Study Shows Botanical Formula Fights Prostate Cancer

Third study to show formula’s effectiveness also demonstrates no toxic side-effects

Santa Rosa, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/29/2012 -- A non-toxic, botanical formula controls aggressive human prostate tumors in mice, according to a peer-reviewed study in the The International Journal of Oncology. Researchers at Indiana University, Methodist Research Institute, showed the prostate formula significantly suppresses tumor growth in aggressive, hormone-refractory (androgen-independent) human prostate cancer cells. The study also demonstrated the formula has no toxic side effects, even at high dosages.

"This study is a milestone in the research of this formula, demonstrating its safety and effectiveness in treating human prostate cancer in an animal model," says researcher and formula inventor Dr. Isaac Eliaz. "These positive results offer a significant contribution to prostate cancer research and add to the growing body of published data substantiating the role of natural compounds in the treatment of prostate cancer."

The formula combines botanical extracts, phytonutrients, botanically-enhanced medicinal mushrooms and antioxidants. This is the third study from a major university to demonstrate the formula's ability to suppress tumor growth and metastasis.

"Multiple studies have demonstrated that this prostate formula is a possible treatment for hormone-refractory prostate cancer," says lead researcher, Dr. Daniel Sliva.

The study found that the orally-administered formula suppressed tumor growth by 27 percent, compared to controls. In addition to significant reduction in tumor volume, the formula inhibited several genes (IGF2, NRNF2 and PLAU/uPA) that encourage cancer proliferation and metastasis. The formula also increased expression of CDKN1A, a gene that fights prostate cancer by inhibiting cancer-promoting cellular mechanisms.

By suppressing genes related to aggressive prostate cancer growth and proliferation, and increasing the expression of cancer-fighting genes, the formula demonstrates multiple anti-cancer mechanisms and genetic targets.

This pre-clinical in vivo study confirms previously published in vitro data, which showed the formula decreases the expression of PLAU/uPA genes in aggressive, hormone-independent prostate cancer cells.

Prior to this research, the formula was studied at Columbia University and the Cancer Research Laboratory, Methodist Research Institute, at Indiana University Health. These studies also showed the formula inhibits prostate cancer growth and proliferation.

Meditation Fights Cancer and Promotes Longevity

Santa Rosa, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/28/2012 -- Calmly meditating produces exciting, beneficial effects on your body. It can protect your DNA against cancer-promoting genetic developments and free you from everyday stresses and distractions. That's why meditation is one of the most powerful, but often neglected, tools for maintaining optimal health.

Physical Vitality
Most of us don't think of meditation as being important in maintaining physical vitality. We know that healthy diet, proper supplementation, regular exercise, and a positive social support system are important for our health on all levels — physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. However, despite these healthy habits, many of us still struggle with managing our stress levels. Science is proving over and over that chronic stress can be deadly, contributing to our most serious health conditions.

This direct mind-body connection is something that Eastern philosophies have taught for millennia, and recent research has supplied us with a revealing new technical perspective. Renowned medical doctor and mind-body expert, Dr. Isaac Eliaz says, "Clinical studies demonstrate that chronic stress may have a profound effect on our DNA by shortening our DNA telomeres. Telomere deterioration puts us at higher risk of developing cancer and other harmful conditions. The good news: There's an ancient and well-known mind-body practice which is now proving successful in physically repairing this telomere DNA damage, while restoring peace of mind at the same time. What is this practice? Simple meditation."

What Are Telomeres?
Our genes are located on twisted, double-stranded molecules of DNA called chromosomes. At the ends of the chromosomes are stretches of DNA called telomeres. These are essentially caps that protect our genetic data, allow for cells to divide properly and reflect how we age.

Similar to the plastic covers on the ends of shoelaces, telomeres protect chromosomes from fraying due to aging, poor health and environmental influences. Telomeres are shortened every time the cells divide; and when they become too short, the cells are not able to divide properly. While researchers are already aware that telomeres shorten and deteriorate with aging, new studies demonstrate that chronic stress also contributes to their reduction. Further research shows that as telomeres shrink, cancer risk grows.

Meditation Protects Telomeres
"The inevitable wear and tear of your telomeres cannot be halted altogether, but it can certainly be delayed and even reversed through the activation of a key enzyme called telomerase. Telomerase protects the ends of telomeres from weakening and fraying," says Dr. Eliaz. So how do you reap the benefits of this super-charged enzyme? Studies show that psychological changes associated with regular meditation improve your ability to cope with stress and contribute to increased telomerase activity.

