Aesthetic Medicine Symposium With Botox Training Questions Answered

The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium offers the most comprehensive clinical botox ® training for physicians looking to add aesthetic medicine to their existing practices, or to launch a medical spa. The IAPAM’s Symposium offers training in all the top 5 minimally invasive modalities, to ensure that physicians add both in-demand procedures and maximum profit to their practices.

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/18/2012 -- At the IAPAM's ( http://www.iapam.com ) Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with Botox ®Training ( http://iapam.com/aesthetic-medicine-symposium-botox-training ), physicians learn botox ® best practices as well as how to incorporate other complementary aesthetic procedures like physician directed skincare and chemical peels into a successful practice.

While injectables are important, physicians have found that more profit can be realized by packaging injectables with other modalities, such as microdermabrasion or laser skin rejuvenation.

In the newest video in The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Best Practices Video Series, Jeff Russell, Executive Director of the IAPAM, outlines the economic benefits of packaging injectables with other modalities, such as medical microderm, chemical peels or physician directed skin care, and the IAPAM's Symposium offers instruction in all these aesthetic medicine procedures.

IAPAM's NEW Video: Botox ® Training Tips for a Financially Profitable Aesthetic Practice at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tjEjjQdMeo

In this video, Mr. Russell explains that there is little profit in only offering Botox ®. One only makes $100-150 a patient and the physician only sees a patient 3 times a year, so for an entire year one makes $300-450 for one Botox ® patient. Whereas, the cost to provide a chemical peel treatment is $25 ($20 labour, $5 products) and the retail is typically around $125, so the profit is $100, and the patient needs to come back once a month, so with a chemical peel patient, the physician makes $1,200/year versus $300-450 for a Botox ® patient. The IAPAM's Symposium teaches how to combine these modalities so physicians can make $1,650/year per patient (plus another $300-500 on skin care and mineral makeup sales).

What is important to the IAPAM is that when physicians finish the weekend, they have everything they need to start offering aesthetics procedures right afterwards. That is why the IAPAM also includes a 19 DVD training kit, that covers all of the operational parts of an aesthetic practice as well as a clinical overview of Botox ® and dermal filler injections.

Finally, Mr. Russell shares that, "we are hearing from our members that physician directed skin care, as well as chemical peels and microdermabrasion are in tremendous demand by patients, and we are seeing a correlating increase in the demand for our Symposium training. Physicians are realizing they not only need to offer botox ® treatments to their patients, but also laser hair removal, IPL skin rejuvenation, etc. Organizations, like the IAPAM, educate physicians on how to package treatments for the most appealing and profitable outcomes." Mr. Russell has also received comments from IAPAM members regarding "the importance of adding an hCG/medical weight management offering to patients, in order to grow a practice."

Statistics Confirm Increased Demand for Botox Correlates to Increase in Botox Training

The IAPAM has identified a correlation between the 2012 increase in attendees at its hands-on Symposium with Botox ® Training, and the growth in 2011 in botox ® injections, dermal filler procedures and other non-surgical treatments. Physicians looking to combat declining insurance reimbursements are looking to add aesthetic medicine procedures like botox ®, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion and chemical peels to their practices.

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/29/2012 -- Through discussion with its members, and by analyzing recent aesthetic medicine statistics, like the ASPS 2011 Plastic Surgery Procedural Statistics and the ASAPS's Cosmetic Surgery National Data Bank Statistics 2011, the IAPAM ( http://www.iapam.com ) has identified that in 2011, aesthetic medicine physicians were preforming more botox ® and other cosmetic injectables procedures, more chemical peel treatments, more laser skin rejuvenation, and more medical microdermabrasions vs. more invasive treatments.

As the ASAPS reports in March 2012, "Americans spent nearly $10 billion on cosmetic procedures in 2011. Of that total ..... $1.7 billion was spent on injectable procedures; $1.6 billion was spent on skin rejuvenation procedures; and over $360 million was spent on other nonsurgical procedures, including laser hair removal and laser treatment of leg veins."

The ASAPS also found that from 1997 to 2011, there was a 356% increase in the total number of "minimally-invasive procedures such as injectables, skin resurfacing and laser procedures." In support of this tremendous market growth, the IAPAM has tailored its educational programs, like its Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with Botox ® Training ( http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com ), to ensure physicians have hands-on botox ® training ( http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com/botoxtraining.html ), laser training ( http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com/laser-training ) and medical microdermabrasion training ( http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com/microdermabrasion-training ), and can start offering aesthetic medical procedures immediately after attending.

