Metabolic Typing - Losing Weight Successfully

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/20/2012 -- For many people, trying to lose weight is a never-ending battle. Despite much dieting and physical activity, the desired weight loss fails to appear. Sometimes there are even more pounds added to the scale than before the diet. The alternative medical approach, "metabolic typing", considers the individual metabolic type of each person in order to make a diet more successful. According to that method, every single person has a unique metabolic system with varying needs for nutrients. Therefore, for a healthy weight management, an individual diet must fit to the metabolic type.

Where does metabolic typing come from?
The theory of metabolic types goes back to the 1930s. Already in that period, the personalised need for nutrients was subject to several scientific studies. The American biochemist Dr. Roger J. Williams also made research in that field and found out that the differences between single persons are not only limited to appearance, but also affect the brain structure, as well as the nervous, circulatory and muscular systems. Dr. Williams concluded: "We have to develop a method to capture the individual strengths and weaknesses of humans more precisely. Call it 'metabolic profile' or whatever you want, but you certainly need this information to compile a decent dietary recommendation that suits the individual needs."
During the 20th century, this thesis was constantly developing further. In 1970, the American Dr. William Kelley successfully treated cancer patients with a therapy that was based on an individual diet. Seven years later, one of his students, Dr. William L. Wolcott, followed this approach and created a medical system to determine and analyse the metabolism. This is not only the foundation for treatment and prevention of light and severe diseases, but it is also a precondition for successful weight loss according to that method.

Different metabolic types
In this theory there are different metabolic types, which process the consumed nutrients in diverse ways. The recommended daily minimum requirement of carbohydrates and proteins, in particular, is based on that. In general, there are three comprehensive types:

Carbohydrate-type
Everybody who can eat plenty of carbohydrate-rich food without gaining weight fast nor feeling hungry, even a few hours later, is probably a carbohydrate-type. This type is characterised by a rapid metabolic rate and a relatively small appetite. Many people of this group are busy at work and therefore often skip meals. However, because of their quick metabolism, regular meals are particularly vital.
This type should focus on a carbohydrate-rich diet, which means a lot of bread, noodles, or rice. Proteins are also important, more precisely light and low-fat ones. These kinds of proteins are for instance found in lean chicken meat and white fish. Such a regulated diet stimulates fat burning and supports achieving weight loss.

Protein-type
The exact opposite of the carbohydrate-type is the protein-type. This group gains weight really fast after eating carbohydrate-rich meals and is hungry again shortly afterwards, mostly for foods rich in fat. Moreover, the desire for sugar rises quicker.
The protein-type needs a diet that is rich in proteins and fats, but low in carbohydrates. Rich proteins, such as eggs, dark chicken meat, and milk products should be added to their menu. They also need healthy fats, as to be found in olive oil. Protein-types who fail to eat rich proteins are hungry all day long and tend to overweight.

Mixed type
The least complicated of the three types is the mixed type. This one can choose from the largest selection of food and should generate a balance between proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Mixed types can have more similar tendencies towards either carbohydrate- or protein-types. When creating their personal menu, they have to listen to their body individually to decide which food is first choice in health perspective.

Support in losing weight from CaloriScan
Metabolic typing is not a conventional diet, but a method to realise a long-term change of eating routines. Everybody following this approach has to consider the own metabolic type to successfully lose or maintain weight. Carefully choosing foods leads to well-being and a healthier lifestyle. People trying to lose weight should also keep track of their energy balance. In order to support a well-balanced diet, it is advisable to monitor the calories burned as well. A tool like the CaloriScan from Omron helps comparing the intake and outtake. This handy device classifies every kind of movement and reliably calculates the resulting calories burned, even considering the metabolic rate at rest. The Omron calorie counter provides valuable motivation during and after a diet, thus 24 hours a day. Due to its compact size, it fits in every pocket, enabling a continuous calorie control without annoying impairments, long-term measuring systems or device calibration.

Common Running Mistakes Made by Professional Athletes and Beginners

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/16/2012 -- Running seems to be so simple: Just put on your shoes and go! But there are a few obstacles waiting on and off the track. Even experienced runners often unnecessarily face health risks or performance setbacks, always trying to achieve a new personal best. Everybody, from beginners to pros, needs to consider some basic rules and guidelines in order to run good times as well as finish healthily and safely.

Ignoring the body's warning signals

It is the classic marathon mistake. Running with the motto: "more and more, faster and faster" does not only drastically increase the risk of developing overuse injuries, but also extends the time for recuperating. Every athlete has to be careful with their own body and immediately react to warning signals. One day can be bad, but the next one might be more successful; forcing it is counterproductive for long term success.

Too many competitions

Despite all ambitions: Competing in one race after the other is a misunderstanding of the athletic spirit. After a marathon and the intensive training that goes with it, the body needs time to regenerate. A reduced training program for two weeks after a marathon is far from being a shame; actually, it makes perfect sense to avoid overtraining as well as physical and mental impairments. If you aspire to attend two marathons like Paris and London which take place shortly after each other, it is better to go well-trained and concentrated to just one of them than exhausted with the risk of long-term problems to both marathons.

Insufficient nutrition

The right diet and drinking habits highly influence the runner's physical potential. Before and particularly during the race, an adequate nutrient and liquid supply is of crucial significance. Important in that respect: No experimenting during the competition! Only use nutrient supplements which you have already tried in training. Do not test stomach tolerances on 42 kilometres! Moreover, the chase of seconds can be an unhealthy ambition if supply stations are skipped to save time. Especially on the last third of the race, a sufficient supply of liquid and electrolytes is absolutely necessary to stay fit and strong.

Inadequate regeneration

Every ambitious runner has to give their body the necessary time for regeneration. Overtraining must be avoided! Even most experienced runners reach the often quoted super-compensation only under professional guidance. Rest, strength and stabilisation training as well as reduced running after a competition are high up on the list to get muscles, skeleton and the cardiovascular system ready again for the next challenge. Note: The phase of regeneration is not an unwanted time-out, but part of the training just, like the active running.

