Great Potential for B2C E-Commerce Markets in the Middle East

The new "Middle East Internet & B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com provides a clear and comprehensive analysis of the development of the online markets in the Middle East. In addition to regional data, the report presents key figures related to Internet use and B2C E-Commerce in 12 different nations – including Saudi Arabia, Israel and the UAE. Additionally, information is given on more than 20 top competitors including their company profiles.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/19/2012 -- In 2011, the highest number of Internet users in the Middle East was recorded in Saudi Arabia, whereas Internet penetration was the highest in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Online shopping boomed especially as a result of group buying websites, with the most popular product categories being air tickets, and household appliances and consumer electronics in the period between December 2011 and February 2012. Lack of confidence in available payment methods was one of the reasons why almost half of all Internet users refrained from online purchases in 2011. Nonetheless, Souq.com, one of the leading online shops headquartered in the UAE, recorded as many as two million unique visitors worldwide in April 2012. Shopping portal Cobone.com performed transactions of almost 500,000 EUR per month in its electronics portal up to February 2012.

Strong growth of online segment in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the UAE
Overall, the number of Internet users in the nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC: including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE) increased between 2000 and 2010 annually by more than 30 percent. According to forecasts, B2C E-Commerce revenue is expected to rise by more than one third between 2010 and 2015. In Saudi Arabia, Internet penetration and confidence and - as a result - B2C E-Commerce were predicted to grow strongly in 2012. The most popular shopping website there was Amazon.com, followed by Souq.com. In 2011, the share of male Internet users in Israel was slightly higher than that of female users; the most popular activity among this group was reading news, while less than 10 percent shopped online. In the UAE, the number of Internet users strongly increased in early 2012 due to improved connections and more and more purchases were made on regional websites paid with credit cards.

Online upswing in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan
Between 2010 and 2011, B2C E-Commerce revenue increased by almost fifty per cent in Bahrain and by almost two thirds in Kuwait. In 2011/12, B2C E-Commerce boomed in Jordan too due to improved broadband access. In Qatar, air tickets, followed by apps were especially popular in mobile commerce by the end of 2011, and in August 2011, more than one quarter of all Internet users in Lebanon spent on average more than six hours daily surfing the Internet. However, according to the "Middle East Internet & B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by yStats.com B2C E-Commerce in Oman was curbed as a result of slow Internet connections; in early 2012, Internet was still slow and expensive in Yemen too due to a state monopoly. More than one quarter of all Iraqis searched information on the Internet in May 2011, while in August 2011, one third of all Internet users in Syria spent on average one to two hours per day online. Internet penetration rates and online retail vary across the nations of the Middle East, with fast and improved Internet connections promoting the spread of online retail throughout the region.

South Africa and Nigeria With Highest Online Shopping Potential in Africa

The new "Africa Internet & B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com takes a close look at Internet use and B2C E-Commerce development on the African continent. In addition to presenting data on Internet and B2C E-Commerce for the entire continent, facts and figures about 15 individual countries of the African continent are compiled.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/14/2012 -- With more than 40 million users, Nigeria was the African nation with the highest number of Internet users in December 2011, followed by Egypt and Morocco. Meanwhile, Internet penetration was the highest in Morocco with almost 50%. South Africa on the other hand, was the country with the most successful B2C E-Commerce platforms. In 2011, various factors still curbed online retail on the entire continent, such as the low Internet penetration and the focus on cash transactions and personal relationships. Recently, however, mobile payment methods have become increasingly popular, promoting B2C E-Commerce growth in 2012.

Growing B2C E-Commerce revenue in the most important African markets
In South Africa, the share of online shoppers on the total number of Internet users has continued to grow slowly between 2009 and 2011. In 2011, a clear majority cited lower prices as a decisive factor for making purchases online. Kenya was the fastest growing Internet market in Africa in 2011, due to low mobile phone charges and increasing broadband capacity. The number of Internet users and their share on the entire population continuously grew between 2010 and 2011 by a low double digit percentage figure. At the same time, the number of Internet connections and B2C E-Commerce revenue in Morocco grew between 2010 and 2011 by almost three quarters. Due to improved Internet access and a growing number of online shops, the number of credit cards also increased in 2011. Furthermore, according to forecasts at least one third of the population in Nigeria is expected to have direct Internet access by 2013. Although large online retailers such as Amazon, eBay and South African online shop Kalahari sell their products there, there are still limitations when it comes to shipping and payment options.

Great potential in other African markets
In February 2012, almost one quarter of all Internet users in Egypt shopped online or used the Internet to pay their bills. Meanwhile, Algeria with its lower Internet user rate saw only little online retail in early 2012, because cash transactions were still predominant there, while other payment options were hardly available. The increasing number of Internet users in Uganda is expected to spur the use of services such as online shopping and online banking in 2012. In Ghana, B2C E-Commerce was curbed by the low Internet penetration rate and a lack of suitable shipping and payment options. According to the "Africa Internet & B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by yStats.com, in 2011, especially in Libya people were afraid of B2C E-Commerce related scams. Meanwhile, more than half of all Internet users in Namibia accessed the Internet via mobile phone, much like in Tanzania. Conclusively, it can be stated Africa is making slow but steady progress in terms of Internet usage and B2C E-Commerce.

Retail, Direct Selling and B2C E-Commerce Continue to Show Positive Development in South Africa

In its latest "South Africa Retail, Direct Selling and B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com provides an in-depth analysis of B2C commerce in Africa. In addition to general demographic and economic facts and figures, each of the categories retail, direct selling and B2C E-Commerce are outlined in detail.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/14/2012 -- South Africa's demographics are unusual, which has an impact on commerce too. In 2011, almost one quarter of all inhabitants were unemployed, which is far more than the worldwide average of nearly one tenth. Secondly, 60 percent of the population of 50 million were younger than 30 in South Africa.

