Zaber Technologies Spotlights the T-LA - Linear Actuator Series

This article describes Zaber's linear actuator, and it gives a brief history on the evolution of the linear actuator, focusing on how Zaber introduced the world's first precision linear actuator based on a direct drive stepper motor with all communications and control electronics integrated in one small package.

Richmond, BC -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/27/2008 -- Zaber is proud to spotlight its T-LA - Linear Actuator Series (http://www.zaber.com/products/product_group.php?group=T-LA&name=Miniature_Linear_Actuator&linkid=sb). The T-LA series of computer controlled linear actuators has been Zaber's flagship product, the first linear actuator we developed and still one of our most popular motion control devices.

Overview of T-LA (linear actuator) series:

•	0.1 um resolution
•	Built in controllers
•	Daisy-chain multiple units to a single serial or USB port
•	Drop in replacement for many standard micrometer heads on manual translation stages
•	CE certified and RoHS compliant

See our TSB Linear Slides page for more information on compatible translation stages.

The History of the Zaber linear actuator:

Back in 1997, when Zaber was founded, precision linear actuators were primarily based on DC motors with gearboxes and encoders requiring complicated motion control cards, bulky controllers, and separate driver amplifiers and power supplies. Precision motion control was expensive, difficult to set up, and cumbersome to use. Recognizing the demand for an inexpensive, integrated solution, Zaber Technologies introduced the world's first precision linear actuator based on a direct drive stepper motor with all communications and control electronics integrated in one small package. Other novel features little seen at the time included the ability to daisy-chain multiple units and to manually control the actuator via a built-in control knob while monitoring the position on a connected computer.

About Zaber:
Since 1997, Zaber has added over 120 products to its family of precision motion control and laboratory automation devices including linear actuators, linear slides, motorized x-y-z stages, rotation stages, motorized mirror mounts, and micro-stepping motor controllers. More information on Zaber is available on Zaber's website.

Zaber Offers New Motorized Dovetail Slide

Zaber Technologies has added a new model to its T-LLS series of motorized dovetail slides for motion control applications. The new addition is Zaber’s longest travel dovetail slide to date with a positioning range of 915mm.

Richmond, BC -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/19/2007 -- Zaber Technologies (http://www.zaber.com) is proud to announce the release of the T-LLS915, a 915mm travel version of its popular T-LLS series of computer controlled motorized dovetail slides. The new model is Zaber's longest travel motorized dovetail slide. The T-LLS series now includes linear slides with travels from 105mm up to 915mm. Zaber's standard motorized dovetail slides offer 0.16 um resolution at speeds up to 6mm/s. Custom leadscrew configurations are possible achieving higher speeds at the cost of positioning resolution.

Integrated motors and controllers allow Zaber's motorized dovetail slides to be daisy chained with other Zaber products and controlled from a single USB or RS232 serial port on any computer. Demo control software for a variety of programming environments is available for free download from the Zaber website.

Motorized dovetail slides can also be controlled manually via a control knob. A computer is not required for manual operation, however, if connected to a computer, dovetail slide position can be tracked and displayed during a manual move.

Zaber Introduces Programmable Joystick for Motion Control

The T-JOY3 programmable joystick offers a flexible and intuitive interface for Zaber’s extensive line of motion control and automation products.

Richmond, BC, Canada -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/30/2007 -- Zaber Technologies (http://www.zaber.com) is proud to release its T-JOY3 programmable joystick which adds new functionality to the company's extensive line of motion control products. This easy to use, programmable joystick can control three independent axes of motion when daisy-chained with any of Zaber's motorized devices.

As a stand-alone controller, the T-JOY3 joystick is ideal for motorized x-y or x-y-z stage applications. The intuitive interface includes five buttons pre-programmed with useful functions such as "home all axes", "save current position", and "move to saved position". Buttons can easily be reprogrammed to any of a variety of useful functions.

For more sophisticated applications, a desktop or laptop PC may be used in conjunction with the joystick. Joystick buttons may be programmed to trigger an action by the computer, such as the execution of a more complex instruction sequence to connected motion control devices. The entire daisy-chain (3 Zaber motion control products plus the joystick) can be controlled through a single USB or RS232 port.

The intuitive interface of the T-JOY3 joystick, combined with the flexibility of connecting any of Zaber's motorized linear actuators, linear slides, x-y-z stages, rotation stages, or stepper motor controllers, makes motion control and automation easier than ever.

Please see related links below for more information on the T-JOY3 programmable joystick.
