College will be recognized as a 2011 American Red Cross Hero on August 12 for their contribution to disaster relief efforts in Idaho

Boise, ID -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/16/2011 -- Stevens-Henager College announced today that it will be recognized as a 2011 American Red Cross Hero on Friday, August 12. The recognition will coincide with the college's $800 donation to the American Red Cross. The donated funds were raised by Stevens-Henager College students and staff and will help fund disaster relief efforts.

Stevens-Henager College students and staff raised the money by selling t-shirts and wristbands at the Boise campus. Additionally, Stevens-Henager College hosted a "Hero Appreciation Day" in June to raise awareness about the fundraiser. At "Hero Appreciation Day," students and other attendees nominated their own heroes and recorded video messages about their nominees, which were played at the event. The Stevens-Henager College donation was among the top five highest donations for the Red Cross Hero campaign.

College partners with American Red Cross and A Thrifty Mom to host community event on June 17

Nampa, ID -- (SBWIRE) --06/13/2011 -- Stevens-Henager College will host a community event called "Save Lives, Save Money" at its Nampa satellite campus on Friday, June 17. Community members are invited to attend the event to give blood, donate to disaster relief efforts, and even take a class on coupon cutting to save money. Stevens-Henager College will partner with the American Red Cross and A Thrifty Mom for the event.

"Save Lives, Save Money" will also be collecting canned and non-perishable food items for the Idaho Food Bank. A Thrifty Mom will host a "couponing" class, offering tips on how to maximize coupon cutting to save money.
