(HPCL), the value of the Vizag Export-Oriented Refinery cum Petrochemical project is estimated at a value of Rs.160 billion (US$ 3.5 billion). The HPCL will be setting up a brand new export-oriented refinery of 15-million tonne in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh by the year 2011-2012.

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation has contacted the Government of Andhra Pradesh to allot around 2,500 acres of land from the proposed Special Economic Zone; especially for this upcoming refinery. The Corporation will be carrying out the Vizag Export-Oriented Refinery cum Petrochemical Project through a subsidiary. HPCL will also be looking out for new international partners for constructing the refinery. However the equity structure in the new refinery will be same as the one that has been intended for the 9-mt Bhatinda refinery. The final dates for submitting the bids will be on 31st Dec' 2012.

On 21st December 2005, the OPEC Fund for International Development signed a loan agreement of 7 million US$ with the Kingdom of Nepal. Both the concerned parties signed this agreement in order to bring improvement in the living standards of the rural smallholders in Eastern & Central development regions by enhancing the efficiency & output of farmer–managed irrigation systems.

The Community Managed Irrigated Agriculture Sector Project strictly aspires in increasing the agricultural production on 25,000 hectares of the present irrigated land and also by bringing an extra 8,500 ha under irrigation by refining the water distribution system. This project will include cross drainage works, development of the irrigation infrastructure as well as division structures, institutional strengthening, extension services to farmer groups and Water Users Associations and canals & flood protection.

Comprising of various activities, the project will primarily emphasize on improving capacities of Water User Associations.
