G'Five to Launch Tablet PC Under Rs 10K This Month

The new G'Five device will be a 7 inch Android tablet aimed at the mass market. Given the fact that Beetel already has a tablet in this range we expect G'Five to at least match Beetel Magiq's specs.

Noida, U.P. -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/21/2011 -- Chinese handset maker G'Five plans to launch an Android tablet with a 7 inch touchscreen priced below Rs 10,000. The tablet will be released in India by the end of this month, a person familiar with the development told The Mobile Indian.

The company is also seeking to expand its retail network to sell this tablet to a wider audience. "G'Five is actively seeking more channel partners across the country, not just in metro cities but in tier II and tier III cities as well. Besides channel sales, G'Five is also in the process of tying up with retail operators especially the LFRs (large format retail stores) that have chain of stores across the country," the company said in a statement.

The spokesperson also said that "G'Five has ambitious plans for launching other consumer electronic products this year including netbooks, laptops, music boxes, digital photo frames etc. Soon, G'Five will launch its new and exciting range of 3G enabled Android and Windows based tablet computing devices in India priced below Rs 10,000, shattering the price barrier and taking the market by storm once again."

The company had earlier planned for a launch in the month of June but its plans got delayed. While the specifications of the tablet are not yet known, we do know that it will have a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen.

And given the fact that Beetel has a tablet in this price range, G'Five is expected to launch a product that has similar specs. Beetel Magiq has a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor, 3G, SIM slot, Android 2.2, WiFi and 16 GB expandable memory.

While in June there were no major tablet launches even in more expensive categories, the market is now bustling with tablets in the Rs 10,000 range with Reliance 3G tab, Beetel Magiq, iBall Slide, MSI Enjoy 7, HCL Me, Viewsonic Windpad 7, Mercury 7 inch tablet and a few lesser known brands like Zinglife.

Given the competition in this price range it seems G'Five will have a tough time slotting its tablet in terms of pricing and specifications.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: 0120 - 4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Top Five Budget Music-phones for Aug, Sept

Here are five feature phones that have good music capabilities apart from the regular features.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/20/2011 -- If you are looking for a decent mobile phone with good music capability, you really don't need to spend a fortune. There are several budget phones available in India that not only offer basic phone functionality, but for music lovers they pack quite a punch. They are, in fact, capable of replacing your portable music player altogether.

Here are the top five phones we think offer the best mix of music, functionality and price:

Micromax M2
Micromax M2 is a music centric dual SIM mobile phone. It has a 2 inch display that is capable of reproducing vibrant images and has a high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, which is great for viewing videos. There is also a 2 megapixel camera that does a pretty good job as well.

The phone's sound output is SRS certified and the box carries a certificate to prove this. The phone speaks for its music quality with clear audio and volume. The sound output is balanced with clean bass (low frequency), mid (medium frequency) and hi (high frequency) sounds. This device also supports the most popular audio formats like MP3 and WMA.

M2 comes with a big headset along with a stereo handsfree kit. The headphone is good in terms of quality and reproduces sounds well.

Bluetooth and GPRS are there for wireless connectivity. A big drawback of the device is that there is no provision for expanding memory, though the phone comes with 2 GB inbuilt, it might not be sufficient if you like carrying your entire music collection with you. The device is priced at Rs 3,000. You can check our detailed review of this phone here.

Sony Ericsson W8
Sony Ericsson's Walkman series was quite popular when it first appeared in 2005, but sometime down the line Sony Ericsson abandoned the series because its feature phones were in general not doing well. Now with its Android series doing well, the company has re-introduced the series again and this time with Android operating system.

We cannot doubt Sony's ability to make good music devices, but the phone has to be looked at in a holistic way, and this phone delivers on all counts. The device is similar to Xperia X10 Mini, and comes with a 3.0 inch touchscreen, and to maximise space utilisation Sony Ericsson has used a corner-based user interface on top of Android.

It packs a good music player, headset and technologies like TrackID which identify songs being played on FM, which you can listen to through a Bluetooth headset.

Other features are standard for Android phones and include 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, Google suite, expandable memory up to 32 GB etc. The phone is priced at Rs 10,000 and makes for a great buy for music lovers.

The only drawback of the Sony Ericsson W8 is that it employs an aging Android 2.1. However, with other Mini devices being upgraded to Android 2.3, this one is also likely to get the update soon. You can also check out the special 100 per cent money back offer from RCom if you are planning to buy this phone.

Nokia X2
Nokia X series phones are multimedia devices. Depending on your budget you can choose from the range and all the devices have good music capabilities. However, we will focus on the X2. It comes in a bar design and is based on Nokia's S40 operating system.

The phone supports Ovi Music store, which means you have access to a huge music library. In terms of hardware, you can't fault Nokia, so right from the build quality of the handset to the handsfree kit, everything is tip top. The sound output from the stereo speakers of the phone is also good.