South African retail continues to grow
For retail, the "South Africa Retail, Direct Selling and B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by yStats.com presents segments, key market figures and the six largest players based on global revenue. The report shows that retail market revenue is expected to grow by double digit percentage rates at least until 2015, which can be attributed, amongst others, to growing income and the increasing number of foreign visitors to the country. The consumer electronics market, which is the largest on the entire continent, is forecasted to generate revenues of more than 10 billion USD for 2015, almost 10% of total retail sales. The supermarkets Shoprite, Massmart and Pick n Pay were the largest retailers in South Africa in terms of global revenue.

Household goods very popular in direct selling in South Africa
Furthermore, the "South Africa Retail, Direct Selling and B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by yStats.com analyzes direct selling. It is shown that revenue was expected to increase by 10 percent in 2011. "Household Goods" were the top selling product category in 2010, closely followed by "Financial Products".

B2C E-Commerce continues its success in South Africa
Finally, a closer look is taken at the B2C E-Commerce market. In December 2011, South Africa was the fifth largest nation in Africa in terms of Internet users, with Nigeria being at the top of the list. B2C E-Commerce is expected to become even more popular in 2012, as a result of increased smartphone use and Internet penetration. Between 2010 and 2011, revenue generated in this sector increased by nearly one third and the share of online shoppers compared to all Internet users also grew by a number of percentage points. Kalahari was the most popular online shop, ahead of Amazon and Bid-or-Buy. Groupon had the largest market share among all group buying websites in 2011, followed by Wicount.

Online Gaming Market Continues to Grow in the Asia-Pacific Region

The new "Asia-Pacific Online Gaming Report 2012" by Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com compiles up-to-date information on the online gaming market in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding online gambling aspects. This includes a brief introduction about the region as well as an analysis of the markets China, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/14/2012 -- The online gaming market is rapidly growing in the entire region of South East Asia. Revenue generated in this market is expected to more than double between 2011 and 2015. Especially social gaming has become a significant trend, drawing more and more new users and generating more revenue.

Massively client games spur growth of Chinese online gaming market
The value of the online gaming market in China is predicted to grow annually by double digit percentage figures between 2012 and 2015.

Furthermore, spending by online gamers is projected to increase between 2012 and 2013 – despite slowing growth rates. In the fourth quarter of 2011, Tencent had the largest market share in the Chinese client-based online gaming market, followed by Netease and SNDA. This growth can be attributed primarily to massively client games. They are expected to generate almost three quarters of all revenue in this market in 2013.

Online gaming markets soaring in Japan, South Korea and Australia
In 2011, the largest share of the total online gaming market value in Japan was generated by mobile gaming, followed by social gaming.

Conventional online gaming was, however, at the bottom of the list. While in 2010 more than 40 percent of all social gamers were women, men still dominated the total online gaming market, accounting for nearly three quarters of all gamers. Especially the social gaming market is expected to grow rapidly in Japan – between 2011 and 2012 by approximately one third. In South Korea, the online gaming market is also expected to grow annually by more than 20 percent between 2008 and 2012. In 2010, South Korea generated more than one quarter of all global revenue in this sector. The "Asia-Pacific Online Gaming Report 2012" by yStats.com also shows that online gaming addiction is a huge problem in this country, where in 2011, more than half of all inhabitants played online games. For Australia, it is forecasted that online gaming subscriptions and digital goods will account for one fifth of all sales of digital goods and online subscriptions in 2012.

B2C E-Commerce Market Is Trending Upward in South Africa

The latest "South Africa B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" published by Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com provides an in-depth analysis of B2C E-Commerce in South Africa. Aside from trends, revenue figures and market shares, the report covers the most successful product categories, online shopper figures and the competitors.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/14/2012 -- In December 2011, South Africa was the fifth largest nation in Africa in terms of Internet users, with Nigeria at the top of the list. In line with this trend, the use of social media has become a significant activity among Internet users in 2011, with the MXit website recording the highest number of registered users.

Air tickets a major factor in South African B2C E-Commerce
According to the "South Africa B2C E-Commerce Report 2012" by yStats.com, B2C E-Commerce is expected to become even more popular in South Africa in 2012, spurred by the increased use of smartphones and the consequent higher Internet penetration. B2C E-Commerce revenue increased from 2010 to 2011 by almost one third, with more and more Internet users making purchases online. One of the most successful categories was "Air Tickets", generating more than two thirds of all online revenue in 2011. In the same year, more than ten percent of all mobile Internet users in South Africa shopped online using their mobile phones. This trend can be attributed mainly to the growing acceptance of mobile payment options.

Groupon also highly successful in South Africa
As shown in the yStats.com "South Africa B2C E-Commerce Report 2012", more than 70 percent of all Internet users in South Africa researched product information online in the period between October 2010 and October 2011 – this was particularly true for men. Concerns about the safety of online shopping have also continued to decrease among Internet users between 2009 and 2011. In 2011, Kalahari was the most popular online shop in South Africa, followed by Amazon and Bid-or-Buy. Groupon had the largest market share among all group buying websites in South Africa in 2011, followed by Wicount.

European Online Gaming Market Shows Positive Development

In its latest "Europe Online Gaming Report 2012" Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com analyzes the European online gaming market in detail and excludes online gambling altogether. Following a brief introduction about the region, the report covers important markets in Western Europe (Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) and Eastern Europe (Poland, Russia and Turkey).

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/14/2012 -- Social games, traditional online games and casual websites are becoming increasingly popular worldwide. This is also true for the European market. Important markets in this sector are Great Britain and Germany as well as Russia. Still, revenue and user figures also grew considerably in smaller markets.

Social games are especially popular in the most important European markets.