Neglecting strength training

There is no success in endurance sports without strength training! Everybody who wants to be faster, benefits from additional muscle training. A strong skeletal structure helps to withstand the extreme strain during competition. Running with weights or special training for the legs can make the difference on the track. A short time before the competition, however, you should reduce the training of legs and normally rather neglected groups of muscles. Also true in this regard: No experimenting shortly before the competition!

Wrong equipment

The right running shoes are of major importance for every ambitious runner. Consult a specialist shoe store to find out if your current apparel is the best choice for you individually. Regular analysis of your running style combined with trying out the new shoe generation extends the fun of running for both beginners and pros. Depending on ground and use, runners should have several pairs of shoes to choose from. The division between competition and training shoes made by manufacturers is necessary and helpful. Equally important: the right running clothing, selected according to the respective weather conditions. Jogging as an "onion" will keep you in shape during winter and prepare you to be successful in spring, summer and autumn.

No medical care

Athletes attending a marathon should be aware of the extreme strain they will be putting their bodies through. Already before and during the phase of training, a sport-medical examination is obligatory. At many international competitions, a medical certificate is a precondition to registering. A regular check-up of health and performance minimises the risk of overuse, rules out possible nutritional deficiencies and ensures successful training.

Inadequate training schedule

Ambitious runners understand the necessity of an individual training schedule, but the conceptions of richness in detail vary considerably. A good plan also includes effective split trainings, calm and long endurance runs, mountain sprints, pace and competitions runs. Equally advisable are phases of alternative training: swimming, cycling or inline-skating can also free your mind.

Running without monitoring

The purpose of training is the improvement and stabilisation of performance through the continual increase of running ability. Appropriate tools to monitor the efficiency of training are available on the market. Easy-to-use running computers which reliably provide data like current and average speed, distance and running time do not need to be overpriced. The activity monitor JogStyle from Omron, for instance, is available for less than 60 Euro in selected sport specialist shops as well as online. With 3-D sensor technology and memory-function, the own performance curve can be easily monitored, analysed and improved.

Barbecues - Obstacles on the Path to a Beach Body

Mönchengladbach, Nordrhein-Westfalen -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/14/2012 -- The barbecue season has started and invites all fans of grilled meat to join. In the right atmosphere, with family or friends, it is more than alluring to enjoy some delicious food. But the things that taste so good on BBQ's are often mean calorie bombs. Even though the spring was spent with disciplined training and conscious eating to get rid of some extra pounds, the images and scents of juicy steaks, fresh baguettes and tempting sauces get us off the track. Of course, there is no need to miss out on everything, but a lot of the food is not a good and healthy basis for a trained body. With a better understanding of the containing calories, one can easily avoid the biggest calorie traps and maintain a perfect beach body!

'Hearty meals' does not equal 'full of calories'
Beside the right coal on the grill, the meat is the most important factor for a successful barbecue. Whether steaks, sausages, burger or pork ribs – the choice is immense, the decision far from being easy. On top of that, we dip the meat in plenty of sauces and eat the salads with a lot of mayonnaise. Congratulations: Your beach body will say goodbye! Everyone who likes to enjoy hearty barbecue pork consumes 224 kcal per 4-oz. The average beef burger contains even 304 kcal, followed by a chicken drumstick, which has almost the same amount of calories. The list can be continued eternally. Those numbers do not only sound mighty, they unfortunately are. If you want to maintain a calorie-conscious eating routine also during barbecue season, you should put low-fat meat on your plate. Healthier alternatives are fillets, which contain about 100-120 kcal in 3.5-oz. With only 100 kcal, turkey and chicken breast can be eaten without hesitation. A little bit more expensive, but really low in calories, are fish and seafood. Leave out the mighty sauces, and just spice them with lemon, herbs and garlic – Delicious!

Attention sauce-sinners
Whether with chili, curry or sour cream – for many people, sauces are the perfect component to meat and thereby indispensable at barbecues. Exotic and extravagant flavours stimulate the appetite and make us eat more than normally. It's a shame that even a small amount of sauce is full of sugar! Especially red variations contain much sugar, while white sauces are very fatty. The list of ingredients on the products provides a good and detailed overview of the containing substances. If sugar is the first item on the list, put the sauce back on the shelf! Try fat-low yoghurt products as an alternative. Also, calorie-low dips are easily prepared with yoghurt, onions, dried tomatoes and herbs. People who like their meat or fish with marinade should not use oil but plain yoghurt. In the end, it can be spiced up with herbs and garlic.

Eat plenty without worries
Noodles, potatoes, rice or green salad – side dishes have to be on every plate at a barbecue. They are not only healthy and filling, but also contain fewer calories if you prepare them the right way. Potatoes baked with herbs in aluminum foil are delicious and have only 175 kcal in 8.8-oz. Grilled vegetables on a spit are particularly calorie-low and colourful side dishes. Equally good are tasty salads with fresh vegetables and balsamic-dressing, which can be enjoyed without remorse.

Calorie management for a healthy lifestyle
Whether at barbecues, during office breaks, at breakfast or dinner – Everyone who develops a consciousness for calories makes a big step towards a healthier life. Support is made by the CaloriScan from Omron. Measuring exactly the daily calorie consumption for 24 hours a day, this device is a useful companion at barbecues as well as during sport. It differentiates and classifies any kind of movement, in daily life and training. The walk to the grill or real physical fitness – thanks to the 3-D sensor technology, the CaloriScan detects the various activities and calculates them reliably. Therefore, users can monitor their individual calorie consumptions and know quickly whether or not the next steak is a sin.

Good-bye JoJo - Run Away from Your Pounds

Hoofddorp, Netherlands -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/31/2012 -- The usual method to lose weight is to go on a diet. But once the extra pounds are defeated, it is important to stay ambitious and active. Otherwise it quickly grows again – often even worse than before the diet. Unfortunately, this effect is familiar to many people. Disappointment and frustration are the results. Nevertheless, this does not mean that going on a diet cannot be successful on the long term. There is a simple recipe for achieving one's weight management goals: more sport!