The Nokia X2 is light weight at 82 grams and the bar design means it is very pocketable. The phone supports most popular music formats, which means that you won't have to worry about the type of music you download.

The phone is very feature rich for its price, with a 5 megapixel camera and LED flash. It supports Edge and Bluetooth networks; and its memory can be expanded to 16 GB. At Rs 4,400 the X2 is good value for money, apart from being a good music player.

Samsung Hero 3213
This phone is one of the cheapest 3G devices in the country. And the reason it makes it to this list is because it also has good music capabilities that include FM with music recording, stereo speakers, support for most popular music formats and a decent pair of ear phones.

The X2 is extremely feature rich, though design-wise it looks very mundane, but it houses a front facing camera for video calling, 3G for fast connectivity, a TV out port and memory expandable to 8 GB.

Don't buy this phone for its rear camera as it is only of VGA quality, but other than that the device is well worth the Rs 3,400 it costs.

Lava M30
This is another dual SIM music phone. It is an SRS WoW HD certified device, and this means that the surround sound quality is really good. The music is powered by Yamaha, which is one of the best-known names in the professional audio industry.

Apart from that you get a dual headset socket so that you and your partner can listen to music together without annoying each other. You can control music both through the headsets and using the dedicated music keys on the phone.

The display is also good as it utilises IPS (in plane switching) technology which makes the screen easy to view in bright light and from wide viewing angles.

Other features of the phone include a 2.2 inch screen, a 2 megapixel camera, expandable memory up to 8 GB, GPRS, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The phone is priced at Rs 3,000 which makes it a good value for money device.

Verdict
These phones are not in the list in any order. All of them are very different phones and depending on the users' preference and budget all of them offer good value for money and an enjoyable music experience. If you have money you should go for the Sony Ericsson W8 as it has all the features of an Android phone and in addition it has superior music capabilities.

If you are only looking for a music phone, and basic phone functions like calling and messaging, you can choose between Micromax M2 and Lava M30.

Samsung and Nokia might be preferable for people who want a complete phone with good music, but within their budget.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: 0120 - 4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

The D530 is Coolpad's first CDMA-only Android Eclair handset being introduced in the country. The phone will offer CDMA high speed at 3.1 Mbps, and a 3.5 inch touchscreen. The phone is priced at Rs 7999 with Reliance Communications promising 100 per cent value back with discounted tariff over the next 24 months.

Top Five Tablets of Aug-Sept

Considering the large screen real-estate, features and availability, here is a list of top tablets to consider while choosing the best one for yourself.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/13/2011 -- In last decade, two new computing segments emerged — netbooks and tablets. However, the craze for the later has been surprising. Today over 20 different tablets are available or announced at global level and more than ten different brands have introduced their tablets in India. From all those tablets that have been officially launched and already available through the retail as well as online channels, we have selected five best tablets to suit all possible needs considering price — features ratio.

The criteria for choosing these best five tablets includes larger display, good combination of hardware with software, presence of basic ready-to-use applications, 3G network support, Adobe Flash Player support, WiFi, Bluetooth and longer battery life.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 (Galaxy Tab 10.1)

Samsung's top of the line Galaxy Tab 750 is so far the best tablet with a good combination of hardware and compelling software.

Galaxy Tab 750 comes with 10.1 inch TFT LCD touchscreen display that supports 1280x800 pixel resolution and 149 pixels per inch. Since the tablet doesn't have any capacitive buttons on the bezel, it supports four-way rotation.

Powered with dual-core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC Processor, the Galaxy Tab 750 comes with Android 3.x Honeycomb operating system with Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface laid on top of it with Live Panels, which provides a magazine-like widget view for immediate access to weather, social updates, email, news, photo gallery and more, all of which can be customized on the home screen.

At the back of the tablet, a 3 megapixel camera is decent yet unexplainably below par as the company uses 5 megapixel camera even in mid-range handsets. Users need to wait for the cross platform instant-messaging service ChatON.

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy Tab 750 is almost at par with other top of the line 10.1 inch display bearing tablets. It gains few brownie points with Bluetooth 3.0, 3G and dual-band WiFi support. Samsung has used its proprietary 30-pin connector port for charging and data transfer needs. The tablet comes with 8.6-mm slim form factor and offers 9 hours of battery life runtime.

Promising full 1080p HD playback, the tablet promises multimedia fun with the twin stereo speakers. Over all, the Galaxy Tab 750 models have elegant form factor with top of the line hardware and growing software.

The Galaxy Tab 750 is available in India for Rs 33,999. The heavy cost could've been justified if the HDMI adaptor and the USB adaptor had come bundled with the tablet.

