ESI Waste/City of Leesburg Issue Tips for Latex Paint in Dumpster Rentals in VA

Liquid latex paint is considered hazardous waste, the City of Leesburg, VA, has announced, but solidified paint is generally not. Leesburg partners with ESI Waste to dispose of latex paint via dumpster rental in VA.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/31/2018 -- The City of Leesburg has reminded business and homeowners not to dispose of liquid latex paint, according to a statement by the City Department of Public Works. This reminder comes shortly after a messy accident occurred in the city when one resident improperly disposed of several cans of unused paint.

The incident happened while a rear-loading garbage truck was collecting waste from a residential neighborhood, according to city officials. They report that a local homeowner disposed of several cans of paint by dropping them into the regular curbside container without solidifying the contents first. When the trash was dumped into the back of the truck and the compactor began crushing the contents, the paint cans exploded under pressure. Authorities report that no one was hurt, but splashes of orange paint contaminated the rear of the truck, much of the street around the vehicle and workers, who were reportedly covered with the hazardous material.

Disposing of Paint in a Dumpster Rental in VA

Nearly every community in Virginia considers liquid latex paint a hazardous material, according to the Leesburg Public Works authorities. As a result, neither the city nor private collectors like ESI Waste are allowed to pick it up unless it's been rendered safe prior to their arrival.

City experts advise that solid latex paint is not treated as a hazard, since when it's in this form it can't splash or contaminate surfaces. Once the paint has been hardened, it is safe to collect normally or to dispose of in a dumpster rental in VA.

To solidify paint, experts recommend thickening the fluid with some kind of inert bonding agent. This can be a commercial paint thickener, which is often available at hardware stores, or generic clay-based kitty litter. To thicken the paint, add the litter slowly and stir until it's completely suspended in the paint. Keep adding litter or thickener until you can no longer stir the contents of the can, then let it sit overnight to harden. Residents are advised that this process adds significant bulk to the contents of the paint cans, so an extra container might be needed to hold it all.

The city warns that oil-based paint does not harden in this way. Leesburg officials state that oil paints remain hazardous until rendered safe at a processing plant and therefore cannot be safely collected. Residents are encouraged to deliver hazardous waste such as this to designated local facilities.

The Adopt-a-Highway Program Needs Dumpster Rental in VA

Large amounts of litter are making a mess of Virginia’s highways, and the cleanup efforts are taking a toll on state and local resources. This has motivated some authorities to try innovative new approaches, while volunteers find it helpful to schedule dumpster rentals in VA.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/23/2018 -- Virginia's highways are strewn with litter, and the situation is only getting worse, according to state authorities. As local blogger Lisa Provence reports, volunteers in the Adopt-a-Highway program are having a hard time keeping up with the seemingly endless stream of litter dropped on their stretches of road.

The Adopt-a-Highway program is one of the government's most successful efforts to keep trafficked areas relatively clean and free from potentially dangerous litter. The program parcels out short stretches of state highways and delegates responsibility for cleanup to volunteers, many of whom are local residents and business owners, retired senior citizens and civic groups like the Boy Scouts of America. Other sections of highway are maintained by jail inmates, many of whom have been convicted of relatively minor offenses and who pick up litter on weekends to meet their public service requirements.

These efforts have been strained lately, however, as a seemingly endless stream of trash has found its way to the sides of Virginia's public roads. This increase in volume has put strain on the usual mechanisms for keeping the roads clear, and even paid laborers report removing several tons of garbage from local thoroughfares on each trip.

Authorities have some options for dealing with the flow of trash. Inmates in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail are often drafted into service on the side of the road, where they pick up and bag trash in exchange for credit toward their court costs and fines. Local businesses that wish to have their names displayed on roadside signs can apply to the Virginia Department of Transportation and take part in at least two cleanups in a limited time frame before the state will provide the signage. This is a good investment for many local companies, though renewals are uncommon.

Private residents are having more trouble with their cleanup efforts. Many residents, frustrated with the seeming inability of the state to keep up, can check out safety gear, such as orange vests and gloves, from their local VDOT office. Most report filling several 30-gallon bags with trash on each trip, and disposing of it all is getting to be an issue for some.

