New Technology Benefits Scarless Vein Treatment Center

Wilmington, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/24/2014 -- Millions of Americans are affected by Venous Disease. Three companies with a North Carolina presence are working together to more effectively provide treatment. Raleigh-based Core Sound Imaging, Inc., is pleased to announce a relationship with Dr. Kamran Gardouzi of Wilmington, NC. These two organizations, together with Josh Kaplan, a Raleigh-based consultant for ZONARE Medical Systems, are impacting Venous Disease with State-of-the-Art medical imaging solutions.

Scarless Vein Care is scheduled to open an 18,000 square foot dermatology and vein care center in Wilmington, NC on September 26, 2014 in partnership with DermOne Dermatology, a nationwide chain of dermatology centers. The center will be the flagship facility for both patient care and training of healthcare professionals for the treatment of skin and vein disorders. The new facility's vein initiative will be led by Dr. Gardouzi, who is a pioneer in scarless vein treatment.

"We are excited to join with DermOne in this national effort as we emulate a model for all other new vein centers we have and will be creating throughout the country," said Goudarzi. "It is our goal to not only provide our high level of patient care, but also offer a flagship training center as we roll this out. I look forward to instructing current and future physicians on the latest vein care technique and form."

An important element in the roll out of Scarless Vein Care Centers was seamless imaging workflow and state-of-the-art solutions. Dr. Gardouzi chose Studycast by Core Sound Imaging to reduce the time his office staff and physicians were spending on imaging documentation. The Studycast software allows the team to view images on a mobile device, allowing them to be viewed from the location and at the time preferred by the physician. Dr. Gardouzi has also deployed next generation ultrasound imaging from ZONARE Medical Systems which has named him a ZONARE Center of Excellence for the past three years.

Joining Dr. Goudarzi within the spacious new complex are Deidra Blanks, MD, of Wilmington Aesthetics, and Jonathan Crane, MD, from Atlantic Dermatology. With 35 other DermOne locations, the addition of vein services will be directed by Dr. Goudarzi as the model of dermatology and vein care centers expands. The new center is scheduled to open September 26, 2014.

Studycast Cloud PACS Helps Physicians Spend More Time with Family

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/13/2013 -- Physicians work with large case loads on a routine basis and physician burnout is a reality facing the industry. Fortunately, modern technology has made the workload for doctors and healthcare administrations easier and more efficient. The most notable of which has been the integration of cloud PACS technology into health care practices.

The benefits of web based PACS are far reaching. Not only does it provide hospital administration with an easy to use and access tool for managing data and reports, it also improves the workflow for physicians by giving them faster and easier access to their ultrasound images and worksheets.

Cloud PACS allow ultrasound images and studies to be stored remotely in the cloud and accessed anywhere on any device with internet access. This means doctors do not have to be tied to the hospital's network to access their patient files. They can work remotely, even from home. Allowing physicians more flexibility in their schedule and less time at the office and more time to be spent with family.

Cloud PACS Help Physicians Meet the EHR / EMR Deadline

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/10/2013 -- The U.S. government has mandated that all health care providers and facilities must switch to electronic medical records (EMR)instead of paper by January 1, 2014. Fortunately, technology services in the cloud for EHR / EMR are becoming more readily available for physicians and hospitals across the country and is helping to make the transition easier to manage.

It is being said that rural hospitals and small, independent physician practices will have a harder time meeting the new EMR requirements, but this is not necessarily true. Cloud PACS services, like Studycast, allow rural practices to access and implement powerful ultrasound and diagnostic technology from the internet, without any fancy equipment or high expense.

Studycast cloud PACS can integrate with health care facility's new or existing EHR / EMR system. It allows physicians to transmit and view ultrasound images anywhere with internet access. It creates complete, professional reports that include study images with just a few clicks, and those images can be shared with patients on any mobile device, including an iPad.

Cloud Computing Projected to Help Save Energy Costs

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/18/2013 -- The Carbon Disclosure Project, a non-profit which tracks corporate climate change information, recently published a report that stated cloud computing is projected to assist large U.S. companies save $12.3 billion in energy costs and cut out 85.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually by 2020.

This means a wide variety of cloud services, including cloud PACS, make a positive contribution to sustainability.

