thought almost 50 rivers, avoided hundreds of camouflaged, deadly poisonous Green Viper Snakes. Finally, trekking through leech abundant jungle terrain to get to the glorious doline (where the ceiling caved in) on the third day. I snapped some of my favorite photos I've ever taken at this incredible location. Son Doong is one of the only caves in the world with greenery inside it. The mind-blowing feeling of being speechless while submersed deep inside the Earth is difficult to put into words." Jaden recalls.

Next, Jaden kept searching for more rare finds. This brought him to the western parts of Canada to explore a seasonal melting glacier lake at the top of a mountain. The only way to get there is by helicopter. "Seeing nature's powerful force unfolding before my eyes on top of a mountain was exhilarating. I'm obsessed with composition and story. I usually try to depict the most powerful story I can when shooting any location. I try to give new energy to a location no matter how many times it's been photographed. This rare glacier fortunately was a one of a kind adventure which left me mesmerized. Being submersed in complete silence and total serenity with subtle sounds of a breeze mixed with periodic loud boom sounds of ice breaking underneath us as the snow melts. Just enough ice had melted to form a pristine turquoise glacier stream perfect for a day of kayaking, photos and film." says Jaden.

Creating landscape photography is no easy task. Sometimes it requires going off the grid or on major treks for days to get the shot. When asked about his techniques, "I do a lot of handheld shooting. I use tripods in low light situations and for astro. Most of my shots where you see a person in the shot, it's an athlete, model or myself. Hang Son Doing is a perfect example. All of these images we had athletes climb 100-200 meter stalagmites for the backlit shots. All of my MilkyWay shots was an actual person, or myself, that held their breath to stay perfectly still for the shot. I also look for ways to uniquely light my environments to add some additional sense of wonder. I use Adobe Lightroom for all of my edits and like to keep it pretty basic. A lot of my camera gear and settings Il post on my Instagram to help other photographers wanting to achieve a similar effect. I want the image to be as authentic as possible created raw inside the camera." says Jaden.

Gregg Jaden Transforms Travel Photography Business After He Almost Died Twice

This travel adventure photographer who had overcome 2 Near-Death Experiences to turn travel and vacations into a growing business.

Manhattan Beach, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/11/2020 -- Gregg Jaden , @greggjaden_ on Instagram on Instagram or or @greggjaden YouTube, is a travel photographer who understands how to photograph the extreme. With an array of Sony cameras at his disposal, he captures moments of beauty around the world in its most breathtaking form. He himself is no stranger to stolen moments. Having overcome 2 Near-Death Experiences, the first NDE was forced to heal and recover for almost 7 years before propelling him and his camera gear to Hang Son Doong, the World's Largest Cave. He and his lens have an appreciation for the living. It's why the former C-Level Executive was recently named Sony Alpha Universe"s Top Travel/Adventure Photographers to follow on Instagram.

"As I went through this experience, I literally thought I was going to die, twice. First a car crash then an emergency neck surgery, as a result of the same car crash, was a catalyst for a major life redesign. After you have been to the other-side and back I guarantee you will view human life differently. It is surreal being surrounded by completely intense unconditional love that made me almost not want to return to earth. Luckily, I had a choice. Obsessed with my new life I never take any moment for granted. The feeling of being cross-eyed exhausted fades away as I travel off the grid to photograph some of the most amazing places on earth that really can't be put into words." says Jaden.

Demonstrating his desire for contribution on helping our planet, Gregg continually speaks at events to help others in business, spirituality and environmental issues. He also loves partnering with mission-based Brands and charities such as @LonelyWhale, the Anthony Robbins Foundation and various non-profit environmental disaster relief organizations. He has the patience to wade through the chaos of hundreds of still moments for a singular, insular image that portrays the visual story. Much like his first NDE, when the physical demands of his own recovery, opened the door for a new opportunity of creative expression.

To be a top travel photographer is no easy task. Gregg displays his landscape photography and best travel photos on social media. "I have no rear view mirror and always look ahead. It's a habit I developed long ago. I want to continue to help and inspire people to live their lives to the fullest and follow their soul's guidance with passion. Utilizing my digital ad agency experience, I pitch adventurous concepts to Brands while delivering simplified converting campaigns. I always keep it simple. Having a deep understanding of what happens when we die gives me tremendous clarity I utilize when strategizing with Brands. This prevents any overthinking while understanding brand objectives. I use this guidance to choose locations for brand product concepts I photograph/film while sharing these experiences with the world" says Jaden.

His unexpected life change gave him the opportunity to take a step back and realize there was more to life than making money and building companies. While healing, Jaden started to put into action his plan to do what he loves. "The healing process was so long and painful realizing my life was adjusting whether I liked it or not. I had to accept it and deal with as best I could. I remember going to so many doctor appointments and doing business calls trying to close accounts from the little room while I waited for the doctor. My new routine became healing from injuries and stopping my company from going under. This is where photography and film saved me. Thankfully, it paid off with patience and perseverance. " says Jaden.

"Social media played a huge role for my new direction. It was crucial for getting my art seen by Brands. I have been able to meet so many incredible souls along my journey around the world while learning about their cultures. I wanted to tell stories that inspired others. Life is a precious gift many of us take for granted. Ive always been spiritual since a young age and I recommend a spiritual awakening which is extremely valuable to anyone. Once a person is enlightened, they will be able to "feel" their way through life and navigate toward their purpose. Guided toward contribution for our planet the way their soul was meant to. As humans, we seek to solve existing problems in business analytically, but the real impact is when your business cares about it's customers with a soul's obsession is when real contribution happens." says Jaden

Like most businesses, before the NDE, Gregg had goals, forecasts, monthly objectives and business planning/execution schedules. When his life suddenly changed, in a split second, survival became the forced priority. "Each day became about pain management, healing and company survival. In a lot of ways it was the worst and best experience of my life that really put everything on track. My existing company was thriving, but something was missing, the NDE's gave me an unexpected crazy new direction. The excitement of not knowing where I was headed forced me to rely on trusting my soul's guidance (gut feeling), while making the right choices, getting back to success." says Jaden
