Witty Movie Summary Wins Scott Tucker a Prize

Scott Tucker's witty take on 'The Sound of Music' caught peoples attention and now the newspaper plans to make the contest an annual event.

Seattle, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/26/2012 -- The Seattle Times recently ran a contest asking their readers to write a 'Silly Movie Summary' and thanks to entrant Scott Tucker's witty take on 'The Sound of Music' the newspaper now has plans to make the contest an annual event.

Tucker's entry of 'former nun finds child care job, annoys new boss with her singing' came a close 3rd behind 'Lawman reluctantly goes to train station while fiancee stays home' for 'High Noon' and overall winner 'Dog won't stay in yard' for 'Lassie'.

Thanks to Landmark Theatres, the top three summaries won complimentary movie tickets as prizes, and after the newspaper was flooded with entries, the popularity of the contest has now resulted in the paper saying it has plans to try to turn the contest into an annual event.

According to Seattle Times arts writer Paul de Barros' recent article the paper "had so much fun with this, and so did readers, we hope to make it an annual affair". He went on to say in the article that "We can't wait till next year, when we hope to launch the second annual 'Silly Summary' contest."

In what appears to be nothing more than a bit of lighthearted fun the paper mentioned other entries they liked but didn't quite make the top three.

The summary that got the ball rolling was spotted by Seattle Times Weekend Plus editor, Melissa Davis when she noticed that the summary for 'Casablanca' listed in the daily TV picks was 'Cafe owner Rick helps an old flame and her husband escape from the Nazis in Morocco.' After reading that summary and laughing she thought maybe the readers might like to do the same, and she was right!

Mountain Bike Race Planner Scott Tucker Expecting Big Crowds

Scott Tucker, co-organizer of the 2012 Diamondback Northwest Downhill cup mountain bike race series in Port Angeles,is thrilled that April has arrived.

Port Angeles, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/25/2012 -- The co-organizer of the 2012 Diamondback Northwest Downhill cup mountain bike race series in Port Angeles, Scott Tucker is thrilled that April has arrived and the weather looks good for the new season.

With the first three legs of the Northwest Cup scheduled to take place on the aptly named 'Dry Hill' mountain track over the next six weeks he is expecting big crowds.

Tucker recently told The Peninsula Daily News that "We are fortunate that we have the only track available at this time of year." He went on to add that "There is no other place to ride."

This season is the fifth season of mountain bike races on Dry Hill and thanks to the low elevation the course tends to attract riders and spectators from farther afield as the low elevation ensures the course is snow free when others are still covered in ice and snow.

According to Tucker the favorable conditions on Dry Hill has even attracted riders from the World Cup Circuit. He told The Peninsula Daily News that "We have the same kind of tracks they use on the World Cup Circuit, so this is a good training zone for them [as they wait for the World Cup Circuit to open for the season." Large crowds are expected at Dry Hill and that can only be good news for the Port Angeles area.

Choral Arts Society Names Scott Tucker As New Artistic Director

Scott Tucker is leaving a 17 year tenure at Cornell University to join the Society and in a statement released by the Choral Arts Society the outgoing Scribner heaped high praise on the man who will replace him for the 2012-2013 season.

Austin, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2012 -- The Washington DC based Choral Arts Society recently named Scott Tucker as the new artistic director who will replace Norman Scribner who is retiring at the end of the year. Scribner, now 76 announced he was planning to retire back in August 2010 and after a long search the board of directors last week named Tucker as successor to the man who founded the choral Arts Society back in 1965.

Scott Tucker is leaving a 17 year tenure at Cornell University to join the Society and in a statement released by the Choral Arts Society the outgoing Scribner heaped high praise on the man who will replace him for the 2012-2013 season, stating "It is a joy for me to welcome Scott Tucker as the new artistic director of Choral Arts. Scott's gifts are manifold, embracing an intense natural musicality, a consummate technique, a fabulous ear, a vast reservoir ok knowledge and experience in virtually all periods and styles, together with a clear vision for the future of music in our own time. With his superb communicative skills bringing all these gifts, Scott's appointment heralds a brilliant new era in the Choral Arts Society's pursuit of excellence in the choral arts. Welcome Scott".

Scott Tucker recently told the Washington Post that 'I was craving a new adventure, a new challenge." He went on to add that "Conducting is educational, no matter who you are working with, even in the professional world. My students at Cornell are not music majors. They're very bright, motivated students who see music as a release, more than anything, but who bring to it such passion and intelligence. Tucker went on to add that 'I don't see that as being so different than the Choral Arts Society."

