With 10 laps to go, Macri was battling with Scelzi for third as Brown began to creep up on the rear of the field with Borden in tow. Clinton, MO -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/06/2021 -- Wise had to outrun National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jac Haudenschild during the closing circuits to do so. It was Wise's first Attica Raceway Park victory triumph and his first All Star victory since scoring $26,000 in Kokomo Speedway's in late May.

Haudenschild hung on to finish second in the Attica Ambush opener, the only non-All Star within the top five, followed by Skylar Gee, Spencer Bayston, and Hunter Schuerenberg.

Although Wise was the man on top on lap 35, the "Steel City Outlaw" Tim Shaffer was the man in charge for much of the 35-lap contest, leading the first 27 circuits from the outside-pole position.

Shaffer set a solid pace, but it was not without challenges, as Buch Motorsports' Justin Peck did his best to outduel Shaffer on many occasions, showing his nose multiple times between laps 16 and 19. Traffic was a factor between laps 11 and 16, but a pair of cautions on laps 17 and 19 cleared the track for Shaffer.

Unfortunately for Peck, any hope for victory came to a halt on lap 24, as a flat tire, discovered while awaiting clean up for a red flag incident, forced the Coastal Race Parts No. 13 to go to the work area.

Meanwhile, Wise, who started fourth, was already on the move, battling by Jac Haudenschild for third at the midpoint before working by Peck for second on lap 23. The lap 24 restart would allow Wise to get a run on Shaffer and show the Aliquippa, Pennsylvania-native his nose, but another red flag incident on lap 27 would halt Wise's potential.

Determined to get past, Wise repeated his pass attempt the following restart, eventually sliding Shaffer between turns three and four to take the lead on lap 28. The main event's final caution would appear on lap 30, this time for Tim Shaffer, who ultimately slowed due to mechanical issues.

From that point forward, it was all Wise at the front of the field, withstanding late race pressure from Haudenschild before stretching his legs in the final three circuits.

Clinton, MO -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/13/2021 -- A late afternoon rain shower delayed the start of the program by two hours, a fiery multi-car crash gave way to a rejuvenated Brian Brown holding off hard-charging Kyle Larson for the $12,000 victory.

It was Brown's third preliminary night victory during the Nationals and his 55th at the legendary half-mile racetrack, and it was an emotional one at that.

Brown started fourth in a 25-lap feature that just couldn't get going. Extremely slow starts led by polesitter Sam Hafertepe Jr. saw the field become seriously bunched and led to a pair of violent accidents during the early going.

After a yellow flag when Shane Stewart slowed on the track, a slow restart led to Parker Price-Miller running over the tire and wheel of T.J. Stutts and launching head-on into the first turn fence. Price-Miller, who has had numerous concussions during his career, climbed from his car.

Brown charged to second behind Hafertepe on the restart and as the field headed into turn three to complete lap two, Carson Macedo made an ill-advised move under Paul McMahan that sent both into the wall, turning McMahan's car upside down.

The fuel cell was knocked from Macedo's car, and it burst into fire as Kerry Madsen, Max Dumesny and Sammy Swindell were collected in the accident.

"The hole closed up faster than I thought it would," Macedo said. "One hundred percent my fault. I take full responsibility."

After a lengthy red flag for cleanup, Brown wasted no time on the restart, blasting to the bottom of the track and grabbing the lead from Hafertepe.

"I had a good opportunity to think about the situation on that red," Brown explained. "I knew I would be good no matter what he did on that restart, I was doing the opposite. I went to the bottom and got under him and after that I just kind of set sail."

Hafertepe used the Tuesday event as a shakedown session for the upcoming 360 Knoxville. In pursuit of teammate Dylan Westbrook, lapped traffic brought the Nitro 54 Variety No. 47x within striking distance on lap 14. Hafertepe led to the checkered flag, finishing 1.945 seconds ahead of Westbrook.

"It's tough for Dylan because when I got to him, he hadn't seen anyone the entire race, so it's hard to gauge if the top or bottom was better," Hafertepe said. "If he stayed low, I was screwed because it was a tick better. You could use the top to get around lapped cars if you needed to.
