Formula Manufacturing Software Proves Effective for Chemical Manufacturers

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/30/2007 -- BatchMaster Software, Inc. has provided process manufacturing software solutions for over two decades with more than one thousand five hundred installations worldwide. BatchMaster's customers can be found in every formula and recipe based industry segment, including food, beverage, cosmetic, personal care, paint, coating, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical. Some of the key benefits of using BatchMaster software include keeping accurate inventory, lot traceability and lot recall, regulatory compliance and just-in-time manufacturing resulting in lower production costs and improved customer service. Flexible, easy to learn and use, and scalable to grow with a process manufacturing business, BatchMaster is the definitive solution for the challenges facing small to midsize process manufacturers. BatchMaster team consists of over a hundred professionals, bringing on-going innovation to product offerings and serving customers as trusted advisors for all process manufacturing and supply-chain challenges.

Specialty chemical companies require ERP functionality with the following key product features:

• Laboratory and Formulation: Conducts laboratory analysis with formula revisions.
• Compliance Reporting: Creates MSDS and other shipping and material storage compliance reports.
• Quality Control: Integrated QC in purchasing, receiving, sales shipping, and in any stage of production.
• Production Scheduling: MPS schedules production in order to maximize capacity while fulfilling shipping promises.
• Materials Planning: MRP manages inventory, reducing holding costs without the risk of shortages.
• Lot Control and Tracking: Tracks lots from vendor to customer; features must include expiration date, vendor lot number, quarantine date, and material attributes.

Laboratory and Formulation: According to Dr. Sahib Dudani, president of ERP provider BatchMaster, "Very few ERP systems provide a laboratory module." A system that does, he says, "reduces man-hours spent on tedious, error-prone manual calculations, and delivers useful information quickly and accurately." In BatchMaster, "raw material specifications and formula physical properties are user-definable, so users can perform calculations in the most familiar methods," Dudani notes.

"Formulas can be easily sized by weight or by volume to lab- or production-sized batches," adds Doug Miller, lab manager for Weyerhaeuser Corp.'s Specialty Products Division, and a user of BatchMaster. "This feature enables chemical manufacturers to keep complete records of all versions of a formula, with who, why, and when it was changed."

William Stoltz, controller and information technology director of Alpha Chemical Services, Inc., also uses BatchMaster. "The solution is versatile in its reporting potential, with a virtually infinite range of customizable reports," he reports. "We have been able to produce information with pinpoint accuracy for our management."

In an exclusive for Managing Automation, manufacturing journalist TR Cutler, profiled the specific needs for Chemical manufacturers. According to Cutler, "Quality control throughout a chemical manufacturing operation must also include purchase receipts and sales shipments and be available at any stage of production. Critical reports for the specialty chemical industry include certificates of analysis (COA), bills of lading, and material safety data sheets." The full feature can be read at: http://www.managingautomation.com/maonline/exclusive/read/The_Unique_Needs_of_Chemical_Manufacturers_16482305

Traditions Foods ROI Analysis Made BatchMaster Manufacturing Software Best Choice

Traditions Foods ROI Analysis Made BatchMaster Manufacturing Software Best Choice

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/24/2007 -- BatchMaster's vice-president, Ingrid Leon noted, "To understand why the Traditions Foods' management team selected BatchMaster ERP requires looking the choices available. The evaluation was very structured and objective; they wanted a system built for food and beverage manufacturing as well as a supplier who understood their industry and was vested in their success. Since this was a long-term investment, they wanted the ERP system selected to be built on leading not bleeding edge technology. Traditions Foods was one of the few management teams who talked about a Return-on-Investment Analysis for the project…clearly world-class thinking."

The combination of BatchMaster Software, for superior operational efficiencies, and Microsoft Dynamics GP for mission-critical financial management and reporting tools, will realistically address the challenges Traditions Foods seem to be facing and eliminate current barriers to their growth by diminishing incurred losses in efficiency and profits, especially as Tradition Foods enters the contract manufacturing arena, where they may need to manage potential customer supplied inventory.