Also, for the first time, the ASAPS reported on "the total number of non-surgical procedures being performed in their practices by BOTH physicians and their physician assistants and nurse injectors." The results of this expanded survey showed almost a doubling in the numbers of minimally invasive procedures that were actually being performed from 2010 to 2011:

Botulinum Toxin Type A: 4,030,318 procedures performed in 2011
Hyaluronic Acid: 1,662,480 procedures performed in 2011
Laser Hair Removal: 1,452,880 procedures performed in 2011
Microdermabrasion: 794,357 procedures performed in 2011
IPL Laser Treatment: 726,125 procedures performed in 2011

Since the key to growth in 2012 will be offering lower cost, short term procedures (i.e. botox ®, dermal fillers, chemical peels, physician-directed skin care, laser skin rejuvenation, and medical microdermabrasion) versus higher cost, long term procedures (i.e. breast augmentation and tummy tucks), physicians will seek out professional training programs, offered in medical facilities not hotel rooms, and taught by physicians and other expertly trained medical and business personnel. The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposiums with Botox ® Training, Aesthetic Medicine Practice Start-Up Workshops and hCG Medical Weight Management Seminars ( http://www.hcgtraining.com ), are all designed by physicians for physicians, to meet this essential educational need.

Physicians Testify That IAPAM's Symposium With Botox Training is an "Exceptional Value"

From its comprehensive hCG training to hands-on botox training, the first 2012 reviews from physicians for the IAPAM's suite of training programs have been just been published. Physicians rate the IAPAM's Botox Training and hCG Training as a "5 star value."

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/08/2012 -- Unanimously, physicians rave about the physician-lead training provided at the IAPAM's unique and respected Aesthetic Medicine Symposium (http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com) and the associated hCG Physician Training (http://www.hcgtraining.com). This is the only training in North America to offer hands-on, live demo and didactic instruction covering botox ® training, laser training, hCG training, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermal fillers, and the business of adding aesthetic medicine to a practice - all in one weekend.

The IAPAM's (http://www.iapam.com) Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with botox ® training is different than any other educational program offered in North America. No other program in the U.S. offers this combination of comprehensive training in all the minimally invasive modalities in 2 days. The IAPAM is where the world's physicians, of all medical specialties, come together to learn and share their experiences in aesthetic medicine. The IAPAM offers a suite of aesthetic medicine training programs from botox ® training to hCG training, along with aesthetic practice business training and membership in the IAPAM offers long term support to physicians adding botox ®, hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin) and other aesthetic medicine treatment to a practice. Finally, unlike programs offered by a private company, attendees of the Aesthetic Medicine Symposium receive certification by the IAPAM, a voluntary professional association of physicians and supporters, which sets standards for the aesthetic medical profession.

Reviews from physicians tell the story. Since 2006, over 1,000 physicians have taken the IAPAM's aesthetic medicine training: Aesthetic Medicine Symposium, Physician hCG Medical Weight Management Training, Botox ® Training, Dermal Filler Training, Advanced Filler Training, and Chemical Peel Training, and in January 2012, here is what they have said:

IAPAM Publishes Its Top Aesthetic Medicine Trends for 2012

The International Association For Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM) has surveyed its membership, its medical faculty, and has consulted with numerous experts in aesthetic medicine, to develop a forecast for the top aesthetic medicine treatments or trends physicians can expect to see in 2012. Ultimately, physicians with successful aesthetic practices in 2012, will need to offer "combination" treatment packages, integrating: botox and other facial injectables, medical skin care, IPL/laser rejuvenation and non-invasive body contouring.

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/05/2012 -- The IAPAM sees the market for minimally-invasive procedures continuing to grow in 2012. Dr. Tom D. Wang, President of the AAFPRS agrees that "consumer interest in aesthetic procedures and treatment has continued in strong fashion. However, some effects from the recent recession still linger. Some patients [are] choosing to have less invasive injectable treatments or non-surgical procedures in an effort to defer facial surgery for the time being." To capture this knowledgeable patient population, physicians must be expertly trained (e.g. IAPAM's physician-lead botox training), and they need to offer the latest aesthetic medicine procedures, utilizing the most current technologies and must package synergistic treatments for the most effective, yet cost effective results.

1. Combining Non-Invasive Procedures Gives the Best Results
Dr. Gregory Buford, notes that, "as we head into 2012, consumers are becoming more savvy about which tips and tricks from their practitioners really work and which do not." Drs. Tess Mauricio and Buford see "more application and research on combination treatments. More aesthetic providers are abandoning mono-therapy and combining medical skin care, facial injectables, and laser conditioning and offering these synergistic packages to their clients. This "Holy Triad" of facial rejuvenation can be extremely effective in addressing age-related changes on multiple levels and produce results far more dramatic than previously seen."

The IAPAM agrees that successful aesthetic practices are those that offer patients a combination of minimally invasive procedures. Just offering Botox ® alone is not enough to provide a physician with a successful, and more importantly, a profitable aesthetic practice. "The key is combining neurotoxins like Botox ®, Dysport ® or Xeomin ® with other complementary skin rejuvenation procedures," says Jeff Russell, IAPAM Executive Director.

2. New Cosmetic Injectables will Offer Choice to Consumers
New neurotoxins, specifically Xeomin ®, will capture increasing segments of the injectables market in 2012. Dermatologist, Dr. Bruce Katz, comments that, "Xeomin ®, the latest neurotoxin [will] rival Botox ®" in 2012. Dr. Francesca Fuso mentions, "there are new neurotoxins that are still undergoing clinical trials. They will have the same effect as Botox ®, but instead of being injected, they can be applied topically. If these new products are approved in 2012, they will provide patients with yet another option in a year of options." Finally, new fillers, such as Belotero ® and LaViv ® will offer increased choice to both physicians and patients in the dermal filler arena. Dr. Mitchel Goldman MD, recognizes that, "the approval of LaViv ® the first autologous fibroblast filler and Belotero ® along with the FDA approval of Lip Augmentation with Restylane ® will enhance the use of fillers in 2012 and provide additional products to enhance patient care."

