Nutritious Breakfast for Children

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/17/2012 -- Home made granola is delicious and the smell of fresh granola out of the oven wafts is positively appetizing and super homely. A nutritious breakfast for children would include foods from at least three of the five food groups. The first food group is fresh whole fruit. Fruits can be sliced and added to a healthy breakfast cereal. It's quite a delicious way to eat fruit too and children are more likely to eat fruit this way than on its own. You could also mix this with a sugar free bio yogurt. The key is to not sweeten this, as once the child's palate recognizes the sweet taste; they tend to crave more of that. Keep sugars natural, avoid products with added sugar and don't add sugar to their meals.

Vegetables make the second group of foods; you could disguise these into an omelet. Mushrooms, asparagus and green peppers are good options. Vegetables are harder to incorporate in meals during breakfast especially on week days so you can makes this over the week end. An omelet is a tasty treat for all the family. Use olive oil when cooking and make healthy cereals by avoiding cheese and using fresh herbs like chive for flavor.

The third group of foods are the mighty grains, Cereals for breakfast are perhaps the most obvious and preferred choice for most parents. Whole grains, dry cereal, bagels, English muffins, whole meal bread, flour tortillas and rice are some of the foods recommended. A break fact cereal for kids should be as natural as possible. Make sure you read the sugar content and select nutritious and whole wheat based breakfast cereals. Wheat biscuits with milk, and wheat flakes, oats and whole grains are ideal for a healthy nutritious start to the day.

So the next group of foods to consider is the milk group. Whether you choose low fat or fat free milk, yogurt or cheese, choose wisely. If your child is lactose intolerant, choose lactose-free products that still have the calcium and other nutrients needed.

So finally the last groups of foods are meat and beans. Lean meat, peanut butter and beans, lentils and pulse are very nutritious and provide a string foundation for children during the early years of their life. Pulses and lentils can be made into tasty soups.

When traveling and out and about keep healthy snacks with you like granola bars or muesli bars. This will develop the habit and is a much better substitute that candy, chocolate and sugar filled confectionery that offer no nutritional value.

Of course a treat is allowed now and then, but maintaining good habits from an early age helps prevent other heath issues later and provides a good start for your child.

Make your breakfast exciting, after all you start your day with this meal so why not make it wholesome and tasty for yourself.

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- Make your breakfast exciting, after all you start your day with this meal so why not make it wholesome and tasty for yourself.
Now that's a treat and a half.

So what's the most popular homemade healthy snack or cereals these days, well it appears homemade Granola is something a lot of people are making at home. These are simply a mixture of rolled oats, nuts and seeds that are mixed with oil or butter and sweetened with honey and maple syrup and toasted until they are golden brown. You can then experiment and add in dried and mixed fruits, berries and other grains and create your own muesli cereals and granola mix. Besides being a breakfast food you can use this tasty snack for when you go hiking, camping, or backpacking because it is lightweight, high in calories, and easy to store. This is one of the reasons why granola is popular in the bar form. It's almost like a tasty biscuit but much healthier.

Do bear in mind through it's definitely not for those on weight loss programme. However if you eat in moderation then it should do just fine.

A Healthy Breakfast for Your Child

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/10/2012 -- Everyone looks forward to breakfast and for both adults and children it is an important meal for the day. The best breakfast cereals should be provide slow energy release rather than a sugar rush.

The old saying goes "breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and supper like a pauper." Breakfast is an important meal of the day for both adults and children alike.

Good breakfast cereals should contain low nutritional and wholesome ingredients. Many big brands are now aware of this. Although many children and adult breakfast cereals are loaded with sugar and often the healthy impression the box gives does not quite reflect within the contents. Salt and sugar are present in most cereals that crowd the supermarket shelves, and it's important to read the nutritional information carefully.

Whole goodness is found in wholesome ingredients like whole grain. Coloured and artificial flavours should be avoided. A good healthy cereal must be low in sugar and low in salt. Whole grains are rich in vitamins and nutrients like iron. Try and find a cereal that is fortified with vitamins that growing children need but also contains ingredients that already naturally provide this. Bran, wheat and oats are all good for young growing children; many opt for gluten free cereals as well.

The healthy cereals are good beauty foods that contain whole grains, which is great if you are trying to lose weight and need a lot of energy. Cereals that contain bran which is the fibre that covers wholegrain are more fibrous. Sometimes though they can be difficult to digest and so not always suitable for children. Raisins are almost found in every cereal, these do add to the sugar content of the cereal.

For children though you can add in chopped fruits to make it tastier or experiment with home flavours like crushed strawberries and apples.

Once children develop the habit of eating healthy cereals it will be for lifetime. Cooked cereals like oatmeal as well as barley also offer slow release energy and can be great for the winter when you need a more warming breakfast. You can flavour these with nuts like walnuts or hazelnuts to add texture and crunch.

Always read the entire list of ingredients and anything that contains hydrogenated fats, avoid completely. Although most cereals now do not use these ingredients you do get the odd one that does.

Remarks
Over the past decade (breakfast cereal manufacturers have reduced salt levels in their products, and have embraced the need for clearer nutritional labelling by including guideline daily amounts (GDAs) on their packaging. New cereals are formulated be healthier, and the trend is towards sugar and gluten free cereals.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Ria Pattni
Press Release Contact
Believe Cereals UK
Telephone: 448453301880
Email: Click to Email Ria Pattni
Web: http://www.believecereals.com/

What Is The Perfect Muesli

Central London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/28/2011 -- Where did the word muesli come from, good question! Breakfast cereals are now part of our everyday life but where did the breakfast muesli actually come from.

Muesli was introduced by a Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Bennerfor his patients, where a diet packed with fruits and vegetables was essential for therapy. This was inspired by something he ate in the beautiful Swiss Alps, during a hike and this then over time evolved into the muesli we all love and cherish today.

So breakfast for many, and especially for women constitutes of the Muesli cereal with either some milk or for the healthier, a spoonful of yogurt. However what makes your healthy muesli perfect that is the question. Over time many have their own little concoction and habits, whether it's mixing in chopped fruits or adding more superfoods and grains.

Many swear the perfect muesli should contain nuts and the lovely almonds that taste so scrumptious while there are others who love the grains and the bran and oat flakes. As for the raisins, there is a bit of a divide. Those who like their breakfast cereal with raisins and though that can't stand them! Saying that most well known brands always have the raisin in the mix, as they are considered essential healthy breakfast cereal ingredients as well as they add to the sweetness.

So according what makes the perfect mix, really a good cereal would provide different textures and a variety of taste. The crunch, the grains and the soft bits all serving to make a delicious mouthful of scrumptious breakfast muesli. It should be eat to eat and the taste should not get too boring either. It must have morning appeal and not repel the senses at the thought of chewing through super healthy farm food every morning. As many very healthy breakfast cereals don't take into account the time it takes to plough through the scores of nuts and chewy oats. At the end of the day unless you are a real health fanatic, taste is important and having breakfast should be a pleasure after all you break your fast after 10 hours of not eating and it has to be inviting.

However now comes in a new type of cereal, one with a function and not just health function but a beauty function, a cereal for beauty, for skin hair and nails. This might be the perfect muesli, one that is healthy but provides an added feature of promoting more beauteous skin and healthier hair.
