The Commitments London Cast Leaves Doyle as Biggest Name on Posters

The London run of the new West End show The Commitments is next month and, true to the nature of the show (the book and the film), the cast have only just been announced.

Bidwell, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/04/2013 -- The London run of the new West End show The Commitments is next month and, true to the nature of the show (the book and the film), the cast have only just been announced. True to itself it is mainly full of West End first timers.

Written by Roddy Doyle the story is set in Dublin and is about how a bunch of working-class no-hopers get together to form a soul band. The film put songs like "Mustang Sally", "In the Midnight Hour" and "Mr Pitiful" back on the playlists and spawned a generation of new tribute bands.

The main man will be Denis Grindel as Jimmy Rabbitte. For this ex- law graduate turned drama student this will be his first West End show. He will be joined by West End debutants Sarah O'Connor, Stephanie McKeon and Jessica Cervi.

But there are a few recognisable faces: Killian Donnelly, who plays Deco, is the most experienced member of the cast with a CV that includes The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.

"Many shows on London' West End are sold on the strength of the actors involved" says Simon Harding of Theatre Breaks "but The Commitments is a very special show, close to the hearts of many people who grew up with the music and the film and people will come and see it from all over the country: no matter who is in it"

The Commitments Theatre Breaks are now on sale with a variety of travel, accommodation and package options. Prices start from just £55 per person based on 2 people shareing a twin/double room.

Good to See Announces Christmas Theatre Breaks

Good To See is the company behind a suite of websites that promote London theatre breaks and other event-led short breaks around the UK.

Bidwell, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/27/2013 -- Family run company Good To See has just announced a series of new short city breaks to London to coincide with the Christmas period. Family favourites including perennial classics The Snowman and Disney on Ice and new musicals from the pens of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber feature in a series of theatre and hotel packages which start from just £62.50 with even more discounts for the children!

Christmas 2013 is set to be a very busy time for London's Theatreland with new shows joining a host of family-friendly shows including Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda and Disney's The Lion King that are set to feature strongly in Christmas breaks for London

Good To See is the company behind a suite of websites that promote London theatre breaks and other event-led short breaks around the UK. London, for pre-Christmas shopping and to take advantage of the winter sales and see seasonal lights on Oxford Street, is obviously a popular destination, but short breaks in cities all over the country give staycationers a wide choice of itineraries: from heading up to Edinburgh to celebrate Christmas or Hogmanay in style to disappearing off to Watford to take the Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour.

New Theatre Breaks in London for 2013 and 2014

Rice’s From Here to Eternity will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre on London’s famous Shaftesbury Avenue and will star Darius Campbell as Sergeant Warden, played by Burt Lancaster in the movie.

Bidwell, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/19/2013 -- Theatre Breaks has announced 6 new London Theatre Break packages for the autumn 2013 and winter 2013 / 2014 seasons, featuring some of the biggest names in musical theatre history including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Les Miserables writers Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg and Roddy Doyle.

Throughout 2013 London's Theatreland has gone from strength to strength, attracting more and more domestic visitors in what is already a highly successful year for many new theatre productions. Two of the most popular new breaks will be to see two new shows from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Once a partnership that changed the face of musical theatre, they are now on opposing production teams.

Rice's From Here to Eternity will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre on London's famous Shaftesbury Avenue and will star Darius Campbell as Sergeant Warden, played by Burt Lancaster in the movie.

Stephen Ward, the man who bought down a government and swung the swinging sixties when he introduced Christine Keeler to John Profumo is the subject of Andrew Lloyd Webbers' new show Stephen Ward, with music inspired by the hits of the time.

"Although it is an odd subject for a musical we expect this show to be very popular amongst our core audience" says Simon Harding owner of Theatre Breaks. "Since they were born in the late 40's and 50's, Baby Boomers have been effecting statistics all their lives: this nostalgic look back at their youth, coinciding with the likelihood that they will be celebrating a number of significant anniversaries, birthday and life events, will have them looking to Theatre Breaks to provide a bit of magic!"

Other shows coming to London in 2013 include the stage adaptation of Roddy Doyle's The Commitments and the comedy Barking in Essex starring comedian, Lee Evans.

London Theatre Breaks in 2014 will see the return of Boubil and Schoenberg's Miss Saigon for its 25th anniversary for which bookings open in September. Also making a hugely anticipated return to London next year is a completely re-written The Full Monty. The re-write by Simon Beaufoy, who wrote the screen play for the original movie sees the show returned to its home town of Sheffield where it premiered earlier in the year to rave reviews (not to mention a few screams!)

Family-run Theatre Breaks has promoted culture-led tourism for over 30 years and these six new theatre break packages join a long list of breaks featuring West End musicals, plays and comedies, as well as other cultural events in London and around the UK.