Reasons for gaining more weight after going on a diet

The main reason for the rapid weight gain after a diet is the body's lower needs for energy. The metabolic rate decreases because of two factors: Firstly, a certain amount of weight is lost; and secondly, besides fat, also muscle tissue is reduced, which consumes more energy in general – whether during physical activity or at rest.
Another influence is the considerable discrepancy in the calorie intake during and after a diet. While losing weight, the body adjusts to the smaller amount of calories a day. When people return to their old eating habits, the organism stores the additional calories as fat reserves.

Solution: Sport in each phase of a diet

Before going on a diet
Everyone trying to lose weight should be well-prepared before starting a diet. It is recommendable to create a detailed nutrition and sport schedule, including the personal goals and conceptions. The phase of losing weight is not a time of torture and renunciation. To just eat about 50% less than normally is the wrong way. That rather causes to gain more weight afterwards. The right way is to have an individual menu, which provides a well-balanced, healthy diet, and is supported by regular physical activities.

Being on a diet
In order to achieve an effective weight loss it is also vital to do sports. That is stimulating for the fat burning, and also stabilises the musculature, which is particularly important since the body's muscle tissue is reduced on a diet. Such a reduction is hindering from losing weight. Supporting the musculature through sport can prevent this effect.

After the diet
When the extra pounds are gone, the physical activities have to continue – for the body's fitness and health. It is equally crucial to avoid the old eating rituals. This does not mean that being on a diet is a life-long sentence; rather, a conscious eating routine is needed to give the body more time for rearrangement of the increasing food supply. That way, the silhouette stays slim even after finishing a diet.

Training support made by Omron

A lack of motivation is often the main reason for neglecting sport before, during and after a diet. But especially jogging or walking effectively support the process of losing weight. The JogStyle by Omron is the right device for everybody who is looking for some extra motivation. The handy activity monitor offers several practical functions to support a healthy and controlled weight reduction. Thus, it not only measures the common values for distance, time and velocity but also the calorie consumption and fat burning. The memory function enables the user to easily track, analyse and improve the individual performance. As a personal trainer 24/7, the JogStyle is the perfect companion to keep the weight in the long run.

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/23/2012 -- Sightjogging, trail running, Parkour or slacklining – the list of modern trend sports is getting longer and longer. Today, more and more people are taking up Free Running, a slightly more aesthetic version of Parkour.

Behind the term Free Running, hides a very peculiar form of locomotion. Following the motto "Feel free to try other disciplines", Free Running not only means overcoming barriers and obstacles, but doing so in an artistic, acrobatic and "free" way. Whether running backwards or sideways, doing somersaults or cartwheels, jumping or twirling around, the body is constantly moving, and creativity knows no bounds.

Parkour has long been established in the sporting scene and is recognized as an independent sport. Around the same time, Sebastian Foucan invented Free Running. Whereas Parkour means overcoming obstacles of any kind as efficiently as possible, in Free Running, the focus is put on moving freely. Fitness, strength and quickness play an important role in both sports. Years of training are essential in order to take part in this sport without getting injured.

Free Running was first used as another term for Parkour, but has now been established within the community, as a separate sport. In Free Running, artistic and acrobatic movements are fully part of the training. The body is constantly in motion, the runner interacts with the objects surrounding him and uses his acrobatic skills to get around. So along a straight road, one does not necessarily run in a straight line, but instead uses the complexity of his own body to move around as freely and creatively as possible. No wall, bush, bench or steps are an obstacle for the freerunner – everything can be overcome by using physical movement.

Jumping, climbing, turning and rolling, all put a lot of stress on the freerunner's body. The risk of injury is of course much higher than for normal running, so a precise and sustained training plan, if possible with a professional, is very important. Training in groups is also recommended, as you can then support and learn from each other. Having fun is the most important thing in Free Running, so it is especially important that you do not act recklessly, but continuously work on your technique. Numerous videos showing the variety of possible movements in Free Running can be found of the internet.

Runners without any freerunning skills can also incorporate some variety into their training routine. Running backwards or sideways, jumping over small obstacles, turning around or slaloming – with Free Running, the imagination knows no limits.

No Time for Sport the Right Time Management Is Important

"I just don’t have time to exercise." Many people have a tight schedule every day: work, shopping, household, meet with friends, spending time with the family and eventually have some rest for themselves.

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/12/2012 -- Apparently there is no time to follow a sportive activity. The right balance between everyday life and sport depends on the inner attitude and a consequent time management. In contrast to television, computer or telephone, sport isn't a so-called "time thief", but keeps fit, is fun and strengthens the health.

There is no doubt that in addition to an 8 - to 10-hour working day it is difficult to find enough space for leisure. Therefore it is important to plan these precious hours correctly. With the aid of a time schedule, it is possible to fix in advance, when something has to be done. In general, it's important to set priorities and to be sure about which tasks are important and which are unimportant. Important (and sometimes unpleasant) things should be done immediately and not be postponed. To watch the favourite show on television in the evening, a visit to the gym or jogging should be placed in the morning or just choose another evening. Distractions and the occasional disability to say "no" sometimes mess up the own schedule. The intention to go for a run at 18 o'clock should be taken as seriously as the getting up in the morning to get to work in time.

A positive attitude and plenty of rest
The most important element for a good time management is the inner attitude. At work we are doing our best to achieve certain goals. Therefore it is also reasonable to set oneself specific goals in the sport and work on these consistently – after all a sense of achievement is the best motivation to keep going. Who runs regularly is able to participate in running events such as a half marathon or a 10-kilometer run. With a goal like this, training is always worth it. Who wants to lose a few pounds can also work with a time goal. To be fully efficient, sufficient rest periods are essential. Enough sleep, breaks at work and a little rest in between is important to keep body and soul in balance. Friends and family should be involved in the personal time management as well.

More motivation with the JogStyle
There will always be a time when the inner temptation is stronger than the personal motivation. In these moments it is advisable to, at least, go for a walk and blast off again the next day. The JogStyle of Omron not only presents the personal performance during the training, but is able to control and optimize the own physical activity in everyday life.