Organizing a joint dumpster rental in VA can be a realistic solution to the disposal problem volunteers are facing. By renting a 10- or 20-yard container and then arranging to have it delivered to a safe spot not far from the pickup site, volunteers can get the satisfaction of doing their part for the community without the hassle and expense of a trip to the landfill on their own.

Recent Study Reveals 9 in 10 Americans Have Access to PET Recycling

A recent study commissioned by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition reveals that more than 9 in 10 Americans have access to some kind of PET recycling, which should come as welcome news to both businesses and consumers interested in promoting the practice.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/23/2016 -- Recently, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition commissioned Resource Recycling Systems and Moore Recycling Associates to investigate the accessibility of PET recycling for Americans. It turns out that 92 percent of Americans had access to some kind of PET recycling, which is comparable to aluminum beverage can recycling, but higher than either glass beverage bottle recycling or paper carton recycling. As a result, both businesses and consumers interested in recycling their PET bottles, jugs, and jars should be heartened to realize that doing so might be easier than what most of them had suspected.

In short, PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, which is a kind of plastic that sees use in a wide range of products, including but not limited to bottles, jugs, and jars used for storing beverages. As a result, making sure that these products are recycled as much as possible is important because most PET products are not bio-degradable, meaning that it can be expected to take up limited space in landfills for a long time to come. This study shows that most Americans have access to the recycling facilities needed to recycle PET products, meaning that with only minimal effort, Americans will be able to help the environment, one PET product at a time.

With that said, there are complications that could make this process more challenging than it sounds. For example, while 92 percent of Americans have access to some kind of PET recycling, it is important to remember that not all access can be considered the same. To elaborate, the same study revealed that 73 percent had access to curbside recycling while 64 percent had access to drop-off recycling, leaving 6 percent with no access to PET recycling whatsoever. Since curbside recycling is much more convenient than drop-off recycling, this is a significant hurdle for both businesses and consumers that are interested in recycling as much of their PET bottles, jugs, and jars as possible.

For that matter, there are also other complications as well. For example, some interested individuals might not know their local rules regarding how their PET waste should be sorted, which can complicate matters for both them and their local recycling facilities. Furthermore, other interested individuals might not have the tools needed to support PET recycling, which is more of a problem for businesses than for consumers. Fortunately, there is a simple solution to these complications in the form of skilled and reliable waste disposal companies such as EnviroSolutions, which exist to help their clients take care of their waste-related problems while also lessening their impact on the planet.

Composting Is Becoming a Critical Component of Green Lawn Care

The rising importance of environmentalism is convincing more and more homeowners to make the switch to green lawn care practices. One such example is composting, which ensures that lawn clippings, as well as other organic forms of waste are transformed into something useful.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/12/2016 -- The warm weather means that the grass has started sprouting, which in turn, means that homeowners have started spending more and more time on their lawns, to provide them with the care and maintenance that they need to look their best. However, the rising importance of environmentalism in the public consciousness is convincing more and more homeowners to adopt green lawn care practices. One particularly common example of green lawn care practices is composting, which helps with not just green lawn care, but also other green initiatives.

In short, composting means using natural processes to turn lawn and other organic forms of waste, into compost. This is a useful soil amendment that can produce respectable benefits, when used in the right manner. Theoretically, it's a simple process, however, it is important to note that the natural processes that decompose organic waste into compost can be remarkably finicky, meaning that effective and efficient composting is something that comes with extensive practice.

Still, many homeowners are finding that the results are well worth their time and effort. After all, composting gives them a way to take care of their lawn clippings ,as well as other forms of organic waste, without having to resort to using garbage cans. This will reduce the number of unwanted pests being attracted to the garbage cans, as well as eliminate the smell of decomposition, which is particularly important if the garbage sit out in the hot summer sun day after day. As a result, composting is beneficial not just because it reduces the amount of waste that will be sent to the landfills, but also because it will benefit both homeowners and the surrounding communities.

With that said, some homeowners are interested in composting, but are either unable or unwilling to put in the time and effort needed to practice composting on their own. Fortunately, more and more waste disposal companies such as EnviroSolutions Inc. are offering collection services for lawn clippings as well as other forms of organic waste, so that they can be turned into compost at their facilities. In this way, homeowners will be able to improve the environment, even if they don't have the time required to follow green practices like composting.

