Amazing Pet Expos Presents the 3rd Annual Seattle Pet Expo, Offers Tips to Make the Most of Events with Pets

This free event takes place on Saturday, June 4th, and Sunday, June 5th, at the Washington State Convention Center and will introduce pet lovers to all the pet resources that Seattle- and national - communities have to offer.

Seattle, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/25/2016 -- Pet lovers in Seattle should get their four-legged (or no-legged!) friends ready for the 2016 Seattle Pet Expo. The third year of this annual event will be jam-packed with an abundance of local and nationally-recognized veterinarians, groomers, trainers, retailers and organizations geared towards pet lovers.

Whether your pet slithers or hops, we invite animals of all ages (and their two-legged parents) to attend. If Fluffy is prone to crankiness, though, we have a few tips to help ensure he or she still has the best day possible:

1. Only bring your pet along if it is well behaved, non-aggressive and doesn't get stressed out in crowded, stimulating and noisy situations. There are all kinds of other animals, small children, wheelchairs and lots of people at the event. You know your pet best, so please use your best judgment to make sure that your pet will enjoy the expo just as much as you will.

2. While staff members are always carefully watching the crowds and pets to ensure everyone stays safe, it only takes a second for a dog bite to occur. Please review safe pet greeting behaviors with your children before attending the show. Remind your child to always ask the owner's permission to pet an animal, allow the pet to sniff their hands and then they should gently pet the animal's chest, chin or back (not the top of its head), speaking calmly and quietly. If a dog is hyper and won't sit for the owner, walk away and don't allow your child to pet the dog.

3. A few rules for bringing pets: Your pet must be current on all shots or you should plan to have your pet's immunizations updated at the event. The immunization requirement only applies to dogs, cats and ferrets. A rabies tag is acceptable as proof of immunization, as are blood titer results for those pet owners who don't immunize annually. Dogs must be on a fixed lead or a locked lead, no longer than 6 feet, at all times. No female pets in heat can attend. You'll be required to sign a pet waiver at the entrance, but you can avoid waiting in line by visiting the Seattle Pet Expo website to fill your pet waiver form out in advance.

4. Once inside, stop by the prize entry table to register for awesome giveaways and prizes from an abundance of exhibitors. Does your pet have an amazing talent or enjoy being the center of attention? Make sure to enter them in the pet talent and costume contests.

5. Bring cash. There are many opportunities for shopping and donations and some rescue groups may not accept credit cards. There is an ATM on site as well.

6. If you are interested in adopting a pet, the Mega-Adoption area could be just what you're looking for, plus the majority of rescue groups have pets in their booths too. Hundreds of pets will be available for adoption and applications.

7. Take note of the pet-potty areas on the map. There will be pet clean-up teams at the event but you'll also be given bags for your pet's waste pick-up when you enter. Please be kind and pick up after your pet.

8. Pet water stations will be scattered throughout the expo so that your excited companion doesn't get dehydrated. These are communal bowls, so if you have a puppy or elderly pet, please keep it safe and bring a travel or disposable bowl for their use.

9. This a large event. If your pets breed can't tolerate this kind of exertion, (for example, English Bulldogs), please plan to bring a stroller or wagon for them. While the event is indoor and air-conditioned, it is still a lot of exercise for breeds that don't handle heat or exercise well.

10. Pace yourself! It's a long weekend and there are many things to see. Make sure you take periodic breaks and give your pet a chance to rest - or step out of the expo for a few moments of quiet - if you plan to stay all day.

11. Many exhibitors offer some sort of treat for pets. If your pet has a sensitive stomach or is super excited, you may want to consider allowing your pet one or two treats and then allowing her/him to enjoy the rest at home.

12. If you have a small or tiny dog, you may want to be prepared to either carry it or have a stroller available. There are so many large and extra-large dogs at the expo that some small pet owners feel overwhelmed. Beware; little fur-babies may unintentionally get stepped on.

