Edgecam improves productivity and lowers cost at Presspahn. Introduction of Edgecam at Presspahn Has Improved Cnc Milling, Cnc Turning and Cnc EDM Machining

Bradford, West Yorkshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/19/2012 -- In April 2012 Presspahn http://www.presspahn.com made Edgecam our primary system for both the CAD and CAM of solid part manufacturing.

Initially all parts are now drawn using Edgecam Part Modeller which has been specifically designed for the quick and simple construction or modification of solid models. Edgecam Part Modeller has also added the ability to import and manipulate files from most CAD systems, including SolidWorks®, Solid Edge®, Unigraphics NX® and STEP files. Support for IGES, DXF and Parasolid is also included.

These features have allowed Presspahn to increase the speed at which customer requirements can be validated and presented to our internal manufacturing team.

Once the solid model is approved the information is then passed to the solid machinist component where integrity of design is maintained because the solid model isimported without translation. Then using automatic feature recognition to interrogate the solid model and quickly identify machine able features Presspahn can efficiently turn the model in to machine instructions and have the part being manufactured on either one of our CNC milling machines, our CNC lathe with bar feed or our CNC EDM.

Cogemica Hi-Temperature Gasket Material (up to 1000°C).

Bradford, West Yorkshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/19/2012 -- Another product in Presspahns http://www.presspahn.com wide stock of materials is Cogmica Hi-Temp, a high temperature gasket material which can be purchased as either raw sheets or supplied as stamped gaskets ready for use in your application. Cogemica Hi Temp has been developed for the production of high temperature resistant gaskets up to 1000°C (1832°F). It does not contain any asbestos and is inert to most chemical substances.

Applications: Cogemica Hi-Temp ensures the sealing in applications where temperatures up to 1000°C can be reached. Gaskets made of Hi-temp are used in automobile exhaust manifolds, gas turbines, gas and oil burners, heat exchangers and in other flange connections. It is also used as a filler for spiral wound gaskets and as a material for camprofile seals.

Composition: Cogemica Hi-temp is a material containing a high percentage of phlogopite mica paper impregnated with a silicone binder. Mica, an aluminosilicate of mineral origin, has a lamellar and non-fibrous structure representing a satisfactory alternate to asbestos. This material gives Hi-Temp its thermal characteristics – weight loss at 800°C less than 5% and its chemical resistance to solvents, acids, bases and mineral oils.

Availability: Hi-temp 710 in sheets 1000 x 1200mm and thicknesses from 0.1 to 3mm.

SRBP P1/P3 – Synthetic resin bonded paper, cost effective electrical insulator widely used in the switchgear and building trades (more commonly known as Paxolin)

SRBF F1/F2 – Synthetic resin bonded fabric, higher strength electrical insulator used when mechanical properties are of high importance. The material is also good for more complex machining.

Nomex – Excellent electrical insulator that also supports a wide temperature range, it can be used in switchgear, transformers and consumer electronics.

Lexan Polycarbonate – High strength material that has a wide variety of uses such as Electrical, glazing, safety covers, sign and display. Polycarbonate is usually supplied clear and can also be formed to provide 3D objects.

Formex – Polyprolene insulation used mainly in electronics, it offers exceptional electrical resistance with the benefit of UL approval and flame retardant properties. Formex can be efficiently cut in to complex shapes and creases well.

Elmtherm – Very high temperature insulation used when the best reduction in thermal loss is required. Mainly used in refractories or by companies manufacturing ovens but also has uses in building applications where heat loss need to be minimised.

Formex GK-10BK, Formex GK-17BK, Formex GK-30BK, Formex GK-40BK, Formex GK-62BK, Formex 94BK, Formex 125BK.

This development was made to address renewable energy & solar applications for Formex materials. There will be additional Formex applications for lighting systems, outdoor equipment housings etc. (revised UL yellow cards available (File no: E121855).

Outdoor suitability (UL): A material that is considered suitable for outdoor use has gone through testing in accordance with UL 746C, the Standard for Safety of Polymeric Materials use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations, of ultraviolet (UV) light exposure for 720 hours of twin-enclosed carbon or 1,000 hours of xenon-arc weatherometer conditioning, and/or water exposure or immersion for the seven days at 70 degrees C. The material is tested before and after exposure to these conditions for flammability, mechanical impact and mechanical strength. UL definition of (f1) : Suitable for outdoor use with respect to exposure to ultraviolet light, water exposure and immersion in accordance with UL 746C. The (f1) footnote indicates that the material has met both UV and water exposure or immersion requirements as called out in UL 746C.