The board of directors spent over a year searching for Scribner's replacement and the search became an international search with the Society receiving nearly 80 applications for the much renowned position. Scott tucker was one of four finalists who came into work with the 170 member amateur chorus this season as part of the selection process. The board voted unanimously to confirm tucker's appointment and in a statement released by the Choral Arts Society, chair of the board Barbara Rossotti said that " The Board believes Mr. Tucker will succeed in building on the legacy and high standards of our beloved founder, Norman Scribner, by taking the choral Arts to the highest of artistic levels and international regard."

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web: http://www.choralarts.org/

Scott Tucker Moves Gallery Into Yonkers' Expanding Arts District

Scott Tucker has moved his ISC Studio gallery into the YoHo Artist Studios in Yonkers, NY. giving Yonkers' expanding YoHo arts community a welcome boost ahead of the 9th annual YoHo open studio tour which takes place later this month.

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2012 -- Photographer, painter, and Sculptor Scott Tucker has moved his ISC Studio gallery into the YoHo Artist Studios in Yonkers, NY. giving Yonkers' expanding YoHo arts community a welcome boost ahead of the 9th annual YoHo open studio tour which takes place later this month.

Scott Tucker and his partner Tracey Brookes have relocated their ISC art and design studio from Brooklyn into the YoHo Artists Studio on Nepperhan Avenue which is housed in the old Alexander Smith carpet mill building.

Scott Tucker's move means the YoHo Artists Studio now has its first permanent gallery and The Heights Real Estate Co., owners of the historic old carpet mill building are hoping that the move will help bring more artists and galleries into Yonkers' art community. George Huang from The Heights Real Estate Co. recently told The Journal News' website lohud.com that "We feel this is a milestone in the evolution of YoHo, it's the natural progression and evolution of an arts district."

The Heights Real Estate Co. has already shelled out nearly $1 million investing in the renovation of the historic building, which now has 50 lofts and Scott Tucker plans to use the new space for a variety of purposes, namely for ISC's main offices, a production workshop for his furniture line and of course a display area for his and Tracey's artwork. Tucker told The Journal News' website lohud.com that he was attracted to Yonkers due to the space it offered them, and he went on to add that "We liked the idea of a growing arts culture in Yonkers and Westchester as a whole'.

Scott Tucker also plans to use some of his new 4,000 square foot space to showcase art exhibits and offer educational programs separately his production area. After purchasing the former carpet mill building in 2005 owners The Heights Real Estate Co. are hoping the that Yonkers can follow in the footsteps of other post industrial New York City neighborhoods like Chelsea by becoming known for their arts communities. The 9th annual YoHo artists open studios takes place on April 21st & 22nd at the Alexander Smith Carpet Mills building, 540/587 Nepperhan Ave, Yonkers NY.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web: http://www.yohoartists.com/

Big Dreams for Langham Creek Soccer in Houston

With the district championship up for grabs coach Tucker is wishing the Lobos can finally make their mark in the play offs the first time since 2009 when they tied for the district championship.

After the 3-1 victory over Cy Woods a week ago head coach Scott Tucker told The Cypress Creek Mirror that "This game right here guarantees us no worse than a co-championship, it really put pressure on the teams chasing us because we've kind of been the front runner most of the year." Even though the Lobos are making it through to the post season 5 team play offs for the last six seasons there wasn't much for the Lobos to shout about when it comes to success in the play offs, and that is something head coach Scott Tucker wants to address.

When talking about falling at the first hurdle of the play offs in recent years, Langham Creek Lobos head coach Scott Tucker told the Cypress Creek Mirror that "There's a lot bigger task at hand than we're trying to get. Six consecutive years of making the postseason and the last five, we've gone out in the first round. We're trying to get something bigger than that." The Lobos have a great chance for winning the district championship though, but in order for them to clinch the championship they will need to depend on The Cy Ridge Rams stumbling.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Susan Richman
Email: Click to Email Susan Richman
Web: http://inspirationalsportsstories.com/

Warm Weather Has Marina Sales Manager Scott Tucker Smiling

Scott Tucker has been full of smiles as the unusually warm weather has meant lots of boating enthusiasts have been getting out on the water much earlier than anyone expected.

Springfield, IL -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2012 -- At the Lake Springfield Marina, in Springfield, IL. sales manager Scott Tucker has been full of smiles as the unusually warm weather has meant lots of boating enthusiasts have been getting out on the water much earlier than anyone expected. With the boats coming out of storage so much earlier this year many more people are coming to the marina which means business is booming at the marina. When asked about boaters taking to the water so much earlier this year Tucker recently told the Springfield based State Journal-Register that "You might as well get out and use your boat while the weather is nice. And people have definitely taken advantage of it."

