Hyundai Commercial Vehicles are a Hit at the Johannesburg International Automotive Show

Hyundai Commercial Vehicles have showcased their automotive talents at the Johannesburg Auto Show and have highlighted the fact that large Hyundai Dealerships such as Group 1 Hyundai are ready to expand the companies’ commercial business.

Cape Town, Northern Cape -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/31/2011 -- Hyundai Commercial Vehicles, a sub-division of Hyundai Automotive South Africa that promotes the Hyundai H1 Panel Van and Hyundai H100, made history when it had its first separate local indoor display at the recent Johannesburg International Motor Show.

While Hyundai Commercials' operations in South Africa are on a much smaller scale, its market penetration in the segment for light commercial and medium commercial vehicles is steadily growing, with the same emphasis on quality, functionality and refinement of drivetrains that is evident on Hyundai's passenger vehicle side, said Wade Griffin, director of Hyundai Commercials, at the opening of the display.

"To improve the visibility of Hyundai's commercial vehicle operations in South Africa, we are exploring the possibility of opening stand-alone dealerships where our range – comprising our popular H1 Panel Van and H100 Bakkie and the rugged HD 65 and HD 72 trucks for the 3 and 4 ton markets – can be displayed and sold on their own," said Griffin to the motoring journalists gathered at the opening. He added that the massive scale of Hyundai's commercial vehicle production in Korea is a "wonderful source to grow the local commercial operations at Hyundai Automotive South Africa from".

Hyundai SA's new addition to its commercial range – the H1 Multicab – was displayed at the stand and will be launched in the first quarter of 2012. "We know we will have a winner in the Multicab, for it is a vehicle that combines the comfort of a five or six-seater with the slightly diminished cargo carrying capacity of the Panel Van," said Griffin. He also indicated that future plans include the introduction of two heavier weight trucks to match the offerings of Hyundai's competitors.

An important aspect of Hyundai South Africa's successful growth is the quality of service that the company delivers, also after the sale of a vehicle to its customers. Hyundai Commercials has a dealer network of 38 outlets, including Group 1 Hyundai in Midrand (http://www.group1-hyundai.co.za/), with a service network of 43 with representation in all nine provinces as well as in surrounding Southern African Sates and cities such as Gaborone in Botswana and Windhoek in Namibia. This ensures outstanding after sales service that keeps a clients business running at all times.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Justin Atkins
Online Sales Manager
WSI Web Marketing
Telephone: 0(21) 9134382
Email: Click to Email Justin Atkins
Web: http://www.wsiwebmarketing.co.za

Group 1 Nissan Becomes Preferred Dealer in Cape Town Taxi Industry

Cape Town, Northern Cape -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/27/2011 -- A deal, the first of its kind in South Africa, was brokered and subsequently blessed in a ceremony at one of the taxi ranks within the Philippi township between Group1 Nissan (http://www.group1-nissan.co.za/) and the Kiki-Murray Organisation.

Two Nissan Grand Livinas were delivered to two members of the local taxi association as part of a "stokvel"-type arrangement which has allowed for the 7-seater vehicles to become part of an otherwise run-down, and often un-roadworthy, fleet, often referred to as 'Amapelas'.

Most taxi owners are unable to obtain bank loans in order to purchase their own newer cars, which, in turn means that they will opt for cheaper cash purchases. By opting into the traditional stokvel, these owner-drivers will be allowed to maximise their earning potential due to the 7-seater Nissan Livinas (http://www.group1-nissan.co.za/nissan-livina.aspx) over the typical 5-seater car whilst also being much safer and economical to run.

The taxis are generally operated within the Philippi area, acting as a feeder service to the main taxi and bus routes to Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Bellville. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the Amapelas aren't generally seen on main roads, they are often overlooked by the relevant traffic and safety authorities.

David Phokeng, co-owner of Blackbeard Trading, who acts as facilitator for this programme is aiming at extending this scheme to the Southern- and Eastern Cape as well as the Free State in the very near future, stating that this has been a major cog in the wheel of change towards safer public transport.

Blackbeard Trading co-owner, Herman Kemp, delightedly states, "This is the first such deal within the country. We started structuring it four years ago and are proud that all our hard work has finally come to fruition. We look forward to what the future holds for this kind of project throughout South Africa and hope that Group 1 Nissan Kuilsriver will be able to move forward with us".

Group1 Nissan (Kuilsriver) is proud to be associated with the initiative and as preferred dealer to the Kiki-Murray Organisation. "We are looking forward to being part of the future rollout of plans to empower taxi drivers throughout the country", says Dealer Principal, Lance St. Clair.