What are cloud computing services? Cloud computing is internet-based computing, where shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices by users logging in. Cloud services like ultrasound picture archiving (PACS) make traditional software services available to anyone with internet access. Cloud services also encourage important clean-tech applications like smart grids and renewable resources for cooling server locations. Cloud PACS also encourages healthcare facilities and their administrators to use virtual services such as mobile diagnostics and storing ultrasound images in the cloud to replace film or CDs, which are very taxing on resources and create more trash.

Medical Imaging Software Trends Report

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/19/2013 -- The medical imaging industry has always been focused on innovative, patient-friendly products that promote greater safety and easier access for physicians around the world. And trends for this year are right in line with that.

The three most critical current trends we are seeing include: expanding global reach, rising need for cardio imaging solutions, and increase in demand for imaging mobility.

According to research from Frost & Sullivan, Global Trends in Medical Imaging – Cardiology Applications, there has been a recent shift in the adoption pattern for imaging modalities. North American and European markets have been mostly saturated, and so now the largest revenue share is being generated by emerging economies like China, India, Russia and Brazil. The research covers 4 diagnostic modalities for cardiac applications: cardiac computed tomography (CT), cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), echocardiography and interventional cardiology.

Rising cardiovascular disease among an aging Baby Boomer population is expanding physicians' patient pools while simultaneously increasing the demand for equipment and software that can better handle larger workload of diagnostic imaging. This drives the healthcare industry's world-wide need for technologically advanced medical imaging software solutions.

The world is shrinking every day not just as more people are able to travel, but also as more people use technology to communicate with each other instantly while 1,000s of miles apart. So what was once impossible for healthcare, is now standard practice and the technology to support those mobile healthcare workers is needed.

Notifications Accelerates Physicians' Response Time to Medical Images

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/19/2013 -- A research group in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia, found that by using PACS systems that notify referring physicians to tell them their patients' medical images were available in the PACS dramatically sped up the time physicians study review time from 3 hours to just 30 minutes!

This news attests to the helpful and money-saving workflow power of Studycast® cloud PACS.

Studycast® cloud PACS automatically notifies physicians when images and studies are ready to be viewed. Moreover, the referring physicians can also login to the cloud PACS from their iPad, or laptop. This saves even more time, and hassle, from physicians having to go to a designated work station (or computer on the other side of the hospital) to view their studies.

Impact on Healthcare

With automated cloud PACS notifications, clinical care may be provided in a more timely fashion. There is therefore potential for more efficient and timely healthcare provision. Departments such as pathology, echocardiography, and even outpatient clinics can all benefit directly.

Based on the study results from Australia, future areas of development may also examine the effect of automated responses has on clinical outcome parameters such as a patient's length of stay, which of course has direct impact on lowering healthcare costs while increasing revenue.

Starting a Mobile Echocardiogram Service Best Practices

Core Sound Imaging supports mobile echo technicians by providing innovative, mobile echocardiogram imaging software in the cloud. The following is news on how you can start your own practice.

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/24/2013 -- The first and most important step in setting up your mobile echocardiography practice is to secure funding for your mobile echo service. Getting the funds to start your service can often be the most challenging part. The best way is to get into a partnership with a cardiologist and use his ID numbers for insurance billing.

It is also important to thoroughly understand all of the business aspects before you take on any commitments like buying or leasing a mobile echocardiogram machine. Have a realistic business plan for how will you get referring physicians to change their referral patterns. Be able to answer questions like: What benefit is there to their cardiology practice? What is your echocardiogram ultrasound process? and how will you report your ultrasound images to the doctor and patient?

Once you have the fundamentals in place, you will need to setup a billing schedule for your mobile echo services. Reimbursement laws are different in each state so make sure to do your homework. Talk with your local Medicare carrier and get information about what it will take for your business to become a provider.

Once you are ready to start running your mobile echocardiogram service, you will want to demo and buy your equipment and mobile echocardiogram imaging software. That's where Studycast cloud PACS and mobile echocardiogram imaging software can help.

Studycast cardiology PACS is a mobile medical imaging solution that facilitates a more efficient, more comprehensive workflow for you and your practice. Technicians and their doctors can access their echocardiogram study images and measurements from anywhere, on any device with internet access.
Navix delivers a wide range of diagnostic services including vascular ultrasound, echocardiography, general ultrasound, obstetrics/gynecology ultrasound, nuclear medicine and Holter monitoring. Navix's lab program includes comprehensive testing through the use of credentialed technologists, extensive clinical protocols and diagnostic criteria, advanced technology in 3D imaging, lab accreditation, technologist and physician training, marketing services and equipment, and through Studycast, web-based reporting and image storage,.

