Wahab & Medenica LLC Partner Appointed Editor of Federal Bar Association's SDNY Chapter Newsletter

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/20/2012 -- Wahab & Medenica partner Olivera Medenica has been appointed editor of the newly launched newsletter for the Southern District of New York Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. The newsletter will consist of comprehensive articles on an array of developing legal issues affecting federal practitioners, including pieces on past, present, or pending legislation, cases and events, judicial profiles, and new developments. Ms. Medenica aims for the newsletter to promote substantial discussions within the Federal Bar Association community.

With that purpose in mind, Ms. Medenica has also contributed an article to the inaugural edition of the newsletter discussing a trademark dispute currently pending in the Southern District of New York. The lawsuit filed by fashion designer Christian Louboutin against Yves Saint Laurent America asks whether the red soles of Louboutin's shoes are protected under federal trademark law as trade dress, and if so, whether the red soles of Yves Saint Laurent's monochromatic shoes infringe upon that trademark protection. The article explores the legal arguments for each side and the potential impact the decision in Christian Louboutin v. Yves Saint Laurent America may have on the fashion industry.

Ms. Medenica currently serves as co-chair of the Federal Bar Association's SDNY Chapter Intellectual Property Committee.