Even though gas prices continue to rise it doesn't seem to have put boaters off taking to the water to soak up the early springtime sun, and with unleaded boating gas at $4.49 a gallon Scott Tucker is doing all he can to keep gas prices low for boaters at the marina, he recently told the State Journal-Register that "We just got a new shipment in, it's not in our interests to scare people off the water, so we are trying to keep the price down as much as we can."

Most recreational boaters traditionally kick of the boating season on Memorial Day weekend, so the recent warm weather in central Illinois means that it's not just the recreational boaters who have enjoyed an early start this year, fishermen have barely had an off season this winter which is more good news for the marina. Tucker told the State Journal-Register that "We definitely had an early start to the year. Our slips did not officially open until the first (of April) but we started pulling boats out of storage about four weeks ago".

All the activity at the marina and on Lake Springfield means that there have been many smiling faces with boats coming out of storage, receiving tune ups and being prepared for the water, and Tucker is hoping the weather stays good for the rest of the season, telling the State Journal-Register that "There's plenty of room to run around on Lake Springfield.'

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Susan Richman
Email: Click to Email Susan Richman
Web: http://www.lakespringfieldmarina.com/

Scott Tucker Wins 3rd Place in Silly Movie Summary Contest

The Seattle Times received more than 560 emails with Scott Tucker's summary for 'The Sound of Music' being one of the most popular movie choices with 21 new summaries.

Seattle, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- Scott Tucker's hilarious movie summary of 'The Sound of Music' - 'Former nun finds child care job, annoys new boss with her singing' was last week selected in 3rd place by the Seattle Times in a contest to find the best silly movie summary, and now the newspaper is hoping to make the contest an annual event as it proved to be popular and successful.

The newspaper invited readers to start sending in their own 'silly movie summaries' last summer for a laugh after a copy editor noticed that the summary listed for 'Casablanca' was 'Cafe owner Rick helps an old flame and her husband escape from the Nazis in Morocco.' Scott Tucker's entry came in a close 3rd behind 'Dog won't stay in yard' for 'Lassie' and 'Lawman reluctantly goes to train station while fiancee stays home' for 'High Noon'.

Thanks to the generosity of Landmark Theatres, the contest winners will receive complimentary movie tickets as prizes, Bonny Brinkley won 10 tickets for her 'Lassie' summary, Sid Schwab won 6 tickets for his 'Nigh Noon' summary and our personal favorite, Scott Tucker's new summary for 'The Sound of Music' wins him 4 tickets.

The Seattle Times received more than 560 emails with Scott Tucker's summary for 'The Sound of Music' being one of the most popular movie choices with 21 new summaries. Because the feature generated so much interest the newspaper now plans to make the silly movie summaries an annual event. Other films that received multiple new summaries from readers were 'The Wizard of Oz' with 88, 'Star Wars' with 24 and 'Lawrence of Arabia' with 22.

The Seattle Times' movie critic Moira McDonald had the challenging task of selecting the winning summaries, and even came up with a special prize for the movie which had the most entries, 'The Wizard of Oz' had a prize just for silly new summaries and the winner of that category was Paul Shattuck, who won 2 tickets for his witty new summary - 'Lackadaisical farmhand Dorothy refuses to relinquish stolen shoes to the sister of a tornado victim'.

Scott Tucker Is Key to Ottawa Hills Hopes for New Season

As the new Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) high school baseball season gets under way, Ottawa Hills Green Bears

Madison, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- As the new Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) high school baseball season gets under way, Ottawa Hills Green Bears will be looking at a promising young infielder and pitcher Scott Tucker for inspiration as they attempt to stop two time defending champions Northwood Rangers from sealing a third consecutive title. Ottawa Hills (16-15, 7-3) have lost all of their pitchers to graduation but long time coach Chris Hardman believes the Green Bears should be sound defensively and quick on the base paths thanks to Scott Tucker's ability to defend.

Scott Tucker, a junior (IF/P) had a 2-2 record with a 3.89 ERA and if the Green Bears are to stop the Rangers from winning their 3rd successive TAAC title, Tucker's pitching skills will likely have a big say in where the title ends up come the fall. Coach Hardman, who this season enters a remarkable 32nd year as coach of the Green Bears recently stated that the biggest question mark will be where the pitching will come from.

With some already impressive stats to his name, the Green Bears will be hoping Scott Tucker can answer Coach Hardman's question about where the pitching will come from. Hardman went on to add that the kids have worked hard to be good. After reaching the States semi-finals last year, Hardman talked of his Green Bears being favorites this year. According to Hardman you have to give the nod to the defending champs, Hardman went on to add that he thinks he'll have a pretty good team.