Go Green This Summer Vacation

In recent times, more and more people have recognized the need to protect our environment, making it no coincidence that green travel has become more and more popular as well.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/20/2016 -- The rising importance of protecting the environment in the public consciousness has caused a wide range of changes in how people live their lives, with an excellent example being the recent rise of green travel. Like its name suggests, green travel means traveling while also striving to minimize the environmental impact from traveling, thus balancing personal rest and relaxation with a commitment to shared responsibilities.

With that said, it is interesting to note that green travel is as diverse in nature as green travelers. For example, some green travelers choose to travel by putting their trust in specific travel agencies, which provide them with assistance in choosing green modes of transportation, staying at green accommodations, and spending their money on attractions that will spend part of their earnings for environmental conservation as well as other green initiatives. In contrast, other green travelers prefer to put a more personal touch on their travel plans, whether this means choosing to visit someplace more local or making sure to practice recycling as well as other green initiatives even while they are on their summer vacations.

Regardless, the rise of green travel agencies as well as other travel businesses that specialize in catering to green travelers, suggests that the trend is here to stay. Furthermore, considering that protecting the environment is becoming more and more important as shown by the 177 countries that agreed in December of 2015 to cooperate in order to combat climate change as well as its effects on the world, it seems probable that green travel will become even more popular as time passes. However, it seems probable that successful green travel will continue to need would-be green travelers to take their own initiative, which might take considerable time and effort but will nonetheless prove to be worth it.

For normal, everyday life, environmentally conscious people have a variety of ways to minimize their impact, whether that means turning off lights as soon as they enter the room or choosing EnviroSolutions Inc in order to assist in large scale and small scale projects.

More and More Places Are Switching over to Single-Stream Recycling

More and more places in the United States are choosing to use single-stream recycling as a way of encouraging people to recycle more and more of their recyclable waste.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/12/2016 -- Since its introduction in the 1990s, single-stream recycling has started seeing more and more use because of a number of advantages over its multi-stream counterpart. One example is its increased convenience, which makes it that much easier to convince people to recycle their recyclable waste. However, it should be noted that single-stream recycling has other benefits as well, which contribute much to its mounting momentum.

For people who are unfamiliar with the concept, single-stream recycling means that all recyclable waste is put in the same recyclable waste containers, which are collected by waste disposal companies for sorting at their recycling facilities. This is in contrast to multi-stream recycling, which uses multiple recyclable waste containers for multiple kinds of recyclable waste so that it is send to the recycling facilities in a pre-sorted state. Since all of the recyclable waste containers are the same under single-stream recycling, there is no need for people to puzzle over where their recyclable waste should go, thus removing that particular obstacle to their choice to recycle. Better still, the lack of a need for multiple recyclable waste containers at each location means that the freed-up resources can be used to put more of them in more locations; thus, ensuring even more ease for people who are considering whether to recycle or not.

However, it should be noted that increased compliance with recycling initiatives have benefits for the businesses pushing them as well. For example, increased compliance with recycling initiatives means less waste, which can be beneficial for a business's profits as well as its public image, which in turn, can be beneficial for its profits. Furthermore, it should be noted that single-stream recycling makes matters less complicated for businesses by shifting the responsibilities for sorting the recyclable waste onto their waste disposal companies, which is perhaps its one great appeal.

As a result, businesses that are interested in the potential of such a system should seek out waste disposal companies such as EnviroSolutions, which possesses the expertise, the experience, and the equipment needed to ensure the right results when asked to assist with its implementation. After all, they have already worked with a wide range of clients under a wide range of circumstances, meaning that they already know what will work and what will not work, thus saving businesses the need to figure out those things for themselves.

US and China Issue Joint Statement on Paris Climate Deal

The US and China have issued a joint statement regarding their intentions to sign the Paris climate deal on April 22, which will have important implications for US businesses as well as their counterparts all around the world.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/05/2016 -- Since the US and China are the two biggest economies on the planet, it should come as no surprise to learn that they are the two biggest polluters on the planet in absolute terms as well. As a result, the two countries faced significant pressure at the Paris climate conference that was held in December of 2015, which resulted in a successful climate deal between them as well as 193 other countries. Now, the US and China have issued a joint statement that they will sign the Paris climate deal on April 22, which will have enormous consequences for them as well as all of the signatories.