Inventory Control
• BatchMaster customers have reduced out-of-stocks by understanding demand. As a result, customer satisfaction is improved and sales increased, leading to an improved margin per year.
• On the other hand, other customers were over-stocking. In such cases, customers were able to run more lean by reducing inventory levels, allowing for better cash flow.
• Inventory Turns – After implementing BatchMaster ERP, the increase averaged to 7.9 with projections of 11.2 turns per year. On-time delivery averaged to 94.6% versus the 73.9% pre ERP.
• Once a wireless warehouse system is in place, data accuracy, efficiency, and tight inventory control is simplified even further by utilizing hand held devices to scan barcodes upon receipt of goods, for bin transfers, and for shipping. When shipping multi-media data formats are also supported in the case where you may want to include a picture of a palate on the shipping documents to decrease the number of lost packages that Traditions Foods occassionally encounters.

Nutritional Information
BatchMaster is a unique ERP system; as an industry specific solution it includes a very mature lab, recipe, and nutritional analysis toolset that other ERP systems do not supply. Traditions Foods already has a standalone system in place for nutritional management, however, Tradition Foods finds great value having such features available as part of an integrated system.

Regulatory Compliance
The BatchMaster product will support Bio-Terrorism Act, FDA, HACCP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements to the full extent of the regulations in place.

Integrated Environment
In an integrated solution, all major departments (recipe management, production, sales, purchasing, shipping, accounting) are integrated and share a common database. This allows for management reporting and analysis for decision support and determining key performance indicators. There is also one version of the truth.

BatchMaster Software, Inc. has provided process manufacturing software solutions for over two decades with more than one thousand five hundred installations worldwide. BatchMaster's customers can be found in every formula and recipe based industry segment, including food, beverage, cosmetic, personal care, paint, coating, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical.
Victorian Epicure Selects BatchMaster ERP

Victorian Epicure Selects BatchMaster ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/05/2007 -- Victorian Epicure, located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada in an 80,000 sq. ft. facility recently selected ERP leader BatchMaster. Victorian Epicure, marketing under the banner of Epicure Selections, is a food and cookware company specializing in gourmet spice blends, rubs, and jellies. They are a unique organization in their niche since their marketing is done primarily through a direct-to-consumer distribution model via their thousands of field sales consultants, who facilitate in-home sales parties (similar to Tupperware or Mary Kay Cosmetics) and follow a multi-level-marketing (MLM) business expansion.

This past June, Victorian Epicure decided they wanted to proceed with a complete review of BatchMaster. After performing interviews to understand the tasks and critical issues of each major role within their organization, BatchMaster prepared a demonstration that included the company's business processes and how the ERP software would address critical issues of inventory management, forecasting, planning and production scheduling; this was especially important since the company has several raw materials that are shipped from overseas.

Victorian Epicure required a product that could be integrated with their web-based sales system; the company leaders were adamant about not replacing that core existing technology. The decision was made and the company ordered 10-users of the BatchMaster Enterprise solution with MRP/MPS and eConnect for the integration with their sales system.

The bulk of the implementation process starts in January 2007 following a busy holiday season.

BatchMaster assists with compliance regulations applied to the process manufacturing industry, including the Bio Terrorism Act, HACCP, 21 CFR Part 11, and MSDS. Using BatchMaster for new and current product development includes the use of formula management, laboratory, and samples management to bring dependability to the process manufacturing warehouse. To provide flawless process manufacturing benefits, BatchMaster also offers material and capacity planning. If a product is formula- or recipe-based, it is likely BatchMaster Process Manufacturing ERP will improve operating effectiveness and efficiencies.

Body Care Product Manufacturer Accomplishes Lot Traceability with BatchMaster ERP

Body Care Product Manufacturer Accomplishes Lot Traceability with BatchMaster ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/10/2007 -- Judy Lubben, Controller at Raining Rose, led the evaluation effort and is one of the more outspoken of BatchMaster's fans at Raining Rose. "We recently were working with a new private label customer," Judy stated, "and they wanted to be sure that we could handle a recall." Judy goes on to say, "BatchMaster's lot tracking gave us the ability to identify a specific lot number and trace that production lot forward into every one of the sales orders of finished goods and bulk that we shipped containing that lot. Our prospective customer was very impressed, and we were able to cross out 'prospective' right away because we demonstrated we can handle a recall immediately, accurately and confidently." She goes on to state that it is Raining Rose's practice to thoroughly evaluate all new formulations. Besides this, Judy stated, "We use BatchMaster's Quality Control facilities at raw materials receipt and during production. We are convinced of product quality before it makes it out our doors to our private label customers or end consumers, alike."

