Industry Level Music & Film Group is a private entertainment company specializing in licensing and content distribution. It's most recent collaboration is a film featuring Ice T & Scarface titled "The Ghetto".

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/25/2014 -- In its latest aggressive pre-buy to line its slate with star-driven pictures, B-Squared Entertainment, has a month before the Toronto Film Festival, closed a deal to acquire international rights to "The Ghetto", the gritty street drama feature that stars Scarface, Ice T, Tyrin Turner and De'aundre Bonds.

It was directed by respected helmer Manzie Jones, an emmy nominated producer, whose previous directorial credits include Buried Alive and Paranoid Activity 2. The film was expected to be one of the hot titles for domestic and international distribution at the upcoming TIFF market that starts September 4th. The deal was made by B-Squared Co-CEO's Mark Berry & Frank Blenman in association with Ian Martin at Industry Level Music & Film Group. It is a commitment for a wide release inclusive of broadcast internationally.

Based on the Scarface and Manzie Jones script, three childhood friends - B, 3D, and Moose, played by Scarface, De'aundre Bonds, and Tyrin Turner respectively - grow up in the inner city of Los Angeles. B turns his ability to organize and recruit to the drug trade when the local drug dealer is shot and killed. B has all the skills needed to thrive and never one to shy away from violence, B turns his neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods into his own personal empire.

As a grown up, B thrives, until a new player starts to muscle in. The new drug kingpin is named Victor, played by Ice T. Victor pushes his drugs into B's neighborhoods and upsets the status quo. B attempts to push Victor back out of his neighborhoods without resorting to violence, but his attempts fail. Now it's time for all-out war. As tit-for-tat violence escalates between the feuding gangs, it becomes apparent that only the man willing to abandon everything he cares about will remain standing.

Mr. Mark Berry said, "Manzie and Scarface have made a bold, epic, and emotionally generous saga, once again showing a master's hand in eliciting searingly beautiful performances from the actors with whom they collaborate."

Industry Level Music Group Explains when to Hire a Entertainment Lawyer

Industry Level Music Group is a private talent development firm that seeks talented artists and actors to represent at major music labels and film companies. Industry Level is made up of ex-music/film executives and A&R’s who posses the knowledge and relationships to negotiate multi-million dollar recording and or film deals.

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/19/2014 -- When navigating through all the twists and turns that the music industry has to offer, artists sometimes feel that hiring an entertainment lawyer should be the most secured bet. Having an entertainment lawyer to represent the artist or band to a label sometimes isn't the right answer. Most labels do not respect a lawyers' opinion on talent. It's very common to hear a band or solo artist say that they are being "shopped" to labels by an attorney. Most of the time a deal never materializes and for these reasons:

1.) The lawyers that "pretend" to be music executives do not contain the ear or experience in choosing talent. Music executives "normally" do not rely on lawyers for new talent. This is the A&R's job to do research for the executives.

2.) Lawyers always want to be "retained" or paid up front to shop an artist or band to labels that he or she has relationships with. Shopping an artist for a deal should not cost the artist a penny. If a lawyer, A&R, music executive believes in the artist than they will shop their music for free. Labels are constantly looking for new talent and products to push.

There is an upside to having an entertainment lawyer usually for "relationships" and "legal" knowledge. When an artist is approached by a record label and is offered a recording contract/endorsement deal/licensing deal/publishing deal etc, the entertainment lawyer is their best friend for his/her legal knowledge, language interpretation and relationships in negotiating them the best possible deal. When the contract hits the table...that is when the artist/band should pick the phone up and call the best entertainment lawyer in the business. The lawyer should have relationships and experience with dealing with the legal departments for Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group.

If you are having a hard time finding a credible lawyer, Industry Level Music Group can provide you with good references for entertainment attorneys.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Sarah Vargo
Marketing
Industry Level
Email: Click to Email Sarah Vargo
Web: http://twitter.com/industrylevel

Industry Level Music Group Bring Legitimacy to Music Business

Industry Level Music Group is a private talent development firm that seeks talented artists and actors to represent at major music labels and film companies. Industry Level is made up of ex-music/film executives and A&R’s who posses the knowledge and relationships to negotiate multi-million dollar recording and or film deals.