Apple iPad 2

Owing to the popularity of the Apple products, the iPad 2 is undoubtedly the most popular tablet amongst the consumers. The Apple iPad 2 tablet comes with a nice 9.7 inch LED-backlit multi-touch display built using IPS technology supports 1024x768 pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch. Packed with a dual-core 1 Ghz Apple A5 processor, the Apple iPad 2 comes with decent enough hardware power to run the iOS operating system smoothly. Apple has added two cameras — one at back and one in the front which allows video chat over FaceTime.

The Apple iPad 2 has two major advantages over rest of the tablets — several ready to use apps and clear video chat facility with FaceTime. Apple App Store has myriad applications ranging from Education, Productivity, Social Networking, eBooks and thousands of others developed specifically for the iPad 2. With iOS 5, which is set to come in the near future, this tablet will get iMessage app that will allow instant messaging over WiFi and 3G with other iOS devices.

However, even Apple iPad has Achilles Heel such as lack of ports and closed sync features (single-computer sync). One should seriously access these shortcomings before buying the iPad 2. Currently, the Apple iPad 2 (16GB, 32GB and 64GB) is available in India in two versions WiFi and WiFi+3G. Check this link to know the latest official pricing of the different models.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is meant for features-rich tablet lovers. Sporting the 10.1 inch LED Backlight touchscreen display which is scratch resistant, the tablet supports WXGA 1280x800 pixel resolution. Under the 13mm hood, the tablet packs a dual core 1 Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor coupled with 1 GB memory.

The Transformer runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb out of the box with ASUS Waveshare user interface layered on top of it. In terms of hardware and software, Transfomer is at par with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 750.

ASUS has paid attention to the short comings of the first generation Apple iPad and hence added several features to the Transformer tablet. For instance, the physical connectivity is powered with micro USB 2.0 port and micro HDMI ports that serve to be quite useful for connecting the tablet to the computer and larger displays respectively.

Transformer is yet another Android 3.x Honeycomb tablet sans capacitive buttons. At the back lies a 5 megapixel camera which is good enough to click images but lacks LED flash. In the front is a 2 megapixel camera meant for self-portrait imaging and video chat. Apart from the 16 GB internal storage, the tablet can accommodate up to 16 GB or 32 GB through a micro SD card depending upon the version. The tablet also comes with a built-in card reader.

Watching movies and videos is fun on this tablet since it supports SRS Surround sound with twin stereo speaker. Voice chat and Voice Search can be used with the built-in high quality microphone. Transformer stands out with the bundled keyboard with touchpad dock which boosts up the battery life to 16 hours for the tablet. The dock comes with its own 2 cell battery pack to power the tablet.

When it comes to price-features comparison, the ASUS Transformer takes the cake by offering almost all possible features at current street price of Rs 29,500.

Acer Iconia Tab A500

So far, the Iconia Tab A500 is the only Android tablet that stands close to the ASUS Transformer with similar features — 10.1 inch TFT LCD display with 1280x800 pixel resolution support, dual-core 1 Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB memory and 16 GB onboard storage.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 comes with Android 3.x Honeycomb operating system with Acer UI layered on top of it. Along comes a set of custom set of Acer applications and improvements for better experience on the tablet. At the back lies a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash for better imaging and in the front rests a 2 megapixel camera meant for video chat. Unfortunately, one needs to buy a Wireless Keyboard for the Acer tablet separately.

For physical connectivity, the tablet features micro HDMI, micro USB and also a full sized USB port. Acer has recently introduced the new Iconia Tab A501 model which comes with 3G Network support as well and is priced at Rs 32,990. While the Iconia Tab A500 WiFi version is available for as low as Rs 26, 900 online.

Acer falls behind when it comes to keyboard dock and also additional battery life. Acer has also introduced a Windows 7 running tablet Iconia W500 series which comes with AMD Fusion processor.

Motorola XOOM

First Android 3.0 Honeycomb based tablet — Motorola XOOM comes with a premium finishing and the sleep/wake button at the back next to the camera. Motorola offers XOOM in WiFi Only and WiFi+3G models for India with 32 GB on-board storage. One can always expand the storage by adding up to 32 GB Micro SDHC card to the tablet.

Motorola XOOM comes with 10.1 inch display supporting WXGA 1280x800 pixel resolution. Made form anodized aluminum and soft finish, the XOOM does end up being bit heavy with 730 grams weight. It would be fair to say that XOOM offers the pure Android 3.1 Honeycomb experience to the users. Under the anodized aluminum chassis rests a dual-core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor coupled with 1 GB memory to power the operating system.

The company so far has no plans to add any custom interface on it. Using XOOM one can record 720p HD videos with the 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED Flash at the back. Front facing 2 megapixel camera is meant for clicking self portraits and video chat. Motorola has added micro-USB and micro-HDMI for physical connectivity.