Raining Rose, Inc., a natural body care product/private label manufacturer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was facing some serious challenges as a consequence of rapid growth. Though many companies would love so much growth so fast, they discovered that there were limits to growth. Raining Rose executives determined what they needed was an Enterprise Resource Planning system. Key staff teamed up to conduct a comprehensive search for an appropriate partner and chose BatchMaster Software, Inc. of Laguna Hills, California. They reasoned that BatchMaster was the leading solution for mid market process manufacturers for more than 20 years with over 1,000 customers worldwide, and that the company continued to grow its solution, evident in the comprehensive feature set of BatchMaster Enterprise. The due diligence of the Raining Rose staff included interviewing current users of BatchMaster, many of whom had moved from disparate, non-integrated solutions (text documents, spreadsheet-based reports and databases) to BatchMaster, in order to eliminate any obstacles towards profitable growth.

What's next for Raining Rose? With much growth still in the future, Raining Rose executives are looking for ways to integrate all areas of the business. Judy anticipates further integration of process-related operations at her company, including the addition of the wireless solution BatchMaster already provides ("BatchMaster Mobile") and other options including BatchMaster's "Demand Forecasting" and "Advanced Production Scheduling." Judy notes, "The BatchMaster team is meeting our expectations in terms of both breadth and depth. We want to plan further into the future, and Statistical Forecasting will allow for that. We want real-time updates of our inventory as we convert items from one form to another – raw materials and intermediates to finished goods. The fewer times we have to key in information, the better. BatchMaster's bar code scanners will make a major contribution to our inventory control procedures in the future."

BatchMaster Software, Inc. has provided advanced ERP solutions for over two decades with more than one thousand five hundred installations worldwide. BatchMaster's customers can be found in every formula or recipe-based business, including food, beverage, cosmetic, personal care, paint, coating, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical industries. Flexible, easy to learn and use, and scalable to grow with a process manufacturing business, BatchMaster is the definitive solution for the challenges facing small to midsize process manufacturers.

Lot Traceability Central Benefit for BatchMaster Process Manufacturing ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/27/2006 -- BatchMaster is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) soft ware product providing process manufacturers the ability to operate their businesses more effectively with less effort and at lower costs. BatchMaster provides complete traceability – process manufacturers can follow an item from incoming raw material through multiple bins to the finished good sent to a specific customer. Lot tracking is used for both purchased items and manufactured items. Customers can choose from several lot issue methods and create custom serial and lot numbers for any item.

FORMULATION AND LAB
BatchMaster provides comprehensive formulation management with version tracking and rollback capabilities. Formulas are scalable and materials can be measured in any defined unit of measure. BatchMaster supports multi-level formulas and easy material substitutions. Production yields can be assigned to any formula. BatchMaster is formula- and not BOM-based, with ingredients added by prescribed proportions measured by either volume or weight.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
BatchMaster defines raw materials, work in process and finished goods in terms of any unit of measure with automatic conversion from one unit to another. Physical and cycle count utilities synchronize perpetual with physical inventories. Inventories can be valued using standard, average, LIFO, FIFO or lot cost. BatchMaster provides the controls and confidence necessary to reduce materials inventories.

PRODUCTION
BatchMaster's SuperBatch™ supports the simultaneous launch of a series of production projects for all components within a batch. Process manufacturers can size a batch based upon a finished weight or volume or the availability of component materials. A batch can be defined as either a finished good or an intermediate. Batches can be defined as Fill (bulk to containers), Mix (raw materials and intermediates to finished goods) and Assembly (combination of finished goods to make up a deliverable product). BatchMaster provides the versatility of "partial close-outs" to assign production output for partial order fills for urgent customer requirements. A "critical materials" facility allows manufacturers to inquire if any material shortages will interfere with production.

COMPLIANCE
BatchMaster eases the complexity of compliance reporting. Material Safety Data Sheets are entirely automated. Linked to formulas, an MSDS is automatically generated when a formula enters production for the first time or for the first time for a given customer. A new MSDS can be designed using Microsoft Word templates. BatchMaster supplies a wide range of MSDS reports, including period and year-end reports.

BatchMaster has more than a hundred technical staff members of highly-qualified software professionals.

Cement Manufacturer Finds Concrete Advantages in BatchMaster ERP

Cement Manufacturer Finds Concrete Advantages in BatchMaster ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/20/2006 -- BatchMaster Software, Inc. has provided advanced ERP solutions for over two decades with more than one thousand five hundred installations worldwide. BatchMaster has more than a hundred technical staff members of highly-qualified software professionals.

