The new driving setting developed by BMW is a new feature that allows the driver to take full control of minimizing fuel use.

Drivers have the ability to save up to 20% of their fuel use by utilizing the ECO PRO setting. The ECO PRO is activated when the driver flips the switch on the BMW drive select. When the feature is initiated, the technology selects modified engine settings, optimizes the electric load, and puts the ECO PRO display screen on for the driver.

As the driver proceeds in the ECO PRO setting, the screen shows drivers how much they are saving. The deeper in the blue, the more fuel is being saved. Miles that are saved from driving in the ECO PRO mode are calculated and also displayed on the screen for the driver. The gauge stores the miles saved even when the car is turned off. When owners refuel, the miles saved meter will be reset.

The system will also show text displays of errors the drivers are doing to waste fuel so drivers become more aware of their inefficient behavior. Errors such as long braking, accelerating quickly, and going fast are just a few of the messages.