Breathing Through Mouth or Nose Chest and Stomach Breathing Helpful Tips on Using the Correct Breathing Techniques During Running

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) --01/03/2012 -- A proper breathing technique is vital to achieve better running results. Both beginners and runners should develop their own breathing rhythm in order to be able to exploit their full potential for running. To achieve, first of all, sportsmen should follow their intuitive breathing, which adapts to their own movement speed. My JogStyle tells you all that should be taken into account.

Beginners are often unsure about how to breathe during running. Firstly, it is important that we do not force ourselves to a certain breathing rhythm, because it can lead to a tension in the body. We have to breathe intuitively and automatically. It can happen that due to overly high running speed, we start puffing and panting. The basic rules for an easy running is the following: Everything is fine as far as we are able to talk during running. Thus it is sufficient to breathe through the nose. When we increase the running intensity, we switch automatically to breathing through the mouth, because in this way more oxygen passes into the lungs. Unfortunately, during winter due to cold weather this breathing method can cause the irritation of the throat and the bronchial tubes and there is an increasing risk of an infection.

When we breathe through the nose the air will be sufficiently heated up before it reaches the lungs.

During running it is important to breathe out deeply and strongly. In this way no air remains in the lungs and we can breathe in again normally. Thus the lung volume is fully exhausted and the optimal amount of oxygen is provided for the body. For this breathing through the stomach and diaphragm is highly recommended, that can be trained also during the retirement phase. The lung volume cannot be fully exhausted during a shallow chest breathing, which results in a reduced performance capacity. Stitches in the side can be also a negative side effect of the wrong breathing technique. A maximum oxygen supply of the body can be granted by breathing deeply into the belly.

In summary, it can be said: When possible, we should breathe through the nose. In order to reach the full performance capability, breathing through the stomach is highly advisable. It is most important that we breathe out deeply to exhaust the lung volume. Each person has to develop his or her own breathing rhythm and follow the signs shown by the body. In case one perceives stitches in the sides, breathlessness or dizziness, he or she should reduce the running speed or stop the training.

Running in the cold Onion Look

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/22/2011 -- The clear autumn air and the beautiful colours of nature are the perfect conditions to go out and do the running training. The right clothing is essential - but what is the best to wear if the temperatures slightly above 0 degrees? The onion look is the perfect method.

As the name suggests, the layers of the onion in our case mean different pieces of cloths laying on each other. As a runner you should invest in proper running clothes, because a thick jacket or even a cotton sweater is totally inappropriate. It keeps you warm, but there is nothing worse than a wet sticky substance on the skin. As a basis, we can recommend a light shirt or vest which is breathable. If the temperatures is icy, a specific functional and tight underwear is recommended There must be enough space between the lower and upper layer, with the body temperature can be adequately regulated.

As undershirt a breathable, windproof and longsleeve t-shirt is the best. It is able to keep out the cold temperature but meantime let the moister escape sufficiently. Nothing is more unpleasant than an adhesive wet shirt on skin - which cools the body quickly. As a top layer, a so-called hoodie is recommended, so a jacket with a hood. These textiles must be breathable, wind and moisture proof that a few raindrops or snowflakes cannot disturb us. During the cold season the light reflectors are very important because the training is often at night, the top layer can be outfitted with light reflectors, so you will be seen by other road users.

For tights or trousers, there are several possibilities. It can be slim fit or a little dizzy but the most important is that it must be windproof and breathable.

As head and fingers cool rapidly, one should saved them with gloves, headband or hat. The sports retailers have always got special offers. As a runner, you should wear special running socks to avoid unnecessary friction resulted from sweat feet. In autumn and winter socks should also be high cut so it can adequately protect the skin from cold.

As an ambitious runner you should be equipped in time with the right cloths and if you like, in a sports shop you can get advice. Running makes fun also in the cold season but only with the right equipment.

Calorie Traps in the Advent Period This Is One Way to Avoid the Most Dangerous Ones

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2011 -- Advent period is famous from crunching and mincing! Potato cakes, cookies, baked fish, mulled wine and so on - sweet, salty and especially high-calorie foods are lurking around us on every corner. The calorie traps are troubling our conscience, but mostly, we can justify the great taste, because Christmastime is only once a year. Respecting a few tips everybody can avoid the worst calorie bombs and also the embarrassing moments with the away breaking and jumping trousers knob.

It's a pity if somebody does sport whole year long looking for a perfect shape and at Christmastime eats without limits, easily taking up some kilos on the hip. Fortunately that is not obligatory, just follow a few tips and the biggest calorie traps can be avoided and the tastes really enjoyed. Most dangerous areas are the Christmas markets because the selections of delicates are mostly great. One serving of potato pancakes with applesauce may already have around 700 calories, a crepe with Nutella totals up to 400 calories. Mostly we cannot resign from the taste of the potato cake and we do not have to. If we absorb with a napkin the dripping fat it means at least one teaspoon less fat in the stomach. In case of crepes, if we use powder sugar some extra energy can be saved. A tarte flambee can be a delicious and lower calorie alternative for both. Learn to take as little chocolate as possible, because most of the calories are in it.

Another seductive shape killer is the freshly roasted almond. Such a delicious bag counts more than 500 calories. Also very tasty, but much lower in calories are chestnuts. Regarding the obvious junk foods like sausage, baked fish and fried potatoes, you can calculate with 500-800 kcal. per servings. Try an alternative: Prague ham or kebab with lots of vegetables and little meat to avoid high calorie consumption.

Donuts and stolen are the deserts on the top of the calorie table. A slice of stolen takes at least 300 kcal., a normal portion of donuts can reach 810 calories! That is why we should avoid these delicious deserts.

The popular mulled wine is a real shape killer because of its sugar content. A shot hot drink hits the impressive 250 calories level. Many stands also offer apple cider, which contains less calories, though a good alternative. Nevertheless, mulled wine is still the lower calorie variant compared to Lumumba with cream (380 kcal) or eggnog (320 calories) that contains more sugar. A very bad combination is fatty food and alcohol together because alcohol influences the breakdown of fat in the body. – This mixture is the biggest enemy for our shape.

The best method in the Advent period against the extra kilos can be, if we mind on our food and do sports continuously. Even in the cold season there are many opportunities for sporting. Keep fit and fight againt the laziness. For other useful tips in perspective sports, healthy living, special recipes and information, surf on www.myjogstyle.com.