BatchMaster Software, Inc. (www.batchmaster.com), announced that Texas Cement Products, Inc. (www.texrite.com), a Houston, Texas-based manufacturer of setting and grouting materials for ceramic tile, selected BatchMaster to support their dramatic growth while improving their operational efficiency.

Privately held, Texas Cement Products, Inc. has been a recognized leader in setting and grouting materials since 1964. The company's steady growth has been driven by market enthusiasm for Texas Cement's high quality products, backed by first-rate customer service. This continuing growth has made clear that in-place systems and procedures had been stretched beyond their limits. The company's leaders understood that they would soon face further increases in complexity due to a proliferation of SKU's with their fast growing private label business. In preparation for more growth, the company's managers determined that they needed to increase capacity utilization, improve process execution, and better control an expected increase in inventories on hand. Further, the company needed to improve work center up-time by implementing procedures to reduce tear down and cleanup efforts between batches. While managing all these new challenges, they wanted to continue to achieve high customer satisfaction with an even faster turnaround on new orders by shifting from mostly build to order to build to stock.

With the objective of accomplishing all these goals, Texas Cement embarked upon a search for an ERP system that could manage the complexities of their organization and provide measurable and immediate benefit to their operations. They narrowed their search to BatchMaster based upon an obvious fit with all their requirements, and the upside of extended functionality available for future growth. "BatchMaster is all-inclusive of our immediate requirements," said Leigh Hightower, Director of Business Development, "and provides us with a clear growth path for the future." Mr. Hightower adds, "The BatchMaster staff we're working with in our implementation are domain experts with experience with companies just like ours. Beyond that, they are reliable and very easy to work with. We are removing limits to growth with our new ERP solution. We like the way things are going already."

BatchMaster Case Study Highlighted in AutomationMedia.com

BatchMaster Case Study Highlighted in AutomationMedia.com

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/19/2006 -- BatchMaster Software, Inc. has provided advanced ERP solutions for over two decades with more than one thousand five hundred installations worldwide. BatchMaster has more than a hundred technical staff members of highly-qualified software professionals.

One of the common mistakes that small companies make is selecting an ERP system that is not focus on their industry. According to Albert Barriga, vice-president of operations, "All the systems Superior Quality Food evaluated were similar in respect that they followed Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Batchmaster (the ERP system selected) was more focused on the food industry. This helps us, for example, whenever we make a batch, because there will always be a partial batch of material left over at the end of the process. We wanted a system that would record those partial batches, so when we made the same product again, the first ingredient it would call for would be the partial batch (and plan the raw material for the rest)."

In the current issue of AutomationMedia.com manufacturing journalist Thomas R. Cutler profiles how Superior Quality Foods selected BatchMaster ERP. The article may be read in its entirety at: http://www.automationmedia.com/TRCutler.asp?ID=%2019.

Superior Quality Foods signed an agreement with BatchMaster in February 2005, and five months later completed the implementation the inventory control module.

Using BatchMaster's Mobile Wireless Inventory System, all inventory transactions are scanned with wireless data collection devices, eliminated manual input errors. "We now bar code our entire inventory. We record all inventory movements in and out with bar bode scanners, updating BatchMaster and providing us with perpetual inventory immediately. We will always undertake a year end inventory count, but the variances are now very small. Our inventory accuracy is now around 98%,"reported Barriga.

As a result of the new ERP system, the Superior Quality Food team now has confidence in their financial numbers, so they are able to estimate their capital needs, and projected profitability for the year. Having accurate inventory has helped the company make better decisions, both strategically and tactically. The company is able to reduce costs as inventory is reduced. The bankers are now very happy with the company's inventory accuracy.

Hair & Skin Manufacturer Streamlines Lean Operations with BatchMaster ERP

Hair & Skin Manufacturer Streamlines Lean Operations with BatchMaster ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/15/2006 -- BatchMaster Software, Inc. has provided advanced ERP solutions for over two decades with more than one thousand five hundred installations worldwide. BatchMaster has more than a hundred technical staff members of highly-qualified software professionals.

