Mountain Bike Downhill Racers Invade Port Angeles for the Northwest Cup Series

The even started last Friday and go through on Easter Sunday.

Lenexa, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2012 -- Recently, mountain bike downhill racers started to invade the Port Angeles to join the Northwest Cup Series. The even started last Friday and go through on Easter Sunday.

Instead of going on Easter egg hunts, Clallam County visitors visited Port Angeles to see the beginning of the Northwest Cup Series. They went there to get dirty with their mountain bikes on Dry Hill. It is actually a race course that is located on the west part of Port Angeles. This is the fifth consecutive year of racing on Dry Hill.

The even started on Friday and it will go through Sunday, which is Easter Sunday. Though a lot of people decided to celebrate by Easter Egg Hunting, most of them went to Port Angeles to watch and participate on the Northwest Cup. They plan to continue this next summer so for the people who failed to watch and participate on the much awaited Northwest Cup; they can get their selves ready for next year.

The event has drawn a lot of spectators on the event considered as the most exciting race on the Peninsula. The first three races on the Cup Series are actually set for the North Olympic Peninsula.

At least 300 racers from the Pacific Northwest and probably around the globe together with their families all gathered on the Easter Weekend races. According to Scott Tucker, the co organizer of the event, they are very lucky to have the only track available this time of the year. He said that there is no place to ride than Dry Hill.

Tucker also said that there are other riders from the Word Cup Circuit who used the course last weekend aside from the Northwest Cup racers. He said that they are using the same kind of track used on the World Cup Circuit so it will be a good training for the bikers who want to pursue a career on the field.

Basically, Port Angeles was filled with a lot of visitors last weekend. The families, riders, supporters and friends stayed on the area during the race weekend. According to Tucker, most of the visitors stayed 3 to 4 days during the race weekend. He said that aside from the race, Port Angeles is a beautiful place to visit. He said that they saw a couple from Montana who stayed on the place four days before the start of the race weekend.

It is also said that all the other tracks are still under the snow so the best place to consider this biking event is on Dry Hill. The location actually attracts a lot of top racers around the world because of its low elevation. According to Tucker, snow does not stick around during this time of the year. The snow easily dries off from the area so it is one of the best places to perform the event.

The weekend was a big success and a lot of bikers participated together with their family, friends and supporters. They are now looking forward for the next year's event.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Scott Tucker
HomeandRecreation.org
Telephone: 386-547-6364
Email: Click to Email Scott Tucker
Web: http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20120405/news/304059993/outdoors-dry-hill-downhill-mountain-bike-races-begin-friday-in-port

ISC Studio Moves from Brooklyn to YoHo Artist Studio in Yonkers

ISC Studio obtained its first gallery as it tries to expand and attract more artists on the city.

Lenexa, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- ISC Studio, an art co-op housed in a former carpet factory, moved from Brooklyn to a YoHo Artist Studio in Yonkers. ISC Studio obtained its first gallery as it tries to expand and attract more artists on the city.

Scott Tucker and Tracey Brooke decided to move their company to a 4,000 square foot space at YoHo Artist Studio in Yonkers. The main goal of the moving is to expand and attract more artists who wanted to show their talents. The YoHo Artist Studio performed a ribbon cutting for ISC Studio last March. According to George Huang of the Heights Real Estate Co. and the owner of the building, ISC will handle the first permanent on-site gallery in Yoho. It is said that more than 50 studio tenants can display their work regularly.

Tucker and Brooke move their company to encourage more artists to show their talents by presenting some of their work of arts. It is a good way to promote and to build awareness about arts and designing.

Basically, Huang is looking forward to the on-site gallery on his building. He actually pointed to the historic arrival of artists. He also said that he wanted to have galleries in post-industrial New York City neighborhoods like Chelsea. According to the statement of Huang, they feel that this is one of the milestones in the evolution of YoHo. He said that it is like a natural progression and evolution of an arts district. This new opportunity is opened to the district making it possible for them to build a new arts district.

The Heights purchased the former Alexander Smith Carpet mill way back in 2005 and they invested almost $1 million on the construction of the said building. According to Huang, it contains 50 lofts and they are now expecting another expansion to increase another 25 later this spring.

The new 4,000 square foot headquarters of ISC at YoHo includes a display area for Tucker and his partner Tracey Brooke's artwork, offices and a production workshop for the "Raunjiba" furniture line of Scott Tucker. The couple will be the ones to manage, handle and promote various events at the new gallery which includes quarterly art exhibits as well as educational programs.

The couple spent eight years in a carriage house located in the Carroll Gardens Section of Brooklyn. According to Tucker, he and Brooke decided to transfer to Yonkers because they were attracted to the place which enables them to triple the size of the production space.

Based on the statement of Tucker, they liked the idea of growing arts culture in Westchester and Yonkers as a whole. He said that he really missed Brooklyn but this new place gives them the opportunity to work from the ground floor in a place considered as a non saturated market. On April 21 and 22 this year, YoHo will host its much awaited ninth annual "Open Studios" exhibition. It will allow the public to take a tour on the different workspaces of about 30 artists.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Scott Tucker
HomeandRecreation.org
Telephone: 386-547-6364
Email: Click to Email Scott Tucker
Web: http://www.yohoartists.com/

The Choral Arts Society Announces the Successor of Norman Scribner in the University Choruses

Norman Scribner will be retiring at the end of the season from the chorus that he created 46 years ago.

