Pathfinder, LLC Celebrates 40 Years of Project Management Solutions

Cherry Hill, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/09/2015 -- On August 15, 2015 Pathfinder officially completed its 40th year in business. Pathfinder was established in 1975, by Lou and Helen Cabano, as a totally independent project management consulting and training firm specializing in project planning and execution in numerous industry sectors across the globe. Services cover all aspects of project planning and execution, from strategic planning to start-up, from concept to production. Pathfinder clients are assured business success through innovative project management solutions facilitated by a seasoned staff. Pathfinder's experience and expertise can generate a capital cost and schedule certainty on new or retrofit, small to mega-scale projects, as well as similar outcomes on routine outages to large, complex turnaround projects. Pathfinder has provided support to over 4,100 projects representing over $625B worth of capital investment.

Lou and Helen and their original expert staff of core professionals boot-strapped Pathfinder from an initial domestic based operation to a world-wide enterprise during the Company's first 10 years and continued to expand its activities and client base over the next 20 years. Leadership of the Company transferred from Lou and Helen to their son Steve Cabano in 2005, under whom it has continued to grow, diversify and prosper. Being subject to the fluctuations of the industrial capital investment workload cycles, to which Pathfinder's support business depends, has been challenging at times, but diversification and belt-tightening has allowed the Company to sustain itself during these reduced workload periods.

Both Lou and Steve Cabano steadfastly attribute the Company's success and longevity to the cadre of outstanding, experienced and dedicated technical and administrative staff they have been able to attract and maintain over the years.

In celebration of this commendable achievement Pathfinder hosted current and previous employees for an afternoon picnic in the parking lot of its Cherry Hill, NJ headquarters. Photos include speeches by Steve, Lou and Helen and a visit from the Cherry Hill Fire Department.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Christine McIntyre
Telephone: 856-424-7100
Email: Click to Email Christine McIntyre
Web: http://www.pathfinderinc.com

Cost Containment Through Effective Project Management

Historically, the mining industry has been highly focused on cost containment associated with the production and operations of ongoing mining activities. Today, as opportunities abound, proper attention is also required to manage costs and delivery time on the significant investment associated with capital projects. However, the cost to capture these assets has increased dramatically. According to Bloomberg, mining companies will invest $244 billion on capital project expansion from now through 2015. The successful execution of these expansion projects is critical to the survival and profitability of the Owner/Operating companies involved. With the current decline in commodity prices and the significant increase in cost of production, companies are recognizing the importance of efficiently executing projects and eliminating unnecessary spending.

These challenges have put a strain on the capabilities and talents of the Owner company's internal groups responsible for planning, executing and managing the capital project portfolio. To successfully accomplish this challenge, Owner organizations must continue to improve their capital project delivery and decision processes. The application of Project Management "Best Practices" is an integral aspect of this improvement initiative.

This paper/presentation will demonstrate many of the proven Project Management tools and techniques that, when applied appropriately, have driven the proper venture decisions and addressed the runaway cost issues plaguing the mining capital project execution environment.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Christine McIntyre
Telephone: 856-424-7100
Email: Click to Email Christine McIntyre
Web: http://www.pathfinderinc.com

PATHFINDER Presenting at the November Calgary Pmi-sac Conference

PATHFINDER is on a panel to discuss Mega Projects in Alberta

Calgary, Canada -- (ReleaseWire) --11/11/2011 -- The Alberta Energy Industry has planned a number of capital-intensive energy projects. Together, those working in the industry are facing a wide range of challenges. Some of these have been experienced before and some are relatively new – in all cases innovative approaches and ideas will be needed to address them.

The Mega Projects EPC Panel will bring together experts to share their perspective about how to do business in a large project environment.

The agenda will cover a range of topics, including an overview of foundational concepts, such as what differentiates mega projects from other large projects, and tools and techniques used during the main phases of the life cycle of mega projects. Expert panel members will also consider key success factors and challenges related to people and teams on these large projects, risks and uncertainty, and external issues. The panel will also consider organizational issues and emergent topics such as construction productivity, labour availability, front end loading, uncontrollable risks, convertible lump sum contracting and predictability. Finally, the panel will look to the future of projects and share their perspective on upcoming opportunities and challenges associated with mega projects and the organizations seeking to deliver them successfully.

Pathfinder assists owner organizations in creating the optimum environment for effective project execution by strategically positioning them to maximize their competitive advantage and success potential. Pathfinder has had "hands-on" involvement in over 3,100 projects with a full-time tenured staff of project management professionals and a comprehensive toolkit of project management methodologies, practices and techniques.

October 24-28, 2011 - Lonestar College-University Center at Montgomery - The Woodlands, TX

Cherry Hill, NJ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/08/2011 -- Pathfinder, LLC and the Construction Industry Institute (CII) are proud to offer this 5-day, three-module professional development continuing education session for the project management community. This program is a resource to help organizations plan the development of new construction project managers (those who have three to five years of experience). The Professional Development Continuum plan (Project Manager Level) illustrates how CII publications, education modules, online courses, and instructor-led courses taught by CII Registered Education Providers address competency areas across the project life cycle. These project management training sessions will focus on the following areas: project management orientation, project controls overview, contract administration and project management communication.

The following 3 courses are offered individually or as a comprehensive program in the Bundled Option.

Project Management Orientation (1 day)
This module will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the owner and contractor's project manager. Attendees will experience the perspective of the worldwide project planning and execution environment and how project management must react to changes in this ever changing industry. Attendees will also have the opportunity to better understand the function of the project manager and how creating an environment where others can work efficiently is the primary role.

Project Controls Overview (2 days)
This module will provide attendees with an overview of the overall project controls process and how this integrates with the project delivery process. Project control planning aspects such as scope definition, cost management, and schedule management will be broken down into topics such as cost estimating, planning, cost control, and schedule management. Supporting these topics will be discussions on scope control and change management. Aspects such as productivity, performance measurement, and earned value will also be addressed.

This module delivers the overall contracting process from contract strategy selection through the development of contract documents and contract administration. Lump sum, reimbursable, unit prices and incentive contract compensation approaches will be addressed, as well as contractor pre-screening, bid review, and negotiations. Attendees can expect to discuss worldwide engineering and construction activity and the evolving contractor community and resource availability.

The Bundled Option
Combine all 3 of the above mentioned courses for a comprehensive 5-day, three-module professional development program.