Cosmaceutical Research Lab, already the largest contract manufacturer for cosmetic products in western Canada, has a prodigious appetite for growth – growth in the volume of its cosmetic manufacturing operations, and growth into the next stage for the company, pharmaceutical manufacturing in a new plant now under construction. The company has achieved accreditation as a practitioner of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and has earned an establishment and site license with Health Canada. Most of Cosmaceutical's Third Party Manufacturing is in Hair Care, Skin Care, and OTC. The number of unique SKUs has grown to be substantial, and management of varying volumes within so many product groups has become almost a daunting challenge in keeping up with the company's growth. As of 2005, the company's founders had come to the determination that they had crossed the threshold where their tools were managing (constraining) them, rather than helping them manage their business. Cosmaceutical embarked upon an exhaustive search for an integrated environment for all their operations, a modern, extensible Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") system.

That search eventually brought Cosmaceutical into contact with BatchMaster Software. Cosmaceutical co-founder David Gill prefers to sign his letters as "Chemist" rather than "President," emphasizing the technical foundations of his company's success. Mr. Gill observes that BatchMaster Soft ware "was willing to work with us to accommodate our business flow with a specifically tailored ERP solution." He goes on to say "BatchMaster Soft ware approached our challenges with a commitment to 'no surprises.' They assigned very capable and committed technical and business staff to our implementation. After they had delivered initial training, it became clear to us that each of the several modules within BatchMaster Enterprise was really easy to learn and use. We had been concerned at first with how comprehensive and overwhelming a feature set we saw in BatchMaster – so much to learn. But, now, the way we've configured this system and the way they are conducting training, it's clear that each individual specialist will have an easy time managing her or his own part of the overall operation. It definitely has a 'wow' factor – instead of using seven different soft ware applications to accomplish a single task, our whole solution is now bundled into one application. We are definitely pleased with our purchase."

Preston Blevins (CFPIM, CIRM), with BatchMaster Software, adds "Cosmaceutical Research Labs adheres strictly to cGMP, and BatchMaster Enterprise will help move the company from 'Good' to 'Great,' even though there is no such category currently recognized in the industry. As a contract manufacturer, this company must be very responsive to customer requirements and lab staff must be equipped to devise unique formulations quickly and accurately and in such a way that the company can produce consistent high quality output at the lowest possible price. ERP was clearly required for the company to take that next step. Cosmaceutical Research Labs considers BatchMaster Software a 'strategic partner' in ushering in a new era of profitable growth."

Cheesecake Manufacturer Finds Sweet Solution with BatchMaster ERP

Cheesecake Manufacturer Finds Sweet Solution with BatchMaster ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/14/2006 -- Nearly $3 Million in annual revenue is a lot of cheesecakes. Desserts of Distinction of Portland, Oregon, now 28 years in business, "bakes" to order from any of its 19 fillings and 7 crusts in a choice of portion sizes which are shipped in a range of packaging choices to a considerable number of customers, both large and small. The company makes mostly short production runs, between 100 and 150 batches per day. As you would expect, the owners are both master bakers and resourceful business people. They raced through the $2 Million revenue mark with no more in business management tools than Excel spreadsheets for recipes, tracking sales and inventory, and an Access database for managing batches. Now they rely entirely upon BatchMaster Enterprise and are set up to do Lot Tracking at virtually any level of granularity.

Greg Calhoun, second generation owner/operator with his wife, Cathy, explained, "We had reached a point where our tools for managing our business were managing us. It had become too difficult to execute and grow our business without proper tools." Greg went on to observe that, "For those formulations managed with BatchMaster Enterprise, we've captured every detail and significantly improved our accuracy and inventory management."

BatchMaster Enterprise Offers Superior Formulation and Distribution Facilities Greg and Cathy have already defined 100 recipes and made each of these resident in BatchMaster Enterprise, representing 30% of their business's SKUs and 80% of the company's volume. Several of Desserts of Distinctions' 30 plus employees use BatchMaster Enterprise for Sales Order, Purchase Order, Inventory and Batch Management routinely throughout each work day. Where before, either Greg or Cathy had to do all the planning, now several others can lend a hand with more accuracy and less effort in less time. "Small businesses get an opportunity to get big only if they can be nimble," notes Greg. "Our needs exceeded what our office-type software tools could do for us. With BatchMaster Enterprise, we established a whole new paradigm. Now we have the planning and management capacity to grow to a $50 Million company in a very few years, which is part of our business plan. There's no turning back.

The company has better lead times to prepare for new production runs. Next, they can use the Lab and Formulations modules to experiment with new formulas and to extend their product line with new tastes and consistencies. And now that they've implemented the Master Production Scheduling ("MPS") and MRP modules, they're able to schedule production in advance and place orders for materials weeks to months ahead of time without fear of loss to spoilage or increased costs for holding.