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/30/2013 -- Almost half way through the year 2013 and Industry Level Music Group has already started to collect talented artists to shop to major labels. Extensively searching the internet, club scene and talent shows by talent scouts, new up and coming talent are brought to ILMG to be vetted out by their top A&R's. An A&R at Industry Level must have at least 6 years experience in the recording industry and come attached with strong referrals.

The talent discovered who is ready for the big leagues immediately is shopped around and a deal brokered giving Industry Level a 20% commission fee. Talent that is not so ready may be given an invitation for a development deal or any other custom strategy to help the artist move in the right direction. Industry Level's main goal is to bring legitimacy to the music business. "We want to show the artist how it's really done", says A&R Ian Martin. "Everyone thinks they can become entertainment stars by listening to the radio and watching MTV, it takes practice, hard-work, and there is a little bit of a science when it comes to breaking a new artist".

Industry Level Music Group is continuing to search for star-studded talent and boasts a 50% success rate in shopping artists (which apparently is great in the music business). "Obtaining a record deal is one of the hardest things on Earth to accomplish," A&R Sean Davidson argues. "We put the artist in the best possible position to win, and if a major label is not ready to play ball at the moment, the artist will be able to survive just on his/her music alone with our strategies".
Industry Level Music Group reviews up and comings artists for a chance to be pitched in front of Major Record Companies i.e. Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Sony Music Group.

Industry Level will be partnering with credible music producers like Swizz Beatz, Fatboi, Hitboy, DJ Mustard, and Dr. Dre in order to help up and coming artists achieve Industry standard music.

"Our main problems are artists who lease beats from online websites. Artists main problems are affording professional production and not having connections to obtain it. When an artist doesn't own their master recording or their production isn't strong enough....it can blow a pitch", says head A&R Sean Davidson. "We are partnering with credible producers to try and help up and coming artists fix their production issues". Industry Level hopes this partnership will fix a lot of problems and allow them to sign more acts in 2013.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Sarah Vargo
Email: Click to Email Sarah Vargo
Web: https://twitter.com/industrylevel

Industry Level Music Group Explains the Top Ten Mistakes Artists Make

Industry Level Music Group is a private talent development firm that seeks talented artists and actors to represent at major music labels and film companies. Industry Level is made up of ex-music/film executives and A&R’s who posses the knowledge and relationships to negotiate multi-million dollar recording and or film deals.

New York City, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/30/2013 -- If artists want to become successful in the music industry, there are many things they need to know and do. But even if they get all that right, they can prevent themselves from reaching big success by making critical mistakes along the way (and there are many potential mistakes one could make, when not being careful). After coaching and mentoring many musicians and bands seeking a career in music, the same patterns of false assumptions, problems and mistakes appear over and over again. Here are the top 10.

Mistake #10 - Artists not having a compelling image that is congruent with their music. Most musicians (and bands) severely underestimate the importance of their image. Yes, music is about 'music', but music business success is about a total package that includes music, image and visual stage show among other things that need to be fully developed in a congruent way.

Mistake #9 - Trying to 'get your name out there'. Although this seems to be a main goal of most musicians and bands, it is the wrong approach to start with. Before trying to be seen and heard as much as possible, it is often more important to focus on 'converting' the people who hear and see the artists into becoming actual fans. This 'conversion' is the first key to their promotional success, NOT getting seen or heard as much as possible.

Mistake #8 – Believing that social media websites are the keys to online music promotion for musicians and bands. Social media websites are a tool. They are ONE piece of the online music marketing puzzle. Music industry companies (record labels, artist managers, booking agents, etc.) are far more interested in the popularity of THEIR website, not how many friends you have at MySpace, YouTube, Facebook or any other website that you do not own and control. If artists want to impress the industry with their band's promotion, They need to build their website traffic.

Mistake #7 - Not investing enough time into building their music career. Most musicians spend most of their time on music, but put very little effort into the many other critical elements needed to make it in the music business. If they are already a talented musician, they should invest at least 50% of their time into starting or advancing their music career. If they are still developing their musical skills, they should still invest around 25% of their 'music' time into building a future music career.

Mistake #6 - Surrounding yourself with people who are negative, lazy and lack ambition. If an artist is very serious about becoming a professional musician and building a great career in music, then they should absolutely must surround themselves with like-minded musicians.

