Magnus Mobility 551D Square Wheel May Assist in IEC EN 60601-1 Standard

Orange, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/04/2012 -- The 551D Square Wheel Caster may assist in compliance with the new IEC/EN 60601-1 standard. This standard has been evolving for several years. In the case of casters, the standard calls for carts/medical equipment (ME) to be able to clear a tall obstacle, nominally a door sill, without damage to the equipment or need for the operator to lift the cart, risking personal injury.

A strategic partnership has been formed between Steinco, known worldwide for extraordinary German engineering of caster wheels and Magnus Mobility Systems Inc. Magnus is the leading, worldwide provider of motion control solutions including casters and wheels, gas springs, levelers, bearings, and accessories. Magnus combines the best of single-source convenience with the benefits of a global network. Strategic distribution and service centers enable Magnus to provide timely delivery of the 551D Square Wheel Caster products.

Cable pushers are generally found optionally incorporated onto twin-wheel casters; traditional single wheel institutional casters do not offer this option. One way hospitals deal with these problems is to install a plastic device around the caster wheel. It works fine, but must be removed when the device leaves the operating room. It will not clear door sills, and in some cases precludes access to the brake levers.

Medical equipment manufacturers require aesthetically pleasing designs that do not look industrial or threatening to patients who may already fear the surgical procedure. A Square Wheel Caster is best for use on relatively heavy medical equipment. While dozens of other uses exist, the 551D Square Wheel Caster was designed with the medical profession in mind. Problems entering or exiting elevators caused by the threshold crack in which wheels easily get caught if the wheels are not properly oriented have been resolved with the Square Wheel Caster available from Magnus Mobility. Other challenges overcome by this square wheel include navigating minor changes in floor levels or negotiating door sills. The unique built-in ramp between the wheels helps the caster climb over such obstacles.

Operating room floors obstructed by the power cords, connecting wires from equipment to the operating table, and various and assorted tubes present a labyrinth of obstacles. Most equipment used in hospitals rolls, since it is frequently used in multiple locations. Equipment in operating rooms must be removed so the theatre can be sanitized for the next procedure.

As equipment gets moved around it must navigate around, over, and through this snarl of obstacles without unplugging wires or standing on and clogging a vital tube. Some form of "cable pusher" is desirable to preclude causing a malfunctioning piece of equipment.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

David Baughn
Magnus Product Manager
Magnus Mobility
Telephone: 800-858-7801
Email: Click to Email David Baughn
Web: http://www.magnusinc.com

DiCandia Route and Magnus Mobility Roll Into Bakeries With Hi Temp Wheels and Casters

DiCandia Route and Magnus Mobility Roll into Bakeries with Hi Temp Wheels and Casters

Orange, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/02/2012 -- A strategic partnership arrangement has been formed between DiCandia Route, the Italian manufacturer of this hi-temp wheel, and Magnus Mobility Systems Inc. Magnus is the leading, worldwide provider of motion control solutions including casters and wheels, gas springs, levelers, bearings, and accessories. Magnus combines the best of single-source convenience with the benefits of a global network. Strategic distribution and service centers enable Magnus to provide timely delivery of this important hi-temp wheel product.

Traditional wheels do not work in hi-temp bakeries. Bakeries roll carts into ovens. Traditional hi-temp phenolic wheels survive about 350-400°F intermittent temperatures (30 mins in/30 mins cool-off). The traditional wheels are hard and noisy when rolling on the bakery floors. The wheels run directly on the caster axle without lubricant; they squeak when in higher temperatures.

A leading Italian manufacturer developed a special material and process originally developed for the aerospace industry and adapted it to special purpose wheels. The applications have expanded into stainless steel casters and other composite wheel materials focused on the food processing industry.

Hi-temperature RTH wheels are needed most in the food processing industry and these unique wheels and casters allow for Operating Temperature Ranges of -40°C (-104°F) to +260C (+500°F).

An ergonomically friendly work environment requires noise reduction. RTH wheels are a special proprietary high temperature aerospace rubber compound that cushions the loaded racks from vibration, reduce floor noise, and can be equipped with special noise eliminating bearings. The RTH wheels and the stainless steel casters available from Magnus Mobility are FDA/USDA approved for contact with food ingredients and are permanently lubricated with FDA approved, non-toxic lubricants.

The RTH wheel has no odor when used in bakery hi-temp food processing applications; traditional cushion tread wheels usually emit a plastic or rubber foul smell when heated.

Frozen foods manufacturers find benefits from the RTH wheel because frozen foods are partially prepared. That means they are often cooked or baked to some degree, then flash frozen for packaging. The RTH wheel can withstand, and is guaranteed within its operating range, huge environmental temperature swings quickly. Traditional casters and wheels usually fail relatively quickly in this situation.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Jonathan Cuyler
VP Sales
Magnus Mobility
Telephone: 800-858-7801
Email: Click to Email Jonathan Cuyler
Web: http://www.magnusinc.com

Magnus Mobility Medical Equipment Wheels Focus at Association of Operating Room Nurses

Orange, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/20/2012 -- The "Association of Operating Room Nurses" show will be held at the New Orleans Convention Center March 26-28. Magnus will be exhibiting in booth 4060. Featured will be the Steinco square wheel caster for medical carts and equipment and the DiCandia hi-temperature wheel for sterilization and autoclave carts.

The 551D Square Wheel Caster may assist in compliance with the new IEC/EN 60601-1 standard. This standard has been evolving for several years. In the case of casters, the standard calls for carts/medical equipment (ME) to be able to clear a tall obstacle, nominally a door sill, without damage to the equipment or need for the operator to lift the cart, risking personal injury.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

David Baughn
Magnus Product Manager
Magnus Mobility
Telephone: 800-858-7801
Email: Click to Email David Baughn
Web: http://www.magnusinc.com

Perishable News Notes Bakery Hi-Temp Wheel from Magnus Mobility

Perishable News Notes Bakery Hi-Temp Wheel from Magnus Mobility

Orange, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/09/2012 -- A strategic partnership arrangement has been formed between DiCandia Route, the Italian manufacturer of this hi-temp wheel, and Magnus Mobility Systems Inc.

In the current issue of Perishable News, Bakery Highlights, the publication notes that hi-temperature RTH wheels are needed most in the food processing industry and these unique wheels and casters allow for Operating Temperature Ranges of -40°C (-104°F) to +260C (+500°F).

VP Sales
Magnus Mobility Systems, Inc.
Telephone: 800-858-7801
Email: Click to Email Jonathan Cuyler
Web: http://www.magnusinc.com