According to Greg, "We raced to $2 Million in annual sales (translates to 2,000 to 4,000 cheesecakes per week) and were filling more and more cells in innumerable spreadsheets. It was a challenge to stay organized. We had started to see our 'Limits to Growth.' The only way for us to advance beyond being a 'small business' was to implement advanced methodologies and tools." "BatchMaster Enterprise has all the features we need. And the BatchMaster support team is without peer. They got us up and running fast, and got our people excited about these new features. We can never go back to our old methods. And we can all 'thank goodness' for that!"

Food ERP Leader ERP Profiled in IFSQN

Food ERP Leader ERP Profiled in IFSQN

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/05/2006 -- Superior Quality Foods has been a leading quality supplier of meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetable bases, as well as savory flavors, sauces and gravy bases and seasonings, for well over twenty years. Located in Ontario, California, the company serves retail, food service, and industrial markets. Its Better than Bouillon and Crockery Gourmet brands are found in many supermarkets. The company also supplies restaurants and its bases used as ingredients by many industrial food processors.

To ensure there were enough raw materials for production, Superior Quality Foods operated "Just in Case", rather than Just-in-Time. Although the company was growing, poor inventory control was impacting profitability. Albert Barriga, vice-president of operations, explained the problem: "We just didn't have any confidence in our inventory control systems. We would always double check regardless of what the system said."

In the current issue of IFSQN (International Food Safety Quality Network) manufacturing journalist Thomas R. Cutler profiles how Superior Quality Foods selected BatchMaster ERP.

The article may be read in its entirety at: http://www.ifsqn.com/articles_detail.php?newsdesk_id=279&osCsid=18e1ef7609d339c70d487dacdcb9549c

Food Quality and Compliance:

Superior Quality Foods' facility is USDA approved which places an extra burden on the company. According to Barriga, "Because we process meat, beef, turkey, ham, and chicken, we must have a USDA inspector on site and we have to follow very stringent rules. These rules apply not only to the manufacturing process, but also to accounting procedures. The USDA inspector has the ability to shut down the facility if something is wrong. We must have good processes and procedures in place, so that our employees don't make mistakes. BatchMaster supports our certification by ensuring we maintain accurate records, and provides full product traceability in support of the Bioterrorism Act."

Madison Chemical Chooses BatchMaster ERP

Madison Chemical Chooses BatchMaster ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/04/2006 -- Integration, Visibility, and Responsiveness. These terms, linked together, are a mantra for Madison Chemical Industries Inc., a leader in infra-structure coatings for some of the industry's most demanding applications. Madison is now seeking to knit these capabilities more tightly together than ever before by implementing an advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system designed by BatchMaster Software Inc. The deployment of this end-to-end ERP solution, including BatchMaster Enterprise for Manufacturing and Distribution and Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains for Financials, combined with its ISO certified processes and personnel, will enable the company to be even more effective in managing relationships with its vendors, upgrading its internal operations and delivering even more innovative solutions, sooner, to its many and varied customers.

For over thirty years, Madison's specialized coatings have played a key role in many large and complex capital projects. Many of these projects involve significant investment and advanced planning. On-time delivery of product to specification is mandated. The technical challenges, along with customer expectations have evolved rapidly over these past three decades, as have mounting environmental regulations. Madison will soon be able to rely upon BatchMaster Enterprise as the "engine" for developing and managing new formulations and for bringing these new offerings into reliable, repeatable and cost-effective production.

Madison's commitment to implementing such an advanced ERP system reinforces its industry leadership in innovation, quality, business process reliability and customer service. Richard Northcote (CPIM, MBA), Madison's Controller & Operations Manager states "We have a record of steady improvement in organizational effectiveness and continue to strive for excellence in all our operations. This BatchMaster implementation will continue that tradition." Adds BatchMaster Soft ware's Engagement Manager Preston Blevins (CFPIM, CIRM), "Madison Chemical Industries Inc. is a visionary organization committed to "best practices" in virtually all its operations. We are pleased at the confidence they have placed in our BatchMaster product and in our support team to select us as their partner in productivity. BatchMaster's advanced functionality and solid foundation of MS SQL database structure and N-tier architecture is extensible to support Madison's projected growth in both the immediate and long-term future."