The Green Bears will have six seniors back and will welcome six starters, and along with the promising Scott Tucker, good things will no doubt come from senior Adam Moreau (SS/P) an All-TAAC 1st teamer who batted .398 with 20 RBI. Hardman further talked about the Green Bears' chances this season, according to Hardman we are always the favorite, but we haven't won the league in three years. With Toledo Christian expected to be strong again this year the TAAC looks like it's going to have three serious contenders for the league title in 2012.

Mountain Bike Race Organizer Scott Tucker Is Glad April Has Arrived

This is the fifth year of racing on Dry Hill and according to race organizer Scott Tucker there is no other place to ride.

Port Angeles, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2012 -- Downhill mountain bike racers will be flocking to Port Angeles, WA. during the next few weeks as the Northwest Cup Series gets under way. The cream of downhill mountain bike racing crop will be heading to the peninsula as the first three rounds of the 2012 Northwest Cup Presented by Diamondback are all held on Dry Hill, Port Angeles throughout April and May.

This is the fifth year of racing on Dry Hill and according to race organizer Scott Tucker there is no other place to ride, Tucker went on to add that they are fortunate that they have the only track available this time of year. It's not only local riders who will be coming to Dry Hill for the start of the season and the North West Cup, in addition to the North West Cup entries, there will be four riders who regularly compete on the World Cup Circuit visiting Dry Hill to get an early season tune up.

Scott Tucker went on to add that we have the same kind of tracks they use on the World Cup Circuit, so this is a good training zone as they wait for the World Cup Circuit to open for the season. There will be many visitors to the peninsula over the next month or so accompanying friends and family who are riding in the races; they will be in for a treat when they witness the outstanding natural beauty of Port Angeles.

The Dry Hill course also attracts many riders from further afield because the low elevation means there usually isn't any snow on Dry Hill come early April. Although there was some snow last week Scott Tucker was happy to see that it didn't hang around for long, adding that the snow and ice don't stick around long at this time of year, though. Even though most racers don't enjoy the snow, nearly every single one of them loves the mud, and even though the track is famously named Dry Hill, we doubt it will be dry for some time.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web:

Former Carpet Mill Becomes YoHo's First Permanent On-site Gallery

Scott Tucker along with his partner Tracey Brooke moved their expanding ISC Studio a week ago from Brooklyn into the YoHo artists co-op which was formerly a carpet factory on Nepperhan Avenue.

Scott Tucker a painter, sculptor and photographer relocated his art and design company from Brooklyn to the former Alexander Smith carpet mill in Yonkers as he was fascinated by the space that the historic old building offered. Tucker's new 4,000 square foot base for his ISC Studio will house the brand new office headquarters for ISC as well as a production workshop for Tucker's 'Raunjiba' furniture line, as well as a gallery display area for Scott Tucker and Tracey Brooke's artwork. The pair will plenty of space to promote and direct educational events and art exhibits separately from their main production area.

The Heights Real Estate Co., owners of the former carpet mill, bought the building in 2005 and has invested near to $1 million remodeling it and adding 50 lofts. It is hoped that Yonker's post industrial evolution into a rapidly growing arts community can replicate what has happened in other post industrial New York neighborhoods like Chelsea. After the ribbon cutting Scott Tucker talked about how he missed Brooklyn but was fascinated by Yonkers as it gave them the opportunity to almost triple their production space.

Tucker went on to state that they liked the idea of a growing arts culture in Yonkers and Westchester overall. Tucker went on to include that this gives them an opportunity to work from the ground floor in a non saturated industry.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web: http://www.yohoartists.com/

2012 Key Players for The Toledo Area Athletic Conference

Austin, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2012 -- The Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) high school baseball season gets under way, Ottawa Hills Green Bears will probably be taking a look at a promising youthful infielder and pitcher Scott Tucker for motivation while they attempt to stop 2 time defending champions, Northwood Rangers from sealing a third consecutive title. Ottawa Hills (16-15, 7-3) have lost all their pitchers to graduation but long time coach Chris Hardman believes the Green Bears ought to be sound defensively and quick on the base paths as a result of Scott Tucker's power to defend.

Scott Tucker, a junior (IF/P) had a 2-2 record with a 3.89 ERA and if the Green Bears are to stop the Rangers from winning their 3rd successive TAAC title, Tucker's pitching skills will probably have a big say in where the title ends up. Coach Hardman, who this season enters a remarkable 32nd year as coach of the Green Bears, recently stated that the greatest question mark will be where the pitching will come from.