Studycast's SmartWorksheets offer exam-specific tools to effectively and efficiently complete an interpretation. A comprehensive workflow solution, Studycast provides support beginning when the ultrasound exam leaves the ultrasound machine and ending when the final report has reached the intended recipients.

"It was important to find a solution that supported Navix's clinical protocols. The SmartWorksheets included in Studycast are consistent with our exam protocols which make exam processing much easier for our clinicians," said Robert Kane, SVP of Clinical Services and Business Development.

There are two components that are part of the Studycast process — CoreConnect and CoreWeb. CoreConnect is the gateway product that resides on a computer at the client's local facility. CoreConnect receives the exam from the ultrasound machine, and then transmits the images and study data to CoreWeb. CoreWeb is the web application that is used to view study images, Studycast SmartWorksheets and final reports.

Patient Data Security

Core Sound Imaging deploys Studycast through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. Despite increasing regulatory and security challenges, an emerging trend towards the adoption of cloud-based software is starting to take hold in healthcare. Healthcare organizations are realizing not only the economic benefits but the opportunity to improve patient care as a result of implementing cloud computing in many parts of their organization. Navix's partnership with Core Sound Imaging offers a cost-effective option for physicians and administrators seeking to reduce costs, increase productivity and enhance patient care.

While scrutiny on compliance with Patient Privacy Rights continues to escalate, cloud-based software is gaining momentum in healthcare. In July 2012, research firm Markets and Markets reported that the cloud computing market in the health care sector is expected to grow to $5.4 billion by 2017.

"It is important for healthcare organizations to work with companies who provide solutions that meet HIPAA requirements and understand the governing laws of Patient Privacy Rights," said Mark Smith, President of Core Sound Imaging. "Not only does Studycast assist facilities in meeting HIPAA requirements but also Core Sound Imaging is ISO13485:2003 certified."

From nearly any ultrasound machine, Studycast can acquire measurement data and populate this data in the online SmartWorksheets. While many applications require technical skills that are not typically available in the health care sector, Navix and Core Sound Imaging make it easy for healthcare organizations to realize the operational benefits that many other businesses have already achieved with cloud computing.

Cloud PACS Environmentally Beneficial

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/15/2013 -- While it may be difficult to really calculate carbon footprint of cloud technology services like cloud PACS, there are strong global environmental benefits of cloud computing. In fact, The Carbon Disclosure Project, a non-profit which tracks corporate climate change information, recently published a report that stated cloud computing is projected to assist large U.S. companies save $12.3 billion in energy costs and cut out 85.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually by 2020.

Cloud services, including cloud PACS, make a positive contribution to sustainability. The cloud encourages important clean-tech applications like smart grids and using renewable resources for cooling server locations. Cloud PACS in particular encourages those in the healthcare industry to use virtual services such as mobile diagnostics and storing ultrasound images in the cloud to replace resource-heavy methods like film or CDs.

Results Published from Medical Mission Project in India Using Studycast Telemedicine Technology

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/19/2013 -- In early 2012, two NC firms, The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and Core Sound Imaging, conducted a medical mission project using the latest telemedicine technology to bring cardiovascular ultrasound to rural India.

The project sponsored the travel of cardiovascular sonographers to a remote field in India. Focused echocardiographic studies were performed by nine sonographers using pocket-sized or handheld devices. The scans were then uploaded onto the Studycast® web-based medical imaging viewing system for remote worldwide interpretation by 75 physicians.

Of the 1,021 interpretable scans, 207 (20.3%) had minor and 170 (16.7%) had major abnormalities. Left ventricular systolic dysfunction was the most frequent major abnormality (45.9%), followed by valvular (32.9%) and congenital (13.5%) defects.

The most impressive aspect of this project was the record-breaking size and turnaround time. A total of 1,023 studies were interpreted at a median time of just 11:44 hours.

"The technological achievement of this event cannot be overstated. In just 2 days, over 1,000 echoes were performed in remote, rural, NW India, those exams digitized and uploaded to the Internet [Studycast®] cloud for interpretation by dozens of volunteer readers all over the world, usually within 8 hours of acquisition" said ASE President, Dr. James Thomas, MD, FASE, FACC.

The cross-cultural educational project showcased the possibilities offered by breakthroughs in hand-held echocardiography technology and cloud-based transmission, while offering participants a unique opportunity to learn from one another and be part of a humanitarian effort.