13. If you are attending the expo with the intent of adopting a new family member, you may want to bring a crate or some sort of car restraint. If you don't have one, be prepared to purchase something along those lines at the show. People ask at each show if we have any boxes or crates that they can have/borrow. We don't and cage/pet carriers may sell out. So either bring one with you or plan to arrive extra early so that you can make sure that a pet restraint is available for purchase.

The Charlotte Pet Expo will also feature more than 70 exhibitors, live entertainment and demonstrations, and a Petfinder.com mega-adoption area with more than 100 rescue pets available for adoption. Low-cost immunizations and free nail trims will also be available for all the furry friends who need them.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 14th, from 10am to 6pm, and Sunday, May 15th, from 11am to 4pm, at the Metrolina Tradeshow Expo. This free, indoor and air-conditioned event is expected to attract more than 15,000 attendees along with their furry, feathered and reptilian pals who are looking to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience where all pets can enjoy a fun day out with their pet parent(s). All well-behaved pets are welcome, as long as they're on a fixed lead (or in a carrier) and have proof of age-appropriate rabies vaccines.

Amazing Pet Expos Offers Tips to Avoid Pet Adoption Scams, Frauds and Ripoffs

Amazing Pet Expos’ offers Mega-Adoption Area at Every Amazing Pet Expo, Warns Consumers about Pet Adoption Scams

St. Louis, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/21/2016 -- "The Mega-Adoption area allows for local potential pet companions to meet the animal of their dreams," says Ethan Barnett, Vice President of Community Partnerships for Amazing Pet Expos, "But it also gives area rescues more space to both promote their organization and the animals that are in desperate need of good homes. Working with Petfinder to promote this space was an important step for us to make the Mega-Adoption area as large as possible and give those rescues the space they need to get as many animals off the streets and into loving homes as possible."

An Amazing Pet Expo, on average, helps find homes for over 100 pets at each event. Since 2009, Amazing Pet Expos has facilitated over 23,000 successful adoptions in communities across the country. Amazing Pet Expos requires that all non-profit rescue organizations provide documentation of shot records for every pet and also complete a liability waiver. These are just a few ways that Amazing Pet Expos is helping to ensure that you are adopting from a reputable organization.

"Our goal is to support reputable, local agencies and to provide homes for pets in need. Unfortunately, as with any trade, there are scam artists and faux organizations which do more harm than good. We want to alert the public on ways to avoid these scams whether they adopt at our shows, online or elsewhere," said Barnett.

Tips To Avoid Pet Adoption Scams:

- Be extra cautious of ads found in free classified websites, like Craigslist. While there are plenty of legitimate pets listed on these sites, be extra cautious because scammers focus on classifieds that don't cost them anything. If you're searching for a pet online, always use a reputable adoption sites like Petfinder.com or go directly to the rescue group's website.

- Do a quick online search on the rescue group or shelter you're thinking of adopting from to learn about others' experience adopting from the organization. Make sure that the organization is actually a rescue and not just an individual who "rescues" stray animals in their free time.

- Ask for several pictures of the pet and request some specific ones too - i.e. ask for a pic of the pet playing outside if possible - to ensure the pet is real.

- Check on the average adoption fees that similar organizations require and make sure the rescue's fees are in line with that's typical - i.e. local animal shelters or purebred rescue groups.

- If the owner or rescue won't give you their direct phone number and the number of their veterinarian, be skeptical. Be sure to call the veterinarian that the rescue or owner normally uses and verify they've cared for the pet.

- Will the rescue or owner get on the phone with you? Most scammers hesitate to speak on the phone; they either don't want you to see their caller ID or don't want to reveal that they're not in the US.

- If your email or other online written communications are in broken English or have very poor spelling and grammar, consider it a red flag - this often indicates that the person writing to you isn't in the US.

- Do not trust a rescue or owner who pushes for you to get the pet quickly by claiming they're moving or being evicted, they have to get rid of the pet ASAP, they have too many pets, they can't take care of the pet anymore or that the pet will come to harm for some reason.