Lenexa, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- The Choral Arts Society announced that Scott Tucker will succeed Norman Scribner to lead the University's choruses. Norman Scribner will be retiring at the end of the season from the chorus that he created 46 years ago.

Scott Tucker is actually the choral director at Cornell University since 1995 and he will be retiring on his tenured position to lead the university choruses after Scribner steps down from his spot. According to Tucker, 55, he was craving for a new adventure and a new challenge in his life. The new position will take effect at the start of the 2012 – 2013 seasons.

Based on the statement of Tucker, Conducting is educational no matter whom they are working with even with professional people. He said that his students at Cornell may not be considered as music majors but they are bright and motivated students who see music with passion and intelligence.

Basically, Scribner announced his retirement last August 2010. It means that he is working on his last season. Tucker is one of the four finalists who came on the season to work together with the 170 members of the amateur chorus. The successor as the leader of the university choruses can also be considered as an international one with almost 80 applicants. Tucker is one of participants without any connections inside.

According to the statement of Debra Kraft, the executive director of Choral Arts, it was a big surprise for them. She said that it came from a source that they did not expect. She spoke after hearing the unanimous and rapid confirmation of the announcement that Tucker will succeed Scribner.

It is said that Tucker had everything that will make him a great leader. He has a lot of experience in fundraising and commissioning new work. He actually commissioned around 30 new pieces when he was still in Cornell which includes some of the works of Augusta Read Thomas, Libby Larsen and Chen Yi. Tucker also spent a part of a sabbatical year in South Africa. He tried to learn some traditional music by rote.

Tucker has a huge respect towards Scribner. The Choral Arts Society was found in 1965. It has already worked with the National Symphony Orchestra conductors as well as other leading personalities on the music industry like Mstislav Rostropovich, Valery Gergiev and Christoph Eschenbach.

There are also a lot of chorals that came to a big change on the previous years. During these times, Scribner wanted to have a smooth transition. Even if he wanted to have a smooth procedure, he did not participated on the decision making process and he allowed the other officials to decide. According to Kraft, it is really wonderful and reassuring to everyone to know that Scribner had his blessing but he did not interfere on the procedure to make it fast and smooth. She said that it is like a parent watching a child in choosing whom to marry.

Scribner made a statement saying that it is a big joy to welcome Tucker as the new artistic director of the Choral Arts. He said that with the talents of Tucker, he can make a difference on the Choral Arts and provide a wider knowledge to the members.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Scott Tucker
HomeandRecreation.org
Telephone: 386-547-6364
Email: Click to Email Scott Tucker
Web: http://homeandrecreation.org/

Central Illinois Boaters Start Water Weeks Early This Spring

The boating season started earlier than expected because of the warm weather.

Lenexa, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- Central Illinois boaters started to take the water weeks early this spring because of the high fuel prices. The boating season started earlier than expected because of the warm weather.

Because of the warm weather and the concerns of high fuel prices, central Illinois boaters started the water weeks earlier. According to Scott Tucker, the sales manager of the Lake Springfield Marina, people have taken advantage of the warm weather and they brought out their boat while the weather is nice. It is said that during the winter season, Fishermen barely had an off-season. This is the reason why a lot of people especially the fisherman have been very conducive in getting out, based on the statement of Steven Poe, the owner of Eastside Marine.

The Marina Parking lot is already one of the indications that the water weeks started early. Two weekends ago, the lot was still full and according to Tucker, last Sunday was also a busy day. Basically, Memorial Day weekend is considered as the beginning of the boating season but this even is almost two months away.

Tucker said that they had an early start this year. He said that they already started pulling the boats from their storage about four weeks ago. He also said that they had around 15 to 20 boats on their slips for a few weeks. Basically, the amount of boats on the slips is nowhere near the actual capacity but according to Tucker, more boats are coming out of the storage and a lot of people are getting ready to start early.

It is also said that the warm weather helped the business of local boat dealers. Since the boating season started early, the mild winter has been helpful to the marine industry, based on the statement of Poe. He also said that the gas prices stayed with $4 before so he said that the $4 price does not have a huge impact this time. It means that the people are less affected on the increase now since the price stayed on $4 for a long time before. However, it is also said that more fuel is needed for a boat to move on the water than to drive a car on the highway.

Poe said that there are already a lot of advances in the technology to make boat motors more efficient but it is said that more fuel is still needed. He said that getting five miles on a single gallon when using a boat is already a good sign.

According to Poe, fuel is not a big problem if the fisherman will be boating or fishing on central Illinois since they only need to travel short distances. He said that on smaller lakes, the people only need five minutes to travel and they can already fish for many hours.

According to Tucker, unleaded gasoline for boats is steady at $4.49. The people decided to start the water weeks early because they are afraid of possible increase on the price of gasoline on the following weeks.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Scott Tucker
HomeandRecreation.org
Telephone: 386-547-6364
Email: Click to Email Scott Tucker
Web: http://homeandrecreation.org/