Motorola XOOM offers impressive 10 hours of battery life. Currently, the WiFi version of Motorola XOOM tablet is available for Rs 29,999 online. However, there is a good Rs 6,000 difference between a WiFi only model and WiFi+3G model.

Wrap up

Out of these five, the best tablet would be the one which would suit your requirements and also the budget despite of the fact that almost all tablets cost above Rs 28,000. For those looking for a tablet that offers consistent ease of use and loads of applications to enjoy — Apple iPad 2 takes the cake. When it comes to design, polished software performance and light weight body, Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 wins over all.

Nokia 600, 700 and 701 in October

The new Nokia 600 is said to be among the loudest smartphones from Nokia, and Nokia 701 is the brightest; while the 700 has some fantastic features.

Noida, Delhi -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/09/2011 -- Nokia will launch three new smartphones — Nokia 600, 700 and 701 — running Symbian Belle by September-end in India.

A person familiar with the development said to The Mobile Indian, "Nokia has still not finalised the exact date of launch but is planning to launch Nokia 600, 700 and 701 running on Symbian Belle around Diwali in India. It is still working on the pricing of the devices."

Nokia 600

The new Nokia 600 is said to be among the loudest smartphones from Nokia, rated at 106 phon for loudness. Since it comes with an FM transmitter and an FM receiver, you don't need earphones to listen to your favourite radio station.

The Nokia 600 weighs a mere 100 grams while sporting a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen with 640 x 320 pixel display resolution. It has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, which is capable of taking 720p video and high quality still images.

Nokia 600 also has a Near Field Communication chip that can be used with emerging NFC apps and accessories such as Nokia Play 360 speakers. NFC-enabled versions of Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja games will come pre-loaded on the device.

NFC is a short range wireless communication technology which allows communication between two devices that are at a distance of up to 20 cm apart. Thus, NFC enabled devices can be used for making mobile payments, for mobile ticketing, and as keys for accessing cars, homes or hotel rooms.

Nokia 600 will be available in pink, lime, white and black colours, and will cost around Rs 11,800.

Nokia 700

Weighing less than 100 grams, the Nokia 700 has a 3.2 inch ClearBack Amoled display with Gorilla Glass technology to prevent damage. This Symbian Belle running smartphone supports pentaband radio and 3G networks. It is powered by a 1 GHz processor and features Bluetooth, WiFi, FM radio, a digital compass and GPS sensor.

With 2 GB of onboard memory, this handset uses a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. Like Nokia 600, the 700 too comes with Near Field Communication built-in. The phone has a speaker at the bottom. Nokia 700 will be available in grey, silver, white, coral red, peacock blue and purple colours. Its body moreover is said to be made entirely of recycled materials.

It is to be priced at around Rs 17,200.

Nokia 701

The 701 has a 3.5 inch IPS LCD display with ClearBack technology, wrapped in Corning Gorilla Glass. Nokia claims the 701 handset to be its brightest smartphone.

This handset comes with a new, fast graphics co-processor which will have four times the graphics memory of previous Symbian handsets. This new graphics chip will be coupled with a 1 GHz processor to give the best possible performance with Symbian Belle.

At the back is an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and the front facing VGA camera supports video calling. By default the phone comes with 8 GB of onboard memory, but it can take up to 32 GB via a memory card.

Similar to the 700, this model features a Near Field Communication chip and will have NFC-enabled versions of Angry Birds and Asphalt 5 games. Nokia 701 promises up to 8.8 hours of talk time over 3G networks and 17 hours over GSM. Evidently a high-end handset, Nokia 701 will come in steel dark, amethyst violet and white colours. It is expected to cost approximately Rs 19,000.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Sony Announces Two Android Tablets

The new tablets from Sony are expected to be available for sale from the year end.

Noida, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/07/2011 -- As reported by The Mobile Indian in July, Sony has launched two tablets which will be available in the market by the end of this year.

Sony has renamed both the devices and now the larger of them, S1, will be known as Sony Tablet S and the smaller foldable tablet will be known as Sony Tablet P.

Sony S is a 9.4 inch device with a curved top, much like a folded magazine, which makes it easy to handle for long hours. Tablet P is a dual screen clamshell device aimed particularly at people looking for both mobility and usability. Both tablets use Nvidia Tegra 2 processors and run a customised version of Android Honeycomb operating system.

Both devices run on Android — Android 3.1 on Sony Tablet S; while Sony Tablet P is equipped with Android 3.2. Both also feature the PlayStation suite, which will enable them to download and run PS certified content. There is not much difference between the two tablets as far as functionality and hardware go.

"These devices truly represent the best of everything Sony has to offer," said Mike Lucas, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' Networked Technology and Services Division. "From hardware to software and services, Sony Tablet devices embody all our innovations rolled into one."