Simple Practice for Beginners
If you're not sure how to begin meditating, studies show that even just 10 minutes a day can provide significant mental, emotional and physical health benefits. Here's a simple technique to get you started: Simply sit quietly and focus your attention, as well as your breathing, on a particular object such as a small stone. As thoughts and emotions arise, simply acknowledge and release them, bringing your attention back to your breath. As your practice unfolds, you may find that there is more and more space between your internal monologues, allowing for a sense of openness and freedom from everyday stresses and distractions. This is where the meditation and healing process truly begins. Initially, you should notice tangible benefits like better mental focus, improved emotional balance, and increased energy.

Meditation and Healing Retreat

Blocking a Biological Bully

New research presented at naturopathic oncology conference shows Modified Citrus Pectin counteracts Galectin-3.

Carefree, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/19/2012 -- Galectin-3 sounds like a planet out of "Star Trek," but it can be much more ominous. Recently, distinguished integrative physician Isaac Eliaz, M.D., presented breakthrough research demonstrating that the protein Galectin-3 is an active biomarker for numerous life-threatening diseases. Even more importantly, Dr. Eliaz showed how Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) binds and blocks Galectin-3 throughout the body. The unique ability to inhibit and block the harmful effects of Galectin-3 is one of MCP's many essential health benefits.

This extensive body of research was presented to hundreds of naturopathic oncologists at the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP) 2012 Convention & Exposition.

"It's truly rewarding to share cutting-edge research demonstrating Modified Citrus Pectin's ability to promote health and prevent disease," says Dr. Eliaz.

Galectin-3 is a protein produced naturally by our bodies, but elevated levels can lead to chronic inflammation, fibrosis, heart disease, and metastatic cancer. By binding and blocking excess Galectin-3, Modified Citrus Pectin prevents this rogue protein from wreaking havoc.

The FDA recently approved a blood test that measures Galectin-3 levels, highlighting a key risk factor for progressive heart failure. The test can also determine Galectin-3 induced risk to the liver, lungs, brain and kidneys, as well as indicate risks of cancer progression and metastasis.

Versatile Health Benefits of MCP
Recent studies demonstrate that Modified Citrus Pectin significantly enhances immune function, and reduces galectin-3 expression and disease severity in kidney injury. Furthermore, MCP is proven through multiple clinical studies to remove lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium from the body without reducing essential minerals.

Dr. Eliaz also shared new research showing that MCP, when combined with two advanced poly-botanical formulas, works synergistically to inhibit aggressive breast and prostate cancer cells. This study was presented at the last Experimental Biology meeting and is currently in press for publication.

"Researchers found that MCP, in combination with either the breast or prostate formula, further inhibits the metastatic processes of adhesion and migration of breast and prostate cancer cells," says Dr. Eliaz.

These new discoveries demonstrate that Modified Citrus Pectin can potentially help address many serious health conditions which currently have limited or no treatment options.

Honokiol for Cancer and Anti-Anxiety Support
Dr. Eliaz concluded this presentation by sharing research on the botanical compound, Honokiol. The data presented by Dr. Eliaz demonstrates that Honokiol provides many health benefits as an anti-cancer, anti-oxidant and anti-anxiety agent. Honokiol is a Magnolia bark extract and is safe to use with conventional cancer therapies. Honokiol has also been shown to work synergistically with Modified Citrus Pectin, to increase anti-cancer support.

Breakthrough Cancer Research Presented at Naturopathic Oncology Conference

Carefree, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/13/2012 -- Isaac Eliaz, M.D., M.S., L.Ac., distinguished medical doctor and researcher, presents Galectin-3 as a breakthrough biomarker for numerous life-threatening diseases. He also shared new research on the critical role of Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) as the foremost Galectin-3 blocker. Dr. Eliaz's latest presentation was given to hundreds of integrative oncologists during the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physician's 2012 Convention (OncANP).

OncANP is one of the largest naturopathic organizations with members who specialize in the treatment of cancer. A major focus of the association's mission is to provide advanced training in the practice of naturopathic oncology for its membership and by doing so to improve the quality of care and patient outcome.

"It's truly rewarding to share cutting edge research with the medical community, demonstrating Modified Citrus Pectin's ability to promote health and prevent disease," says Dr. Eliaz. Modified Citrus Pectin offers remarkable health benefits, which includes binding and blocking excess Galectin-3 molecules throughout the body.

Role of Galectin-3 Molecules
Galectin-3 is produced naturally by the body, but new research proves that elevated levels can lead to serious health conditions like heart disease, fibrosis and metastatic cancer. By binding to and blocking excess Galectin-3 molecules, Modified Citrus Pectin prevents Galectin-3 from wreaking havoc on the body's systems. A new blood test that measures circulating levels of Galectin-3 as a risk factor in progressive heart failure is now approved by the FDA and covered by most health insurance. This test can also help to determine risks of damage in other organs, including the liver, lungs, brain, kidneys, and others, as well as the progression of cancer.