3. Expanded Uses for Neurotoxins
Dr. Houtan Chaboki, offers an interesting insight into alternative uses for Botox ® and other neurotoxins. One trend [that he is seeing] is the use of neuromodulators (Botox & Dysport) to reshape the face, instead of wrinkles. From microbotox to migraines to multiple sclerosis, the uses and markets for neurotoxins will continue to expand in 2012.

4. Higher Demand for Non-Invasive Body Contouring Treatments
Non-invasive devices like the Zerona ® and VelaSmooth ® will continue reshaping the body, with new entrants expected in 2012. Dr. Mitchel Goldman MD adds, "the advancement of lasers and energy devices such as Ulthera's focused ultrasound, Bela Countour ® and Exilis radiofrequency and Lutronic's advanced Nd:YAG laser will enhance treatment of skin laxity and pigmented lesions."

5. Turning Back the Hands of Time
Dr. Fusco also envisions that, "in 2012 lots of people will be having work done on their hands." Turning back 'the hands of time' of the hands typically requires a combination of dermal fillers as well as IPL/laser rejuvenation to help eliminate age/sun spots.

6. Lasers are For More than Hair Removal
Dr. Bruce Katz predicts "a higher demand for laser treatments in 2012. Some of the newer laser treatments offer truly compelling results without invasive surgery, significant pain and substantial downtime." IPL (Intense Pulse Light) and lasers can accomplish a full range of anti-aging treatments including: skin tightening, vein removal, removal of age and sun spots, skin resurfacing, as well as treating acne scars and rosacea.

Conclusion
The market for anti-aging treatments will continue to grow in 2012. With new technologies, as well as new ways to bundle and market existing procedures, the trend toward more minimally invasive procedures does not appear to be going away any time soon. Jeff Russell, Executive Director of the IAPAM concludes that, "as we have seen with our past annual trend predictions, the key is to create an anti-aging program for each patient's needs. Patients just do not come in for Botox ®; they want a combination of anti-aging treatments which often includes neurotoxins, dermal fillers and skin rejuvenation with chemical peels, microdermabrasion and skin care."

Learn from Leading Dermatologists at IAPAM's Symposium With Botox Training

The IAPAM continues to offer the industry's best clinical, hands-on, aesthetic medicine training in the most advanced skin care procedures. The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is a weekend training program, designed by physicians for physicians, and supports the addition of the top 5 minimally invasive procedures: botox, dermal fillers, lasers, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and hCG for Weight Loss to an existing practice or the launch of a medical spa

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/11/2010 -- Over 700 physicians and their staff have attended the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposiums. These respected and well attended multi-day educational programs are coveted forums for physicians eager to safely, profitably and successfully add botox, hCG medical weight loss, and other aesthetic modalities to their existing practices, or to launch a medical spa. The IAPAM's Symposium is the only program which gives physicians an opportunity to learn from two board-certified dermatologists, who are true experts of the skin and cosmetic injectables. In order to ensure doctors learn the best injection techniques, the botox training is done in a multi-million dollar medical facility, not in a hotel room. In addition, the Symposium does not allow exhibitors, giving physicians more time for education.

Physicians who attend the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium can revisit their educational experience. Registrants receive the IAPAM's 3 comprehensive clinical training DVD's, offering focused instruction on: botox training, dermal filler training and microdermabrasion training. The three DVD's are hosted by IAPAM faculty member, Dr. Marc Scheiner, and cover three key anti-aging treatment areas:

Botox Training,
Dermal Filler Training, and
Microdermabrasion training.

Equally, Symposium attendees receive 19 Cosmetic Practice training DVD's. These resources allow doctors and their staff to re-immerse themselves in IAPAM's training at their convenience. A preview of the IAPAM's Symposium can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of-jMxVNLOY

Dr. Scheiner, applauds courses like the IAPAM's, because it "allows the physician to inject several live patients" which truly gives the "confidence necessary to begin immediately offering the procedure."

Dr. Jennifer Linder, who also instructs at the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium adds, "in order to perform Botox treatments well, one must understand the medication and how it specifically works. Physicians must know how to appropriately dilute the product and how to safely and effectively administer it. Training should provide an in-depth discussion of facial anatomy and how to evaluate muscle movements to decide on product placement. One must understand the details of how Botox interacts with the muscles, the natural variations of the musculature of the face, as well as how to achieve beautiful aesthetic results by decreasing muscle contraction in a designed and organized fashion. Effective training programs, like the IAPAM's Symposium, should prepare doctors to effectively handle any adverse events both from a medical standpoint, as well as helping the patient to understand the situation. Marketing assistance is also very valuable, and good training seminars, like the IAPAM's Aesthetic Practice Start-Up Workshop, discuss how to market services."