The tablets P and S will come with integrated support for Sony's Qriocity service that allows streaming of multimedia content to various Sony devices like Bravia, PlayStation etc. Along with that, both tablets will also be Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified, which will help users play multimedia content from the tablet on a DLNA capable display such as a TV. Tablet S will be compatible with a Sony remote control that will work on a number of Sony devices as well.

The Sony Tablet S device is available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions and will be sold at Sony Stores including online and at other authorised retailers nationwide from this year end for about $500 or approximately Rs 23,000 and $600 or Rs 27,500.

Whereas the Sony Tablet P is still awaiting a final launch date and price tag, it is expected that both the tablets will go on sale by the end of this year.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Mobile Tariffs to Rise Further

Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Airtel, said recently that mobile tariffs have to rise further. Does this signal a forthcoming price hike, or will operators offset rising costs some other way?

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/07/2011 -- Indian mobile users have been very lucky to have enjoyed very low tariffs for many years, but we ran out of that luck when most mobile operators recently increased tariffs by as much as 20 per cent. And for those who thought there would be no more hikes there is bad news.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Airtel, said to PTI a few days ago, "Rates in India have to rise significantly in order to offset the lower revenue from rural markets, where users typically make fewer phone calls than in cities and towns."

Airtel, Vodafone, RCom, Idea, and Tata Teleservices have all increased tariffs by 20 per cent with new call rates being 1.2 paise per second up from 1 paisa. STD rates have also gone up in some cases to as much as 1.5 paise per second. Some operators like new entrant Uninor have started charging for calls made to customer care as well, which they were not doing earlier despite the older players doing it for quite some time.

Some operators, like BSNL, had planned to reduce the validity of recharge vouchers. Though that hasn't happened so far, other operators might implement this idea as it is a more discreet way of hiking tariffs.

Most operators, we fear, will choose the indirect means of hiking prices, such as by reducing the validity of a recharge. This way people will need to spend more, thereby increasing revenue per user, something that BSNL had planned.

Operators can also take some existing discounts off the market. This way, consumers might not really understand that the tariff has been hiked, and will not switch to other operators with different deals.

The other possibility is that there may not be a hike, but for that to happen the government has to notify the new exit guidelines for telecom operators at the earliest. Most new operators that came into business in 2008 have not been able to turn profitable, and there have been demands to allow mergers and acquisitions in the industry so that some operators can walk away by selling their business to the bigger, well-established players.

The Government of India has announced that it is working on changing policy to allow that. If that happens, there will be consolidation and reduced competition especially in the low margin rural market as most new players have been targeting rural areas since urban areas have already been saturated.

With consolidation, per-user costs will come down drastically as the installed infrastructure will be used to fuller capacity, thereby giving operators a chance to maintain the current pricing levels.

Operators are also exploring the intra-circle roaming route to expand 3G network into areas where they don't have 3G spectrum. As the current user base of 3G is low, renting out some capacity to rival operators would lead to better utilisation of spectrum as well as installed capacity, and thus reduce overall cost.

3G is a high revenue business and will offset some of the cost burden on the 2G business, and give operators enough margin to focus on adding more services to the bouquet instead of burdening users by increasing the price of existing services.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: 0120 - 4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Viewsonic ViewPad 7x in India

The Android Honeycomb 3.2 tablet from Viewsonic will arrive in India next month with a competitive price tag.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/01/2011 -- Viewsonic unveiled its first Honeycomb tablet, the ViewPad 7x, during IFA Berlin. The tablet will be launched in India this September. Ajay Sharma, the country manager of Viewsonic India confirmed to The Mobile Indian that the ViewPad 7x will be launched at a competitive price in the Indian market next month.

The 7 inch tablet comes preinstalled with the latest version of Android Honeycomb update version 3.2. Although technical specifications for the ViewPad 7x are unavailable, we do know that it will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor. The display will be 7 inch multi touch capacitive with native resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. One of the best things about the 7x is that it utilizes a 10 point touch sensitive technology that makes it more intuitive and exciting for the user. The device will also feature front and rear cameras and 8 GB of internal memory along with a 32 GB expandable memory Micro SD slot.

The device also has a custom user interface called ViewScene 3D. We're told this interface is somewhat similar to the Windows flip feature but the tiles are stacked in a circular fashion. The interface is fully customizable and users can tweak or modify it as per their needs. One of the most useful features of the ViewPad 7x is its pre-installed GPS tuner software that allows maps to be saved locally on the device so that it can provide navigation even without a data connection.