In short, the Paris climate deal ended with the recognition of a number of important issues. First and foremost, the signatories announced their intention to keep the degree of global warming below a maximum of 2 degrees Celsius, which is about 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit, so as to minimize its impact on the world. Second, the signatories announced that they will compile and publish regular reports about their efforts to combat harmful emissions so that they can be held accountable by all of the stakeholders, which include all of the people in the world. Finally, the Paris climate deal included the recognition of the need to prepare for the consequences of climate change, which will likely include assistance from developed countries to developing countries without developed countries actually taking blame for having contributed most of the greenhouse gases that are currently in the atmosphere.

However, it is important to note that while the Paris climate deal promised much, it contained little in concrete details by which the signatories will honor to their promises. In fact, concrete details to be left to future climate conferences, which are still some time away. By announcing their intention to sign the Paris climate deal on April 22, the US and China are taking a leading role in its implementation. Something that is particularly true because they have also announced their intention to implement the initiatives necessary to achieve their aims, which are expected to be both extensive and wide-ranging in nature.

For US businesses, this is important because they can expect an increase in their environmental obligations as the US intensifies its efforts to bring climate change under control. As a result, forward-thinking businesses should start thinking about how they can improve their recycling programs as well as other corporate citizenship initiatives with the assistance of waste disposal and management specialists such as EnviroSolutions.

US Is One of the Biggest E-Waste Offenders

The increasing use of electronics has resulted in more and more e-waste being sent to the landfills, with the United States in the lead. This is a serious problem because e-waste contains useful materials that can be recycled as well as hazardous materials that can seep into their surroundings.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/10/2016 -- Electronics have become more and more popular over time, meaning that it should come as no surprise to learn that e-waste has become more and more common as well. In fact, a 2015 UN report claimed that a staggering 46.1 million tons of e-waste was tossed into landfills in 2014 while a mere 7.2 million tons was sent-in for recycling. Of the 46.1 million tons, the United States led the list of countries at 7.8 million tons, followed by China, Japan, Germany, and India in that order. It is worth noting that the United States produced a total of 3.5 million tons back in 2008, meaning that the problem is becoming more and more serious over time.

The low recycling rates for e-waste is particularly problematic because it contains huge amounts of recyclable materials. For example, the same UN report estimated 18.2 million tons of iron, 2.1 million tons of copper, and 331 tons of gold to have been locked up in those 46.1 million tons of e-waste. On its own, those 331 tons of gold would have been worth $11.2 billion, but when combined with the other recyclable materials, that estimate rose to $52 billion. Given those numbers, recycling e-waste is not just the ethical but also the pragmatic choice.

At the same time, it is worth mentioning that some of the materials found in e-waste makes it as hazardous as it is valuable, whether it is tossed into the landfills or burned up in the incinerators. For example, mercury is a powerful neurotoxin that is particularly dangerous for both breastfeeding and pregnant women because of its negative impact on the development of the central nervous system. Even worse, mercury is known to build up in food chains, thus raising its risks for species at the top.

With that said, considering the complexities involved in disposing of e-waste in the right manner, it is understandable but not justified that so many people are choosing to toss it out rather than send it in for recycling. Fortunately, there is a simple solution in the form of waste disposal companies such as EnviroSolutions, which possesses both the expertise and the experience needed to get it done right while also minimizing their clients' involvement in the process for maximum ease.

Pollution Is Contributing to Antibiotic Resistance

Pollution is contributing to the problem of rising antibiotic resistance in harmful microorganisms, which is making some of our most important medical tools less and less useful. For both businesses and consumers, this is a reminder to make sure that waste is handled in the right manner instead of being tossed out whenever and wherever it is most convenient.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/15/2016 -- Pollution puts a wide range of pollutants in the shared environment, which results in a wide range of consequences. One example is how countless species of harmful microorganisms are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics, which is an enormous problem because we are reliant on them to protect ourselves as well as keeping a number of important economic sectors running in a smooth and uninterrupted manner. Although pollution is not the sole cause of the problem of rising antibiotic resistance, it is nonetheless a serious one.