Sporting Activity the Basis for a Healthy and Restful Sleep

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/29/2011 -- Restful sleep - vital but not evident. More than 20 percent of the population suffers from sleep disorder. The everyday stress, pressures in work, fear or concern are the main causes of this problem and can lead to an irregular sleep schedule. The symptoms are: concentration difficulties, poor performance, fatigue, headaches and muscle tension and they will be a constant companion in everyday life if we do not fight against insomnia. The best basis for a restful sleep can be reached trough physical exercise, mental activity and recovery together.

Almost everyone knows this situation: Although tiredness a suitable sleeping position cannot be find. Mostly people roll themselves back and forth or lie awake for hours. Who very often sleeps poorly, waking up several times during the night or cannot sleep restful, should be aware of a possible sleep disorder.

For those who are living a weary stressful life, the consequences are precarious: In addition to the reduced performance and concentration problems, insomnia also increases the risk of heart attack and depression. For the human body, sleep is vital to the sufficient regeneration.

That is the reason why the identification of the causes in case of insomnia is very urgent and the medical attendance needs to start as quickly as possible.

In order to avoid sleepless nights, not only the physical but the emotional balance are essential. Usually a small change in your own life habits can be a good start. For example the best suited sport activities are running, swimming or cycling. Sports lead to better fitness and also strengthen the cardiovascular and immune systems. After the sport the regeneration phase is an important factor, because it helps us to make a balance between body and soul. A healthy diet is the second important component for a restful sleep and it must provide everything the body is in need of like essential vitamins, minerals and proteins. Time management plays an important role, too: the last meal should be three hours before sleeping-time; Light food like meat, fish and vegetables are recommended. Considered those advises, you will find the requested peaceful sleep in a soundproof dark room. The computer or TV should stay out because it can disturb your calmness.

Adrenaline and Sport Hormonal Regulation of Human Body by Sports

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/29/2011 -- For all extreme athletes the search for so-called adrenaline puts them in to a kind of euphoria. In everyday life, the stress hormone plays an important role in our metabolism. But what exactly adrenaline is, how is it produced and what about its function in the body? My JogStyle explains the context also why regular exercise are so important for people and their well-being.

The hormone adrenaline, also called epinephrine, is beside with dopamine and nor epinephrine are catecholamines. The human body produces these hormones in cells of the sympathetic nervous system and also in the marrow of the adrenal gland. In danger or stress situation in our organs stored adrenalin is released into the blood. An increased adrenaline output has different effects on the body: increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, enlarge respiratory passages, increased blood support for the muscular system and reduction of gastrointestinal activity.

Originally, the adrenaline helped our ancestors to be able to react for dangerous situations. The release of the stress hormone supported the body with energy very fast, allowing fleeing quickly or being able to fight. Nowadays we move naturally not as much as our ancestors, but sport and exercises are important in everyday life because they help to reduce the extra energy which is provided to the body and sufficiently reduce and regulate hormones. With movement we can indicate important processes in which adrenaline has an important role: balancing the hormonal deliver and increase our overall well-being. In extreme sports like bungee jumping, rafting, parachuting or running a marathon the increased adrenaline output enables people to increase their performance or to generate frenzy high.

Hypoglycemia, stress, alcohol, coffee or high blood pressures are the factors that can lead to increased levels of adrenaline in the blood plasma. Normally, the hormone is rapidly degraded again, but a permanent overproduction can be harmful. Side effects are for example: too much stress, headaches, cramps, nausea, dizziness or an elevated blood glucose level. A systematic application of adrenaline products can cause serious cardiac and circulatory troubles. Depending on the dosage and the person's condition, side effects achieve a wide range from heart failure to heart attack and cardiac arrest. Due to the harmful effects it is not recommended for any athlete to use adrenaline products to improve his performance. The effect can be considered as doping.

Medicine has discovered this hormone for its special effect. In particular, the emergency medicine is one of the most important operators. For example, adrenaline during resuscitation has a life-saving effect. It is also used in case of serious shock, acute asthma attack and to stop local bleeding.

Sports in the Autumn: Indoor vs. Outdoor Training

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/17/2011 -- Now autumn is facing with us and this means the beginning of cold and dark period and that is the reason why many runners confront with a big dilemma: Indoor or outdoor training would be better for us? Contempt the disappointing weather conditions many have pleasure to go out and do training. But this is not for everyone: the less hard joggers can choose from a lot of wonderful indoor sports to stay fit during the cold season. Which are these and what it should be to esteem in the fall of outdoor training, tells you My JogStyle.

The simplest alternative of outdoor running training in cold or rainy days can be the treadmill in the gym, but if somebody has disapproval feelings while we have enough treadmill in our everyday life, can chose from other possibilities. There are fitness options such as weight training, aerobics or spinning and for the hardest cross training which can be the alternates of outdoor training. Plus "wellness": Nowadays in many studios you get the possibility to relax after training in a sauna – this is a perfect method to stay healthy and fight against chill.

For whom running is on the spot, but the battle for the best training device does not match, should try various other indoor sports. Swimming is ideal to bridge the cold season and maintain physical condition. It not only strains all the muscle groups, but also spares the joints.

Perfectly suited for everybody fighting against weight problems or looking for condition training. Ball sports such as soccer, tennis, badminton and squash are also recommended. In these days many strictly outdoor sport such as rock climbing, inline skating and skiing are also acquirable in halls. When autumn gives also glorious, golden days, benefit from! Those may be the last opportunities to do outdoor training and feel the nature under comfortable conditions.

Ambitious athletes willdo their training outside at any weather but the appropriate equipment is suggested. The right footwear is the most important equipment, because wet leaves can be very slippery and uneven surfaces can be easily overlooked. The motto is: Better to run a little slower, but have an eye on the ground. The best if you chose a well-known route for training and with this method you will be able to save your body and avoid potholes and other dangerous barriers. For a better grip on the ground, the running shoes must have a good profile, to keep of falls and running injuries. In darkness, you should select a route where the illumination is satisfying. At the same time it is necessary to ensure that others can see you. Lamps or reflectors on the jacket or vest aren't trendy, but can save lives. Special, breathable synthetic underwear, light cotton gloves and a hat are indispensable parts of our running accessories in cold weather.