In Great Britain, more than 90 percent of all social gamers played games on a desktop PC or laptop in September 2011, while less than one third used smartphones. In September 2011, the most popular social online game in Great Britain was FarmVille, followed by Bejeweled Blitz and Mafia Wars. Almost one fifth of all time invested into playing games in Great Britain in 2011 was spent on social networks, followed by casual games; more time was only invested into console games. In Germany, spending on online/browser games increased in 2011 compared to 2010, accounting for more than 20 percent of all revenue generated from gaming. Unlike in Japan and the USA, in Germany the entire gaming market grew in 2012, only as a result of increased revenue from online and browser games. The size of the German online and mobile gaming market is expected to continue to grow and almost double between 2010 and 2015. The "Europe Online Gaming Report 2012" by yStats.com also shows that in 2011, French gamers spent a double digit percentage figure of their entire gaming time in social networks. Furthermore, it is estimated that almost three quarters of all Spanish gamers used social networks for gaming activities. In Russia, the volume of the online gaming market is expected to increase by 20 to 30 percent in 2012 compared to 2011. Almost 80 percent of the total online gaming market value is generated with browser games.

Casual websites also on the upswing in other European markets

According to forecasts, in Belgium casual websites were the most popular gaming platforms in 2011. The "Europe Online Gaming Report 2012" by yStats.com also shows that the value of the Polish gaming market has increased by a double-digit percentage in 2011 compared to 2010. Finally, Turkey was the fourth largest social gaming market worldwide in the second quarter of 2011.

Global Online Gaming Market on the Upswing

In its latest "Global Online Gaming Report 2012" Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com gives a detailed account of the global online gaming market, without accounting for global online gambling. In addition to the global market, markets in 19 individual countries in various regions are highlighted. The report also covers information and the latest news about 24 important competitors.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/14/2012 -- Revenue generated in the online gaming market continues to increase worldwide – it is predicted to grow annually by more than ten per cent in the period from 2010 to 2016. A significant trend in this sector is Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs). In 2011, MMOGs were especially popular in the BRIC states and the US market was also mature, while there is still potential for growth in emerging markets. In 2011, the share of paying casual and social gamers compared to all gamers worldwide was the highest in Asia, followed by emerging markets and the USA.

Social and casual games popular in all of America
In the USA, social gaming was expected to spread further in 2011 – in total, as many as approximately 40 percent of all Internet users played such online games. The most popular gaming website in this market, gauged by visits in December 2011, was Pogo, followed by Yahoo! Games. According to the "Global Online Gaming Report 2012", for Brazil forecasts for 2011 predicted that gamers would spend most of their time on casual games and playing in social networks.

Social gaming as an important trend in Western Europe
Great Britain and Germany are among the leading European markets for online gaming. In 2011, almost one fifth of total time invested in playing games in Great Britain was spent on social networks, followed by casual games; only console games had more time invested in them. Unlike in Japan and the USA, in Germany the entire gaming market grew in 2012, merely as a result of increased revenue from online and browser games. The German online and mobile game market is also expected to almost double in size between 2010 and 2015. The "Global Online Gaming Report 2012" by yStats.com shows additionally that in 2011, French gamers spent approximately 15 percent of their entire gaming time on social networks. In the Netherlands, revenue generated from games on casual websites and MMO games was forecasted to reach more than 50 million EURO in 2011 in each category. In line with this trend, almost three quarters of all Spanish online gamers were predicted to use social networks for gaming in 2011.

Online gaming markets also soar in Eastern Europe
In Poland, the value of the total gaming market increased by more than 20 percent from 2010 to 2011. In Russia, almost 80 percent of the entire online gaming market value was generated from browser games. Turkey was the fourth largest social gaming market worldwide in the second quarter of 2011 in terms of gamer numbers.

Rapid growth for revenue in the Asia-Pacific region, in the Middle East and in Africa
In Southeast Asia, revenue from online games is expected to more than double between 2011 and 2015. The social games market is also expected to grow fast in Japan – by approximately one third between 2011 and 2012. It is also shown that online gaming addiction is increasingly becoming a problem, for example in South Korea, where in 2011 more than half of all inhabitants already played online games. In China, the situation is slightly different, with massively client games spurring most of the online games market growth – for 2013, they are expected to generate more than three quarters of all revenue in this market. Early in 2012, the highest daily revenue per gamer worldwide was recorded in the Middle East. An annual increase of 25 percent in spending for online games is also expected in South Africa for the period between 2010 and 2015.

Online games market players observe strong growth worldwide
In addition to the key markets in different regions, the yStats.com "Global Online Gaming Report 2012" also provides important facts and figures about more than 20 successful players. Zynga, for example, is expecting an increase in revenue by more than 20 percent in 2012. Bigpoint, an enterprise based in Germany, had as many as 250 million registered users early in 2012 and has already added new locations in Great Britain and France. Wooga, also headquartered in Germany, was the largest social games developer in Europe in April 2012, and the third largest worldwide. Chinese online game developer Changyou also increased its revenue in 2011 by almost 40 percent compared to 2010. Developer of cross-platform games PopCap Games was bought by Electronic Arts in 2011, and is now a subsidiary of the games giant. US social games developer RockYou was also successful in 2011, entering partnerships with Peak Games and Aktiv Digital. Turkish games developer Peak Games was the fastest growing social gaming enterprise in an emerging market in 2011.

Global Online Travel Market Continues to Grow

In its latest "Global Online Travel Report 2012" Hamburg-based secondary market research firm yStats.com gives a detailed overview of the international online travel market. In addition to information about the global market, the report covers individual regions and 36 countries in America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and southern Africa. Last but not least, it lists online travel news about important players in the market.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/21/2012 -- The trend to book travel arrangements online will continue in 2012 - especially in emerging economies such as China, India and Brazil. In line with this trend the share of the online segment compared to the total travel market is expected to increase to almost one third worldwide. However, in 2011 the value of the US online travel market was still higher than that of Great Britain, China, India and Brazil combined.