How this happens is simple. In short, the careless handling of waste can introduce antibiotics to the environment, at which point, it will start interacting with the microorganisms living therein. The microorganisms with the most natural resistance will make up most of the survivors, meaning that they will also be the ones to pass their genes onto the next generation. Over time, sufficient repetition of this cycle can make entire populations of microorganisms resistant to the antibiotics that they were exposed to as well as other antibiotics that work in a similar fashion. If said microorganisms are harmful to humans, exposure can cause them to spread to said individuals as well as the healthcare facilities that treat them, thus creating further problems for our perpetually strained healthcare system.

Even more troubling, there is reason to believe that pollution can contribute to rising antibiotic resistance even when antibiotics are not one of the pollutants. In short, an ecologist at the University of Georgia conducted recent studies of the streams at the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site on a suspicion that non-antibiotic pollutants were contributing to the problem. He discovered high levels of antibiotic resistance in streams that had never been exposed to antibiotics but had been exposed to metals such as cadmium and mercury. Furthermore, he was able to rule out exposure to antibiotics via defecating animals because the high levels of antibiotic resistance were found in streams known to have been exposed to the metals but not in streams with no such exposure. While these results are not enough to prove that non-antibiotic pollutants are contributing to the problem of rising antibiotic resistance in harmful microorganisms, they are nonetheless pointing in that direction.

For both businesses and consumers, this is a reminder of the importance of making sure that waste is handled in the right manner. Those who are unsure should not hesitate to contact waste disposal specialists such as EnviroSolutions for their expertise and experience so that they can do the right thing for the right results when it comes to the shared environment.

Initiative Recycles Oyster Shells to Restore Oyster Population

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation has teamed up with a number of partners to encourage the recycling of oyster shells, which will be used to create new oyster beds. This is but one of the many ways that food waste can be put to productive use by people with the right know-how, which is something that should interest eco-friendly businesses.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/14/2015 -- The need to recycle food waste is becoming more and more prominent in the public consciousness as more and more recycling initiatives are launched. One example is the Oyster Recovery Partnership, which is a collaboration between the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, and other interested parties meant to encourage the recycling of oyster shells. For eco-friendly businesses, this is a reminder that reinforces the need to recycle their food waste, particularly by consulting a waste disposal company such as EnviroSolutions, Inc. with the relevant expertise and experience.

Once recycled, the oyster shells are used to create new oyster beds as a means of bolstering the oyster population in Chesapeake Bay as well as other bodies of water in the region. This is possible because oysters start their lives as free-swimming larvae but need either oyster shells or something similar to serve as a substitute once they become big enough to start settling down. First, this is because they need a source of calcium carbonate for use in building their own protective shell. Second, this is because they need something to cling to, which is both big enough and strong enough to keep them from sinking into the mud at the bottom of the ocean. Given these criteria, it is no coincidence that oyster shells make the best choice, combining both efficacy and efficiency in a single, all-nature package.

This is an important initiative because the oyster population in Chesapeake Bay as well as other bodies of water in the region has been plummeting for decades and decades. In main, this is because of over-harvesting, but other causes range from environmental changes to a fall in the number of oyster shells that is making it harder and harder for oysters to flourish in their natural habitats. Since oysters are an important part of their ecosystems, this is causing a number of serious problems, including some that threaten human well-being. For example, the absence of oysters means that algae is booming, meaning that local communities are being forced to spend more and more on their sanitation to make sure that their water remains safe to use.

By making sure that their oyster shells reach one of the collection containers being put out by the Oyster Recovery Partnership, eco-friendly businesses can contribute to the recovery of coastal ecosystems. Similarly, eco-friendly businesses can contribute to other worthwhile causes by making sure that all of their food waste is disposed of in the right manner. For those who find the prospect daunting, they should consult a skilled and experienced waste disposal company such as EnviroSolutions, Inc., which can provide them with the solutions to their problems while also providing valuable assistance with implementing said solutions.

EnviroSolutions Inc., Big Run Landfill's parent company, recently announced its plans to build a clean energy facility by the end of the year 2016.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/14/2015 -- The Big Run Landfill in Ashland, Kentucky, operated by EnviroSolutions, Inc. for over eight years is a waste removal company operating on nearly 1600 acres. Big Run's gas collection system was improved due to an investment of nearly $10,000,000 in May, when the number of vertical wells and collection points nearly doubled, thus tripling gas capture yields and reducing odor levels. However, landfill gas is still currently being destroyed by high-energy flares, pending the construction of a clean energy facility. This state-of-the-art facility at the Big Run Landfill waste removal company is due to convert gas produced by the landfill into clean energy, specifically renewable natural gas. EnviroSolutions' CEO, Dean Kattler, views the change as a welcome endeavor to 'support the landfill's operations well into the future'.