Whether you choose outdoor or indoor sports - both options have advantages and disadvantages. In cold seasons, the combination of an outdoor training with an alternative indoor sport can be the most effective.

Fatty Tummy despite Sport? With the Right Energy Balance Decrease Successfully

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/04/2011 -- Often despite of the sporty activity gives small fatty sections on belly and hip. What is the reason for it? The right energy balance matters to reduce your own body weight successfully and permanently. The idea beyond is simple: people's energy comsumption is higher than its calorie consumption by food. But one will only succeed by regular activities and attention to a healthy and low-fat food.

It can be very frustrating if people do not become control on fatty tummy despite sport activities. They mostly settle in the belly, the hips or in case of women also in the bottom and the upper thighs. The specific fitness exercises and card trainings are very important, but they cannot determinate the successful weight loss. If people run regularly, the body during and after the training unity uses energy. It is important that the up used energy not to recover. If at the end of the day the burned energy is less than the taken ones, we are speaking about the negative energy balance. It is recommended to take care of the nutrition. A food plan with vegetables, fruits and whole grain products is significant, because the body must be supplied with all important nutrients.

The body is gaining weight, if the negative energy balance is not reached. To get an overview about our own energy balance, we need nutrient tables to get information about the food ingredients and the contained calories.
More Power and Motivation: My JogStyle Gives Tips Against the Autumn Blues

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/25/2011 -- It's autumn and for many people this is a time of depression and bad mood. The inner temptation seems already to have passed into hibernation. The good news: In the cold and dark winter months the joggers are allowed and absolutely should have pampered themselves. There are really only three magic words that finish the autumn blues: exercise, relaxation and (healthy) nutrition. My JogStyle explains how to.

To survive the autumn in as right as rain, the immune system must be kept in motion. Lack of light, cold temperatures, colds and many others challenge people's own body. When the season is changing from summer to autumn, it is more important than ever to supply the body with enough vitamine C and other nutrients. Fresh fruit and vegetables need to be on the menu - which strengthens the immune system and improves mood.

Even if autumn is not just encouraging me to do sports in the fresh air: jogging or walking every day outdoor at least half an hour, increases the inner well-being. To be highly motivated, a pocket fitness trainer is quite useful and makes fun, as the Jogstyle from Omron does. This practical tool measures distance, work-out time, number of steps taken, associated energy and calorie consumption during the training course or for everyday use. It is important to have minimum 3000 steps behind us every day: go outside, and even run a lap extra! For whom, outside is too cold or too dark, he can avoid the discomfort with a gym, swimming pool or with home coach.

Cold showers, saunas and relaxation baths are boon for soul and body. In autumn time the body needs extra care because, such cold air as lack of strain light damages skin and hair. For each, there is the perfect feel-good recipe for the autumn blues: bright and cheerful colors in clothing or a warm atmosphere at home, a visit of friends or a good book at night, cute hours on the sofa or a cosy walking with the dog. Exercise, fresh air and relax give no chance for the autumn blues.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

My JogStyle
Email: Click to Email
Web: http://www.myjogstyle.com

Yoga Running As a Sportive and Relaxing Run Trend for Body and Mind

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/09/2011 -- Barely another running style relaxes body and spirit during a sportive activity as Yoga Running. The new running trend promises a varied mix of running and yoga exercises. Not only everyday problems fall into oblivion, but feelings of happiness are boosted and inner perfection is eradiate. Whether in the woods in the harmonic nature or in the city at beautiful locations - the scenery is not important. Also at Yoga Running the activity monitor JogStyle of Omron is the ideal training tool.

Relax while jogging? Yes it's possible - thanks to the new trend sport Yoga Running. At this, classic yoga exercises are involved in the routine training. For performance-oriented athletes or fanatics of pace this quieter form of racing is certainly not the right method of training. But perhaps for integrating some rest now and then in the run program, Yoga Running is ideal. Especially for amateur runners and beginners, this form of casual sport is well suited. In addition to the desired relaxation, the power of concentration is the focal point.

An important part of the trend sport is - announced by the name - the built-in yoga exercises. "Yoga" is an Indian philosophical theory, which includes a series of mental and physical exercises: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Kriya, Meditation and Asceticism. This term can mean "union" or "integration" as well as "tightening" of the body to the soul. Numerous meditative exercises place an emphasis on mental focus; others are devoted especially to the physical exhausting positions. The roots of yoga philosophy are located in the Hinduism and in parts of the Buddhism.

Who indeed relaxes mind and body in everyday life, but doesn't want to abstain from sportive strengthening should try Yoga Running. Just look for classical yoga exercises on the Internet or in a specific adviser and adopt them in the training. A special running experience is guaranteed! In the meantime the JogStyle of Omron determined exactly how many calories are burned, how many steps are covered in what time and at what speed and can store these measured values for 7 days thanks to the memory function. The JogStyle is the ideal training tool for a convenient monitoring of activity.

"Urban Trail Running" - Conquer the City With the JogStyle

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/07/2011 -- In order to bring a bit of momentum into the regular training, ambitious runner should try the new Trend Sport "Urban Train Running". The inner city is going to be a great jogging path: stairs, bollards, benches, railings or uneven terrain represent no more obstacles, but are part of the training program. The imagination knows no boundaries. Urban Trail Running enhances concentration, endurance and coordination. To determine the personal mileage, the JogStyle of Omron is suitable. Covered distance, burned calories, speed and count of steps? The JogStyle knows the answers.

At the Urban Trail Running everything is allowed: slalom around the benches in the park or bollards in the city, sprints to the nearest street corner, jumps up on benches or shrubs, skipping up the stairs, leapfrog at railings. This really brings variety to the running program and can be very demanding even for short distances. Urban Trail Running is an ideal interval training and a great opportunity for those who don't have a wood outside their front door. This trend sport is perfect for all explorers, because during the training the whole city can be explored at the same time. Past historic buildings, impressive statues, across the marketplace, along the urban river or through the middle of the city - running through the metropolitan jungle can be created as desired.