- Be wary if the rescue adds "additional charges" to the adoption fees, such as veterinary charges, travel expenses, medication, insurance, etc. An adoption fee normally covers all veterinary bills and the pet care for the pet prior to adoption.

- If the rescue group or current owner asks you to wire or send money to a different state (or country) than where you're located, say "No, thanks!" Unless there are special circumstances, such as a reputable rescue's recommendation or affiliation, avoid any rescues or owners located outside of the United States.

- All non-profit rescues should provide you with an adoption fee receipt; if they don't, you should be concerned. If you pay an adoption fee with cash, demand a receipt. Never ever pay with a money order or Western Union.

- With every pet adoption, you should receive a copy of the pet's proof of immunizations and rabies' license tag. If the rescue can't - or won't - give this to you, then avoid the rescue.

- And if your gut instinct tells you to be wary, listen to it!

Amazing Pet Expos Announces Lure Coursing for Expanded 2016 Lineup

Lure Chasing is a new and exciting high-energy dog sport which will be presented at several Amazing Pet Expos in 2016 and coming to a city near you.

St. Louis, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2016 -- Dog sports and trends are on the rise and the producers of Amazing Pet Expos are supporting active pets by giving pet-lovers the opportunity to see and participate in Lure Coursing at many of their shows across the country this year. In addition to expanding to two day expos in 2016, producers have also announced new elements such as a Contest Stage, designated areas featuring exotic birds, reptiles and amphibians as well as an enhanced Children's Area along with increased interaction for pets attending the event. Lure Chasing is the perfect sport for pets of any size, shape, age and ability.

The still relatively unknown sport of Lure Chasing, also known as Lure Coursing, is a fast-paced, fun chase sport. Dogs run after a "bunny" lure (usually a white plastic bag) that is attached to a line that is controlled by a machine and a lure operator. The machine runs the line at the speed determined by the lure operator (and the dogs) and the dogs chase the lure. While this is a sport for dogs with a high prey drive, it is also for any pet, even cats from time to time.

"Lure Coursing is always a fun and entertaining addition to the Expos," says Ethan Barnett, Vice President of Community Partnerships for Amazing Pet Expos, "No matter the dog sport, we're always happy to watch the pets of our attendees having fun and showing us how to embrace new things. Lure coursing is a great way to exercise your pet no matter their age, breed, or disability."

Along with being able to watch a few demonstrations of the sport, pet parents will be invited to allow their pups to try out the course for themselves for a small fee. Pet Parents will discover that their pets may benefit from the exercise and excitement of Lure Chasing.

In addition to being open to any pets attending the event, the Lure Course will also feature pets from the Petfinder.com Mega Adoption Area as part of the Rescue Run, which is an opportunity for shelter pets to exercise and show off their skills for potential adopters at the event.

"There are lots of activities and dog sports out there and it's no secret that dogs often have a little too much energy," says Meghan Wolfgram with Swift Paws Lure Coursing. "Lure chasing is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to tire your pup out both mentally and physically and exercising those rescue pets who have been in a crate all day or even longer is beneficial to their health. It also allows the adoptable pets to show off for potential pet parents."

An Amazing Pet Expo typically features more than 150 pet-friendly exhibitors, live entertainment on two stages as well as demonstrations, low-cost immunizations and discounted microchipping, free nail trims, contests and a huge Mega Adoption Area featuring over 200 adoptable pets.

Admission is always free for this indoor and air-conditioned event. Attendees along with their furry, feathered and reptilian pals can enjoy a new and one-of-a-kind experience where all pets enjoy a fun day or two out with their pet parent(s). All well-behaved pets are welcome, as long as they're on a fixed lead (or in a carrier) and have proof of age-appropriate rabies vaccines.

