Ahmedabad, Gujarat -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/21/2012 -- Stakeholders of the Gujarat nonwovens textile industry have got together and formed the Gujarat Nonwoven Manufacturers Association- GUJNON. Dr Chandan Chatterjee, Director - iNDEXTb, Govt of Gujarat, formally launched GUJNON in Ahmedabad on December 24, 2011.

The objective of GUJNON is to promote consumption of nonwovens, to work for hike in applications of nonwovens, increase presence of nonwovens in day-to-day life and educate on the benefits.

The mission of the association is to bring awareness of manifold benefits of nonwovens usage in daily life & thereby develop Gujarat as the largest manufacturer and converting base for nonwovens in India.

The challenges before the association is to create demand for nonwovens, make the industry profitable, which is incurring huge losses in its infancy stage and make people aware that nonwovens is not plastic.