The ViewPad 7x, as mentioned above, is scheduled for launch in India next month, most probably around the same time as it will be launched in the international market. The Viewsonic spokesperson did not comment on the price of the device but looking at the international price, which is Euro 350, it is expected to cost around Rs 30,000 or less.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Mercury Launches Powerful 7 Inch Tablet for Rs 9,499

The 7 inch touchscreen tablet comes with Android 2.3 operating system, 1.2 GHz processor, 3G option, 32 GB extendable memory, and WiFi.

Noida, Delhi -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/31/2011 -- Mercury, a player in computer peripherals, has launched its first tablet in India for just Rs 9,499. The tablet, called mTab, is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features a 1.2 GHz 3-core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB inbuilt storage with an expandable memory of up to 32 GB.

It is very similar to recently launched Beetel Magiq tablet.

In terms of specification though Mercury tablet beats the Magiq hands down with better processor (1GHz in Magiq Vs 1.2 GHz in mTab), latest Android version (Android 2.2 in Beetel Vs Android 2.3 of mTab), and its capacitive touchscreen in contrast to the resistive in Magiq.

In terms of specification, mTab is even better than the Reliance 3G Tab. However, all will depend on the actual performance.

On the connectivity front, the Mercury mTab has support for both 3G and WiFi network. It will also offer customised 3G packages as a bundled add-on with the tablet for free internet surfing. However, the details will be announced in the first week of September when the tablet will hit the retail stores.

There is a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video conferencing and creating videos. The company claims that the mTab can play videos continuously for four hours and supports all photo and music formats. It measures 19.3cm X 11.7cm X 1.4cm, has a 7 inch WVGA TFT LCD capacitive touch display. The tablet weighs 400 grams.

Mercury mTab comes with a 4000 mAh battery which is better than most other tablets in this segment. It also comes with a

HDMI output for connecting it to a HD TV.

Commenting on the launch, Sushmita Das, country manager, India, Kobian (Mercury's parent company) said, "We are not in the league to announce the cheapest tablet in the country, we believe in providing a strong quality product backed with features and applications that are required by today's user. We promise an experience for all with a high performance display, ease of internet surfing, playing a huge range of games and it's not heavy on your pocket."

The tablet carries 1 year warranty and will be available in stores starting September.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

First Windows Phone 7.5 Hits Japan

Officially called Windows Phone 7.5, Mango includes the integrated People Hub where users can check their updates on leading social networks, and they don't need to launch applications separately.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/29/2011 -- The first Windows Phone Mango handset, called IS12T, is being launched in Japan by Fujitsu. The phone will be made available in Japan through KDDI (a Japanese telecom operator) and Okinawa Cellular Telephone. The 59 mm thin phone comes in three colours and has a massive 32 GB memory, stunning 13.2 megapixel camera, and is water and dust resistant.

Mango is officially called Windows Phone 7.5 and includes the integrated People Hub in which users can check updates on leading social networks, without having to launch applications separately. Another attraction is Office Hub, where users can read their MS Office documents created on laptops or personal computers.

A statement from Fujitsu says, "Windows Phone IS12T is the first smartphone in Japan to run Windows Phone 7.5. Designed to be simple and easy-to-use, the smartphone is equipped with essential features, including fully integrated social media capabilities."

The launch of the Fujitsu phone at this time is slightly surprising since Microsoft started accepting applications for Mango phones just two days ago. Even Nokia, which would be focused on the Windows Phone 7.5 operating system, is yet to announce a handset based on the OS. There is no announcement from Microsoft about when current Windows Phone users will be able to upgrade to Mango.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Sony Ericsson Smartphones to Come Preloaded With McAfee

Existing Xperia Mini Pro users may get the software soon though Sony Ericsson's PC companion software.

Noida, Delhi -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/22/2011 -- McAfee mobile security software will come preinstalled with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro and forthcoming Xperia Pro smartphones.

With McAfee's Mobile Security software, users can keep track of their device with the alarm and location tracking feature; prevent misuse with remote lock; wipe feature and preserve important data with remote back-up / restore feature even from a lost or misplaced phone.

At the same time, McAfee Mobile Security software will also safeguard the smartphone against the risk of malware that might originate by internet enabled services such as email, instant messaging and file downloads.

"It is far too easy to leave a mobile device in a cab or at the airport, which can mean lost contacts, photos, financial information and other important content. With malware targeting mobile devices growing quarter-on-quarter, there is also the risk of these devices being hacked, infected or phished. The availability of this technology is an important milestone in protecting both the phone itself and the data that resides on the device," said Todd Gebhart, co-president, McAfee.

Todd further added: "Privacy of the user has been specially taken care of with the application as it gives full flexibility to the users to control what they want to show to other people or users of the application. And no one other than the desired recipient can access the event."

Sony Ericsson will not levy any charges on the handsets which would come preloaded with the McAfee mobile security software.