Amazing Pet Expos and Swift Paws Lure Chasing Team Up at 6th Annual South Florida Pet Expo

Lure Chasing is a new and exciting pet sport which will be on display at the South Florida Expo Center on March 19-20, 2016

West Palm Beach, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/02/2016 -- Dog sports and trends are on the rise and the 2016 South Florida Pet Expo is showing their love for supporting active pets by giving pet-lovers the opportunity to see and participate in Lure Coursing. The Expo is taking place on Saturday, March 19 - 20 at the South Florida Expo Center from 10am until 6pm. The event has expanded this year from a one-day event to 2 big days!

"There are lots of activities and dog sports out there and it's no secret that dogs often have a little too much energy," says Meghan Wolfgram of Swift Paws, "Lure chasing is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to tire your pup out both mentally and physically."

Along with being able to watch a few demonstrations of the sport, pet parents will be invited to allow their pups to try out the course for themselves for a small fee, so that they have the opportunity to decide if their pets could benefit from the exercise and excitement of Lure Chasing.

The Lure Course is also open for pets from the Petfinder.com Mega Adoption Area to run for free. Swift Paws generously donates to causes each year and sees the Lure Chase as a great way to showcase some of the pets who are looking for forever homes at the event.

The South Florida Pet Expo will also feature more than 100 exhibitors, live entertainment and demonstrations, Low-cost immunizations and discounted microchipping will be available from Animal Aid, Inc. and free nail trims will also be available.

Admission to the 2016 South Florida Pet Expo is free. This indoor and air-conditioned event is expected to attract more than 15,000 attendees along with their furry, feathered and reptilian pals who are looking to enjoy a new and one-of-a-kind experience where all pets can enjoy a fun day out with their pet parent(s). All well-behaved pets are welcome, as long as they're on a fixed lead (or in a carrier) and have proof of age-appropriate rabies vaccines.

The Cleveland Pet Expo Offers Special Tips for Attendees and Their Pet Friends

Pet lovers in the Cleveland area should get their four-legged friends ready for the 2013 Cleveland Pet Expo, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Cleveland Convention Center. This free, indoor event attracts thousands of pet lovers looking to enjoy a day out with their furry, feathered or reptilian pals

Cleveland, OH -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/02/2013 -- Pet lovers in the Cleveland area should get their four-legged friends ready for the 2013 Cleveland Pet Expo, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Cleveland Convention Center. This free, indoor event attracts thousands of pet lovers looking to enjoy a day out with their furry, feathered or reptilian pals!

From 10 AM to 6 PM, the expo will be packed with an abundance of local and nationally recognized veterinarians, groomers, trainers, retailers and organizations primarily geared towards pet lovers. Whether you'd like to learn, shop, play, or adopt, this is an event you won't want to miss!

Shorty Rossi, star of 'Pit Boss' on Animal Planet and Official Spokesperson for Amazing Pet Expos in 2013, will make an appearance with his popular canine sidekick, Hercules. As Rossi's star has continued to rise, it's only managed to allow him to make a bigger difference for his special passion: championing the cause of pit bulls. Not only will he be available for pictures and autographs all day, he'll share how you can become an advocate for animals and help make a difference as well.

No doubt about it, these expos are CROWDED. As with any event that attracts large crowds, we've found that people who prepare for the expo tend to have a much better experience. Here are some valuable tips from the team at Amazing Pet Expos to help ensure that our guests have the best day possible:

1. Only bring your pet along if it is well behaved, non-aggressive and doesn't get stressed out in crowded, stimulating and noisy situations. There are all kinds of other animals, small children, wheelchairs and lots of people at the event. Your pet will be exposed to dogs barking, people speaking loudly on microphones, crowds clapping and attendees cheering. You know your pet best, so please use your best judgment to make sure that your pet will enjoy the expo just as much as you will.