Important for this training method is the right footwear. In addition, the athlete should pay attention to his feet and the ground conditions and overcome obstacles with caution to avoid falls. It says: Eyes opened during trail running! In order to evaluate during and after exercise his own mileage, the JogStyle of Omron Healthcare may be adequate. Who knows how many miles were covered with what speed while running through the city. This practical training tool determines exactly this data plus the count of steps, calorie- and energy consumption. So every runner can easily find out, how far the results of the Urban Trail Running and the results of the usual jogging differ. JogStyle keeps you running!

Important Phases of the Running Training: Warm up and Cool Down

Running is not just running. It is important to warm up and cool down adequately. This prevents injuries and keeps the body fit and healthy.

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/15/2011 -- Warm up, running, cool down, relax. That is how the optimal training program should look like. Unfortunately, most runners abandon the warm up as well as the cool down phase. Yet, it is very important to sufficiently prepare the body for the sportive strain and to gradually relax again after the training. This prevents injuries, enhances the regeneration and increases the performance capacity. My JogStyle explains what ambitioned runners should adhere to.

In the ideal case sporters "only" suffer from afflictions such as aching muscles and tensions after an exhausting roadwork. However, often already during the training unit problems such as pulled muscles or cramps occur. In the worst case this can lead to a sports injury and a longer training break. To prevent this, before sportive activities, the body should be sufficiently prepared for the upcoming strain. Scientists again and again discuss if a warm up is actually necessary. In case of endurance sports such as running the warm up should be taken seriously. The goal of warming up is to minimally increase the body temperature and to stimulate the circulation. This enhances the blood flow within the muscles, which in turn increases the contraction and stretching ability and thereby the protection against injuries. During the warm up phase the pulse should, however, stay below 120 bpm as the sporter, of course, should not outspend himself already.

The counterpart to the warm up is the so-called cool down. A training unit should never be terminated too abruptly. Smooth trotting or walking at the end brings the heart rate, circulation and body temperature back to a normal level. Afterwards relaxing and stretching the muscles is important for the body's regeneration and the prevention of injuries.

Thereby, of course, those muscle groups, that have been strained the most during the training, should be stretched. It is important that the body does not cool down too much. At best one should put on a warm jacket and trousers or exchange the sweaty sportswear for dry clothes. When it is cold outside, the cool down should take place in warmer rooms. To give the body a nice treat after an intensive training or a competition visiting the sauna, or taking a massage or a relaxing bath is highly recommendable.

My JogStyle Informs About Jogging Styles

Watch your feet! My JogStyle explains the different styles of jogging and how these impact performance and physical loading.

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2011 -- Who runs regularly or even trains for a marathon will sooner or later be confronted with various styles of jogging. The adequate style heavily depends on the runner's specific training goal. This does not only influence the effectively and speed but moreover directly affects the physical strain. My JogStyle gives information about different styles of running and how these impact the final performance.

Basically, it can be distinguished between three different running styles, which are defined by the positioning of one's feet during the roadwork: ball or forefoot running, heel running, and midfoot running. Sprinter, medium-distance runner and top sporter use the forefoot style, which is moreover regarded as the "natural" human style of running. Thereby the foot hits the ground within the area of the ball and pushes off again only after short or even totally without scrolling. The heel is moved upward toward the posterior. Due to its dynamic this style of jogging can be observed especially among world-class runners. Joggers having problems with the calves or the Achilles tendon should abandon this technique as it causes a high physical loading.

Here, heel running, probably the most popular and common style among hobby sporters as well as long-distance, and marathon runners, is much more indulgent. As the term already implies, the foot hits the ground with the heel. Thereby the foot turns slightly inwards and scrolls over the complete foot. This way of running stresses the bones much more and is moreover highly strength-sapping compared to forefoot running, however it protects the Achilles tendon. Most running shoes are designed for heel running and try to compensate the high loading with an integrated damping.

A compromise between forefoot and heel running is the midfoot style of running. As the whole sole is put down on the ground, this is perfectly suitable for long distances. It is more economic and indulgent for joints and tendons – for most people the perfect mix.

Who wants to change his style of running, should gradually train this adaptation to prevent injuries. Moreover, the individual positioning of the feet should be tested in a sports shop to find the adequate running shoe. For a healthy and improved way of jogging the correct footwear is most important.
My JogStyle Recommends: Try Something New - Run Backwards

RetroRunning - My JogStyle recommends new trend sport

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/20/2011 -- A very new experience, an unforgettable feeling, and some variation in your monotone training? Interested? Then try to run backwards! Sounds weird, but in fact it is highly effective for body and soul. My JogStyle explains, why running backwards is worthwhile and where this crazy trend sport comes from.

Who thinks "RetroRunning" is a new-fangled running alternative, is completely wrong. At the beginning of the 19th century this alternative form of running already has been mentioned for the first time and has developed into a popular sport worldwide especially over the last 10 years. By now there are even European and world championships. The Frenchman Christian Grolle is the first pioneer known by name. A marathon in reverse gear? This was first mastered by the Austrian Johannes Gosch in 2003, which simultaneously earned him an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The German athlete Roland Wegner now promotes this new sport already since 2001 under the term "RetroRunning" with his same-named book and website. Meanwhile the trend has spread into several countries such as Italy, Belgium, France, Austria, USA and Mexico.

Also the running blog "My JogStyle" is impressed by this sportive form of art. What might look strange on the street actually is a good and healthy training alternative. Running backwards is much less stressful for the back and the joints than normal jogging, as other muscles are strained and the upper body gets trained more effectively.

"RetroRunning" stimulates the right hemisphere, enhances the senses and improves the concentration as well as the sense of balance. Of course, it needs some training: First you should choose an even route without potholes or irregularities to prevent croppers. Self-evidently, you should start slowly and look over the right and left shoulder alternately.

Little by little everyone has to find the ideal posture for himself. At best, you run as a pair, so one can run forward and keep an eye on the route.