Ultrasound Techs Take Images to New Heights With Cloud PACS

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/13/2012 -- Storing data in the cloud has become mainstream practice for the public and for corporations. It allows users to store and share pictures, music, documents on a remote server that can be accessed by any authorized person on any device with internet access. It's made a huge impact on our daily lives, and the technology hasn't been lost on those in the healthcare industry.

Before the invention of the "cloud" concept, mobile ultrasound technicians would have to burn ultrasound images onto CDs and videos, and then drive or mail them to the reading physician. The process could take a week or even more to get any results to the patient. Web-based ultrasound imaging software removes the need for hard copies and transportation, drastically improving diagnostic study turnaround time.

With cloud PACS technology, high quality medical images are delivered fast and appear in the web browser as soon as they're downloaded. Study data is already populated into the report, reducing the chance for human error as well as reducing time spent having to transpose figures. Voice recognition functionality can also be integrated to help complete the report quickly and without interruption to normal workflow.

The process greatly reduces the time it takes to compare current and prior studies, a drain of a reading physician's time as volumetric datasets increase in size and complexity and become routine.

Completed studies using a web-based medical imaging software can then be easily transmitted with a click of a button. The study is then available for the physician to read on any computer. He or she can then immediately complete the report, reference earlier studies, and provide immediate diagnosis to the patient.

Studycast is the leader in cloud PACS and web-based medical imaging solutions. Studycast uses the cloud for data storage and to allow healthcare workers access and transmit ultrasound studies 24/7 from virtually anywhere. Traditional methods to transmit diagnostic studies could take up to an hour, while Studycast studies can be transmitted in five minutes or less.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Studycast
Telephone: 919-277-0636
Email: Click to Email Studycast
Web: http://www.corestudycast.com/features

Update to Cardiology PACS Technology

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/08/2012 -- In a recent study sponsored by the Population Health Research Institute at McMaster University and funded by a grant-in-aid from Biosense Webster, a randomized trial showed that patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation who underwent pulmonary vein isolation with radiofrequency ablation had a significantly lower risk of a first recurrence of atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, or atrial tachyarrhythmia compared to drug therapy.

Why is this important? As more advances are made in cardiology research, the technology to support treatment advance as well. Cardiologists don't just want more powerful tools, they need them in order to provide the best care to their patients.

Studycast is a cloud PACS and mobile ultrasound imaging solution for cardiologists. And recently, Studycast has announced that they have just released an update to their cardiology PACS.

The update includes two new SmartWorksheets™ that can help physicians improve patient care. The two new SmartWorksheets™ are Post Ablation and Venous Insufficiency and are now available to all Studycast users.

These worksheets are used to complete reports for the ultrasound exams performed before and after an ablation procedure. They are unique in that they provide the diagrams often completed by a sonographer who would traditionally color in a printout, but these interactive diagrams allow segments of the veins to be 'colored' with a click and thus provide quantitative data that can be used for analyzing data in the future.

Studycast allows cardiologists to transmit and view ultrasound images anywhere with internet access. It creates complete, professional reports that include study images with just a few clicks, and those images can be shared with patients right in the office, on any computer or mobile device, including an iPad.

Studycast is scalable, flexible, vendor-neutral, and compatible with all ultrasound equipment manufacturers. All of their reporting templates meet ASNC/ICANL requirements for Nuclear Cardiology.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Studycast
Email: Click to Email Studycast
Web: http://www.corestudycast.com/

Mobile Cardiac Ultrasound Medical Mission Breaks World Record

Studycast mobile medical imaging software was used to help a record-setting medical mission project in India!

Raleigh, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/27/2012 -- The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) released their Spring/Summer newsletter recently and it featured the story about Studycast being used to help a record-setting medical mission project in India.

ASE sponsored the travel of cardiovascular sonographers to a remote field in India, where an estimated 12 million people gathered for a meditation camp. The cardiovascular sonographers and their physician counterparts used hand-held mobile echocardiography units provided by GE Healthcare to screen and triage people with heart health issues. The echocardiography devices were then used in combination with Studycast, a web-based ultrasound imaging transmission software.

The trip was a great success and the team was able to provide free screening echocardiograms to over 1,000 people in just 2 days. Additionally, the medical mission trip set a Guinness Book World Record for 555 Doppler studies performed in 24 hours!

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Laurie Smith
Email: Click to Email Laurie Smith
Web: http://www.corestudycast.com/features/transmit
