Vancouver, BC -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2014 -- Chipkin Automation Systems has released Barrigton LanStar MicroStar Gateway which allows the automation professionals to integrate, remote monitor and control their Barrington LanStar and Microstar system.

Chipkin Automation Systems is able to provide three solutions. These allow remote monitoring and control by exposing the Barrington data using the protocol of one's choice such as Modbus, BACnet, Rockwell, XML, Web and dozens more.

By talking directly to the LanStar, the company can read and write points in the MicroStar's (including Set Points and virtual DO's associated with a MicroStar). This communication does not interfere with any existing connections to the LanStar as it has four ports for connections of this type. Thus, one can retain any SCADA or software already talking to the LanStar. One gateway can talk to one LanStar and all of its MicroStar's. This system has been well tested at a major computer chip manufacturing facility located in California. This solution is ideal if the engineer wants to retain the LanStar, without having to re-write the logic and scheduling programmed into the LanStar.

If the LanStar does not need to be retained, or the LanStar has failed, then CAS has a solution that can talk directly to the MicroStar's. One gateway can connect to one or two trunks of MicroStar's and read and write data. This solution allows the engineer to read and write the ai, ao, bi, bo and counter data.

Finally, CAS has a snoop solution. If the system with LanStar's is not able to interfere with the system, the company can connect to the trunk that connects the LanStar's to the MicroStar's and listen. Furthermore, there is no transmission as CAS does not interfere with the communications in any way - adding no load to the bandwidth. Since the LanStar continuously reads data from each MicroStar, the gateway will see all the data from each MicroStar on a regular basis. This data can be mapped onto other protocols so users can use it to animate graphics, keep logs and trends and monitor the MicroStar data.

These solutions have been deployed successfully by customers as well as being tested by CAS engineers using LanStar and MicroStars in the office.

CAS BACnet and Modbus Series Data Clients connect to multiple BACnet and Modbus devices to read data. When the data and transactions are logged, the log files are available and can be transferred to other computers. Additionally, current data can be monitored by remote systems running applications that can issue HTTP or SOAP/XMP GET requests – such applications can be easily developed by the end users. Furthermore, this data is available using an Internet Browser such as Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. Engineers can configure the connection parameters, device parameters, data parameters as well as the data objects, types and properties.

Vancouver, BC -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/16/2012 -- Chipkin Automation Systems Inc. has recently developed its new software named CAS BACnet Object Monitor to the automation world. It is launched in January 2012, a Windows-based software for the automation engineers to test and monitor the connections to BACnet IP devices easily.

CAS BACnet Object Monitor is extremely simple to use. A user can configure BACnet data points either manually through a configuration screen or by importing a configuration file. The user can then view connection and status details of the configure points on the status screen.

Some requirements are needed for the application to run successfully. First of all, the application must be installed on a computer running a Windows operating system. Secondly, the computer that the application is installed on must be on the same subnet as the BACnet IP device to be monitored or tested. Lastly, the BACnet IP device being monitored or tested must have objects of types: analog input/output/value, binary input/output/value, or multi-state input/output/value.

Upon successful download, a user manual will pop up automatically to explain on its general operation, instructions and Frequently Ask Questions. If this application is being used on a trial basis, the notification banner will display the "Trial Version Active" message. The Trial Version limits the user to monitor a maximum of 3 BACnet objects.

If the connection to the BACnet IP device is interrupted, or there was no connection in the first place, the table entries for the objects on the Status Page will have a red background indicating a loss of connection.
