The CEA suggests that on average, consumers plan to spend $768 on Christmas gifts this year, with $243 going towards electronic gifts.

If the CEA study is correct, manufacturers offering tablets priced at under $243 will most likely benefit this Christmas. But according to research Gartner Inc, Apple will dominate the Christmas sales of tablet computers with their iPad 2, which is priced well above the $243 at $499 for the 16GB model. Global tablet sales are predicted to more than triple this year and likely to reach just under 64 million units alone according to Gartner.