Online travel arrangements continue to gain in popularity across the entire American continent

Compared to 2011, revenue generated in the US online travel market is forecasted to grow in 2012 by a low double digit percentage figure. Clients who bought travel products online in 2011 made most purchases through online travel agents amounting to almost 50%, followed by search engines and websites of tour operators. In the category mobile bookings, hotels were booked most frequently, followed by flights and travel packages. The "Global Online Travel Report 2012" by yStats.com also provides interesting facts about trends outside the USA. In Canada, in early March 2012 Expedia was the leading travel website: it generated twice as much traffic as the second placed website Flight Network. In Argentina particularly younger people tend to book travel arrangements online; however, internet use in this area is growing across all age groups.

Online travel sector is especially successful in Europe

In Europe the total number of bookings through online travel agencies increased by almost 20 % from 2010 to 2011. In Great Britain, more than half of all consumers avoid traditional travel agents altogether and book their holidays online instead. In Germany, in 2011 customers preferred travel agents for more expensive travel arrangements and online booking for cheaper tours. In this sector online revenue has grown considerably, while offline revenue has decreased. In France revenue generated with online travel bookings grew between January and September 2011 more than the total B2C E-Commerce revenue. Additionally, in 2011, B2C E-Commerce revenue in the category "Travel and Holiday Accommodation" was higher than in the next four categories combined. According to the "Global Online Travel Report 2012" by yStats.com almost half of all Italian online customers booked their accommodation online in 2011, making this the strongest category within Italian B2C E-Commerce. In Russia almost 50% of all passengers had purchased their flight on a travel website, while nearly one quarter had booked tickets via phone.

Growth potential in large parts of the Asia-Pacific region

Although growth in the category online hotel bookings is expected to slow down in the Asia-Pacific region between 2010 and 2012, it still exhibits double digit figures. In Japan the share of online travel bookings - in line with the soaring trend - surpassed for the first time 50% in 2010. Unique visitor numbers for travel websites were evenly distributed across all age groups in Japan, while the group of individuals older than 55 was slightly in the lead in the first quarter of 2011. In China in 2011, only 14% of all internet users had ever visited a travel website, but online travel bookings are expected to become more popular there too. The Indian online travel market is also estimated to grow by almost 30% in 2012. The data for Australia is outstanding: as shown in the report by market research specialist yStats.com, the category "Travel, Accommodation, Memberships or Tickets of any Kind" was the most popular online product category in June 2011.

Online travel market in the Middle East is catching up

Spurred by the introduction of online payment options, the online travel market in the Middle East is expected to grow considerably compared to 2011. The yStats.com report predicts growth for the share of online travel bookings in relation to total revenue generated with travel tickets until 2015, compared to 2010 figures.

Tour operators shift focus to E-Commerce

Aside from regional online travel markets, the yStats.com "Global Online Travel Report 2012" also features news about important players in this market to provide a comprehensive picture of this sector. TUI Travel's strategy, for example, to focus on online sales in Great Britain paid off, considering that in January 2012 far more online bookings were recorded than in January 2011. In September 2011, Google introduced a flight search service in the USA, but it was faced with certain restrictions. Meanwhile, Priceline may be able to replace Expedia as the number one online travel specialist worldwide – in terms of international revenue this milestone has already been achieved in 2011. In 2011 and 2012, Orbitz Worldwide signed multi-year agreements with AOL Travel and United Continental Holdings. In February 2012, MakeMyTrip, one of the top online travel firms in India, successfully secured more than 50% of the Indian online travel market. The yStats.com report also provides company news from Emirates, Thomas Cook, Travelocity, Kayak, Odigeo, BookinTurkey, Ctrip, Yatra and Webjet.
Amazon is very popular with Canadians
Growth rates of E-Commerce spending are predicted to grow significantly between 2011 and 2015. The percentage of B2C online revenue compared to all retail revenue is expected to reach approximately 10 % by 2015.
Positive Trend in global Underwear Market

The latest "Global Underwear Market Report 2012" by Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com documents recent developments in the international retail underwear market. Aside from market related facts including such indicators as market volume, revenue figures and growth rates, the report provides an in-depth analysis of leading competitors.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/05/2012 -- The yStats.com report focuses on international retail trends in the underwear sector. Based on secondary market research, it highlights individual transnational regions and 18 selected countries in detail. Aside from the general category of underwear, bodywear and individual sub-categories such as lingerie, shapewear and hosiery are analyzed. More than 40 of the most important market players are profiled in depth – mainly manufacturers who also participate in the retail business. The report covers business models, market position, product range, revenue figures and the latest company news.

Shapewear as a new international trend
In 2010, more than one quarter of all global underwear sales were made in the EU-27 - followed by the USA, Russia and China. An important global trend in the undergarment market highlighted in yStats.com's "Global Underwear Market Report 2012" was shapewear. Its popularity soared worldwide in all important markets.

Specialist retailers for underwear leading in the USA
In the USA, the market for ladies' underwear grew by one third from 2004 to 2010, while it only increased by 10 % for male underwear in the same period. In 2010, almost 80 % of all lingerie purchases by women were for daytime lingerie and corsetry. Most products were sold by specialized chains.

Growing revenue in European underwear market
In 2010, the highest spending on lingerie in Europe was reported in France, followed by Germany and Great Britain. The total revenue generated in Europe in 2010 was estimated at 15 billion EUR. According to the "Global Underwear Market Report 2012" by yStats.com, revenue generated in the British underwear market in 2010 increased only marginally by 1 %. More than two thirds of all British online lingerie retailers reported an increase in revenue from 2010 to 2011 - achieving a stronger growth than small retailers and chains combined. In Germany, the majority of market revenue was generated from single bra sales, while panty and bra combinations accounted only for a very small share. In France more than 20 % of all clothing purchases made by women in 2010 were for bodywear.