There is no information on as to when and how the present Xperia Mini Pro users would get the security software upgrade, but it is expected that the software will be available for download for existing users as well though Sony Ericsson's PC companion software.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Reliance 3G Tab vs Beetel Magiq

We compare two of the cheapest 3G, 7 inch Android tablets coming from two telecom biggies Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/22/2011 -- Close at the heels of Reliance Communications launching its Android Tablet, Bharti Airtel's subsidiary Beetel has also launched a tablet with similar though fewer features at Rs 3,000 less than the Reliance device. Is the cheaper one really a better bargain? Let's find out. Rankings are based on a scale of 10 for each feature.

Round One: Operating System

RCom 3G Tab is based on Android 2.3; whereas Beetel Magiq is based on the older Android 2.2. The Reliance device is a re-branded ZTE tablet so we expect the operating system to be upgraded regularly; while Beetel has chosen its own design and there is no upgrade option available. So, in this round RCom wins hands down.

Score: Beetel 7, RCom 10

Round Two: Processor

Reliance 3G Tab has an 800 MHz processor; while the Beetel Magiq has a more powerful 1 GHz processor. However, Reliance has an advanced version of Android which optimises processor use and therefore performance is affected less by the lower configuration. There is no denying that the performance of Beetel Magic will be better.

Score: Beetel 10, RCom 8

Round Three: Screen

Both the tablets are evenly matched in terms of screen resolution and size with 7 inch WVGA screens. However, the big difference lies in the fact that while Reliance 3G Tab has a capacitive screen, Magiq makes do with a resistive display.

The difference in touch technology is a big one as the touchscreen is where all the interaction takes place. Capacitive technology offers a much better interface with multi touch and pinch to zoom capabilities, and it also lasts longer with low fault rates. Though Beetel has put in a track pad and additional buttons for receiving and rejecting calls on Magiq, that fails to compensate for the difference between the technologies.

Score: Beetel 7, RCom 10

Round Four: Battery

The Reliance device uses a 3400 mAh battery; while Beetel has a 2200 mAh battery. Almost a third bigger, the longer battery life is a big advantage of the 3G Tab.

Score: Beetel 7, RCom 10

Round Five: Other features

Beetel offers better additional features, which include a stand at the back to watch videos, an internal memory of 8 GB versus none in the Reliance Tab (it does have some internal memory but that is just for the OS's components). Beetel Magiq has a 2 megapixel camera at both the front and the rear, while 3G Tab only has a VGA camera in the front.

Reliance 3G Tab wins when we compare its 32 GB expandable memory to the 16 GB of the Beetel device, but then Beetel has better internal memory and therefore optimises space as most people in this range do not invest much money on buying a 32 GB card anyway.

Score: Beetel 9, RCom 6

Round Six: Price

This is straight forward: Reliance is more expensive at Rs 13,000;

while Beetel Magiq costs Rs 10,000.

The difference gets amplified as Magiq's price is in MRP, which means there will be further discounts on this price (which is expected to finally settle at Rs 9,000). On the other hand, Reliance has given the actual sale price so there will be no further discounts.

Score: Beetel 10, RCom 5

Round Seven: Bundled offer

This one is tricky — while Beetel offers 2 GB 3G data free for two months, Reliance is offering 2 GB data at a discounted rate of Rs 598 for 12 months (Rs 749 is the normal rate). So RCom users will save Rs 151 each month for 12 months, altogether saving Rs 1812. Beetel users, meanwhile, will save Rs 1498 in just two months. We have not taken the 12 month advanced rental plan into consideration as committing to a long plan is risky, and moreover 3G prices are expected to fall.

The big drawback with Reliance is that you get a SIM—locked device, which is a big turn off for many users (breaking the lock voids the warranty of the device). This reason alone means a lot of deduction in points.

Score: Beetel 9, RCom 5

Verdict

All the other features of both the tablets are evenly matched. The score is that Beetel Magiq has managed 59 points out of the 70 on offer, while Reliance 3G Tab gets 54.

Reliance 3G Tab is certainly the better of the two devices purely on technical terms, but we look at the price as the first point of consideration and that's what sails the Beetel Magiq through in this contest. One more advantage is that Bharti has a wider network compared to Reliance. Moreover, Beetel will sell through various channels while Reliance is offering its Tab only at Reliance World outlets. So here too Beetel manages to win.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

The tablet, to be called 'Magiq', has a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen with Android 2.2 Froyo OS, and is powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

Apple May Soon Add Projector to iPhone

The idea of an iPhone with a projector was first discussed by Apple in 2009.

Noida, Delhi -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/18/2011 -- Apple is reportedly looking at the possibility of adding projectors into its iPhones and iPads. According to a blog, Patently Apple, the company has filed for a patent to integrate Pico like projectors in its iOS devices. The level of detail reported in the patent filing is surprising, as Apple looks to have sufficiently advanced on the project, including advanced gestures that would work, or be recognised, in dark rooms.