Running backwards enhances the body's fitness and increases the calorie consumption compared to common jogging. So, who would like to have some variation and a better posture, should just try it!
Running in Older Age With the JogStyle of OMRON

Every person, who is physically active in older age, is increasing its life expectancy, strengthens his body, advances his mind and finds alternation in the everyday routine. Who thinks endurance sport is only for young people, is absolutely wrong. Worthy for every age: running is a healthy leisure activity, which keeps you fit and makes you happy. With the activity monitor JogStyle of OMRON, the runner has now the opportunity, to track all relevant performance data and take control of his individual training.

Mannheim, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/15/2011 -- Who wants to get in the endurance sports such as running should visit the doctor to get a physical check-up and the medical "OK" before. Also in older age, it might be helpful, to be professionally coached by a personal trainer or fitness studio, a running club or an association. For sure, a person at the age of 50, 60 or above doesn't have the same vitality nor efficiency as a person in their twenties. However, with a correct nutrition, a healthy way of life and a controlled preparation, even a marathon finish should become reality.

Regular training and sufficient regeneration times are further important factors to remain fit. In higher ages, minimum time and maximum output shouldn't have priority. The pulse is lower, the respiration more onerous, the muscles, tendons and joints are much more prone to injuries. Therefore the intensity of runners' training have to be adapted to the age.

Motivating factors like pretty landscapes, fresh air or distance variations will enrich the jogger's mental wellbeing and increase the power of concentration in all stages of life.

Who hasn't been sportive for a long period and would like to begin in a later period of life, should begin slowly and increase gradually. Discipline and patience are in demand, while condition and achievement develop much more slowly than for younger people. Wrong ambitions and excessive training are absolutely misguiding. In order to control the running distance, -speed and –time as well as energy and calorie consumption, the JogStyle of OMRON is convenient for every age. The handy device, which reliably collects all values and convinces by high usablity. Due to the 7-days-and 7-units- memory function, each runner can perfectly analyse his individual efficiency.
Calorie Traps in Summer – Conscious Well-being With My JogStyle

Mean calorie traps in summer - My JogStyle explains how to avoid them and still enjoy the warm days of the year.

Mannheim, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/07/2011 -- Summer – finally! The sun is beaming, temperatures rise and people are streaming outside into the fresh air. Most love to spend their spare time in beer gardens, at barbecues, in the ice cream shop, the favorite cafe or at the lake having a picnic. But watch out: Plenty of calorie traps are luring here, ruining your beach figure. My JogStyle gives tips on what to consider to enjoy all the treatments of summer without feeling guilty.

There are so many tempting refreshments for the warm days of the year: ice cream, iced coffee, frappucino, ice tea of cold soft drinks as Cola or Fanta. Who, however, wants to stay in shape or even lose some pounds during summer, should be a bit more careful. Especially milk and cream ice contain plenty of sugar and fat, while fruit ice cream and sorbets are made mainly of water and thus have fewer calories. Also yoghurt and buttermilk ice cream are more recommendable.

The popular iced coffee is mostly made of coffee, cream, ice and chocolate streusel – plus a delicious piece of cake – this soon rounds up to billions of calories! More suitable are ice cubes in coffee and some fresh fruits in between. The customary ice tea also contains plenty of sugar, which should not benefit the hips that much. Thereby such a summer drink can be made that easily: brew some tea, use sweetener instead of sugar and put everything into the fridge. Who likes to have some Cola, Fanta or Sprite on warm days, should better take the light versions as those mostly are nearly calorie-free. Water of course is best for the body – for the taste some juice can be added. Having a barbecue with friends and family is always something special. A delicious bratwurst, potato or pasta salad with mayonnaise, salads with cocktail dressing and later some potato chips. That is not necessary! A nice turkey breast, low fat steak, grilled champignons, zucchini, sweet corn or potatoes, fresh salads with oil and vinegar and a bit of cream cheese with bread – delicious and healthy.

Also for the cozy picnic fresh fruits and vegetables as well as a self-made sandwich can replace the sweet cake or the savory burger. Thus, who wants to stay in shape during summer or even lose some weight, does not have to abandon all the delicacies, but just eat a bit more consciously.

Jogging in "summer Smog" – Myjogstyle Informs About Running at Increased Ozone Levels

Increased ozone levels in summer - what this means for joggers and exercising outdoors.

Mannheim, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/07/2011 -- Especially at warm days in summer high ozone levels prevail in big cities as well as in the countryside.

This is particularly harmful to children and people with respiratory diseases. The hazardous ground-near ozone evolves through a combination of heat, exhaust fumes, and emissions from industry and incinerators. The longer the period of fine weather lasts, the more increases the ozone level. Even healthy people feel the raised ozone concentration through physical complaints such as fatigue and headache.

When nitrous gases and hydrocarbons meet the UV radiation of the sun, the harmful ground-near ozone is generated. Thus, the concentration increases even more in summer. Not only the heavily travelled big cities but also more rural areas are affected. Ozone can be transported several kilometers depending on the weather conditions. While in the agglomeration areas the ozone generation comes to a standstill at night and the level decreases, it is not reduced in the countryside and thus remains almost constant there.

Risk groups should preferably stay in closed rooms at days with high ozone levels, also exercising outdoors should then be abandoned. Ozone gets through the air into the respiratory passages and where it can irritate the mucosae and cause cough and breathlessness.

Who wants to absolve his training even at hot days, should at best exercse inside on a treadmill, where the ozone level is mostly much lower. Besides, the training should not be performed during the noon and afternoon hours as then the concentration in the air reaches its highest level. This is especially important in cities, less in rural areas. Breaks during jogging, a slower tempo and shorter distances protect the body when training in summer smog. Even trained sporters might have to take it slow to take care of their health in the warm season of the year. Who suffers from asthma, cardiovascular diseases or chronic bronchitis, should abandon the training during warm summer days.

Still, many people ignore the risks related to jogging outside in summer and especially at very warm days. Even though regular sportive activity is certainly beneficial for body and soul, physical overload and the ignorance of the body's needs and the own limits can be highly harmful to ones health. Thus, it is important to really carefully test ones own performance capacity and to allow for breaks or lower the training workload if necessary.