Encouraging outlook for lingerie markets in Asia and the Middle East
In 2010, Asia was the second largest regional market for lingerie spending following the EU-27. In Japan, the market value for ladies' underwear, nightwear and swimwear totaled 5 billion EUR in 2010, while it decreased compared to 2009. In 2011, breast reduction bras and fat-burning underwear were the major trends there. In the Middle East, the underwear market showed an upward trend due to high purchasing power, growing market volume and the fashion consciousness of Muslim women.

Many international competitors plan to expand
The "Global Underwear Market Report 2012" by yStats.com gives a detailed account of important retail chains, department stores and home shopping as well as online shopping players in the European underwear market. Other information in the report includes underwear related news about department stores and fashion retailers such as Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Karstadt and Esprit.

The underwear market is dominated by manufacturers who also sell their products to consumers. HanesBrands generated almost 4 billion EUR in net revenue in 2011, far more than Wacoal or Etam. Victoria's Secret opened its first European outlet and plans to open more stores soon. Baci Lingerie, one of the leading players in the USA, plans to expand to other countries such as Spain, Brazil, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and UAE. Other successful competitors include Calida, Chantelle, Hunkemoeller, Lindex, Maidenform Brands, Triumph, Warnaco and Wolford. Players who showed a weak performance in this dynamic market were Austrian underwear specialist Palmers, which was up for sale in 2011, and La Senza UK, which went into administration at the end of 2011.

B2C E-Commerce Is Asia Is an Emerging Market

The “Asia B2C E-Commerce Report 2011” by Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com provides a detailed overview of B2C E-Commerce in Asia. In addition to the major players dominating this market, the report also presents figures relating to internet users and online shoppers. The report covers the most important markets in Japan, South Korea, China and India along with eleven further Asian countries.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/21/2011 -- Overall, Asia shows a very heterogeneous development in terms of internet and B2C E-Commerce. In Japan and South Korea, internet use is widely available, which spurs increased B2C E-Commerce revenue. In China, internet penetration is rather low, resulting in much growth potential for E-Commerce. The range of popular product categories varies widely, ranging from books to consumer electronics.

E-Commerce in Japan shows signs of recovery after the earthquake
In 2010, the number of internet users reached approximately 100 million in Japan, which corresponds to 80 % of the population. Following the earthquake in Japan, the major Japanese B2C E-Commerce players experienced a decline in revenue. However, now consumers are again buying more online. According to the "Asia B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com, in 2010 "Books" was the most popular B2C E-Commerce category, followed by "Fashion", "Music" and "Travel". Based on unique visitor numbers, Rakuten was the most successful Japanese B2C E-Commerce player in September 2011, followed by Amazon and Nissen.

Internet penetration in South Korea very high
In 2010, the number of internet users in South Korea rose to more than 35 million. Growth rates were very low in the last few years, given that almost the whole population between 10 and 40 has already been using the internet for a while. South Koreans seem to be very open toward new technologies. As a result, B2C E-Commerce is very well established. Revenue in this area is expected to increase significantly until 2015. Credit card payments are very popular in this segment. In 2010, the most popular product categories based on market volume were "Fashion and fashion related products", "Household appliances" and "Travel arrangements".

Mobile online shopping and group shopping soar in popularity in China
The number of internet users in China is predicted to grow to more than 600 million by 2015 and the number of online shoppers is expected to increase to more than 300 million. Mobile shopping continues to gain ground in China. This trend can be attributed to the growing number of smartphone sales and the increased use of 3G networks. According to the yStats.com "Asia B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" in 2010, the most successful Chinese B2C E-Commerce players were Tmall.com, 360buy.com, Amazon.cn and Dangdang.com. Group shopping is another trend in this market; based on daily unique visitor numbers in June 2011 ju.taobao.com took the lead.

Consumer electronics very popular in India
The number of internet users in India is expected to reach more than 200 million by 2015, which corresponds to almost 20 % of the population.

One of the main challenges that online shops have been confronted with for a long time is the desire of Indian consumers to see and touch products before buying them. As a result, many retailers offer Cash-on-Delivery payment and convenient return and refund options. As shown in the "Asia B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com, the leading product categories include "Mobile phones and accessories", followed by "Computer hardware" and "Consumer electronics". In October 2011, the leading B2C E-Commerce player gauged by unique visitor numbers was Homeshop18.com.

Internet penetration rate varies widely in East Asia
In Indonesia, the number of internet users is expected to grow from 60 million in 2010 to almost 170 million by 2015. Encouraged by this trend, Japanese online department store Rakuten has founded a joint venture online department store in Indonesia. The "Asia B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com shows furthermore that in 2010, the most popular product categories in Malaysia included "Travel", "Payment services" and "Entertainment". Overall, almost half of the population made online purchases. In the Philippines, almost 30 million people used the internet in 2010, which translates to approximately 30 % of the population. In Singapore, this share amounted to as much as 80 %.

More than one million people shopped online, with B2C E-Commerce revenue expected to increase by more than 30 % over the next few years. As highlighted in the "Asia B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com, B2C E-Commerce is also gaining ground in Thailand due to safe and convenient payment options. In early 2011, "Fashion", "Entertainment" and "IT products" were the leading categories in this segment. In Vietnam, the number of internet users reached almost 27 million in 2010, which is more than 30 % of the population. Enbac.com, 123mua.vn and 5giay.vn were among the most important competitors. In Hong Kong, E-Commerce still has much potential for growth. However, almost half of the population has shopped online at least once. The most popular product categories are "Tickets" and "Hotel stays". In Taiwan, in 2010 more than 16 million people used the internet. B2C E-Commerce is becoming increasingly important there too, with Books.com.tw and PCHome being the biggest players in this segment.