The company says the PC, tablet or a smartphone screen may be too small to share work or presentations among workmates, and this patent would help them solve that problem.

The summary says, "Two or more projected displays, each from a separate electronic device, may be displayed proximate or adjacent to one another to produce the shared projected workspace. Images displayed within the shared workspace may be transferred and/or copied to another projected display within the shared workspace."

The idea of projector in an iPhone was first discussed by Apple in 2009. Apple, in the patent file, stated that it is more concerned about the actual world uses of the projector in the iPhone or iPad so the pico projector goes on to become an important part of the entire ecosystem created by it.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

The Acer Iconia Smart weighs only 185 grams and has 8 GB storage along with 512 MB RAM.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/16/2011 -- The Acer Iconia Smart, which runs on Android Gingerbread, is expected to hit the market in September. It has a comparatively bigger display and comes with Qualcomm manufactured 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

Its display has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and is 4.8 inch in size. Other notable additions include 8 megapixel back facing camera and 2 megapixel front facing camera.

At the time when Acer Iconia Smart was announced, the specs held more weight but now many devices are coming with dual core processors. However, this device from Acer is large and has a single core processor only.

Acer was delaying this device for a long time and it appears the company has managed to get rid of its shyness over it. There are no clear cut answers why the device was delayed; according to some reports it was probably due to earthquake in Japan.

The Acer Iconia Smart weighs only 185 grams and has 8 GB storage along with 512 MB RAM. It will be first headed towards North America and there is no word about its India launch as yet.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Samsung to Launch Wave III Next Month

Samsung Wave III is likely to support improved graphics and multimedia, and will run the latest version of Bada operating system.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) --08/15/2011 -- Samsung is going to strengthen its Bada platform in India with the launch of Wave III next month. While no other detail was shared about the phone, it is likely to feature the latest version of the Bada OS.

Talking to 'The Mobile Indian', Asim Warsi, director of marketing, mobile business, Samsung, said, "Our Wave series has been a huge success for us here in India. We sell as many Wave handsets as any of the Galaxy handsets in the country. We are strengthening the portfolio by launching the Wave III in a month. You will see a lot of action on the Bada operating system front."

Wave III is likely to support improved graphics and multimedia, as well as the latest version of Bada operating system. Further details are elusive, but rumours suggest a dual core processor and bigger, better screen.

Wave II, the new phone's predecessor, was launched in December 2010, and the first upgrade released recently is indicative of how fast the mobile market is moving. Wave II features a 1 GHz processor, 3G, WiFi, a 3.7 inch screen, and a 5 megapixel camera. Thus it is but natural that Wave III will have better features than these.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com

Apple iOS 5 to Feature Speech-to-text Function

The latest beta build of iOS 5 seeded to developers has a speech to text transcriber. A similar feature already exists in Google Android devices and requires an active data connection to run.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/10/2011 -- Apple had released the fifth beta build of its iOS 5.0 software update for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. Apple centric blog 9to5Mac was tipped with a screenshot and details about a new speech to text feature being tested on iOS 5.

This feature is said to be supported by Nuance, a USA-based software solutions provider. Nuance already offers Dragon Dictation 2.0 and Dragon Search apps for Apple iPhone.

Sunny Rao, managing director of Nuance India and South East Asia, told 'The Mobile Indian', "Nuance offers a number of Indian voices and related solutions for the text to speech functions. We have the Nuance Mobile Developer Program that offers a wider platform for mobile developers to use our platforms to develop applications. Only after the products are official will we be at liberty to talk more about them."

Usually people love to use smartphones with full keyboards. However, not everyone would be comfortable using the onscreen keyboard on multi-touch devices. With the new iOS 5.0 beta 5, iOS platform developers noticed a mic icon next to the spacebar key on the onscreen keyboard. Using that mic icon, one can speak and the text box will come up with the spoken words transcribed in it.

The newly released Apple Mac OS X Lion operating system also supports Nuance powered speech synthesis features.

The speech to text feature also known as Speech Synthesis aids a user in several aspects, for instance, those with big fingers can use it for sending texts or drafting email.

We don't know whether this Speech Synthesis feature will be native or will require a data connection or some other support. Also, there's no clarity if this feature is limited just to text messages or will allow a user to navigate the device's menus using speech. If enabled, Apple will certainly win brownie points over other operating systems.

Google already offers a speech-to-text engine in Android OS with multiple language support in it. The only requirement for using the speech to text feature in Android is an active data connection.

Apple is expected to release the iOS 5.0 update for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad some time later this month.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Rahul Gupta
The Mobile Indian
Telephone: +91-120-4077800
Email: Click to Email Rahul Gupta
Web: http://www.themobileindian.com
