Public Sector Issues Staff With Stab Proof Vests

A firm that supplies stab vests has been inundated with orders from public sector organisations seeking protection for their staff.

Essex, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/23/2012 -- In what should be a safe and controlled environment, public sector workers are having to deal with increased levels of violence and the frequent threat of attacks. The number of attacks on staff has resulted in a major concern for public sector safety. Now public sector branches are taking their own measures to deal with the violence from members of the public.

Essex based, Body Armour manufacturer, VestGuard UK have received an unusually high volume of enquiries since the start of 2012 to supply stab proof vests to public sector staff. The threat of violence to NHS staff has been well documented over the years, although a little less publicized is the threat that the Environment Agency and trading standard institute are facing when carrying out their jobs, VestGuard say that this threat is troublingly evident.

"The majority of our sales are for the supply of bullet proof body armour, so to have this many enquiries about our stab vest has been somewhat unusual. Not only have we had orders from individual NHS branches, we've also had a number from other public sector organisations including, the environment agency and trading standards ". Michael Smith, Operations Director, VestGuard UK.

It is estimated that the violence costs the NHS around £100,000 a year in security, time off for affected staff, and legal costs. Labour MP for Tynemouth, Alan Campbell said stab vests should be made available to frontline emergency workers.

He added: "I think if someone has been attacked in the line of duty it should be taken into account during sentencing. Courts have to reflect public feeling on this and the public wants people who carry knives to be locked up." Labour MP for Tynemouth, Alan Campbell.

"Council workers come into contact with every household across the country in some capacity. Obviously the risk that staff face varies enormously, and their level of protection needs to be both sensible and proportionate. Councils will not hesitate to use the appropriate measures to deal with any risk of attack." Local Government Association spokesman.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Lewis Lawson
Marketing Executive
VestGuard Uk
Telephone: 01621 816614
Email: Click to Email Lewis Lawson
Web: http://vestguard.com

British Company, VestGuard UK Release Female Hard Armour Plate

Essex, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/06/2012 -- Responding to the world demand for a lighter, ergonomically designed Hard Armour plate, British Body Armour manufacturer, VestGuard UK have taken their newest Plate to market, boasting a uniquely shaped ceramic core to provide the ideal form to fit the female body.

"Women are playing a greater role in the military than ever before. Therefore it's critical that advancements in body armour facilitate these changes. We are incredibly proud of our accomplishments with the MAX-9 Female Hard Armour Plate and I am truly delighted to release it". Michael Smith, Operations Director, VestGuard UK.

Its ergonomic form and low profile poses an ideal solution for women working in military, government and press roles. The female ceramic dual purpose plate is the sister of VestGuard's MAX-7 which meets the highest level of protection available on the market and is also the only British plate to be certified by NIJ. (NIJ Level IV)

VestGuard's Female Plate weighs an amazing 2.1 kilos, manufactured specifically to fit the female form. Not only lightweight, The MAX-9 looks to be an extremely cost-effective solution and offers high levels of protection when used in –conjunction- with VestGuard's advanced soft armour solutions.

"The MAX-9 is a culmination of efforts to improve ergonomics and provide maximum protection for the female form; the ballistic technology is based on our field proven MAX-7 solution. The key element of its design is the distribution of weight, preventing the plate from sitting on the bust, which would otherwise increase discomfort and reduce wearability." Philip Smith, Head of Research & Development, VestGuard UK

Adapting to the ever-changing expansion of the military, it is clear that VestGuard have a palpable insight into the needs of modern military, propelling innovative technology to the forefront of personal protection.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Lewis Lawson
Marketing Executive
VestGuard UK
Email: Click to Email Lewis Lawson
Web: http://www.vestguard.com