Development potential in the rest of Asia
In the United Arab Emirates, in 2010 almost half of all respondents had already made at least one purchase. Additionally, approximately 25 % of all respondents planned to make one purchase using their mobile phones in 2010. In Saudi Arabia, almost 40 % of all internet users purchased products online or paid online for services. In Pakistan, B2C E-Commerce is still largely underdeveloped. The number of online shops and online transactions continues to increase steadily and the number of internet users has already surpassed the 20 million threshold.

B2C E-Commerce Is Gaining More Ground Worldwide

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/21/2011 -- The recently published yStats.com series comprises the following four reports: "Global B2C E-Commerce Market Report 2011", "Global B2C E-Commerce Players Report 2011", "Global B2C E-Commerce Assortments Report 2011" and "Global B2C E-Commerce Trends Report 2011".

Market development – Asia continues its rise
The "Global B2C E-Commerce Market Report 2011", the first report in the yStats.com series, features data relating to internet users and online shoppers along with revenue figures for most markets. In 2011, already more than two billion people worldwide used the internet and based on the latest predictions this figure is expected to exceed 3 billion by 2015. Global B2C E-Commerce revenue was approximately 400 to 600 billion US dollars in 2010 and is expected to grow further to 700 to 950 billion by 2015. Asia will continue to play a major role in this development, considering that internet penetration has been relatively low in many countries of this region. The percentage of B2C E-Commerce revenue compared to total retail revenue is 8 % in more developed markets, such as France or Great Britain, and could continue to increase to 10 % over the next few years. In less developed B2C E-Commerce markets, this share is still far below 3 %.

Major players – Amazon.com dominates worldwide
The "Global B2C E-Commerce Players Report 2011" is the second report in the yStats.com series. It presents profiles and rankings of the major players in the developed markets. Profiles comprise information regarding business models, product categories and strategic news and – for selected competitors – revenue figures. The report focuses mostly on traditional online shops, but newer business models, such as private shopping sites, are also covered. The global market leaders include Amazon.com (USA), OTTO Group (Germany) and PPR (France). However, further B2C E-Commerce players like Rakuten (Japan) or Ozon (Russia), which continue to grow and expand rapidly, are featured in the report. In the category group shopping, rankings are presented for selected countries – the most important global player in this segment being Groupon.

Product categories – Consumer electronics and fashion popular worldwide
In the "Global B2C E-Commerce Assortments Report 2011", the third report in the yStats.com series, detailed information is given on the most popular product categories in different markets. The data were sourced from polls and – for selected countries – from revenue figures. Overall, "Consumer electronics" and "Fashion" rank as very popular categories in most countries. Purchasing food items online has not yet successfully established itself as a trend – only Great Britain is ahead of the curve in this segment.

Trends – Group shopping and mobile shopping continue to gain ground
The "Global B2C E-Commerce Trends Report 2011" is the fourth and final report in the yStats.com series. Aside from B2C E-Commerce trends, it also provides a detailed analysis of internet use in different regions. For selected countries also information is given about the rapidly growing segment of group shopping along with payment methods and logistics in E-Commerce. Mobile internet use continues to expand and the resulting increase of M-Commerce is another development covered in the report.

Great Growth Potential for Latin American B2C E-Commerce

In its “Latin America B2C E-Commerce Report 2011”, Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com analyzes B2C E-Commerce in large parts of Latin America. The report features the biggest B2C E-Commerce players, revenue figures and internet users, along with online shoppers and recent trends. In addition to Brazil, which is the most important market, developments in nine other Latin American countries are highlighted as well.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/21/2011 -- In 2011, Brazil was the country with the highest number of internet users in Latin America, followed by Mexico, Argentina, Columbia, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay and Paraguay. Over the next few years, the number of online shoppers in Latin America is expected to grow annually by 20 %. In line with this trend, B2C E-Commerce revenue is expected to increase to 30 billion US dollar by 2013. Group shopping also continues to soar in popularity – in April 2011, Groupon was the leading competitor in this segment, followed by Groupalia, Peixeurbano and Clickon.

Brazil dominates online retail in Latin America
The number of online shoppers in Brazil has shown double digit growth, with more than 20 million people making online purchases in 2010. With 80 %, "shopping" is one of the most popular activities of Brazilian internet users. The yStats.com "Brazil B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" shows that some Brazilians shop frequently – almost one quarter of all online customers had already made more than ten online purchases in the first half of 2011. In line with this trend, B2C E-Commerce revenue has rapidly increased. In the first half of 2011 alone, more revenue was generated than in all of 2008. "Household appliances", "Computers" and "Health, beauty and drugs" were the leading product categories in the first half of 2011. In September 2011, the most successful E-Commerce retailers were BuscaPe, Mercado Lovre and B2W. Group shopping is an important trend in Brazil – in September 2011, the leading portals in this segment were SaveMe, ApontaOfertas and Groupon.

Argentina and Mexico further important B2C E-Commerce markets
In Argentina, the number of internet users reached more than 26 million in 2010. "Travel and tourism", "Consumer electronics" and "Food, drinks and cleaning products" ranked as the most popular product categories; Falabella and Mercado Libre are the most successful players in this market. Internet users in Mexico are very young, with almost 40 % of them being younger than 18. B2C E-Commerce continues its rapid growth, with "Plane and bus tickets", "Entertainment tickets" and "Hotel reservations" being the most popular product categories in 2010.