MCP for Detoxification and Immunity
New studies also demonstrate the ability of Modified Citrus Pectin to greatly enhance immune function, and significantly reduce dangerous heavy metals in our bodies. "When the toxic burden is high, I recommend a gentle, yet highly effective heavy metal detoxification program using Modified Citrus Pectin," says Dr. Eliaz. MCP is proven to remove lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium, without lowering levels of essential minerals.

Synergistic Effects of MCP with Poly-Botanical Formulas
Groundbreaking new research proves Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) works synergistically to inhibit aggressive cancer cell behavior, when combined with two of Dr. Eliaz's advanced poly-botanical formulas: one for breast health and one for prostate health. This latest in vitro study has been accepted for publication in the journal, Integrative Cancer Therapies and was shared during Dr. Eliaz's OncANP lecture. "The findings are extremely promising! Researchers found that MCP, in combination with either the breast or prostate formula, significantly further inhibits the metastatic processes of adhesion and migration of breast and prostate cancer cells, in a dose-dependent manner."

Honokiol For Cancer, Antioxidant and Anxiety Support
Research presented during Dr. Eliaz's lecture shows Honokiol has multiple health benefits ranging from anti-cancer and antioxidant, to a calming effect. Honokiol is extracted from the bark of the Magnolia tree and is safe to use with conventional cancer therapies. It also works synergistically with Modified Citrus Pectin for increased anti-cancer support.

The new discoveries give Modified Citrus Pectin greater potential in the prevention and treatment of many serious health conditions for which there are currently limited or no treatments available.
Third Peer-Reviewed Study Proves Botanical Formula Fights Prostate Cancer Without Toxicity

Santa Rosa, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/13/2012 -- Scientists at Indiana University, Methodist Research Institute study a botanical formula that kills aggressive prostate cancer tumors. Their findings, based on experiments in mice using a human prostate cancer tumor model, appear online in The International Journal of Oncology. This is the third published study from a major university to show significant results of this specific multi-nutrient prostate formula against the invasive behavior of aggressive prostate cancer cells, tumor growth and metastasis. The formula combines botanical extracts, phytonutrients, botanically-enhanced medicinal mushrooms, and antioxidants. *Learn more about the formula by visiting http://www.prostatehealthsolutions.org

Lead researcher, Dr. Daniel Sliva says, "Multiple studies demonstrate that this prostate formula is a possible treatment for hormone refractory (androgen independent) prostate cancer."

Suppresses Aggressive Tumor Growth Without Toxicity
Results of the study show this prostate formula significantly suppressed tumor growth in aggressive, hormone refractory (androgen independent) human-prostate cancer cells. This study also analyzed the formula for potential toxicity, demonstrating it to be safe with no signs of toxicity at the highest dosages. *To view the study, visit www.spandidos-publications.com/10.3892/ijo.2012.1344

Researcher and formulator, Dr. Isaac Eliaz says, "This study is a milestone in the research of this formula, demonstrating its safety and effectiveness in treating human prostate cancer in an animal model. These positive results offer a significant contribution to the field of prostate cancer research, and add to the growing body of published data substantiating the role of natural compounds in the treatment of prostate cancer."

Results of the study show that the oral administration of the formula produced a statistically significant 27% suppression of tumor growth, compared to controls. The study was performed using a xenograft tumor model of human prostate cancer in mice.

Inhibits Genes Involved in Tumor Growth and Metastasis
Even more important, in addition to significant reduction in tumor volume, results showed inhibition of the expression of several genes involved in cancer proliferation and metastasis. Three prostate cancer-related genes (IGF2, NRNF2 and PLAU/uPA) that were suppressed by this formula not only control aggressive prostate tumor growth, but also relate to the metastatic potential. It is metastasis that makes prostate cancer deadly. The formula also significantly increased the expression of a gene that fights against prostate cancer, CDKN1A, which works by specifically inhibiting other cancer promoting cellular mechanisms.

By suppressing specific genes related to aggressive prostate cancer growth and proliferation, and increasing the expression of cancer-fighting genes, this integrative formula demonstrated multiple anti-cancer mechanisms and genetic targets. This pre-clinical in vivo study confirms previously published in vitro data, which also shows the ability of this formula to decrease the expression of PLAU/uPA genes in aggressive, hormone-independent prostate cancer cells.

Study Further Validates Earlier Results
This formula was previously studied at research laboratories at Columbia University, New York, NY and at the Cancer Research Laboratory, Methodist Research Institute, Indiana University Health, Indianapolis, IN. These published studies showed significant results in this formula's ability to inhibit prostate cancer growth and proliferation. *To view the research, visit http://www.prostatehealthsolutions.org

"In summary, this dietary supplement is a natural compound for the possible therapy of human hormone refractory (independent) prostate cancer," says Dr. Sliva. Ongoing research on this formula in prostate cancer models continues to show encouraging results, and additional studies are forthcoming.