With some already notable numbers to his name, the Green Bears will be hoping Scott Tucker can answer Coach Hardman's question about where the pitching will come from. Hardman went on to add that the kids have worked hard to be good. After getting to the States semi-finals a year ago, Hardman spoke of his Green Bears being favorites this year. According to Hardman you have to give the nod to the defending champs, Hardman went on to add that he thinks he'll have a top notch team.

The Green Bears are going to have 6 seniors back and will welcome 6 starters, and in addition to the promising Scott Tucker, positive things will no doubt come from senior Adam Moreau (SS/P) an All-TAAC 1st teamer who batted .398 with 20 RBI. Hardman further discussed the Green Bears' chances this year, according to Hardman we are always the favorite, but we have not won the league in three years. With Toledo Christian expected to be strong again this year the TAAC looks like it's going to have 3 serious contenders for the league title in 2012.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web:

The New Artistic Director Of The Choral Arts Society

Austin, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2012 -- Scott Tucker has been named as being the brand new artistic director of the Choral Arts Society, Tucker will succeed Norman Scribner, 76, who's retiring at the end of the year, forty-six years after he started the chorus. After Scribner announced his intention to retire back in August 2010, the Society begun their quest for a successor which ended up turning into a demanding international search that drew close to eighty applicants. Each one of the 4 finalists this season came in to work with the 170 member amateur chorus and chair of the board. Barbara Rossotti was impressed with Tucker as soon as she witnessed his 1st rehearsal, proclaiming that Mr. Tucker's rapport with the singers was evidence by their instant and encouraged response to his direction.

Despite the fact that Scott Tucker is a fairly unknown name in Washington; the musician, conductor, teacher and composer arrives from Cornell University where he has been the Choral Director since 1995. Throughout a 17 year tenure at Cornell he commissioned over 30 works and premiered works by composers such as Augusta Read, Carol Barnett, David Conte, Ernani Aguiar, and Bernard Rands. Tucker also offers a large experience of setting up large scale symphonic works.

Scott Tucker, 55, is retiring from his tenure at Cornell University to be able to take the position of Artistic Director at the Choral Arts Society and after news of his appointment came out, Tucker reported that he was craving a new adventure and a new challenge. Tucker went on to add that conducting is educational no matter who you are working with, even just in the professional world. While at Cornell University Scott Tucker directed the Men's Glee Club and the Women's Chorus and overseeing the activities of the Cornell Chorale, Chamber Singers and Sage Chapel Union. Scott Tucker also offers experience in world music, having took a sabbatical year in South Africa learning traditional African music written from a local musician. Before his time at Cornell, Scott Tucker was an assistant conductor at Harvard University.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web: http://www.choralarts.org/

Warmer Weather Kicks off Boating Season Early for Scott Tucker and the Marina

Madison, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2012 -- Sales director, Scott Tucker of the Lake Springfield Marina in Springfield, IL. has been excited about the unseasonably warm temperatures as the early onset of spring means business is booming at the marina. The incredibly mild winter season and the recent higher temperatures have resulted in boaters, fisherman and watersports fans taking to the water much earlier than they generally do which is great news for the marina. Scott Tucker recently commented that their slips did not formally open until the 1st of April, however they started pulling boats out of storage four weeks ago.

Tucker went on to add they have definitely had an early start to the year. Boating lovers have Memorial day weekend marked on their schedules as the start of the boating season, however, busier parking lots for the past a couple of weekends have resulted in increasingly more boats being moved from storage to the slips. The current spike in fuel prices doesn't appear to have much of an effect as the folks of central Illinois have taken to the water in great numbers.

According to Scott Tucker you may as well get out and use your boat while the weather is nice, and this has meant the fishermen of central Illinois have hardly had an off-season this winter. Tucker went on to add that they have had 15-20 boats in their slips for a couple of weeks now. Most boating fans are fully aware that it takes more gas to power a boat through water than it does to drive a car down the street but the abundance of small lakes in central Illinois suits fisherman this means they only have to run for a few minutes to find a good spot to fish for hours.

With still nearly 8 weeks until the traditional start of boating season, marina sales manager Scott Tucker continues to be unseasonably busy as boaters have been getting their boats tuned up and serviced as they make the most of the early start to spring. Commenting on his busy showroom, Tucker stated that if the season stays like it has so far, it's a great chance to stay near home without having to travel far for recreation. With warm weather in the forecast for central Illinois, it seems that everyone at Lake Springfield is going to be thrilled before we even get to Memorial day.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Alan Murphy
Email: Click to Email Alan Murphy
Web: http://www.lakespringfieldmarina.com/