According to EnviroSolutions' Facebook page, the company will collaborate with Enerdyne Power Systems, a landfill gas (LFG) specialist, on the construction of a multi-million-dollar facility to produce an amount of natural gas that's likely to provide heat for 10,000 homes. It is estimated that the project will save an amount of CO2 emissions equivalent to that found in as much as 47 million gallons of gasoline. Captured gas will be processed by an on-site plant specifically built for the collection, treatment and upgrade of landfill gas into pipeline grade natural gas. Using a new pipeline, the resulting high BTU gas will be fed into local gas lines and used by businesses and residents. Mr. Gary Hewes, Vice President of Operations, is optimistic in terms of going forward with the project, given the fact that recent results show a rise in the amount of gas pulled into the flare. Hewes is confident that he can count on local support in light of the above-average gas collection yields. In an attempt to improve its impact on the community, the company also launched a recycling program whereby residents could drop off their trash without the inconvenience of sorting recyclable items. This is one of the CEO's first projects, set into motion just weeks after having joined the company.

EnviroSolutions, Inc. Seeks to Reduce the Amount of Food Waste Entering Virginia Landfills by Educating Residents

In September 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced a new plan to reduce food waste from restaurants, food manufacturers and others by 50 percent, by 2030. EnviroSolutions, Inc. is helping individuals have an immediate impact on how much food waste enters Virginia landfills by educating area residents.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/14/2015 -- In September 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced a new plan to reduce how much food waste restaurants, food manufacturers and other companies send to landfills. The plan aims to reduce the total amount of food waste going to landfills by 50 percent. Changing the industry will take time, though -- the EPA's and USDA's plan hopes to achieve its goal by 2030. EnviroSolutions, Inc., which manages landfills in Virginia and other states, is helping individuals make a more immediate impact.

While individuals might not have as large an impact on how much food waste is produced as restaurants and food manufacturers do, EnviroSolutions, Inc. believes they can have a significant impact. "If every resident that sent trash to one of our Virginia landfills reduced their food waste by just a small portion, the total impact would be significant," one representative from the company said.

EnviroSolutions, Inc. has several suggestions for residents who are interested in limiting their environmental impact by reducing the amount of food waste they have, and all of the company's suggestions are simple. They recommend reorganizing refrigerators, purchasing dry items in bulk, opting for local produce, composting, setting refrigerators to 39 degrees Fahrenheit and becoming familiar with the meanings of "sell by" and "use by" labels.

The representative said EnviroSolutions, Inc. was glad to see that the EPA and USDA had a plan for reducing how much food waste will be coming to the company's landfills, but they also want people to know that individuals can make a significant difference. "We're glad there's a plan in place to help companies by 2030, but individual people can make a difference right now -- the next time they open their fridge," they said.

ESI to Develop New Clean Energy Project at Big Run Landfill

State-of-the-Art Facility Will Convert Landfill Gas Into Renewable Natural Gas

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/31/2015 -- Plans are now underway to develop a new, state-of-the-art clean energy facility at Big Run Landfill that will convert gas produced at the landfill into renewable natural gas, EnviroSolutions (ESI), owner of Big Run, announced today.

Enerdyne Power Systems, a company that specializes in utilizing landfill gas (LFG) as a renewable fuel source, will work with ESI to construct the multi-million dollar facility that, at the landfill's current gas collection rate, will produce enough natural gas to heat approximately 10,000 homes and save the annual equivalent CO2 emissions of 47 million gallons of gasoline.

Gas captured by Big Run's landfill gas collection system will be directed to a new, on-site gas plant where it will be processed, treated and upgraded to high BTU, pipeline-quality natural gas. A new pipeline will be installed to allow the renewable natural gas to be fed directly into local gas lines already in place and used by area residents and businesses. The clean energy facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2016.

In May, ESI completed a massive, engineered construction project that significantly improved the gas collection system at Big Run. The system now includes 70 vertical wells (up from 49) and 128 collection points (up from 70). Gas capture has increased 330% since December of 2014, as more than 3,000 standard cubic feet of gas per minute of landfill gas is now being controlled and drawn through the system, significantly reducing gas odor. Until the new clean energy facility comes online, collected landfill gas will continue to be destroyed by high-efficiency flares.