Young internet users in Latin America
In Chile, B2C E-Commerce revenue increased from 2009 to 2010 by more than 30 %. In Columbia, travel websites were visited by more than 3 million people in June 2011. However, there is still much room for growth in B2C E-Commerce, given that only 5 % of internet users shopped online in 2010. In Ecuador, there were almost four million internet users in 2010, with Almacenes de Prati being one of the most successful B2C E-Commerce players. As clearly shown in the yStats.com "Latin America B2C E-Commerce Report 2011", Paraguay remains one of the least established B2C E-Commerce markets – in 2010, only 20 % of the population used the internet. "Education and learning", "Searching for information" and "Communication" were the most frequent activities cited by online users. In Peru, only 13 % of all households had internet access in 2010. In line with this trend, B2C E-Commerce is still underdeveloped, with Supermercados Wong being the biggest player in this segment. In Uruguay, half of all internet users were using the internet on a daily basis and in 2010, there were almost 400,000 online shoppers. "Computer accessories" and "Consumer electronics" were the leading product categories. In Venezuela the number of internet users totalled nearly 20 million in 2010. However, according to the "Latin America B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com, B2C E-Commerce is still not widely established due to the fact that the population has limited access to information and communication technologies.
Mobile online shopping and group shopping increasingly popular in China

Mobile shopping continues to gain ground in China. This trend can be attributed to the growing number of smartphone sales and the increased use of 3G networks. According to the "China B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com, the most successful Chinese B2C E-Commerce players in 2010 were Tmall.com, 360buy.com, Amazon.cn and Dangdang.com. Group shopping is another trend that predominates in this sector, prompting an ever higher number of competitors to enter the market, with the players Ju.taobao.com, Lashou.com and Meituan.com leading in June 2011.

The latest “South Korea B2C E-Commerce Report 2011” compiled by Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com features important B2C E-Commerce facts and figures on South Korea. In addition to revenue figures, market shares and customers, the report also covers general online use, the latest trends and major competitors.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/15/2011 -- In 2010, the number of internet users in South Korea rose to more than 35 million. Growth rates were very low in the last few years, given that almost the whole population between 10 and 40 has already been using the internet for a while.

Credit card payment enjoys wide-spread popularity in South Korean B2C E-Commerce

South Koreans seem to be very open toward new technologies. As a result, B2C E-Commerce is very well established. Revenue in this area is expected to generate more than USD 20 billion by 2015. Credit card payments are very popular in this segment. More than 70 % of the total online trade volume is processed using this payment method. In addition to general revenue figures, the yStats.com "South Korea B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" also shows the most popular product categories in terms of market volume in 2010. These categories include "Fashion and fashion related products", "Household appliances" and "Travel arrangements". Mobile trade is another significant trend in B2C E-Commerce. In 2011, British super market chain Tesco opened a virtual grocery store, where users can purchase products using their smartphones.

B2C E-Commerce in Japan Shows Signs of Recovery

In its latest “Japan B2C E-Commerce Report 2011”, market research firm yStats.com, based in Hamburg, gives an interesting overview of the Japanese B2C E-Commerce market. In addition to trends, the report covers revenue figures, market shares, consumers and competitors.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2011 -- Following the earthquake in Japan, the major Japanese B2C E-Commerce players experienced a decline in revenue. However, now consumers are again buying more online. Nonetheless, retailers are still worried about the long-term effects of the crisis.

Internet use continues to be very high in Japan

In 2010, the number of internet users reached approximately 100 million in Japan, which corresponds to approximately 80 % of the population.

In 2011, more than 80 % of all Japanese internet users visited shopping websites. Additionally, in June 2011 they spent the longest time on blogging websites (more than an hour per day) worldwide. According to the "Japan B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com, in 2010 "Books" was the most popular B2C E-Commerce category followed by "Fashion", "Music" and "Travel". Based on unique visitor numbers, Rakuten was the most successful Japanese B2C E-Commerce player in September 2011, followed by Amazon and Nissen. Encouraged by its success, Rakuten has continued to expand globally through take-overs of international E-Commerce competitors such as British Play.com.

Great Potential of Indian B2C E-Commerce

The latest “India B2C E-Commerce Report 2011” by Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com presents the most important B2C E-Commerce facts on the Indian market. The report features the biggest B2C E-Commerce players, revenue figures and market shares, along with consumers, product categories and trends.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2011 -- The number of internet users in India is expected to reach more than 230 million by 2015, which corresponds to almost 20 % of the population. Despite these numbers, online shops are still confronted with various challenges.

Online shopping finds little support in India

Indian online shops need to take into account that the average Indian consumer still shows little interest in online shopping. One of the main challenges that online shops have been confronted with for a long time is the desire of Indian consumers to see and touch products before buying them. As a result, many retailers offer cash-on-delivery payment and convenient return and refund options. Nonetheless, B2C E-Commerce experienced a more than 30 % growth from 2010 to 2011 in India. As shown in the yStats.com "India B2C E-Commerce Report 2011", the leading product categories include "Mobile Phones and Accessories", followed by "Computer Hardware" and "Consumer Electronics". In October 2011, the leading B2C E-Commerce player in terms of unique visitor numbers was Homeshop18.com, followed by Letsbuy.com, Indiatimes Shopping and Rediff Shopping.

B2C E-Commerce Continues Its Upward Trend in Europe

The latest “Europe B2C E-Commerce Report 2011” presented by Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com provides a detailed overview of B2C E-Commerce in Europe. The analysis features 35 countries from Central, Western and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. It includes trends and revenue figures, along with product categories and competitors in European B2C E-Commerce.

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2011 -- The highest overall B2C E-Commerce revenue in 2010 was reported in the UK, followed by Germany, France, Spain and Italy. Furthermore, the number of online shoppers in Europe is predicted to surpass 200 million by 2015. In terms of the share of internet users on the total population, Norway came in first, followed by the Netherlands, Denmark and Finland.

Germany has the highest number of internet users in Central Europe

By the end of 2010, Germany's online population was the largest in the entire EU counting more than 50 million internet users. "Fashion and sporting goods" was the most popular B2C E-Commerce category, followed by the categories "Books, magazines and e-learning material" and "Film and music". According to the "Europe B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com in 2011, almost three quarters of the population in Austria used the internet at home. Furthermore, differences regarding internet access between rural and urban areas are diminishing. In the category group shopping in Austria, Groupon.at and DailyDeal.at were leading in June 2011. In Switzerland, Amazon – followed by La Redoute and Weltbild – was the leading competitor in B2C E-Commerce in terms of unique visitor figures.