2. While we have a number of staff members who are always carefully watching the crowds and pets to ensure everyone stays safe, it only takes a second for a dog bite to occur. Please review safe dog (and all pets, for that matter) greeting behaviors with your children before attending the show. Remind your child to always ask the owner's permission to pet an animal, allow the calm pet to sniff their hands and then they should gently pet the animal's chest, chin or back (not the top of its head), speaking calmly and quietly to the pet. Children should never "stare down" a dog, jump on it, grab it from behind or scream at it. If a dog is hyper and won't sit for the owner, walk away and don't allow your child to pet the dog. Sometimes the most well behaved pets can be startled, especially if they are already over-stimulated from such an exciting event.

3. A few rules for bringing pets: Your pet must be current on all shots or you should plan to have your pet's immunizations updated at the event; low-cost vaccinations and micro-chipping are offered on-site. The immunization requirement only applies to dogs, cats and ferrets. A rabies tag is acceptable as proof of immunization, as are blood titer results for those pet owners who don't immunize annually. Dogs must be on a fixed lead or a locked retractable lead, no longer than 6 feet, at all times. No female pets in heat can attend. You'll be required to sign a pet waiver at the entrance, but you can avoid waiting in line by visiting the Cleveland Pet Expo website to fill your pet waiver form out in advance.

4. Once inside, stop by the prize entry table to register for awesome giveaways and prizes from an abundance of exhibitors. Does your pet have an amazing talent or enjoy being the center of attention? Make sure to enter them in the pet talent and costume contests. These popular events (and the great winning prize packages) draw a large crowd!

5. Bring cash. There are many opportunities for shopping and donations and some rescue groups may not accept credit cards. There is an ATM on site as well.

6. The Cleveland Pet Expo program includes all the vendor names and locations, a map of the show floor, as well as the full schedule of events and activities at the expo. You'll be offered one at the entrance so make sure that you pick up your copy!

7. If you are interested in adopting a pet, the Mega-Adoption area could be just what you're looking for, plus the majority of rescue groups have pets in their booths too. Hundreds of pets will be available for adoption.

8. High traffic events for the day will be the presentations and meet and greet for Shorty Rossi, the agility course, as well as the entertainment stage. You may want to take a moment before the event or once you arrive, to review the show program so that you have a general idea of how you want to spend your time at the expo.

9. Take note of the pet-potty areas located indoors. There will be pet clean-up teams at the event but you'll also be given bags for your pet's waste pick-up when you enter. Please be kind and pick up after your pet.

10. Pet water stations will be scattered throughout the expo so that your excited companion doesn't get dehydrated. These are communal bowls, so if you have a puppy or elderly pet, please keep it safe and bring a travel or disposable bowl for their use.

11. This a large event. If your pets breed can't tolerate this kind of exertion, (for example, English Bulldogs), please plan to bring a stroller or wagon for them. While the event is indoor and air-conditioned, it is still a lot of exercise for breeds that don't handle heat or exercise well.

12. Pace yourself! It's a long day and there are many things to see. Make sure you take periodic breaks and give your pet a chance to rest - or step out of the expo for a few moments of quiet - if you plan to stay all day.

13. Many exhibitors offer some sort of treat for pets. If your pet has a sensitive stomach or is super excited, you may want to consider allowing your pet one or two treats and then allowing her/him to enjoy the rest at home. We see a lot of dogs gobble up as many treats as possible only to - ahem - have them up a few hours later.

14. If you have a small or tiny dog, you may want to be prepared to either carry it or have a stroller available. There are so many large and extra-large dogs at the expo that some small pet owners feel overwhelmed. Beware; little fur-babies may unintentionally get stepped on.

15. If you are attending the expo with the intent of adopting a new family member, you may want to bring a crate or some sort of car restraint. If you don't have one, be prepared to purchase something along those lines at the show. People ask at each show if we have any boxes or crates that they can have/borrow. We don't and cages/pet carriers may sell out. So either bring one with you or plan to arrive extra early so that you can make sure that a pet restraint is available for purchase.

The Cleveland Pet Expo is organized by Amazing Pet Expos, which currently produces more than 39 pet expos around the country; all of them indoors and free to the general public.