Mistake #5 – Having merely mediocre live performing skills. Many musicians, who are not yet in a good band, put off developing their live performing and stage presence skills. This is a big reason why talented musicians don't get into really good bands that they audition for. Their music may be good, but a live 'show' requires more than great music. If people only wanted to hear the music, they would listen to them at home. Both fans and record labels want (and expect) to see a REAL show. Neglecting this area results in talented musicians and bands becoming quickly forgotten.

Mistake #4 - Focusing on increasing the 'quantity' of fans instead of the 'intensity' of their fans. The 'number' of fans they have should always be their secondary focus (not their primary one) if they want to become successful in the music industry. The fact is, it is not the number of 'fans' that matters most, it's the number of FANATICS which will contribute more directly to their success (or lack of it). This is particularly true in the beginning of a band's music career. Focus more effort on converting their existing fans into raving fanatics. Learn to do this and the number of your overall fans will increase through powerful word of mouth.

Mistake #3 – Not enough cash flow to support their music career. Like it or not, it takes money to build a music career. Even if other people/companies are paying for the record, tour support, merchandise, etc. Artists still need to have the freedom to pursue opportunities as they come. Sadly, many musicians miss opportunities because they can't afford to take advantage of them. In addition to a decent income, they also need the flexibility of being able to take time away from that income source to go into the studio, go on tour, etc. That is why learning how to teach guitar is such a great way to achieve both if they learn how to become a highly successful guitar teacher.

Mistake #2 – Not enough depth in an artists music relationships. There's an old expression, "It's not what you know, it's who you know." In music this is often modified to, "It's not who you know, it's who knows you." The truth is, it's not about either. The most important aspect of connections within the music industry is how deep are the current relationships artists have now and will develop in the future. They don't want to simply know people or be known, they want people who know them to have a real deep connection with so that they are always on the top of their mind when opportunities present themselves.

Mistake #1 – Having a fundamental misunderstanding about what record companies look for - and expect from new bands. This is a huge topic, but in a nutshell, it's very useful to think of record companies like a bank that lends money to people or small businesses. Record companies make most of their decisions about whom they will work with and what the terms will be in much the same way that a bank will determine who they will loan money to and what the terms of the loan will be. Both record companies and banks basically want to see 3 things:

- How much value does the artist bring to the deal right now.

- How much risk does the artist bring with them right now.

- How much potential value and risk might they bring to them in the future after they invest in them.

If somoeone wants to buy a house, the bank wants to know a lot about the specific house they want to buy and EVEN MORE about them. Record companies are the exact same, they want to know about an artists music, their talent and their band, but they also care as much (or more) about THEM (and their band mates) as people. What about the artists makes a record deal a good or bad investment for them.
Music is a business just like any other business out there. They have a product, they market the product, they sell the product, and than they profit from the product. There is a lot of competition in the market place these days so marketing an artist isn't always the easiest task to accomplish.

1. Create a niche - Not every artist in the world can be marketed the same. Creating a niche is the most important thing an artist must do before he/she starts laying down the ground work. Comedian Rappers, Sexy Diva's, Make-up, Crazy Costumes, these are all examples of niche's that will help an artist stand out.

2. Industry Level Endorsements - Having a beat or song created by a producer who has an established name in the industry will help an artist to tap into a market they normally wouldn't see. Example: When someone goes to the store to buy a soft-drink they normally purchase "Pepsi" or "Coke" Products. Why? Simple, people are familiar with those brand names and the reputation that they represent. Using a producer that will bring a solid reputation and quality product to the new up and coming artist will expand the new artist's fan base and bring a sense of legitimacy to the music.

3. Be Creative - A lot of up and coming artists these days utilize hip hop blog sites such as worldstarhiphop, vladtv, allhiphop etc. to promote themselves. Some times the promotional material that is posted has nothing to do with music. It might be a trailer to a movie, a funny skit, or a real life situation that can be used to cross promote the artists music. Being creative in this process to capture the audiences attention is important and becoming a necessity in today's entertainment market.

4.) Power to the people - The fans are the most important foundational piece for an artist. An artist should treat fans with the up most respect. Word of mouth is underrated and must be acknowledged on the highest levels.

Artists should follow these four steps when marketing themselves in 2013, the music business is constantly changing with new innovative ways to connect artists with fans across the globe.
Industry Level Music Group Informs Artists on How to Avoid Music Scams

Industry Level Music Group is a private talent development firm that seeks talented artists and actors to represent at major music labels and film companies. Industry Level is made up of ex-music executives and A&R’s who posses the knowledge and relationships to negotiate multi-million dollar recording deals.