"The enhanced and expanded landfill gas system at Big Run has significantly improved our gas collection efficiency and helped to reduce the migration of gas odor," said Dean Kattler, ESI's CEO. "With a robust gas system in place that will support the landfill's operations well into the future, we look forward to partnering with Enerdyne Power Systems to create a facility that will allow for the beneficial use of landfill gas as a renewable energy resource."

Speedy Dumpster Asks Residents of Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland to Keep Dumpster Lids Closed

It has been a rough spring in the Northern Virginia and Washington D.C., area. With record rainfall and more wet weather on the way, Speedy Dumpster recommends all customers with rented dumpsters; keep the lids closed to make sure the receptacles don't collect water.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/28/2015 -- Speedy Dumpster has seen an increase in weight when emptying onsite dumpsters. The drivers attribute this increase to heavy rains accumulating inside the dumpsters. They want to warn customers and dumpster renters to keep lids on the dumpsters closed when it is raining during work hours and always close lids at the end of the workday. This will result in lighter weights within the receptacles.

Another contributing factor to increased dumpster weight that results from the additional spring rainfall happens when materials discarded from remodels and construction materials absorb water, thereby making the dumpsters heavier. The heavier the dumpsters load, the harder Speedy Dumpster trucks and drivers have to work.

Aside from rain accumulation in dumpsters with open lids, it is easy for animals, such as stray cats, rodents, raccoons, and other animals to fall into dumpsters, or crawl into them, looking for shelter from inclement weather, or if they are seeking a warm place to sleep. Drivers and other Speedy Dumpster personnel don't want these animals dumped into their trucks, as it poses imminent danger to them and the animals.

So as a precaution all customers that currently rent or plan to rent a Speedy Dumpster container are asked to please check the dumpsters often and always keep the lids closed. This will result in lighter loads, and less chance of damaged equipment, as well as help improve safety for drivers and personnel.

Dumpster Rental Company Galaxy Transfer Provides Dumpster Rentals That Make Cleaning out Dorms Easier

Galaxy Transfer, a dumpster rental company, provides dumpster rentals for college students. These rentals are low cost and are able to be placed at any location.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/27/2015 -- As college students head home for summer, they have a lot of trash that needs to be thrown out. Working out a dumpster rental with Galaxy Transfer can help universities cope with the increase in garbage during May and June.

The garbage that college students need to dispose of during move-out week can easily overwhelm the school's waste management systems. Although a single student may not produce much trash, thousands of students cumulatively have a lot to dispose of. Few universities have the infrastructure, including garbage cans and trucks, to handle this annual influx of trash.

Renting dumpsters, however, makes handling the garbage easy for everyone -- students and universities alike. A dumpster rental gives students a specific location to put their garbage, and some students will have fun tossing in large objects and hearing them crash. For universities, outsourcing garbage removal to a dumpster rental company like Galaxy Transfer takes the strain off of the school's system. When renting a dumpster, colleges don't need to worry about whether they have enough garbage cans out, or pay their employees to keep checking and emptying them.

In many cases, a dumpster rental may cost less than paying employees to take care of students' trash. Galaxy Transfer can provide specific estimates for schools near Manassas, which they can then use in their own cost analysis. Every situation is slightly different. In many cases, however, it makes sense for colleges to outsource their end-of-semester garbage needs to a dumpster rental company.

Waste Management Company Speedy Dumpster Urges Dumpster Rentals for Spring Remodeling Projects

Speedy Dumpster, owned by EnviroSolutions, Inc. recommends renting dumpsters to discard materials used during spring and summer 2015 remodeling projects, to ensure all waste is out of harm's way for homeowners, remodeling crews, and the public.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/29/2015 -- Homeowners and businesses are busy planning and preparing for the onslaught of spring and summer remodels on their property. Often, they forget the amount of trash these projects produce. Garbage accumulates quickly. There are the discarded old items that need to be thrown away prior to the remodel, but also excess materials from the construction process can tend to leave owners with a mess to clean up. Renting a receptacle from Speedy Dumpster will save not only time, but also it will save money, and it is environmentally responsible.