Cosmaceutical Research Labs Finds ERP Solutions with BatchMaster

Cosmaceutical Research Labs Finds ERP Solutions with BatchMaster

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/01/2006 -- Cosmaceutical Research Lab, already the largest contract manufacturer for cosmetic products in western Canada, has a prodigious appetite for growth – growth in the volume of its cosmetic manufacturing operations, and growth into the next stage for the company, pharmaceutical manufacturing in a new plant now under construction.

Weyerhaeuser Uses BatchMaster ERP in 11 Plants

Weyerhaeuser Uses BatchMaster ERP in 11 Plants

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/29/2006 -- Weyerhaeuser Corporation is a Fortune 500 company, with 2005 revenues exceeding $20 Billion. Within this very large organization is a water-based flexographic ink business with operations in 11 locations throughout North America, with nearly 100 employees who use BatchMaster Enterprise on any given day. Weyerhaeuser's business objective is to fulfill all their customer requirements on schedule and at agreed prices, at a profit. With major fluctuations in customer order patterns, these operations have had to maintain sizable safety stocks or had to be prepared to pay premium prices for delivery of short items if they were to meet customer requirements. As the scale of business grew, so did the severity of this problem.

In 1998, Weyerhaeuser staff realized that the manufacturing system then in place, a semi-custom mainframe-based inventory, sales and purchase order management system, was no longer adequate to support their business. They then developed a list of criteria for their new system, which included immediate access to inventories from all ink manufacturing sites within the company (then 6). Further, they specified that inventories should be updated as batches were closed at the various plants, by personnel on the floor rather than later by a separate administrative support group. This would reduce time to update inventories and eliminate confusion and errors in entry. Of course, the product had to be easy to learn and use.

Ink Lab Selects BatchMaster Doug Miller, Lab Manager, first implemented the DOS version of "BatchMaster" 8 years ago, in 1998. BatchMaster DOS met the above stated criteria for real-time inventory control from multiple locations. Beyond that, Doug was excited about BatchMaster's superior Lab and Formulation, offering Doug and his team substantial improvements in both control and flexibility in formulations over the features of the legacy system and spreadsheets they'd been using to maintain thousands of formulations. Weyerhaeuser pressed ahead with increased reliance upon BatchMaster DOS until 2002, when they moved up to BatchMaster Enterprise. Irene Jordan, the IT Manager supporting these operations, led a small team of inside consultants to work with BatchMaster Software consultants to accomplish this transition. Irene managed the modification or elimination of in-place procedural flows that had their roots in overcoming limitations of previous process automation software so that Weyerhaeuser could take full advantage of BatchMaster Enterprise's broad range of facilities. Without the limitations imposed by an outdated manufacturing application, these procedures were no longer required.

Weyerhaeuser Purchasing Supports On-Demand Production

Real-time access to updated inventory gives Purchasing staff the ability to avoid critical shortages and reduce the amount of periodic adjustments in inventory for discrepancies between virtual and physical counts. Beyond these improvements, Purchasing staff can now consolidate orders for a more economic order quantity, manage inventory with greater confidence of not compromising production and service capability, and save money, too.

Multi-Level Formula and Material Substitutions Distinguish Process Manufacturing ERP Leader BatchMaster

Multi-Level Formula and Material Substitutions Distinguish Process Manufacturing ERP Leader BatchMaster

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/27/2006 -- BatchMaster is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) soft ware product providing process manufacturers the ability to operate their businesses more effectively with less effort and at lower costs.

SERIAL/LOT TRACKING
BatchMaster provides complete traceability – process manufacturers can follow an item from incoming raw material through multiple bins to the finished good sent to a specific customer. Lot tracking is used for both purchased items and manufactured items. Customers can choose from several lot issue methods and create custom serial and lot numbers for any item.

Manufacturing Journalist TR Cutler Profiled Food ERP Leader BatchMaster

Manufacturing Journalist TR Cutler Profiled Food ERP Leader BatchMaster

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/21/2006 -- In the current issue of AutomationMedia.com manufacturing journalist Thomas R. Cutler profiles how Superior Quality Foods selected BatchMaster ERP. The article may be read in its entirety at: http://www.automationmedia.com/TRCutler.asp?ID=%2019.

Texas Cement Choose BatchMaster for Process Manufacturing ERP

Texas Cement Choose BatchMaster for Process Manufacturing ERP

Laguna Hills, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/20/2006 -- BatchMaster Software, Inc. (www.batchmaster.com), a leading provider of ERP (enterprise resource planning) solutions to mid-market process manufacturing companies, announced that Texas Cement Products, Inc.