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/09/2013 -- Below are a list of things to watch out for in the music industry that Industry Level and associates have composed to make sure that artists don't steer off the correct path!

1. Do Not Pay For Shows: Chances are that artists will not be paid for a gig if they are not seen on major platforms such as hip hop blogs, major radio stations, MTV or BET. It is going to be very difficult to generate interest from show promoters and venue's that will want to pay them to perform.

Pay-to-perform business models DO take place on a larger scale as well. Live Nation sometimes will allow a tour "buy-on" in which an up and coming act (usually signed to a major label who is capable of spending the $100k or more) gets offered the deal. Up and coming unsigned artists typically will not be offered this type of deal. The reason the money is required is the fact that touring with a huge industry name i.e. Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, will create massive exposure and a building fan base for the artist. The touring agencies know this very well and that is how they are able to close these types of deals.

Hint – Acts get paid to perform by the club or venue's business model to SELL TICKETS and ALCOHOL. If they feel that booking the artist won't do JUST that, they simply will not be paid to perform. This is why it is important for the artist to focus their energy on appearing on major platforms so they can be seen by a massive target audience to build confidence with the show and venue promoters. Artists should follow this tactic and they will be contacted by paying customers who will compensate them for your their performance services.

2. Do Not Pay ANYONE with a Western Union or MoneyGram Transfer: One of the easiest ways to spot a music industry scam is to find out the companies "method of payment". If the company you are dealing with is offering "Too Good To Be True" type of deals and pressuring the compensation through a Western Union or MoneyGram transaction...WALK AWAY. Thieves and Scammers prefer these types of payment methods because they know their victims will not be able to retrieve the funds once sent.

Legitimate companies in the industry will be willing to provide customers with a services invoice or contract and accept monetary transactions that are traceable i.e. PayPal, Major Credit Card. Therefore if any problems arise the company representatives will be willing to delegate and resolve any disputes. Some music producers and artists do prefer the old-school method of "cash", just make sure you know the trusted source, have a receipt or invoice/contract and meet them in person if all possible before spending money.

3. Do Not Pay Just To Get Advice: There are many, many consultants out there who charge musicians an hourly rate for the privilege of receiving basic (at best) or bad (at worst) advice. This is not money well spent, and it could send artists down the wrong road in terms of reaching their goal.

Ian Martin had a great quote when he said, "Music executives should want to grant you free advice because it will only help with the overall goal of negotiating a fruitful deal for both parties. "

4. Do Not Pay for Industry Contacts: There are numerous websites that promote the sale of "Music Industry Contacts and Record Labels". Artists can purchase the material if they choose to but will run the risk of the content not being "up to date" or even valid. Besides, industry executives and A&R's typically want to approach the artist not the other way around. These major labels do NOT take unsolicited material. This means that if the content they are provided has not been ushered through the doors through a trusted source it most likely will not reach the right hands. Waste of time move on.

5. Do Not Pay Non-Exclusive or Exclusive rights for production: We see a lot of artists that come to us with beats purchased on popular beat websites like "Soundclick.com and Beatsplanet.com". These sites connect up and coming producers with up and coming artists, sounds great right? Even though this seems like a match made in heaven, to a music executive it is a NIGHTMARE.

First off, when purchasing the non-exclusive right to a track it is basically the same thing as renting a house with roommates. Artists are allowed to stay in the house, but they also have to share the house with the thousands of other artists that pay rent as well. Purchasing the exclusive rights to a track means that they are the only one that is allowed to rent the house. At the end of the day THEY DON'T OWN THE HOUSE. The master recording, or "final compilation" of an artists music, is what creates value for the artist and the record label. If the artist doesn't own the master than they are NOT in control.

Second off, if an artist does purchase the exclusive rights to the track, what about all the other artists that purchased the track non-exclusively before you? They are just all of a sudden expected to send the beat back to the original owner? No, these artists are still writing lyrics to the songs, performing them, COPYRIGHTING THEM, and submitting them to record labels and talent agencies such as ours. We would be billionaires if we had a dollar every time we heard multiple artists submit the SAME BEAT! Try to find relevant producers with credentials.

These are a few common music scams that we have compiled to protect artists like you in your journey for success. Although not every opportunity in the music business is a scam, but it is important to be able to see the red flags coming from a mile away.