Speedy Dumpster, an EnviroSolutions, Inc., company rents a variety of dumpsters, to residential and commercial endeavors. Different sizes, 10, 15, 20, and 30-yard dumpsters, make it easy to rent the right size for the job. Get rid of renovation, roofing, and construction materials has never been more accessible. Customers can rent the correct size to fit their waste needs.

Keeping a worksite area neat and picked up helps maintain safety, not only for the work crews involved, but also for owners, and the public. Lawsuits can get expensive and are a headache that no one wants. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are approximately 150,000 construction site accident injuries a year. Many of those are related directly to negligence on the part of someone else, or hazardous safety conditions. A number of accidents involving fall accidents are the result of tripping over materials.

Speedy Dumpster has the answer to those accident numbers; dumpster rental to throw away materials and other trash that collects during the project. LEED is the USGBC's ranking system for the construction and design of high-performing, energy-efficient buildings.
The LEED rating system consists of four ranks – certified, silver, gold and platinum. These levels are consistent with the number of credits earned in five green design categories. The five categories are:
1. Water efficiency

Dumpster Rental Company Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters Celebrates Second Anniversary with EnviroSolutions, Inc.

Dumpster rental company Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters, a division of EnviroSolutions, Inc., celebrates its second anniversary with EnviroSolutions, Inc.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/16/2015 -- Dumpster rental company Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters is excited to celebrate its second year as part of EnviroSolutions, Inc.'s waste management family. Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters became part of EnviroSolutions, Inc. in 2013. Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters wanted to increase its commitment to environmental responsibility, reducing carbon footprints, and green waste management. They currently provide several sizes of commercial dumpsters to prominent fields, including medical, construction, landfill waste management, restaurants, and hospitality businesses.

Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters has also spent the past two years committed to building relationships with individuals. Though their commercial dumpsters are appreciated, their residential dumpsters help individual homeowners become more environmentally responsible. Their dumpsters come in sizes ranging from 10-40 yards and can hold everything from paper items to glass, and even the winter debris owners get from trees and dead brush. Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters workers assist customers in their cleanup, as well. Customer relations can sometimes be difficult in some areas, such as in northern Virginia, due to the abundance of small towns and rural customers who may not have access to large businesses or the latest in waste management. Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters has transcended that obstacle, building rapport with customers in difficult-to-access areas across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic, including the areas of Manassas, Alexandria, Staunton, and Falls Church, among several others. Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters is a veteran of the Better Business Bureau, with stellar ratings.

Looking ahead, Galaxy Transfer Dumpsters expects to make huge strides in the dumpster rental business as it continues to be a part of the EnviroSolutions, Inc. division.

Waste Management Company EnviroSolutions, Inc. Reports on Cooking in the Kitchen: Ways to Dispose of or Reuse Your Food

Much of the American food supply goes uneaten. Simple planning and conservation activities can help American families waste less food and save more money.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/16/2015 -- On June 2013 the USDA and EPA announced a joint partnership aimed to reduce food waste. Calling on both the public sector and private industry, they launched the United States Food Waste Challenge. This was a nationwide effort to reduce, recover and recycle food waste. EnviroSolutions, Inc., a waste management company that serves Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., offers some insight into food waste management.

From farms to grocery stores to the dinner table, approximately 30 to 40 percent of the American food supply is never eaten. People purchase more than they eat and they discard edible food because they don't know what else can be done with it. Most people don't even realize how much they waste food-wise, let alone the financial impact wasted food has on their pockets.

Families can reduce their food waste with careful planning and recycling practices. The typical American family tosses 14 percent of the food it buys every year. This amounts to nearly $600 per year spent on food that is never eaten.

Reducing waste and reusing food is environmentally friendly and economically beneficial for everyone. Reducing food waste helps limit methane emissions from landfills. It conserves energy by preventing the pollution associated with the growing manufacturing and transporting of food. In addition, donating untouched food before it goes to waste can feed the hungry and needy.

Another solution to reducing waste is to recycle it. Composting food helps reduce the amount of food that ends up in landfills. Composting household food waste can be easy, requiring little time and effort, and can be invaluable for garden soil or potted plants. There are three main composting systems: worm composting, conventional composting and organic material composting. Aside from composting there are other handy uses for food scraps. For example, banana peels can be used to shine shoes and egg shells to clean the garbage disposal.