Fashion and travel arrangements - most popular categories in Western Europe

Online revenue for fashion items continues to increase in the UK, also due to the growing importance of social media. In 2010, almost half of all individuals aged 25-34 purchased products online in the category "clothes and sports goods". The "Europe B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com shows that in France in the first quarter of 2011 eBay, Amazon, Cdiscount and PriceMinister were the leading competitors in B2C E-Commerce measured by internet traffic. In Belgium in May 2011, French retailer La Redoute ranked first measured by monthly unique visitor numbers, followed by 3 Suisses. Internet penetration is still relatively low in Spain and broadband access is less available than in most other Western European countries.

B2C E-Commerce still faces barriers in Eastern Europe

In Poland, the most popular product categories are "Clothes and sporting goods" and "Household goods". When it comes to online revenue, Allegro.pl, Neo24.pl and Electro.pl top the ranking. In Russia, online food retailer Utkonos.ru generated the highest online revenue in 2010, followed by generalist Ozon.ru, which has built up its own delivery network. In the Czech Republic, almost two thirds of all online shoppers believe that shopping goods online is cheaper than at traditional outlets. Furthermore, the number of online shoppers and total spending continue to increase. The biggest hurdle in Czech E-Commerce is long delivery times. As shown in the yStats.com "Europe B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" the low internet penetration rate and limited online payment options curb growth in Hungary. There, the leading competitor in terms of unique visitor numbers is Bookline.hu, followed by Edigital.hu and Libri.hu. In Slovakia, in 2010 "Fashion and sporting goods" and "Household goods" were the most popular B2C E-Commerce categories.

Event tickets – popular category in Scandinavia

In Sweden, approximately 40 % of all individuals aged 25 to 34 purchased books and magazines online. As a result, online book retailer Adlibris was one of the most popular B2C E-Commerce competitors in 2010, followed by Cdon, Ellos and H & M. In Denmark, event tickets, accommodation and other travel arrangements rank among the leading product categories. Group shopping is another important trend – Groupon planned to launch a Danish site in September 2011. In Finland, goods accounted for less than half of all B2C E-Commerce revenue in 2010. In 2011, in Norway, more than 90 % of all households had access to the internet and frequency of mobile internet use continues to grow. In line with this trend, online shopping is gaining in popularity.

The Top 50 Russian B2C E-Commerce Players: Groupon at Top of the List With Darberry.ru

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) --11/23/2011 -- In its recent "Russia Top 50 B2C E-Commerce Players 2011" ranking, Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com uses national unique visitor counts from July 2011 to nominate the 50 most successful players of the Russian B2C E-Commerce market. Furthermore, it features interesting details such as international unique visitor figures, percentage reach, business models, products, strategic and general company news, shareholders and – for selected players – B2C E-Commerce revenues.

In general, the Russian B2C E-Commerce market is dominated by national companies. However, many Russian players, such as Darberry.ru, Ozon.ru and KupiVIP, are backed by high amounts of foreign investment.

Consumer electronics is one of the most popular product categories

As shown in the yStats.com ranking, both online retailers, such as Ozon.ru, as well as stationary retailers that have expanded their product range by adding online shops, such as Eldorado or MVideo, are represented in the Russian B2C E-Commerce market. Consumer electronics is one of the most popular product categories. However, fashion and clothing items as well as food products are offered by fewer of the top 50 players.

Group and private shopping are also important trends in Russia

As highlighted in the yStats.com ranking, the player with the highest number of local unique visitors in the Russian B2C E-Commerce market is Darberry.ru (5.2 million visitors from Russia in July 2011), which is affiliated with Groupon. Group shopping is an important trend in Russia too. Thanks to a deal with Odnoklassniki, a Russian Facebook clone, Darberry.ru promotes its deals on this social network platform. Online market place Yandex Market is in second place, followed by co-shopping site Biglion in third. Online shoe dealer Sapato.ru is in fourth place, and Ozon.ru – the "Russian Amazon" – in fifth. Private shopping is another important trend in Russia. KupiVIP is in sixth place with 2.2 million visitors from Russia. This Internet platform, which offers new deals on a daily basis, also wants to collaborate with the social network Odnoklassniki. Bonprix, Wildberries, Mail.ru and Quelle complete the top 10.

Growth Potential in Turkish B2C E-Commerce

Hamburg, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/21/2011 -- Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com gives a detailed overview of B2C E-Commerce in Turkey in its latest "Turkey B2C E-Commerce Report 2011." The analysis includes figures about internet use, online purchases and revenues along with competitors, products offered and trends.

In 2010, approximately 40 % of the Turkish population used the internet. When it comes to broadband access per 100 inhabitants, Turkey still lags far behind Germany and the USA. Furthermore, only 1 % of all Turks accessed the internet via mobile phones in 2010, which is by far below the EU average. There is much more potential for growth in the B2C E-Commerce market in Turkey.

Fashion and consumer electronics are popular categories for online shopping in Turkey
In Turkey the internet is mostly used to read news online or to download newspaper and magazine articles. Almost half of the Turkish population used the internet to search for "product and service related information." Consequently, almost 20 % of all internet users have purchased products and services for personal use online in 2011. B2C E-Commerce revenue accounted for more than 5 % of the total retail revenue in 2010. According to the "Turkey B2C E-Commerce Report 2011" by yStats.com the most popular product categories for online purchases are "fashion, sporting goods", "consumer electronics", "home appliances" and "books, magazines, newspapers." The leading Turkish E-Commerce competitor in 2011 gauged by unique visitor numbers was Sahibinden.com, followed by auction platform Gittigidiyor.com and generalist Hepsiburada.com.
